Uneven screen color temperature - Lenovo Yoga Book Questions & Answers

Just got my Android Yoga Book. Fantastic piece of hardware. The best tablet I put my hands on in a while.
However, I do notice uneven color temperature on the screen: right side (where YogaBook logo is located) is slightly colder (looks more bluish), than the left side (which is hence warmer or yellowish). It's not huge, but I can definitely notice. It's most visible on the white background. I'm trying to figure out, if I can live with it...
How are your screens?
I am pretty picky, and almost on all recent devices (MSI laptop, Moto X smartphone) I had to go through a couple of RMA exchanges, until I was given a screen, that satisfied me... I saw such issues even on the most expensive iPads, but my girlfriend says I'm just crazy...

girls are always right, period....
My screen apears even in terms of color to me. However I am not too sensible - did you check with different ambient lighting?

Yeah, I can notice unevenness at any ambient conditions. I will try to exchange my tablet, as I've been trying to ignore this issue for several days, but it bugs me every time I look at the screen.

I can't see any variance in color temperature on my Yoga Book.

I have also noticed this on my Yoga Book. It is a very subtle issue and I have to focus on it to actually notice it.
Its on right side as OP said so probably a factory/construction issue.

mine is ok at the moment. Got mine from UAE.

Is the warranty working on that ?
Can franco kernel solve this issue ?
Mh if you have not already broken your warranty I would send it in. Faux kernel can solve this problem and I think also Franco but it's not the same. It seems that your device has a strong hardware tint so I think it'll look better if you send it in

To be honest I don't know about warranty maybe someone here has gained some experience with warranty?
It's not the same, in my opinion because it seems you device has some abnormal "heavy" tint so I think you can neutralise the yellow tint but I don't know to which degree you will be successful, because of the heavy tint.
I'm sorry it's hard to explain.
You can definitely make the display look more natural and better balanced but I don't know how strong the tint is, because most Nexus 4 have a way to strong blue color.
Maybe it would help if you could take a photo of the display with a nice white balance and some comparison like a white paper next to it (and a clean white color shown in the display) so that we can see more clearly how strong the tint is.
But if you cannot send it in now I think you will try it out. And I don't know if they will take the phone back after a few months because of a problem which exists since you bought the device...
But I'm really unexperienced with warranty.
Maybe someone else could leave his opinion?
Edit: lol looks like a poem because of the 5 lines per stanza... At least in Tapatalk lol

in my opinion, the yellow tint is not heavy...but it gives a strange colors in parameter and on grey in general. The white is quite good i think, maybe a little bit yellow, but definitely not blue.( the screen also have average vision angle in terms of ligth (not colors)is that normal ?( it s not a very important thing)
by the way, i will try other kernel if i can't adapt to the screen.
of course i will try to make a photo, but i only have my computer for that and i don't know any software ofcapable taking photo with the webcam XD

Na it's OK if it's not too heavy you can neutralise it, but you won't find a preset for a too yellow screen so you will need to calibrate it on your own with gamma and stuff so it will take time but it's possible
I would take faux kernel he has one general app and then one separate display calibration app
Average vision angle is normal
EDIT: Franco has such an app too, Sry didn't know. Only gained experience with faux and I'm happy with it

slim bean rom can solve it too (compared to JRxxY stock), seems like including color tweaks
Did you try to fix it?
Did you manage to get rid of the tint?

[Q] Z2 owners - how's the screen's visibility when outdoors??

I'm thinking about getting this phone but one of the major concerns I have is how visible the screen is when using the phone outdoors and the sun is out. I saw a review that said the phone was unusable outdoors because it doesn't get very bright but I want to hear from actual owners.
Phone is more than bright enough for me, problem is that its quite reflective. Im coming from one x, so only can compare to it, and its better than one x.

It's clearly not perfect in direct sunlight; you have to make an effort to read the screen.
Despite this particular situation, the screen is perfectly usable outdoor.

Yup it's the worst thing about the device it can be totally unusable in the sun I have just bagged a smartwatch 2 with a metal strap for £50 so that will be used as well as the z2

I mean, no phone is usable in direct sunlight but there are varying degrees of visibility so it has to be relative to what other phones are capable of.

I find the screen to be ok but I can see lots of reflective white dots when in direct sunlight, very annoying.

For using in direct sunlight, Galaxy S5 is the best ever. But that one sucks battery. Z2 somewhat not deliver more brightness in direct sunlight.
I actually liked Z2's screen better than Z1's & ZL's under direct sunlight. You can check the third post at this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2734942
On auto brightness, it seems fine to me. Average I suppose? I can see it just as well as my moto x and I never really had a gripe with its visibility. Only thing I noticed that could have brought this up as an issue is off angle viewing it becomes far less visible...but why would you use it off angle? I live in south Florida BTW, so there's no lack of sun.
Much better than I thought. No problems even under direct sunlight.

I come from a Szajsung Galaxy S3 and I really love the Z2 screen. Under direct sunlight only the reflections are a little bit annoying.

Vertical banding on the display, unsure if I should replace the phone.

I've had the S5 for about two months and have been happy with everything except for one issue:
At lower brightness, and especially on greys, there are dim vertical lines that are evenly spaced out across the screen (like | | | |, all the way from top to bottom). Some backgrounds also exhibit a grainy-ish "linen" texture.
I've done some googling and it seems this was an issue with previous Galaxy phones and AMOLED displays in general (especially that linen texture), but I'm not sure if this latest generation of AMOLED displays is still supposed to be like this. I tried going in-store to compare with other S5s, but it's really impossible to tell with all the lights and they won't let me take a phone home to test.
Can anyone recommend what I should do next? I'm not sure if I'm being picky or if this is an issue.
I can't see the same issue on my display and this is my first AMOLED device. But if i look really closely I can see small black dots spaced out on the screen due to the matrix of the display
LG G2 has the same problem. Cheap ass manufactureres.

Pink tint in white background

Hi guys.
I'm a Note 4 user.
I love It, but using white background i find a little area in the low half screen not so white but white /pink.
Tilting the screen white is cold.
It's normally?
Erica Griffin in Note 4 Review spoke about this problem in her video.
Ps. Why "Reading Mode" is missing in Note 4?
Same here. I have seen a lot of N4 - an they all had a pinkish tint on white backgrounds. One more, one less.
Gesendet von meinem SM-T325 mit Tapatalk
So this is not a problem?
Of course this is a problem. But as I said before - this is the way nearly all the N4 screens I have seen look like. I fear you have to accept it.
Try changing screen mode
Adaptive or Cinema makes it bluer. But having half the screen colder like that isn't normal.

Red tint rumor

http://www.phonearena.com/news/Red-...y-S8S8-displays-upset-buyers-in-Korea_id93161
Im not sure we have any korean users on here but curious if the red tint rumor is real.
Apparantly also easyly solved by adjusting the red color strenght to half the value.
No product is 100% free from defects. They all have a 1% target to hit for defective units but of course it's sometimes higher. You get these stories with every new phone that's released, including iPhone. The percentage of people that actually have a real issue will be small. If it's defective in some way or not to your liking, it's easy to send it back.

I had this issue on 2 different S7e (both early and later production models) last year and it was not easily solved by adjustments. It took a full-blown device replacement so I wouldn't put too much hope in that.
yep its true. Happens more often then you think.
Some screens just have a tint to them. Most devices will let you change them in the settings.
One of my old phone had this problem but the screen was yellow. it effected a small amount of those phone and i had to send it back to get a good working one.
But we will see what happens when the s8 is launch and how many are effected.
I checked it out at Best Buy today. With all 3 colors maxed out it had a red hue so I turned down the red and it got better but still not 100% to my liking. Coming from the iPhone 6 Plus its display seemed brighter to me (could be due to the hue) than the s8+. The iphone7 plus was sorta the same to had a dark hue to it and definitely wasn't bright as my iPhone 6
I am wondering how strong that red tint is? Can you clearly see it? I am a bit paranoid when I read such stuff and always feel like I have said problem xD

Did the S7E allow you to control the pixel color strength? I had one and didn't remember this.

Either way, I like my displays with a slight red/warm hue. You get used to it quick and it's much easier on your eyes at night.

It's real. I have pink-red tint on my s8+. It really noticeable at different angels. I've attached pics sitting next to my s7 edge.

Wow, on yours it definitely looks like the lower 2/3 of the screen has a red tint. If thats the case, and its not a uniform discoloration, i would say it would have to be impossible to adjust out because as you adjust to make the lower better, the upper is going to look worse.
I can see this on white background screens along the right edge. Not too noticable.

This phone better be perfect in my hands. I will be having the verizon guy show me a straight white background before I walk out of the store. That **** is NOT acceptable for an 800 dollar phone. And I would keep returning it until it is perfect.
Trust me its a lot more noticeable in person. The pic doesn't do justice. It's the whole screen for some reason the camera catches only 2/3. I will call TMO tomorrow see what the remedy is but I am not keeping the phone that's for sure. I use my phone a lot in bed and thats where the pink-red is very visible and when I have it laying on my desk. And no turning off the red color like Samsung suggest doesn't make any difference.
My midnight black S8+ is displaying perfect whites. No red tint here.

My midnight black S8+ has the red tint at the left and top edge only. it also seems to disappear if you look at it at an angle.
I've just been on the phone with EE to get a replacement phone sent out. It arrives tomorrow I hope the replacement doesn't have the same issue. I will post an update tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Yup, id return that. Dont feel too bad, mine arrives today and will likely have the same problem. This seems to be the new norm these days, if you want something your happy with, be prepared to fight for it!
Getting mine tomorrow... I'll test it out and let everyone know if I get a red tint and if I can adjust...
Yeah this isnt a new problem, just a QC problem with screen.
Got mine today and it looks okay but im not sure ill ever get used to the edges.
