[Q] What to check before trying a new rom?

Hello all,
I just inherited a Samsung GT-S5360L phone from my father and i wanted to try some roms. Some of the available roms seem pretty cool, but i have noticed a small detail, my phone model ends with an L, and the roms available dont.
This is probably because my cellphone is a southamerican model. So, My main question is, what should i check before flashing a rom into my S5360L in order to avoid problems?
I am mainly worried about loosing the 3G signal (or the whole phone signal) if i flash an incorrect rom. I read some posts that said that i should use a specic CSC.
Can anyone explain to me a litle more about this? Do i need to flash the ROM and my original CSC files in order for the rom to work with my operators, or the process is different?
Thanks in advance.
Solution!
Sir,
You must have bought your Galaxy Y with some Carrier! That why it end with a "L", But that does not matter! To prevent bricking ur phone just follow the correct installation instruction.. If you brick your GY there is a guide in the general section to restore back! Make a Nandroid Backup first of all and then Flash GT-S5360 Firmware (The one preferred in the Rom's installation guide I hope this helps! As much as I know, all roms will work :fingers-crossed:

to ensure installation success please download "Galaxy Toolbox" by doky in the playstore and unlock your network (if it is sim/carrier locked)
then follow all instructions provided by the rom authors to ensure success,
if in case all else fails just reflash to a stock rom via odin, not to worry since any stock rom will do
thanks for the information guys. I know any rom should work, i do it in mi LG Optimus2x but i had a samsung phone before (galaxy spica) and i had some troubles after flashing some custom roms, where i would only be able to have 2G signal and not 3G, or in some cases have no connectivity at all. I will give some roms a try and see how everyhting goes (and do a backup first, hehehe).
thanks again.

LTE: I could use some help, what am I doing wrong?

Hello all,
I was wondering if someone can help me. It seems that no matter which rom I install on my Moto G4 Plus (XT1644) I can’t seem to get LTE working. I only get 3G, I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I don’t know if this helps or not, but my service provider is Sprint. I’ve tried *#*#4636#*#* and cycled through different network types and this hasn’t helped. I’ve also tried reverting to the stock rom so I can update the PRL and reinstall a custom rom; this also does not work. Any suggestions would be helpful and greatly appreciated, thanks in advance!
The bootloader is unlocked
TWRP is flashed
Note: I’ve tried searching through the forums, but most of the useful information is not for the XT1644 variant.

CDMA To GSM on any Custom Rom

Hello, guys, how are you ...?
I recently bought a galaxy s4 from verizon, as you know this device comes with the bootloader blocked so it does not allow changes in the system: (neither TWRP nor Roms anything, only root and module changes by flash fire) so I decided to buy a board of a SPH-L720 that works perfectly, until all very well the board brought stock rom and everything was great as far as wireless networks, so I decided to do root and change the recovery to install octos everything came out Good and booom! I had android 7.1.1 running on my sph l720, but there was a small problem THE MOBILE NET NOT WORKED anything 3g or 4g or anything, also in the settings did not allow to select preferred network type because it gave me a Error when doing it also with the code * # * # 4636 # * # * when selecting the gsm returned to LTE / CDMA and this was starting to annoy me so much because in my country CDMA is not useful and I was without service.
It happens that apparently the developers of this rom and the 10 most that proves they forgot to put in the build.pro the global network mode as preferred, so the cell phone only worked with LTE / CDMA and nothing else, so Try more than 20 ways install again stock and worked the network (but did not want stock wanted 7.1.1) so change the baseband and nothing at all this took me more than 4 days parting my eyes for a stupid error of the build. Prop so I found a tutorial on the net that gave me the link to a zip file flasheable by recovery and ready after 3 minutes select from 3g boomer and booom my cell running on 3g full and no signal decay thanks To all because I read all the help post and no one answered
Please send me imbox to pass the link since being new could not upload the link I will give them free
Hi, can you send me the information to [email protected].

Hello Can you send link to me? I really need it. Mail: [email protected]
Idiots fall for anything.
I'm guessing that the OP was just spreading some BS, but I actually came here today looking for something that will allow GSM service on custom ROMs. My LG G3 just crapped out, so I had to get my 720T unlocked so I could use it on AT&T until I can afford to get something better. It works well enough on the stock ROM (although 3G kinda sucks) but it constantly switches between US Cellular and AT&T when I'm running a custom ROM, making it effectively useless.
Anyone know of any ROMs that can be flashed on the 720T that will enable GSM networks; any way to modify the popular ROMs floating around so they'll do what I need?

Moto g5 plus, single SIM, no LTE on custom ROM?!

Moto g5 plus 64g (single SIM),unlocked bootloader, root...4g works fine on stock ROM rooted w/Xposed
. ..and that's great but Ive flashed custom ROMs
Resurrection
...and Halogen
... and Desolation
... and they are very nice ROM s but I only get 3g (no LTE) and the only info I find on this is a quick-fix w/jio SIM using a DUAL SIM. .... Am I the only unlucky human w/a single SIM 3g problem?
I was so excited about this phone, thought I did all of my research , bought TWO 64g g5 plus phones(not 32g no way because I wanted to BEST lol but its single sim, stupid me).
...should I just give up on custom ROMs ? ...or is there something can be done?
Ive being at this for 2 weeks now...Any/all info very appreciated.
I would've posted in other forum but wouldn't let me due to lack of status....or rep...or bling..or something.
Do you have correct APN set? On some custom ROMs I have installed I had to change APN, because it was set to first in the list by default.
I dont know much about APN ...not durecwhst it's suppose to be set at..im boost mobile.. I'll start researching that next ..thanks brother
No luck.
I found the APN settings on Boost mobile site, I set/saved that to no avail.
I went back to stock/rooted and 4g works fine. But no matter which custom ROM I use I still only have 3g.
Surely someone somewhere knows how to set/fix this.
Can a Mod move this to where someone may have hands-on with this 3g vs 4g issue? Dev or someone?
Month later...5 custom roms later...still either no 4g on custom rom or no camera on simple root w magisk. I still can't post in Dev forum.
No LTE

Have the same problem, how did u go back to stock? TWRP restore? or did you fastboot flash stock fireware? I'm not sure if it makes a difference but after reading a few of these it looks like stock firmware may need to be reflashed with fastboot then start flashing custom ROMs with twrp. If you get the answer let me know if i find out I'll let you know?
Thanks
Update: yes there are ROMs that will fix the LTE problem, I was reading someone with a connection problem someone suggested downloading stock debloated , another suggested AOKP, downloaded both , first I tried debloated got LTE , then flashed the other, for VoLTE. Also I'm not sure if this is correct or not but fastboot flashing modems may work I'm not exactly sure and would need to look it up further is something else I read but didn't try as its 2:00am and I'm being yelled at by a hidden speaker in my kitchen which is why it took so long for me to even try to look for a reason because I've been getting yelled at so long I think I got cancer, I hope Santa brings them a tall glass of shut the f up so I get one day without being yelled at , also Lineage 15 says LTE working. I haven't used it since I don't want to mess with 8.0 right now. MeryXMaz
I'm havin the same issue. Also with Boost Mobile. Most other devices I've rooted have had some sort of boost/sprint/virgin APN fix .zip. But I donno....

Thanks for responding. I still haven't found a fix for the LTE. I will try to aokp again maybe something has been fixed or added. I did fix my camera problem by flashing elementalX so that's good. But not having LTE is not cool. And I also did not want to message w 8.0 yet.
So I tried AOKP to no avail. Still no 4g/LTE. That's time I'll never get back lol.
had the same problem XenonHD seems to work well...
I'll try it thanks
Hoping it'll get better with the official 8.0 release.

How to reset radio band for the Axon 7?

I've been having a horrible couple days now On Wednesday I got a new data SIM for my Axon 7 (ZTE A2017G_8346) but it had less than 8kbps speed since apparently the Axon 7 auto switches to 2G when 3G signal is low. So I found this guide online that told me
to dial *#*#4636#*#* and make some advanced selections (WCDMA only) there. In the end I managed to mistakenly change the radio band to US and now I can't use a SIM card at all. My Axon 7 is a clean non rooted phone and has Android version 6.0.1
Can anyone help me to reset the radio band to default? I read that flashing a stock ROM might fix this but I have no idea what that means. If I need to "flash a stock ROM" then can someone also please give me a link to the stock ROM? I also read that a factory reset won't help. Another solution I found on this forum here for a Moto G5 looked promising but I couldn't get through step 9 since I got an error saying the command failed.
I can't go to a service center because I bought the phone in Germany and I'm now living somewhere else. I really need some help!! Thanks in advance!

I didn't really think about upgrading since I was happy with the stock version.
