Themes? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Where is Lg World? I have the AT&T variant. The only themes that are available are the 3 pre installed ones.

Type "lgworld.com" into your phone browser. Follow the instructions and you should be able to download it.

It's probably on your hone, but under the "Smart World" name

AT&T loves to make it hard to theme a device. That said, at the moment there are only 10 more themes for the new UX on smart world at the moment and none are really that great. I'm hoping more come out soon, though I'm really liking the Black Bold theme.

I'm going directly from the themes section in the settings. There's a little download arrow in the top right corner that takes me to the smartworld app.

There is a guy on Google plus who has no idea how to code that's been messing with the theme engine making some cool looking stuff.

Its a start. He said LG wouldn't let him upload to their store. So we'll be seeing them on the Play store soon.

I think it's really dumb that LG won't allow other people to upload themes to the store seems like wasted potential. Esp now that the theme engine in the V20 UX is actually really good and just as extensive as Samsungs. That's one thing I like about the S7/Note 7 was the number of themes thanks to Samsung accepting themes from people that want to make and share them.
I guess the theme engine LG has now dose not have any real SDK or anything and no idea if they even plan on providing something like that. So people will have to learn how it works the hard way, but thankfully that guy on google plus did say that the themes are distributed as regular APK files so at least once people do start making them we have a way to share them.

I set up klwp due to the laxk of themes and it looks/works great on the V20

Doesn't work on vibrant or captivate.....
Sent using xda app.
That wont work, the vanilla launcher is not installed on our phones, as it is on the epic 4g, i tried this a while back like the first week i got my phone.
I'm pretty sure this is fake. The home launcher is not installed on the vibrant by default.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Hmmm, well I do not believe its fake. Although this was posted from Androidcentral. I'm considering on going to a Sprint store and asking to play with a model for myself Hopefully I don't get someone in trouble. Maybe Samsung heard our opinions on TW?
Why is this in development? It certainly has nothing to do with development at all. It is just a repost from an Android website.
Vibrant9 is going to be touchwiz free.
Or, if you look at the sticky in general, there is now a link for the vanilla 2.1 launcher. You can install that, set it as default, and get the vanilla experience.
yea this is in the wrong section and, it is not applicable for the vibrant, this only works on the epic, Samsung added the vanilla launcher as another option.
You can put any launcher on it you want.
This is dumb though because it doesnt get rid of touchwiz, it is just switching launchers.
Directions for removing touch wiz.
1. Open market
2.hit menu\search
3.type "launcher pro" without collins
4.install and follow app instructions to get running.

Dont load this.it slowed my phone down upon launch.Feels very buggy and has now after uninstalling made changes on my phone.
works fine for me. but not that great.
yeah, after giving it a go, i'm not a big fan, tbh. it looked cool in the video, but otherwise it's really a clock widget that takes up the screen, until you wipe it off, then it's just a bookshelf wallpaper. there are some folders and application organization options, but apparently those are broken not functioning in the ces version.
rather 'meh', after all.
i'll stick with adw ex
Looks promising once they update it. Make sure you leave feedback in the market so they know what they need to fix.
anybory know how to get the full version, in the CES version it says that if you want the full version to download if from the market?
That is one foul looking and awkward launcher. I don't like my phone looking like 1995's vision of future computer interfaces. The category drag-and-drop system is nice though.
I tried it for like 2 minutes. It's a novelty, nothing more. And an ugly one at that.
I get a force close using CM7. It definitely looks cool from the screen shots I have seen but seems like no one likes it here.
Anyone get it running on CM7? Also, does it allow widgets to be added?
They must of taken it down already. Anyone have another link to download? Not showing up in my market.

No software, but these are he essentials
Apktool
7zip/WINrar
GIMP/Photoshop/Paint.net
General idea where things are at
I Mean, the Stausbar and dropdown images are easy. Wouldn't make me long to do that. But a full theme, it's ridiculous how long it takes. Things are so different from the S3 too. I'm not even close to being done with mine lol.

Yeah of course. Lemme track one down for ya now, u first you need to DL the Android Sdk and Java JDK. But that stuff may be part of the Guide that I'm looking for. Hang tight!
I always liked this guide for ADB. Setting up he system variables is very important. That where the PATH comes into play with ADB.
http://www.redmondpie.com/how-to-set-up-android-adb-and-fastboot-on-windows-tutorial/
Take a read here for apktool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2213985
I must warn you, with our devices there are work arounds with a bunch of system apps and framework as well. Before you jump n with both feet, I'd do a bunch of reading as you go along. I mean read abut everything.
How to properly edit .9 PNGs
Xmls
Smali
And such......
But once you get the android Sdk installed and apktool (make sure you extract all 3 files to your Windows directory) the easiest for me to start with was the systemui.apk. That's where you'll find the statusbar Icons, and toggles, dropdown, and such. I could keep going, and going lol but I sure don't have the time for tht lol. There are a TON of amazing Guides out there. I'm still a novice myself, but there's always something to learn. Hope this helps ya out a bit

Yeah it is super overwhelming alot of the times. Unfortunately for myself, Instead of focusing on one task at a time, i try to do 6 or 7 at a time. Dont do that lol, cause you'll stress out. I don't mind admitting that:thumbup:
But if i were you, you already have the SDK and I'm assuming ADB all set. Extract the 3 necessary files for apktool. Rip my SystemUI.apk from my ICS theme, and see what I edited. Look at the titles. Same may look and sound familiar and most will boggle yur mind. Take all those images from drawable-xxhdpi and put them in a new folder. Grab a Fresh systemui.apk from a stock ROM and decompile it. Take my images and start changing the colors. Be careful of the .9 images. You'll see the Black ticks on the outside of them. Make sure they don't get touched, or the apk won't compile, and if it does things will not look right or even FC.
This is where I started, with the systemui.apk. But Read, Read, read. It'd the best way to learn. I could help with the basics, and some other things, but i still bug the he'll out of other themers. Mainly Dazednconfused and Rompnit, but there super cool about it. They love that they can give back. Anyway, im turning this into a Guide/Novel haha.... You can hit menus on Gtalk if ya need to. I'm always around pate in the afternoon [email protected]

Transparent Status bar:
G2 that i saw at the first Verizon store had a 100% transparent status bar. The one in the second store had 50% transparent status bar. I searched everywhere but i couldn't find any setting. What's going on with this. I personally like 100% transparent status bar. I hate 50% or opaque bar. Please shed some light on this guys. Thanks.

What I found out was is that you only get the 100% transparent status bar if you use one of the stock wallpapers. You have to use stock wallpapers for both your home screen and lock sceen. Otherwise, you get the 50%
