Antutu - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

Hi,
Stupid question alert, am reading for the flaming I no doubt deserve.
What causes the variance in antutu scores for the same device?
Is it based on the condition of the phone? As in, a phone that has very few apps installed would score higher than the same model with lots of apps?
Or do different instances of the same phone perform differently, ie differences on a silicon level etc?
I ask as my Redmi 3S (3gb model) scores 43140 on antutu but it seems the average is 39744
Or perhaps it's just that most people test the 2gb model and this brings the average down...

Juicing Benchmark Scores - Anandtech

A few months, kernel guru Andreilux discovered the Exynos variant of the Galaxy S4 was detecting the presence of certain benchmarks and raising thermal limits in order to gain an edge on those benchmarks. Ars Technica found the same behavior in the Note 3. It turns out Samsung isn't the only one playing this game, virtually all OEM's do.
In typical Anandtech like thesis fashion, they have broken down the state of android benchmark cheating in this very well written article (at least to me it was).

Benchmarks have been irrelevant since gingerbread... But I think what Samsung and HTC do should be the real way to test a phones performance.. there are so many things that affect a phone's performance so testing it's max potential should be the point of a benchmark.. I don't see anything wrong with what they are doing.

IMO except Exynos version of galaxy s4 none of them is cheating. What is cheating anyway? As samsung does on 9500, users only can use 533mhz in benchmarks. That is cheating. But what about devices just switching governors and thermal limits? Like NOTE 3 or some other phones, you can definately get the SAME level of scores if you throw those phones into a freezer and switch their governors to performance. This is not cheating.
LoL. BTW, I've been reading through the comments and find that none of the replies stating NVIDIA Shield's cheating behavior are replied or commented. NVIDIA Shield COULD BE the WORST of all. It does some trick to dramatically increase the 3D performance, which is not frequency/governor related. As tested, the fan-equipted device can only reach 75% of 3D scores in Antutu X than in original Antutu, and its gpu's frequency is always 672mhz. Apparantly the "better" results come not from governor switching nor from raising thermal limits, but from other tricks to fake the scores. Also NVIDIA Shield does no better in many games than adreno 320 does. Why benchmarks much higher? LoL

[Q] how to get a high benchmark score in antutu?

how to get a high score in antutu using liquidsmooth rom?:fingers-crossed:
To be honest buddy....benchmark scores mean naff all! I couldnt give two toots about what "score" an app gives my device....i give it 10/10 because its what i want it to be....i wouldn't pay any attention to benchmark scores. People are always complaining about too much ram usage etc, remember....unused ram is wasted ram.
Throw out as much apps as possible, use as less features as possible (no phone calls, no messaging), overclock your CPU and GPU, use as less RAM as possible, switch to CyanogenMod or any other close-to-vanilla Android ROM.
What do you care more about? Some random numbers from benchmarks or the real performance and amount of features during daily usage?
Benchmarks only give pure performance rating based on some random calculations. It gives no overview about how good the phone performs during daily usage. The number does not show you anything. A phone with extremely low benchmark score can work perfectly with no lag in the UI during daily usage, whereas phone with high benchmark score can be laggy and stuttering.
Just my opinion... This thread really is stupid. I mean the OP question.

Antutu scores! GS7 & Edge

Hey guys and gals,
Just want to throw this out there, I love comparing. I believe I may have gotten a "Prime" device, as my antutu is higher than the 5 people or so I know that have a GS7. I'm seeing a lot more GS7's score higher than the GS7 Edge, not sure the reasoning behind that. Anyway, here's my specs, please toss your scores on here so we can get a frame of judgement.
Bone stock SM-G930T
Android V. 6.0.1
Kernel V. 3.18.20-7103056
Antutu V.6.0.1
Ambient Temp: 71 degrees F.
Score: 134611
3D: 56822
UX: 39906
CPU: 31141
RAM: 6742
Nothing unusual about this result, those other results fall well within the standard deviation margin.
And as someone who makes a living by analyzing enterprise benchmarks, I find Antutu completely useless (no offence meant).
Already a thread for this

Be sure you bench the phone from a cold state as the score will drop big time if it's heated. Also the lag should go away in two weeks.
turn off all power saving options and other features present in nougat
also, whisper in its ear when you start the benchmark from cold...

It's normal. I get lower score in Antutu Benchmark every device I use like Note 2, Note Edge, S7 Edge. There are too many reasons for that, first is heat. Number of installed app, cache, thumbnails, Whatsapp Files and SD Card fullness are other things to effect Antutu score.
(Antutu Average Score is calculate in best conditions, I mean, it's just theorotical score, not pratically. So, you don't need to think about getting lower score on Antutu )
Like everyone said, you should bench from cold state. Also delete every app running in backround. :good:
like it matters... the overall performance is the most important and I addume you're happy with S7 speed.
life is too short to worry about benchmarks

benchmarks after update

Hi all. Iam wondering if this is the same case for you.
When i bought the phone and ran Antutu Benchmarks, it scored around 127,000.
After few months of usage and 3 updates, my max pro m2 dropped in antutu and now it scores around 115,000 only. That is quite a significant drop considering i only installed basic apps on my phone.
Is it the same for you guys?
Can you share your benchmarks?
