Anyway to change the Emoji's? - LG V20 Questions & Answers

Can't stand the stock Android Emoji's
I use Textra so on texts it's fine, but Samsung would allow Textra to override the look while in the app using the keyboard but the V20 doesn't

Might be tied to the keyboard. Have you tried changing keyboards?

Agree, coming from Samsung these blobs are atrocious on the LG. Changing them is near the top of my to do list after rooting.

It was fine on Swiftkey when on Samsung. I think it maybe something in the Nougat architecture that prevents Textra from adjusting it.

I thought with textra you had to select emoji from their own menu, I hated Samsung emoji. But couldn't get stock Android emoji to appear with the keyboard.

[Q] Auto-Complete with keyboard

Is there a way to turn on auto-complete with the hardware keyboard?
There may not be a way to do it with the stock Android keyboard but I know that both Better Keyboard and SwiftKey have that option. I prefer SwiftKey

It has a limited auto-complete in the sense that it will insert apostrophes and other punctuation as it's appropriate, but I don't recall that it will actually correct spelling or give you auto-complete functionality.

They were asking about the HARDWARE keyboard, not the stock android virtual keyboard.
I wish there was auto complete for the hardware keyboard too, but I haven't seen that option anywhere.

Swiftkey allows for the hardware keyboard to have prediction. Check out its description in the market.

I stand corrected. However, I must admit $4 to add autocorrect is a bit steep IMOH. The was a nice touch.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App
Yeah $4 is a bit steep I didn't realize it was that much! I got it for 99 cents a while ago. I guess they must have raised it since then.
I was just going to search for this. Looks like the swift KB is the way to go.
Oh well. Can't have it all I guess. Root will solve that problem.

Search for jonas's HTC IME mod on the forums. The high res version works with the G2 and has hardware kb word prediction.

The stock keyboard has emoji on it. Hit the symbols button in bottom left, then smiley button on the bottom and it takes you to the emojis

damn if only swiftkey had that
Upgrading from a N4 is seeming easier and easier each passing day... ?
only issue I've had was with Google Voice.. I can send emoji's just fine, but receiving them they appear as diamond question marks. Strange - but probably just an issue with Google Voice.

Does anyone know what happened to the actual android heads? I used to use google keyboard along with wnn keyboard. Now wnn keyboard doesn't have the android faces.

It seems like it is only through the stock keyboard. I installed the Google keyboard as I think it is better at gesture typing, and installed the Emoji Add-on Dictionary, but can't seem to be able to add them anymore. On my Rezound with the Google keyboard, You could hit menu in the text box and choose Insert Emoji, but I don't have that option on my G2.
Interestingly, to me anyway, is that when I send teh stock LG emojis from the stock LG keyboard to a friend who uses Handcent he can see them, but when he sends them to me I can't see his. I just get something akin to ASCII code in place of the image. Seems there is more than one emoji standard...

I've noticed the same thing. Did you try disabling Google Voice to see if that fixes it? If not, I'll probably give it a try.

You have to disable Google Voice integration if you're on Sprint, otherwise only a handful of Emoji's will work.

IPhone style emojis in kit Kat?

Does anyone know if there is a current mod available to flash the emojis from iOS onto Android? I just personally prefer the look of the iPhone ones. I would do it myself but my computer has been dead for roughly 2 months now.

Theres an Xposed module for replacing SMS smilies, but it only works in the text app. I can't remember if its just for AOSP or not

If youre not a fan of the stock messaging app(like me) simply download Textra SMS from the playstore, which is far better in my opinion, and also Textra SMS emoji plugin and voila! you have all ios emojis! just go to the "+" symbol next to the input box and click the smiley at the bottom. See attached screenshot.

What keyboard do you use?

Googly keyboard isn't cutting it for me. Does anyone know of any better keyboards? Is there a port for the Samsung keyboard?
I use SwiftKey
Swiftkey lags a bit and predict service not great. Google is the fastest for me. Samsung keyboard is worse than swift.
I'm considering a change to Swiftkey but does it support international languages?

You may want to try Swype if you like swiping, if you don't and are only interested in typing Flesky is fairly good. Having said that I always end up back using the Google keyboard after trying out any of the alternatives after a few days...
I too always end up back at Google keyboard. Tried majority of them. Swiftkey is OK but for some reason I always end up back to Google

No, Swype is better than the Google KB.
Swype allows keyboard shortcuts for copying pasting and changing case. Thus I prefer it over any other.

Samsung App Themes

Anybody else disgusted with the lack of options in the Samsung keyboard and messages apps? Off to the theme store, I guess!
Seriously, look at these background choices! Chat bubble selections seem to have completely vanished on the Note 8! Who was this app designed for?
Look at this keyboard crap! Am I missing something?

Android keyboards are an interesting handicap for me. I have an iPhone 6 for work and NEVER have a problem typing on it. Android, not so much. I'm not sure if it is the way auto-correct works or just something about the layout but I can't seem to type a word on my Note (or the LG V20 before that) without messing up at least one letter. I keep thinking about trying different keyboards but then I get lazy and just deal with it.
Maybe I will give it another go with the 8.

Try mood messenger for messages, lots of things to customize, try swype keyboard lots of things to customize too. Since htc hd2 days i never typed, i just swyped on my keyboard, even my 13 year old used swype since i gave her my note 2 5 years ago, now on her note 5. Its just my wife is stubborn to learn how to swype. ?

That's another thing, I'm having trouble finding just the right theme.
EDIT: Can you use a theme already purchase for the Note 7? I've been happy with that one, don't know Samsung's policy on that. It's showing up on the My Themes page in the 7 but not on the 8. Maybe when I do SmartSwitch.

I looked on my Note 7 to get the exact name and searched it. I was able to download it without paying again which is good. I just thought all this was seamless and what I bought before would show up once I signed into my Sammy account.

I went back to Sammy keyboard because of scaling issues on Swype. An update placed the symbols there by default on the Sammy keyboard. As for the theme, my gripe was that there was only that ugly 'high contrast as an option! I'm using a theme from the theme store to covet that up.
