Is there a way to do the sd card write fix on the v20? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Many of my apps are having trouble reading or writing. ES file does not delete properly, the space stays occupied.

That shouldn't be an issue. Marshmallow fixed that. It should pull up a prompt to have you select the root of the SD card.

Not sure if this is related or not. I ran into an issue with Doggcatcher not reading my audiobooks since is unable to see my external sd card. Could just be Doggcatcher needing an update though.

ES File Manager has started using a recycle bin in it's newest versions. Just like in Microsoft Windows. You need to empty it and if you want you can turn that feature off like i did.

I checked that. The only way I get the space back is checking disk in Windows where it finds lost file chunks.

Do you think the es recycle bin caused it?

No it's turned off. I'm using es pro which is also failing to use root. I'm hearing pro is behind the free es but free es has malware so I'm not trying that.

What file manager are you using to delete the files? I have found that some managers / programs do not delete files without issues for some reason, for example when I play video files via MX video player, if i delete a file using MX it is often not removed, whereas with Root Explorer or ES file explorer I have never had any issues like that.
Also are you sure the files are really there? Maybe your PC is just showing you cached data, try a refresh/rebot of both devices, check again? Are the deleted files still intact if you copy them from tab to PC, or are they damaged?

I've tried all the popular file managers and the files are indeed there and intact. I think I ruined file permissions or something, I have no clue.

Did you alter the permissions of the files in question? Are you rooted? Does a root access file explorer (ie root explorer) cause the same issues when deleting a file?
Where is the file you are deleting, /sdcard/* or is the file actually in the system root (/)?
Is it on microsd?
Possibly a corrupt file system, or perhaps you are deleting a file that is currently locked by a running app?
Can you post a logcat of what happens when deleting a file? The clue to solve your problem might be in the system logs, snag a free copy of catlog if you don't have it, launch catlog, have catlog start recording, start a file explorer, delete the file, switch back to catlog and stop recording and then post/examine the log, might be a clue in there.
Also, as a wild idea - assuming the issue is coming from files, snag a copy of "sdrescan" from market, it is free, and give it a run. Perhaps you have a corrupted gallery view or something.
Hope we can figure it out

ES File Explorer Doesn't Delete Files Properly Sometimes

Hi all, I'm using ES File Explorer. Sometimes when I delete a file by using the Nexus 7 itself and afterwards plug it into my computer and I browse using Windows Explorer, the file that was supposedly deleted would still show up. Does anyone know why this is?

I had a similar thing happen where I moved a bunch of files using the adb shell. The files were still accessible in the old directory in Windows, but didn't show in directory listings done on the N7.

Were you also using ES File Explorer or a different app?
Because the Nexus uses MTP instead of USB Mass Storage, the Media scanner on the Nexus will need to periodically scan your device for changes in files/folders. It sucks because it will always show inconsistencies in Windows Explorer that don't match the file structure on the Nexus.
You can use the SDRescan app to force it to scan now, then Windows Explorer will correctly show files/folders you've changed.

[Q] File managers dont have access to directories

Hello.
I am not sure if it is android wear problem. If it's not sorry then
On my phone using normal file explorer apps everything is ok.
But on android wear apps ( i tested 3):
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=rocketstartups.wearfilemanager
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.woiapp.filemanagerwear
play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jppjff.fileexplorer
when i want to open "sdcard" or other directories they are saying "*name* unaccessible" or "no access".
How can I fix that?
Thanks for help
Based on the app comments, it seems to be a common issue.
I have tried one, and I see there is no permission. I have the same, I cannot read /storage, but I can read it using adb on computer.
I think that SD storage acces permission is missing in these apps.
I just sideloaded ES File Explorer because of the same problem. /sdcard/ is accessible with no issues

Which version did you sideload? I did the same and was unable to get ES to work. Crashed without opening.

Could you be so kind as to detail how to accomplish this? A friend needs to pull a watch face back off the watch to recover it from having been accidentally deleted from the phone.

Thank you kind sir. Had family issues that prevented me from reviewing and responding sooner but you deserved a reply and thanks![emoji6] [emoji106]
You need root access to view and access filesystem on the watch.

SD card. Can't find it.....

Literally got my priv 20 minutes ago. Load my SD cards which contains all my important info and can't find the damn thing. I'll call the helpline shortly but a friend suggested I check here as well.....
You have to download a file explorer to browse its files. ES File Explorer is well known. If you are attaching a file to a message, you can also access the sd card there, as far as I know.

Try to install this application by Blackberry

I don't know why they didn't include it with the OS!

BlackBerry 10 didn't include exfat drivers by default either.
I'm guessing it's something to do with Microsoft's licensing deal.
Same problem, BB extfat from the play store fixed it.

The AAD027 software update fixes SD card problems as well.

"System data" taking more than 15GB

Hi!
First of all, I'm using a 32GB Nexus 6P, on the last Android 8.0 beta. My Nexus 6P has always run stock Android, unrooted. No here's a screenshot that should make my issue pretty clear: http://i.imgur.com/YCkubsu.png
As you can see, "system data" is taking 15GB. I've been trying to figure out what these 15GB are. I searched on Google, I found some answers about TWRP backups, but since I've never installed TWRP on this phone (I've never unlocked the bootloader, rooted it or anything), that can't be it.
Solid Explorer tells me "internal storage" has 5/25GB free, so 20GB used. But when I select everything in internal storage, it says "5GB used", so selecting everything doesn't select those missing 15GB.
Since I'm not rooted, I have no idea how to find out what's taking all that storage. I will forever be grateful if anyone has an idea or a solution! Thanks!
Might not be relevant, but I was once way short on space and found a bunch of stuff in the "recycle bin" in ES File Explorer.

Solid Explorer doesn't have a recycle bin, and it's the only file explorer I've used on this phone :/
I would just back up all your stuff wanted and reflash stock factory image.

But if you install ES File Explorer, do you see stuff in the recycle bin?
