How identify Yotaphone 2 YD201 and YD206 - YotaPhone

Hi everyone! I hope this was not discussed before but, really I'm trying to identify my phone and i couldn't.
Ok I bought it in Banggood and when I did the order i chose YD201 version for have LTE in my country (Spain) but my surprise is when i received the phone in the box described like YD206. I start the phone and inside of the rom , when i was woing to settings i found is YD201, so how to know it? Someone happened the same?

I think that there is a big confusion with Yotaphone 2 phones.
There were some versions that used Snapdragon 800 chip, that is able to use band 20 (800MHz).
But all the latest use Snapdragon 801, which seems is not able to use band 20. I don't know if it is just lacking the antenna or chip has no support.
You can look up numerous band unlocking tutorials and you'll discover none of them are able to unlock band 20 800MHz.
You can still get LTE on other frequencies. LTE runs on 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2600 MHz, depends on your operator.
I'd be happy if someone prooved me wrong.

GSM from Tri-band to Quad-band,

Hi, can I change touch dual the GSM from Tri-band to Quad-band,
for the better reception in USA.
I know the touch can do that, Thank
Now that its going to be available in the US with quad band, does it mean tri band niki can be changed to quad band?

I would like to know this too
It could be possible, but the RF chipset could be totally different on the two models.
There wouldn't be much of a reason for HTC to restrict the current tri band duals with the way the various operators have deals with other overseas operators.

You would think they would have designed, developed the radio chip long ago, and the new edition would only contain software changes to the OS, and Hardware soft updates

I too would like to know if this is possible. The best buy website has a touch dual listed with 850. I called their customer support and they couldn't give me any information on release date or even a model number. Will the US version of the dual have 850? I want to know if I can get this $500 phone to work here (area code 318 with ATT) on just the 1900 band or do I need the 850 band for better reception. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

theres only one version of the dual that is quad band and that is the US version being sold by BEST BUY.

Bought the triband Dual but, soon figured out that it doesnt work well in the states.

Was working on 850MHZ than....
My HTC touch was working on 850 MHZ than I had a tech at my provider's, setting up my internet.
Since that moment it does not work anymore:
Getting the signal but not able to make calls or receive calls.
The guy tried to fix it. It worked for a couple of calls and than stopped working.
Back to the tech, he told me it s because of the 850mhz on which they operate.
He said that even if it was working fine, it wasn't meant for their network (850 MHZ).
Should I believe him?
(the phone works fine with 1900MHZ band from another company)
How can I fix this?
wish there was a radio upgrade like the latest for the diamond that enabled the 850 band

LTE 4G Bands

Hello I have a problem with my LG G2 (D802) Europe model! My carrier have relase 4G in bands 38B 2600 MHz TDD buth lg g2 d802 not have this bands, has instead bands TDD 40B 2300 Mhz!
I can add this bands on my g2?
The new license the company in 2600 MHz band (TDD) has been acquired by a process of transfer of RCS & RDS and 2K Telecom, with the agreement of the National Authority for Management and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM).

Unfortunately these bands are not something we can add/remove but some chips are hardware capable only that they're restricting them for some reasons.

Try to follow the clip above if you are from RO(the guy who made this wrote the instructions in romanian), should give you what you wanted but apparently everybody is still complaining about band 38 not doing much
I'm also in the same situation, i keep finding stuff that leads me to think that it's possible, first of all the snapdragon 800 supports LTE band 38, there are several threads that have unlocking guides and claim in the first post that several devices have been unlocked (I did not manage on mine unfortunately).
From what i've seen the One plus one has managed to unlock that LTE band, a Galaxy S5 and several phones that have MTK chipsets (with only root access and an app).
So unlocking LTE bands is not impossible (if there is hardware support of course) .
Really hope someone will give us some useful info on this. (we got 4g and extra 10gb of traffic for free, but only on 4g)

The antenna has to match the exact frequency and modulation or just the frequency?
Because, N910C, N910F both support LTE band 7, on frequency 2600,
FDD (Frequency-Division Duplex).
LTE band 38 is also on frequency 2600 but uses TDD (Time-Division Duplex)
Is the modulation (FDD, TDD) handled by the antenna or by the modem?
The modem is, as far I can tell, the same for N910F and N910G (both same Qualcomm); unlike the Exynos in N910C.
Still no one came with a solution for this? I read that Qualcomm phones can make this change (S5)

it's possible change the Moto G4 plus XT1642 LTE frequency ?

i need the band 4(aws) but the XT1642 just have LTE bands 01/05/07/08/19/20/28

There are limitations because of the hardware bits (RF amps) that are missing. For example if the radio works on LTE band 17 (DL 740Mhz, UL 710MHz), then it might be tricked to work in LTE band 12 (DL 737.5MHz, UL 707.5MHz), they are "close enough" to work.
Also I had a Alcatel phone that was sold by T-Mobile with one of the existing bands (LTE 5) de-activated because it was not used by T-Mobile. After unlocking the phone (legally) it would still work poorly on AT&T network - and then I was able to activate that band by using the above software - because the needed RF amps where already present inside.
LTE band 4 AWS is a special animal, the DL and UL frequencies are VERY far apart. Not matching anything else, so even if we can program the radio to work in those bands, the output RF amps will just not be able to perform.

I'd love to say that I understood you but I'm very ignorant about bands and frequencies.
I read that the QC SnapDragon 617 has a X8 LTE Modem (can't link because I'm new, but it's on the QC webpage) which has the Snapdragon Global All Mode, and it's supposed to support band 4 AWS. I don't know if that helps with the output RF amps, or I'm totally doomed.
Yes the X8 Modem supports the bands. But it needs something else to work. Those bits are soldered on the US version and not on the EU one. Similar, on the EU one there is band 20 that is not present on the US hardware.

A way to enable more LTE bands to ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KL)

Hello to all,
I have a ZenFone 2 Laser (ZE500KL). Asus support said me that is a Taiwanese version.
The issue is that is not working with LTE network in my country, only with 2G and 3G. Here is used AWS1 that is the same AWS band 4 (1700/2100 MHz) 1700 for uplink and 2100 for downlink. Asus support said me that I have nothing to do since is a hardware issue because the antenna doesn't work in 1700/2100.
Is there a way to know if this handset could be enabled to work with LTE AWS Band 4?

First thing first, I'm sorry if my reply did not help you, and this is based on my limited understanding...
Simple answers would be nothing, nothing you can do if this is "hardware" limitation as asus told you.
Now the explanation, note that I'm not knowledgeable about this thing, so I don't think could give a meaningful explanation.
From what I've read, LTE, on different country use different band (1700, 2100, etc). And by that, just say *not the real reason, just play along with it*, "device built by limiting hw capabilities to certain band, to work on region A, because that device didn't meant to work/used outside region A" . This might the reason, you could see asus with WW or TW variant. They limit the device hardware to work only with certain band range.
This is hardware, not software/firmware (if you compare it to like some "unlocked provider device") . So you can't do anything about it.
This is like, using CDMA phone with GSM card, they work at different band. AFAIK it didn't work, cmiiw.
Oh, IIRC, old phone (before Android born) mostly have triband (GSM) you might won't be able to use your device outside your country. Then, newer phone, till now, use quad band to support usability around the globe. cmiiw
I hope you get what I'm trying to say there~
I don't know what it mean about LTE aws 1 / aws 4, I don't think this is just band length (1700/2100).
