Google inbox doesn't scroll in emails on this phone - LeEco Le Pro3 Questions & Answers

Hi,
Can anyone suggest why I can't scroll in Google's inbox app in an actual email?
I can scroll the list of e-mails. I can scroll in every other program but I can't scroll down while reading an email. I can scroll up but it closes the email. Is there some hidden setting somewhere that will help.
Thanks
Ben

That's really weird. I don't seem to have a problem with Google inbox. Maybe try uninstall and reinstalling? I can't think of a specific setting that might be causing that issue for you.

Few questions.

Is there any way to stop the contacts on my sim from showing up in contacts ? I only want the ones I have put in the phone to be visible. I cant find an option to view only contacts and not contacts and sim.
Is there a quick way via the on screen keyboard to select all items ie in your text inbox or email inbox or hotmail inbox etc. I keep having to drag the pen all the way down over the items and then holding down and selecting delete.
Shift and down didnt seem to work like on a pc unless im doing it wrong.
Also is there any way to check for email on my pop 3 and hotmail without having to select each account ?
Cheers

Gmail Solution

Here it is. Go Into your Gmail settings on your desktop computer. click on settings in the upper right corner, click on Forwarding and POP/IMAP, disable IMAP and enable POP for all email. I also selected delete Gmail when accessed with POP.
This solves the problem with email notification not disappearing immediately after you click on the email, it gets you all your email promptly and it does not show emails in your inbox, for ex. you have 3 unread emails, you go to check and there are not any? So it fixes that issue. It syncs perfectly with the desktop sever. I had constant problem with above issues. So yeah the culprit seems to be IMAP. I tested this on Froyo and 2.1 Vanilla. Works for both. I imagine it will work on Sense too.
I just noticed this problem last night.. the Gmail Unread Count widget tells me 6 new emails, the Gmail app says Inbox (6) at the top, but there are no unread messages! Going to Gmail on my desktop shows no mention of these 6 supposedly unread emails.
Just tried your trick, but the problem's still there. Running Froyo here.

I'm in the US, maybe that makes a difference. Also on stock froyo. It works perfect now. Make sure you have changed your settings correctly. I checked settings again and posted information is correct.

So what exactly is the gmail problem that requires this solution? Your description is quite convoluted and confusing. Email notification not disappearing when you expect it to, or messages not showing in your inbox? Either way seems to me like nxt says. Probably just a case of your mail being hidden in your SPAM label.
Notification tells me there is new gmail. I tap the notification and read the mail. Return to home screen and notification has gone. Bog standard and it works perfectly fine for me.

I'm in the U.S. too, on T-Mo.
I tried the old 'lets reboot and see what happens', and now it's all working perfectly. Thanks for the tip!
Does no-one else use gmail push via the normal email app?

I guess there's a lack of features when compared?

Cool. Good you figured it out. I'm glad helped out someone. I couldn't figure out why everytime I checked my inbox there wouldn't be any messages. I went to desktop and saw the messages in my inbox that I had already read. Also once you click on notification you have to hit back arrow to get the notification to disappear. Solved that as well.

This happens to all versions of android. Its just not syncing with gmail correctly, so you phone shows no new emails, but says thier is 5 unread. If you log on to gmail you will see emails you marked as read unread. All you got to do to fix is to mark them as read from within gmail web client.

What do you mean by "Phone....says there is 5 unread". I assume you mean the Gmail client on your phone lists them in BOLD? If so, how can you say in the next breath "If you log on to gmail you will see emails you marked as read unread" ? You have just said they are unread on the Phone side, so why would you expect to see them as marked read in gmail web client.
I can toggle messages on the phone between read and unread and within a few seconds the changes are reflected in the gmail web client. So all good here.
Perhaps it can happen to all version but it does not happen to everyone. If it was a widespread issue, I think we would be hearing a lot more fuss about it. My Gmail works fine and does not do what you describe. I have IMAP enabled.

Honestly, the stock GMail app works like a charm for me; I haven't had to do any changing on my accounts. Heck, I was able to sync my University of Phoenix e-mail account as we use GMail as well.
Easy fix
All you have to do is select on labels, go to all mail, it will show a message you have previously read as unread. Then just mark it read again and problem is solved.

This has happened to me on a few occasions too. What he means is that when you get a Gmail notification THEN you check it with your phone and lets say you delete it with your phone. However, the next time you get sent an email and get a notification, when you check your gmail it will list your unread emails as (2) instead of (1). When you go into your gmail application to check, it also says unread (2), BUT you will only see one email.
Now if you go and check your Gmail using your computer, you will see both the emails, the one you read then deleted and the one you just received.
I know this is not a widespread problem because this has happened intermittently to me and has not happened for a while.
But good job on finding a fix for those that do suffer this small but annoying sync problem.

This is the bit where you guys have me confused. The only way I can tell unread messages in the gmail on my phone is by the bolding and the corresponding number in brackets in the header. So I cannot see how you can get the conflicting info within the gmail app itself on the phone?
Inbox (2)

Clearly I am missing something obvious. I can conceive how the Gmail notification bar indicator count could differ. But I cant see where you see the difference within the android gmail app itself. Is it that you get a different number of bold messages to the number in brackets?
In any case - main thing is you got the problem sorted I guess.
I used to get the gmail error but since upgrading to 2.2 beta it works so smoothly now.
Why are you redirecting your gmail account to the email application through exchange anyways?
The gmail application supports push.

Basically the number in the brackets show you have 2 unread emails but your phone gmail client isn't showing any unread messages. They are all gray and read. Then if you log on to the web client you will see 2 unread messages.
Its just a simple sync issue.
Better solution to the sync issue (where for example the phone says Inbox(2) but shows no unread messages):
Manage applications, filter all, Gmail Storage. Clear data. Then re-open Gmail and let it resync. This always fixes it for me.
I only ever get this problem after a) flashing a new ROM or backup, or b) turning on a phone I haven't used in a while.

[Q] Phantom e-mail alerts

Apologies if this has been covered at lengthy already, if so just give me a link and lock this thread...
I've had my vibrant for a couple weeks. It's all stock with a handful of apps downloaded. I have two email accounts linked (synced), one with gmail.com and one with comcast.net.
The problem is with the comcast account. On a daily basis, I get an alert(s) about new messages. I check, and there's nothing new. Sometimes I check, and I see emails that I've previously deleted. I have the "incoming server settings" set to delete email from server "when i delete from inbox."
Anyone else hear about or have this problem? Any solutions, advice, or settings I should check?
Thanks for any feedback.
I am getting the same issues. I have 2 hotmail accounts and gmail. I get ghost hotmail emails. I get a notification that I get a new email. I check my computer to make sure its not there, and its not in the phone either but I still get a notification that i received a new email.
This happens because the email app downloads 25 messages, so when you delete one you get and read, then you would have 24 emails, so the phone will download the next oldest on the server to have 25 emails, so the "new email" is actually all the way to the bottom and its old in the server but marked as unread on the phone... solve it by downloading all your emails to the phone, not just 25

If this is true, that's horrible! I have thousands of emails from years ago that I do not want to download to my phone every time I delete 1 email.

Thanks for the info! But, to download all my emails instead of just 25, do I have to change a setting or something? I can't figure out where to make the change.
I've also noticed that new mail will show up and it's not in your
main mailbox but, bulk, junk etc....
You can change t on settings (press and hold the account name until menu pops up) or you can scroll to the bottom after the last email and tap "download more messages" and it will download the next 25. I never have over 50 emails on my Hotmail inbox (use folders) so by doing that its downloading everything on the server so when I delete a junk email I just got, there are no more messages to download, they're all on the pone so I wont get that notification of "new email"

I had the same issue, ended up just deleting my pop... the main problem I had that pushed me over the edge was, I would get a new email, click notification, it opens up the client, and before I can click on it, the e-mail dissapears, so I have to log into webmail to read it...

Thanks, I see what you mean now about the "new" email actually being the oldest one way down at the bottom. This is bugging me because when I click "load more messages" it seems to just think for a long time and never finish.
I'm still having trouble finding the place to adjust this in settings. When I click settings, then accounts and sync, I see the account in the list. A long press does nothing. A soft press bring up options for syncing contacts and syncing calendar, but nothing on how many emails to download. (I am noticing that even though this is my main email account, it's associating it with Facebook, there's a big "F" icon.)
Also, I logged in to the account online and I seem to have lost TONS of old emails I was saving in my inbox. I can get over that, I guess, but still. Ow.
To see the settings of how many emails to download, go to the email app, not to settings, on the email app, you will see a list of accounts you have (if u have more than one) in that case long press the account u wanna change and a menu will pop up, one of the options on that menu is settings. If you only have one account, when u open the email app it takes you to the inbox, press the.menu button and then press "accounts" and you will see the one account that you can long press

Thanks for the continued assistance. i only have one account, so I opened the email app, clicked menu, clicked accounts, long pressed my email account and clicked on account settings.
The attributes it allows me to adjust there are: account name, your name, email check frequency, default account, email notifications, select ringtone, vibrate, incoming settings, outgoing settings, forward with attachment and signature,
I just don't see anything about how many messages to download. hmm.

I think the option to download more messages is only available if you have your email account set up for a POP connection, not imap... I think.
However, I get phantom email notifications all the time on my imap connection. This weekend I got a bunch, but I wasn't doing anything with my email (no new messages, no reads, no deletes). At one point on Sunday it said i had 25 unread email messages on my work account, but I had none! (no junk messages either)

[Q] Desktop icon to open specific email account?

I have searched high and low but cannot find a solution for me on this problem. I am running the Gingerbread RC by AT&T and have been using GO Launcher EX for a while now. I cannot find an option to make a shortcut to a specific email account's inbox. The default EMail link goes to the phones default account, and the messaging icon goes to the list of all the accounts. I would like to make it so that I can have individual icons for each email account, like Blackberry does is the best description. I have tried AnyCut, K9 (which sucks for exchange), and about anything else I have read.
Only thing I will not do is change my launcher applications. Please help me if you have any ideas.
For Gmail, long press home screen, shortcuts, select Gmail labels, select Gmail account, select which folder, I.e. inbox, shortcut created.
May be same for other email.
Hope this helps.

[Q] Anyone else's SMS getting synced to email?

When I get a text, my texts also get synced with my outlook and ends up in my inbox. Obviously, I don't want this to happen. I've been through the SMS app settings, and haven't found an option related to this problem.
Anyone have this problem/know of a way to fix this?
Thanks!

Assuming you mean exchange mail, it does sync it. Just disable it.. In the mail client, choose settings - choose the account - scrol to the bottom and choose "more settings", and it's on that page near the bottom....
Ah, I see. Thanks!

What was happening was I had an Exchange account set up, and I guess the default must have been to sync SMS. But if you follow rkennison's instructions in his reply, you'll navigate to a settings screen in the email app where you can choose what you want sync'd with the Exchange account. For me, the "Sync SMS" option was checked, and that's why, whenever I got a SMS, it'd also sync into my Exchange inbox.

I see. I don't have that option, probably because I'm running a patch apk for Email to bypass exchange security settings. That's why it was confusing for me.
