Samsung Galaxy J3 missing Screen Mirroring - Samsung Galaxy J3 (2016) Questions & Answers

LS,
Samsung Galaxy J3 with Android 5.1.1 is missing the "screen mirroring"; can i still get it enabled without any 3rd party application...?

Disappointed
I bought the J3 2016 and have been trying in vain to find a way to mirror screen but sadly samsung have removed the function from the phone.
I've tried apps from Google playstore but still no joy....sad to say mirror screening just isn't possible.

Well there's sort of a way
If it's a video from YouTube or anywhere on the web and you DO NOT have a screen mirror option you can get an app from the play store called VIDEO WEB CASTER. It's pretty easy and it's good enough to get the job done until there's a better option later on. Apps evolve every day...

Samsung Link

Does anyone know how I can put Samsung Link on my Galaxy S5? All Galaxy models have had it (it was once called Allshare), but this app is one of the main reasons why I've stuck with Samsung products. Not only for the auto backup to my desktop PC whenever I snap a picture or record a video (I can still set that up through just about any cloud service, but it still requires the extra step of downloading it onto my PC), but I use it extensively when I'm traveling. If I need a file or document, porn, etc from one of my PCs at home, Samsung Link allows me to access all of my registered devices remotely and download the file no matter where I am. It also allows me to stream video to any of my Samsung TVs in the house. I know I can do this through other apps, but Samsung Link allowed me to do all of these. This is probably the only app from Samsung that I've used on a daily basis since owning my Galaxy S2 Skyrocket. AT&T is my service provider, and I bet they took this app off their phones before loading it up with their stuff.

On my T-Mo version Samsung Link Platform, the prerequisite to run Link, has been pre-installed, I doubt ATT would mess with Samsung's core apps.
See if this works for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sec.pcw
I get not compatible on this device. . I also tried installing the apk from some random site, and I keep getting link fcs
Anyone help with this?
Am not seeing this too. Why?
Just an FYI, I installed the omega rom and seems they have the framework already, and link works fine now

[Q] Getting Airview working globally

Hi everyone,
I'm a proud new owner of a galaxy s5 (tmobile) and was playing around with the airview feature on the device when I noticed it suddenly working on third party apps.
To clarify: I mean I was able to hover my finger three inches above the screen in applications like google chrome, and whatsapp in order to get similar functionality to what you get when you have AirView enabled for samsung apps such as messaging and internet browser.
I definitely thought it was cool but this 'feature' seemed to go away on it's own and I couldn't quite how to get it re-enabled for all apps or why it was enabled in the first place. (It remained working on samsung apps)
So I did some digging around and it seems that information on this topic is surprisingly limited given that this is a feature that existed on the Galaxy S4 and by now should have matured at least a little.
In any case one app that seemed promising is discussed in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2705514
Unfortunately this app is quite unreliable (at least on the S5 with a TW rom) and the posters here seem at a loss as to the cause of its unreliability.
What I've found is that the issue seems to have to do with samsung apps messing everything up.
Basically if you manually enable the air view service using an app like activity launcher or even using the app linked above,
AirView will work perfectly in third party apps (provided that Airview is also enabled in the standard settings page).
However, if you launch any samsung app that uses AirView afterwards, then the service becomes disabled again as soon as you close that samsung app!
In other words what seems to be happening on the system side from samsung's point of view is this:
1)AirView option enabled in standard settings
2)Samsung app launched--> Airvew service starts
3)Samsung app quit --> Airview Service stops
Therefore, If you try to start the service on your own with an app like finger hover or manually, it will work until a samsung app is quit and sends a command to stop the service.
This explains why I originally observed Airview working on third party apps because its likely that when that happened, a Samsung app that used Airview quit unexpectedly before it could stop the Airview service. Therefore the service probably continued to work until I launched another Samsung app and quit it safely.
Now i'm not sure if samsung apps are closing the service because they're trying to save battery life or because they think that the cleanest way to use this service is to start it when you need it and stop it when you're done with it OR if they're doing this because they're jerks that don't want third party apps to be able to use this feature on this phone. Either way i'd like to get around it.
The way I see it, we can try to attack this problem using a couple of different methods:
1) We can try to modify samsung apps so that they no longer close the service on app quit <-- probably very difficult to do if not impossible
2) We can try to create a task that launches on every samsung app quit that restarts the service <-- probably bad on battery life and would negatively impact performance
3) We can try to create a task that launches the service on selected app launches (for example detect when a whitelisted app like chrome is launched, and starts the service for that app and quits it when the app is closed (much like how samsung does it)) <--probably the easiest method to implement but feels a bit like cheating
4) we can try to modify the service itself so that it can't be closed by apps <-- not sure how difficult this would be but would certainly like to test this method to determine negative side-effects.
What do you guys think? I definitely am looking for input on this so that we can solve this problem!

Guide and discussion: Google Daydream VR on Samsung S7 (edge)

Although I still consider GearVR being the superior solution, Google ahs come a long way from Cardboard. At the very least enabling Daydream reduces jittering in cardboard apps and there is some cool exclusive content is available.
Guide:
You need a Nougat rom.
You need to be rooted.
Follow the instructions in this post:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/5hno6u/got_daydream_to_work_on_my_5x_might_work_on_other/
Using a root explorer app, navigate to /system/etc/permissions/handheld_core_hardware.xml.
<feature name="android.software.vr.mode" /> is already enabled.
<feature name="android.hardware.vr.high_performance" /> is commented out, change accordingly.
Install Daydream app. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/daydream/
Install Google VR Services. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-vr-services/
Install Daydream Keyboard. http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/daydream-keyboard/
Reboot. If Daydream app was already installed before editing handheld_core_hardware.xml. you need to clear app data and cache of Daydream and Google VR services.
Enable NFC. Charge the Daydream Controller.
Run Daydream app and follow first time instructions. If Games are availalbe inside Daydream you did everything right.
Things working:
All media consumption apps.
Most games including Gunjack 2, Underworld overlord.
Not working:
Need for Speed Unlimited VR. crashes with black screen.
Issues.
Heavy sideward drifting. May be caused by a controller issue.
Occasional flickering.
Double vision especially in Gunjack. In this case use a headset with lens distance adjustment.
Please share your experiences.
Only two issues with this guide for me.
1. No root
2. No Nougat

Cardboard is just a poor plebs gear vr. I think its actually made for emerging markets
I am talking about Daydream which offers a similar experience to Gear VR and a Wiimote-like remote controller .
i bought a daydram view.
i bought need for speed no limits vr. (50% sale i'm a big fan of this series)
i followed this guide -> https://forums.oneplus.net/threads/...ream-vr-fully-running-on-op3-oxygenos.479505/
i also tryed to set this ->ro.product.device=sailfish
and this -> https://forum.xda-developers.com/mo.../spoofing-daydream-compatible-device-t3534943
no luck
this is the error i got in Need for Speed VR (logcat) ->
"failed to initialize async reprojection, unsupported device"
i hope someone get it to run!!!
btw. this also does not work https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.wb.fantasticbeasts.vr
Doesn't work for my either. Done all the above. Tried pixelify, sailfish etc etc.
Either I just get a black screen with white vertical separator and sound but no video
Or
I get the game running but in 2D mode and not split screen.
I have spent way too much of my time trying to get it to work. I wonder if it only works on Snapdragon variant of S7 Edge as I have the Exynos version.
Once I got YouTube VR to briefly work where I could see an image duplicated split screen but it was not moving. Almost as if there was no gyro sensor.
I really hope someone can put me out of my grief with a solution.

At least Netflix and Youtube VR works (downloaded from apkmirror). But the S7 is heavily drifting.

Galaxy J727p removable debloating list

Putting this here in hopes of helping other J7 perx users pull the most from their battery . Thanks to Ashyx we have root on our device!! Wich makes this possible. Recovery atm is still being worked on so bootloops are no fun, figured id help everyone out, took quite the number of bootloops and several hours to come up with rebooting after every single uninstall to pin point certain apks, hopefully it is useful.
First make a backup with titanium backup!!
(The list does not rob the os of many features, but if theres something here you dont want taken out then simply look over it or restore it)
68-70 apks removed with titanium backup, lets get goin.

Do not remove dictionary.apk or device maintanance.apk, as both result in bootloops. Make sure to run the sd maid app from the playstore afterwards to clean things up!
Also feel free to adventure and add to this list!!
any news my friend about more apps that can be uninstalled?
Note of advice while debloating Stock Oreo ROM for SM-J727P
All the listed apps in here just apply fine except you have to keep in place the native Email and Message apps because if you uninstall any of those the Camera app stop working properly right away https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77722457&postcount=29

I have an Oreo debloat script in my Spacesung thread. Everything without a # sign in front of it in my script is safe to remove. Additionally, it's also safe to remove Samsung experience, the theme store, and Touchwiz launcher, if you have another launcher to replace it. You can remove google videos as well, I just forgot about it. The native Samsung video player will kick in from the gallery if you do. I prefer it myself.
For those who still rock with this warrior phone.
As of this writing and latest ROM version J727PVPU7BTH1 do not uninstall the included Chrome web browser apk as it would prevent you from signing in to the Play Store account.

VR image not calibrated on S8+ (it is on Iphone7)

Dear forum people,
I have been looking around for a couple of weeks and I'm closing in to the problem I have.
I want to give away cardboards so that patrons can see our installation from our website . This is a WordPress site with VR-view plugin.
My frustration comes from the fact that my 360° images (taken from a gear360 2017) are ok on the web AND on an iPhone with a simple cardboard viewer (close to Google i/o2015).
Why does it look like it is not calibrated on my galaxy S8+ (it makes me squint) ?
I have used the VR Calibration app form AnRaEl (see playstore) and generated the QR code from the Google site. But even this does not work.
I also tried to activate the 1st and second VR flag in chrome://flags in ChromeDev
Images and videos from the Cardboard app appear OK, but not the images from my website (in Chrome, ChromeDev, Firefox).
Can anyone help ?
[edit] it looks okay on a friend's galaxy S5, but it's not a matter of size since the iPhone 7 of the other pal is A-OK. Also, a 360° video runs on the apple's but stops on the S5 when fitting it in the cardboard viewer. Still not solved...
i have the same problem, but with apps that are not in cardboard, any solution?
