T-Mobile Use - ZTE Axon 7 Mini Questions & Answers

Anyone using the Axon 7 Mini with T-Mobile? If so, what is your experience and does the wi-fi calling feature work? Thank you.

Can't get votle to work and no wifi calling
Sent from my ZTE B2017G using XDA-Developers mobile app

More to this it seems after doing 4636 the volte is turned on(can't be turned off) but it doesn't seem to work?
Sent from my ZTE B2017G using XDA-Developers mobile app

I've had the axon 7 mini since October 31st, so I've had a few weeks with it on T-Mobile and it works just fine. Signal strength seems better than my Note 3. The camera wasn't as good as my Note 3 but I just got a software update yesterday that included improvements to the camera. Haven't had time to test it but nice to know they are pushing updates now.
I don't use Wi-Fi calling so I can't comment on that. Sorry.

T-Mobile WiFi calling doesn't work, there is no option for it in the settings. Of unlocked phones, I think the Nextbit Robin is the only one with that feature available. I got my Axon 7 Mini on 11/28/16. With the latest software update, VOLTE seems to work on T-Mobile, at least the HD symbol stays on during a call and the sound is very clear. Band 12 shows up using the LTE Discovery app, when I go to my basement to look for a weaker signal. I already have a software glitch, when I touch the ZTE Locker option under select a wallpaper under Settings, I get an "Unfortunately, Settings has stopped" error instead of the list of options. Restarting the phone doesn't fix it. Also, ZTE removed the settings option of placing a message on your lock screen, which is available with the pure version of Marshmallow 6.0.1.
The soft button for switching to the speakerphone has a 3-4 second delay after you push the button. On my ZTE Zmax2 the camera app had a nifty level with the 9 line grid on the screen which I found very useful. The Axon 7 Mini camera app has no grid lines options at all. For some reason, the phone did not include a Calculator app and it does not work with over-the-air FM radio apps. The proximity sensor doesn't seem to good, my face touching the screen has hung up on 2 people so far. Also, the ability to transfer certain apps to the SD card was removed from this phone. But it is still an option in stock Marshmallow.

no wifi calling. VoLTE is amazing

I am new to T-Mobile so can't comment about WiFi calling, but would like to correct some of the information in the 2nd portion of the post.
The 9 grid lines are available under the "Manual" mode. I wish they were available under "Photo" mode as well. There is a calculator app included under Toolkit. I suggest you don't bother. Get your favorite free calculator from the Play Store (there are a ton of them). The removal of moving apps to SD is not unique to ZTE, as many companies are experiencing problems with Android integration of SD into storage. My personal preference is to keep music, videos, map cache, and other media/data on the SD, and all apps on internal storage.

Thanks for the information. I see what you mean about the calculator, not even a memory function.

10 things that I hate about Gingerbread!

I really wonder why there is none of such thread here!
Gingerbread unfortunately brought only bad things to my Nexus. I already forgot why I was so crazy about installing it.
What feature did it introduce again?
Okay the response is much better and everything seems faster...but with lots of bugs?
That screen off animation? Seriously?
Things that I hate now:
- Battery Time: this is bad, can't even run half a day with lot of usage, b
efore I could listen to mp3's one day, ie. more than 4 hours without any problems...now
- Camera: either Cam or Video, the application crashes after I take a photo or video and then I can not connect to it anymore
- Gallery: often crashes, especially if you have an online photo account connected
- unlock screen: I use a pattern, often there is no overlay of what pattern I drag, still the screen can be unlocked
- Market: even if automatic updates activated, it only updates if you open the market and go to the "my apps" tab
- 3G and Wifi: if you are connected to wifi more than 15 minutes and then disconnect from it you do not get any 3G, you have to go to airplane mode and back, this bug appeared ages ago and was fixed, now back again...tells you a lot about their merging control, ie. sucks
- notification led: you know...
- apps: there are a lot of apps running even though I never used them since restart (see it in a task killer app)
- gps: on a random bases it tries to lock even though no app that uses gps is running
- phone reboot: it even rebooted without any notice two times since I installed it
(- Contacts: I still can't enter a simple thing like a birthday on an expensive phone like this)
MOD EDIT: Borderline trolling removed. If you switch OSes, that's your own choice. No one here is stopping you.
Got any troubles? Tell here.

4. Blank keyboard- fixed by switching to another keyboard and back again, or a reset
5. Blank Launcher- fixed with reset
6. In the stock SMS app a long press>delete conversation doesn't always delete the selected conversation; sometimes you have to do it twice.
As far as battery goes, my display is still the thing that takes up the most battery (which is normal) but I had been experiencing severe declines in battery life. Does the switch to 32-bit color require more processing power and therefore battery?
I *#*#4636#*#*>phone information and saw it was set to WCDMA preferred. I remember playing with the option when froyo came out but didn't remember what it was set to (Maybe Gingerbread reset the option...?). I changed it to GSM PRL (Auto), and have experienced increases in battery life, as my phone isn't hunting for 3G all the time- it uses a service provided list of tower locations.
The LED REALLY bugs me.
Hate about Gingerbread
No trackball wake
Juice Defender Doesn't work (but Green Power does - works well but with less flexibility than JD)
Short battery life
Useless keyboard selection gimmicks
- Market: even if automatic updates activated, it only updates if you open the market and go to the "my apps" tab

Well, glad to know mine isn't the only one that does this!!
On Froyo I would wake up in the morning to freshly updated apps that had updated automatically over night.
I have not had this happen a single time on Gingerbread, and nearly every time I go in to the market there are updates waiting.
What is the point of the automatic update feature when it doesn't work???

auto update never worked for me, even in froyo.
-Battery with CM7 roms
-Trackball wake blocked in non-CM7 roms
-More difficult to mod themes like statusbar (before we just had to change a png and now we have to edit a bunch of files)
So in summary GB roms are still not stable and complete, they have either TB wake missing or poor battery life too
My annoying issues?
- 2 second mic mute after I answer a call
- stock launcher choking after a while
Less annoying ones:
- Market does not automatically update apps
- gps activations without an apparent reason
My annoyances
In no particular order:
The cursor select triangle not lining up with the cursor
Launcher unresponsive/vanishing
Lockscreen pattern not showing (as in the OP)
Phone randomly stays awake at night
GPS turns itself off
Not able to view an apps wakelock any more
USB mount screen shows 'turn off' even when it isn't mounted (UK issue)
USB debugging icon doesn't appear, or doesn't turn off depending on how you enabled it
Exchange push is just crap now, I swear it's getting worse by the day

While I'm not a big Gingerbread lover at all, here are answers to some of the points:
Battery time is fine, at least in freshly installed ROMs it far exceeds what Froyo mastered.
Camera is your own problem - you didn't update radio, or your update went bad.
Gallery never crashed - again, your own problem (you get the feeling now, right?).
3G and WiFi - again, your own problem. No bug.
Apps - and why do you care? Isn't the "DO NOT USE TASK KILLER" thread clear enough? 150-200MB free RAM aren't self-explanatory?
Due to your comments, you might really consider switching to Apple. It would be beneficial both for you and for this forum.
Or you could back up user data, wipe, install new radio and bootloader, load fresh Gingerbread ROM (NOT CM7 or CM7-based), and have most of your points addressed.
Now, having said that, if you want a much better overall feel - install Froyo-based Desire port, or if you don't have any use for Hotspot - DesireHD port. I hate using barebone Android after some experience with it.
have you guys heard about Cyanogenmod ROM? I am using CM7 RC4 and I have no problems that anyone mentioned in this thread....
Maybe you haven't heard that your experience not necessarily represents anything.
For me (and another 2 guys that asked me to reinstall other ROM on their Nexus Ones), CM7 was a huge, awful pile of bugs. Starting with the ill-famous "wonk".
Plus, again, after having some SenseUI I don't really want to go back to plain Android, and wouldn't suggest it to anyone looking for a good overall experience.
I have an occasional problem with the application tray where it stutters, flashes and doesn't scroll properly. It seems to happen only after exiting certain apps, and needs the launcher to be force closed to fix.

Just lost all credibility in my book...
I would suggest the OP decides what features he/she wants in a ROM and then try a few different ones out. There are plenty to cater to all tastes and i'm sure they'll be able to find one that works well for them.
1. exchange sync stops syncing without any reason. can't start a manual sync. only reboot of the phone helps for a short period of time. needs a fix very urgently.
2. TINY TINY notification icons...the worst idea google had for the GB update. i cannot see the difference between the gmail and exchange mail icon on normal usage in example.
There are some more points which i also mentioned in my blog about gingerbread for nexus one:

Thread Cleaned
Let's play nicely in here and keep this on-topic. This is not the place to discuss other operating systems. This is about issues pertaining to the OTA Gingerbread updates.
Thanks,
Your loving moderator.
One bug and one annoying change:
- The instability of the launchers. I hope they address this.
- The inaccessible GPS toggle. Tasker can't access it and neither can the toggle widgets. Why did they change this?
my mms sometimes does not send if i configure 2 APNs (one for mobile data and one for mms), while i disable the one for mobile data...
it's working fine on Froyo and CM6 before

QFT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Auto brightness adjustment no longer fades, now it just jump straight to the target brightness which is quite abrupt visually.
And of course... trackball wake is gone.
I concur with these points:
- Battery Time: this is bad, can't even run half a day
- Gallery: often crashes, especially if you have an online photo account connected
- Market: even if automatic updates activated, it only updates if you open the market and go to the "my apps" tab
- GPS: on a random bases it tries to lock even though no app that uses gps is running
- Creating shortcuts on desktop: sometimes you can't drag/drop icons to the desktop or to a different spot on the desktop.
- The cursor select triangle not lining up with the cursor
- Auto brightness adjustment no longer fades, now it just jump straight to full bright or full dim.
As for the people suggesting we update the radio and try different roms, while that is primarily what this board is about, it doesn't "solve" anything. This is a stock Nexus One with official everything. If it doesn't work then it doesn't work.

Lollipop impression and bugs report

Didn't see a thread for it, so here is what I have to save after playing with it for the last couple of days....
issue/bug
-Notification LED for msg, emails doesn't work anymore
-xloud is missing, clearaudio+ has no effect on or off
-miracast is still broken pass android 4.2. Tried my MS wireless display, Keep saying HDCP no supported
-some of the motion sensing and eye tracking features from Z2 and Z3 are not in it, guess we will never get them.
-real time iso cause camera to be super laggy.
-keyboard doesn't seems to recognize the enter key, suggested word stuck on top and paste text on next time I type.
New features
-Ultra stamina mode is in
Pause random pause in the beginning of media playback on chrome, opera and other browsers based on chromium.
Sometimes in the beginning when you press pause during the random pause, media still plays.
Clear audio is working fine but not as good as KK or maybe it was mod from previous ROM not sure.
WiFi icon bigger that other icons in statusbar
When using GravityBox LP recents button icon becomes smaller. Using Softkeyz to swap navbar icon solves this.
fm radio only works when the app in open, switch to another app and radio stops
Move to sd card does not work for me: phone tells me internal storage is full then asks me to transfer data to sd card, I press yes, then I need to mount my already mounted sd card, when I press mount it redirects me to the app page but for every app the move to sd card button is grayed then the phone asks me to transfer again and it says my sd card is once again not mounted.... Infinite loop....

- 60 FPS 1080 video record not work.
- Auto use speaker when phone call.
- Some time lag when back to home screen.
Will add more when I found
Sometimes foreground app crashes(closes) with no error, this happened 3 times for me, one in clash of clans and two in instagram.

how did you guys update?
for me i did the update with pc companion and have none of the issues mentioned in this thread. i use customized france firmware. before update i unrooted manually and decided to wait until adapted rooting method is availiable.
with 5.0.2 my device runs faster with great battery life. also antutu score raised to 40k comming from 33k.
Old timeshift burst photo is saved as imdividual photos.
battery drain is tooo fast... cant barely last a half day of normal usage.. wiped to factory reset, still the same
Gmail is not syncing anymore. Locked, unlocked, stamina on or off, nothing.
I reset it, flash it, deleted account, cleared both caches and cleared data on most of the sync related services and Gmail, again nothing.
Anybody else having this?
The battery is also going too fast.
Don't have any of those issues, maybe wait for the rom to settle
Audio effects sems to be broken! When i enable them in poweramp the Musik Keeps playing but not sound comming out of the Speaker, headphones or Bluetooth Speakers. When i disable them all is fine.when I trie to activate the effects in Sonys walkman app these Settings have no impact. Useless so far . Srry for my bad english

I also experienced this one. App crashes without notice, it just stays with the live wallpaper blank. Live wallpaper is moving as you touch the screen but no launcher or any app shows even when swiped from the edges. The only fix is to hold power button and click Restart. That's it.
And mine was full wiped for Lollipop.

Mine is working but not noticeable when compared to Kitkat build. This may be due to the new SoundEnhancement.apk packed in Lollipop update

Difficulties with this phone.

My main phone for the past year and a half has been a Huawei mediapad x2. Tmobile had the black Friday trade in deal for this phone, so I turned in my very unreliable note 4 and hoped to have a very nice, very affordable 2nd phone, with LTE to boot (mediapad only gets hspa +)
Fast forward a couple days and I have a lot of issues with this phone. With the stock app load out plus Facebook messenger and pie Control, I get an error every time I try to give permission to an app that a screen overlay is detected. Running marshmallow on the mediapad did not give this issue. Both of these apps are mandatory for me, but the error forces me to turn off drawing over apps any time I want to set a new permission. Very inconvenient. Is there any stock tmobile app that might be causing a conflict?
Second, piecontrol seems to think the edge pixels on both sides are dead pixels, as does Swift key, making typing a p a real chore. Are the edges supposed to respond to touch?
Finally, YouTube freeze frames when I change orientation or pop out of and back into the app. Not even the thumbnail, it just freezes up on a frame and won't resume proper playback until I pause the video, leave the app, come back, and resume it.
Any advice on any of these issues?
I've noticed that if I have a chat head open, it says to turn off screen overlay. Once I close out of the chat head, it allows me to give permission. I'm sure the same can be said for any app that is currently laying over the top of another app. Try closing whatever is on top and let me know. For what it's worth, once Nouget is released, you won't have that issue anymore. I'm currently running the beta of 7.0
Closing out the chat head unfortunately did not fix my issue. Is there any other ways to work around this?
Snap despite drawer also causes the overlay issue.
I do not think any of the problems posted are related to the phone.
Sent from my SM-G935T using XDA-Developers mobile app
I'll look into exchanging it then, it struck me as odd that a top tier phone like this struggles with YouTube, which I must have.
I exchanged the phone for an identical device. Every issue persists as before. Of the issues I mentioned, the app overlay detected is grueling and the YouTube issues are highest priority to deal with. Is there any sort of app I can use to collect feedback, or would providing a list of all apps on the phone help?
If it matters at all, I have the newer coral blue variant, I don't know if that could possibly have different software than the ones that launched earlier this year.

My Journey from Note 4 to Mate 9 Thread

As you will notice from my signature, I had tried a move to a LG V20, but I came back to the Note 4. So, I'm tracking my attempt to have a happiness with the Mate 9. Putting my notes and info here.
I'm in U.S., and so have North America version. Received it this afternoon, and have had a SIM card set up in it.
I'll document as I go for my results on setup. Not starting off great:
Restoring Data
Phone Clone
Tried this first. On the Mate 9, all I could get was the spinning hour glass (or whatever it's called). Would never come up with the QR code that is needed to mate to the old phone.
So I moved to...
Hisuite
So, I installed Hisuite on my laptop. Below are instructions followed with results:
Instlal Hisuite on Laptop - Success
Plug Huawei device to the computer, and touch restore data in Hisuite. ... Well, first thing I was wondering was how was the laptop to be able to ge the data from teh old phone? So, I proceeded
So my device is found, as the PC came up with a box to select how to use the device. But I see no option to restore data. I noticed a note at the bottom that it will not connect if charging only for usb is selected. So the instructions say...
Touch Settings - success
Then touch Security and Privacy ... There is no Security and Privacy specifically to touch, but there is a category called Security and Privacy, and a Security option to touch. But, I did find the Security option, and clicked it and found the option to allow Hisuite.
So, now, having done all that, I see the phone connected. But I see absolutely no way to get my data: messages, phone log, etc from my oldphone to the new one.
Pretty unimpressed at this point.
Tried Phone Clone again. Nothing.
If anyone has any suggestions...it's appreciated.
I managed to get my SMS and call logs by using SMS Backup and Restore. Had to move files around via dropbox.
Observations
I'm finding that as I run apps, the common pop-up about needing rights often freezes and I need to go into Settings/Apps and assign priviledges. Not sure if this is a common issue for others or not.
Phone, of course, is performing well.
Screen resolution is fine for me
Fingerprint reader is very fast. I had come to really like the finger print reader on the back while using the V20. I'm having to get used to it not also being the power button.
I am finding that various things that fill the page and are white hides the on-screen buttons. I don't recall that as an issue when I was trying out the V20.
The email app is going to take some getting used to. I am very used to the Samsung email app, which I liked better than Gmail.
Stick with it. This phones menus and ways of doing certain actions is different than Sammy or LG. But I really like that. Once u use it for a bit. You'll love it!!!

I plan to. Liking it so far...but...
The GPS is getting zero satellites. Not working. I do have high accuracy turned on (Use GPS and Wifi). Loaded GPS Test, and no sats visible.
Another issue with first drive...when the screen goes off, intermittently it shuts down Pandora. I checked the Battery Optimizations to make sure Pandora is NOT set to close when screen is off, and it is not.
I'm on hold now with B&H Photo. I'm guessing I'll be exchanging it. PITA...but I'll l give one more a try.
Obesrvations (other than above issues)
Battery is looking like it will be great
I like that the icon in the noti bar shows what AP I'm hooked to
Volume is very good. Sound is OK (better for sure than Note 4)
I'd like to have dark notifications. Haven't checked to see if ther is a way to do that yet.
[EDIT]
I just checked. I was on FW 138. There is an update to 183. I'm downloading it now. If GPS still doesn't work, my next task is to call Huawei support...then if no good, exchange.

Battery right now:
30%
9 hr 33 min
4 hr 22 min
Definitely better than my Note 4. Not sure it's up to what some claim. But I think I'm going to be happy with it.
Good news on GPS: the 183 update got the GPS to functioning. Haven't done much other than be sure it is working. Out of interest, soon I plan to do a walk and see how it goes. That type of GPS tracking is what most folks complain about re: the GPS.
Observations
Lightflow does not work with the LEDs on Huawai phones
I installed Light Manager, which works when I test LEDs from teh app,.I had quite a bit of trouble getting it to work, but it appears that just now I did. NOTE: it appears that if you do NOT have PULSE LED on, that the LED does not work at all.
Interesting: If Hold to Ear to Answer is on, and phone is face down on a table, and a call comes in...it does not ring. It answers. Not exactly what should be expected.
I tried Lightflow again, and it IS working now. I uninstalled and reinstalled.
Observation
I wish I had purchased a dark phone which would come with a dark bezel. The LED is very small and not very bright. Makes it almost impossible to see if anywhere near sunlight.
The Note 4 definitely outshines the Mate 9 with regard to three LED.
Well, my Lightflow is giving me problems. It's intermittent. I think the problem may be related to my having restored the configuration from my install on the Samsung. Intent was to get all the LED settings for the various apps. But I think some specific Samsung related settings came in.
The interesting thing is that I can uninstall, and delete anything in the SD card that has Lightflow in the name, but then the next install, the previously restored settings are there. So I need to find out how to get that out.
All that being said, the Light Manager app is working pretty good. Just not as many options.
Today's Observations
GPS is working well for driving. Still need to test it for a walk
For anyone on a Note 4: be aware that the Mate 9 has proprietary charging. That was something that contributed to keeping me away from the Oneplus 3t. But I overlooked it for the other pluses of this phone. I have read that Power Delivery chargers work better than QC, but not as good as the stock Huawei one. I have a PD on order for my car. We'll see
The issue where a pop up comes up for rights needed is a PITA. It often locks up the app, and I have to go into Apps/Permissions and grant them there.
So far each BT device I have added is working well. (Problems with BT was the straw that made me pull the plug on the V20)
Had screen on for quite a while with GPS app. Phone did run just a bit warm. In fact, it seemed to be warm for quite a while after turning off the GPS software and browsing through a store
Current feeling about the move to the Mate 9 from the Note 4
I'm feeling very positive. I think the 4K battery will be a real plus. If I can just get a full day out of it I'll be happy. I think it is hopeful for that.
Performance is very good.
Size is perfect. Almost identical to my Note 4, 1/4" taller. I am able to use the Spigen holster from the Note 4. However I need to get a case that has at least hard edges so it will slide through the clip w/o pushing the case back.
Loving the fingerprint scanner on the back.
I hope this thread is helpful for someone.

Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I'm taking the trip from Note 4 myself. I would love to see how quickly the Power Delivery charges your phone vs QC 3, seems like an interesting new charging technology.

I'll be sure to post results.
I did the same change, Note4 > Mate 9.
I did however managed to get my phone cloned via the tap & send thing, I got it all on my new phone.
It's been a couple interesting days.
I got the 2 Led apps working: Lightflow, and Light Manager. A fresh install of Lightflow, with NOT restoring my previous configuration worked for it, so I stayed with it.
But the next day neither would work. WTF! I messed with it for a while, and could not get it working. I found another app, LED Pro, and it is on it's second day of working.
Then this morning my daughter called my wife and told her she had called me twice, and the phone answered but I wasn'on theh line...she could here the TV. Here's my thread about figuring out that problem.
Ready to declare success...keeping the phone
I am really enjoying the phone. albeit with expected new phone type learning curve to go through.
PROS
Very fast
Screen size very close to same as Note 4...1/4" taller
While I would liked to have 6GB of memory, the 4GB seems to be fine. Every time I've checked, I've had over 1GB free. Right now, I have 1.86GB free.
Some really nice features: Loving the instantlly responsive finger print reader on the back...fits just. right for my hand
Slide finger down the FP reader to bring down the notifications. Slide up on it to close.
Camera features are nice
Sound with stereo speakers better (but of course not like using headphones)
Charging is fast, but so is Note 4
Larger battery, at 4000, is lasting me well
Con
Proprietary charger
Small Led. I would recommend getting a phone that has a black bezel rather than white so that there will be more contrast between the light and bezel. I have a white bezel, and it makes that small, dim, LED hard to see
Some apps may not be compatible. Specifically LED related apps
There may be more pros and cons, but that's the list i can think of now. Others may chime in if they think of more.
So, maybe some day I will root, and I will add to this post of how rooting goes compared to Samsung. For now, I'm holding of of rooting.
Yep !!

Sounds good. I have found more interesting things, likely can'at think of them all.
But one neat feature is this: When phone screen is off. there is a setting in the camera where you can double click the down volume and it will open and take a picture. Pretty cool.
Battery is lasting all day with no need to top off, and providing 5 hours SOT.
BT has been working good on everything I hook it to.
GPS is working good for driving and walking tracking.
check for firmware updat b190.... ( usa )
i also came from the note 4. leds drove me nuts. i now use an app called led blinker pro which puts a led(dot) right on the screen. it works great and is set in different colors for different apps.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ledblinker.pro
Thanks for pointing out the update.
I am using LEDBlinker Pro. Only led so I could get to work consistently on this phone.
So far I haven't the screen fur the notification yet.
Anther great feature...
This past week I found something happening in this phone that I had wished would happen on my Note 4: the WiFi will connect automatically to the stronger point. For example, when in the rear area of my house it will hook to the access point in my wife's scrapbooking room. If I get up and go to the office in the front of the house, it will disconnect from the one in the back and connect to the one in the office. Really nice. This is known in the settings as WiFi+.
Another Note 4 devotee who's moved to the Mate 9 - I'm in Australia and I've had the phone for 3 days.
Keep us posted on how it goes. Particularly the things that stand out.
I'm on the mate 9, had it four months, Chinese version, 6gb, 128gb, ufs 2.1 (fast ram, not the slower stuff that some have) running international ROM C636. Battery life is absolutely stellar however the camera IS a let down. Low light mode is better than the note 4 hands down but the Note does hold its own for video and day mode shots (superior fur video no question, especially 4K). Panoramic mode is mediocre. The camera for me is hit and miss, the one thing I dislike about the phone and the poor video stability.
I've been back to my note 4 a few times and will likely get the 7 when it's re-released next month but know the battery life will be an issue.
Mate 9 is a great phone that's let down by a camera that promises so much but fails to match the likes of the S7. If that's not important to you then you will love the mate.

[Bug] Official Oreo Quick Settings Panel

Hi,
After Oreo update, I noticed the following in the quick settings: before the update when clicking once for example on the WiFi toggle, it opened a secondary panel always inside the same place; now it just turns off/on the WiFi. This issue is not related to Android Oreo itself because Google Pixel phones work well. It's OxygenOS-related.
It seems we are loosing functionalities now...

You mean instead of showing you available networks now it switches the WiFi on/off?

I think this is what he meant because I have this behavior too. It's switching features on or off instead of showing additional options as it was on Nougat. I don't know if this is OOS "feature" or not.

It's there in most custom ROMs, most likely a feature. I've been waiting for it in an OOTB ROM.
I must say, I do definitely miss this. I have a wifi repeater in my house and have to often quickly change the wifi network. Sure, it adds a couple of extra seconds - not the end of the world. But, it's the same for WIFI and Bluetooth ( I use lots of Bluetooth devices too). I hope this gets added back in a future update.

Before it was single press in the fully open quick settings to change your wifi network without launching into the Settings UI. Now, it toggles if you press with it semi-open and fully open, and long-press opens the UI. Personally, I preferred it the way before, but I'm sure this is entirely subjective.
That's not the most annoying thing anyway, the folder layout on the stock launcher I just can't get used to. (I know that's been present for a while now, but I refrained from updating the launcher until this update forced it)
