LG V20 or S7 Edge? Gaming, HD videos ect - LG V20 Questions & Answers

I currently have my N7 that I will have to give in soon( even if I dont want to) since I cant take it on planes and other stuff. I been using Samsung since the Galaxy Beam and the S2 mostly for gaming,Retro gaming HD videos and social media.
For me the S7 edge is close to what the N7 is but lack some stuff the same happening with the V20 lacking led notifications, there is some complains about the battery and the phone not connecting to PC.
Which one you guys recommend for a user like me and why. Is going to be the first LG I ever get if i go that route. Thanks in Advance.

I have had the s7 edge and note 7 prior to getting the v20. I am selling all of my Samsung stuff like the vr and watch and sticking with the v20. The lack of notification led and waterproof are the only features I miss. The v20 is a solid device and the second screen is a decent addition. The audio quality is amazing and the batter life is fantastic. 3 hours screen on time and I'm still above 60%.

I agree with this.
I'm also coming from the S7. There are a couple things I miss (why isn't wvery phone waterproof?!). With that said, I am also really loving my V20. I didnt realize how much I missed a big screen until I started using it again. Camera seems amazing so far, and the battery life is awesome.

I have both the S7E and the V20 in my hands as I type this. I personally like the V20 better so I will be returning the S7E to Tmobile.
The V20 runs much more efficiently. It hasn't gotten no where near as hot as my S7E gets sometimes. The V20 is also noticeably faster. I havent experienced any lag even while downloading apps from the Play Store in the background.
When it comes to the display, I give the slight edge to the S7 but its slight. The V20 has a very nice LCD panel in it and its great in direct sunlight. I origionally thought the second display was going to be a gimmick but I've found myself using it much more than I ever used the edge features on the S7E.
Audio through the phone speaker is louder on the V20 and through my headphones, I've never heard a phone sound this good.
Side note. This is the first phone ive ever owned where I actually like the stock keyboard.

How good is the V20 as far as gaming? I have been playing around with my N7 to the point im getting 143k on antutu. Playing on PPSSP have been a blast.

I ask a few time about 720/1080p hi10 encoded video with acc/flac audio if the video is stable in VLC on the V20 but no one came back to me about it =(

I currently use MX player on all my phones and it has work wonders specially on the N7.

Personally, I'd say get the s7 edge.I was the one of the first buyers in Vietnam to get the V20. But the s7 edge is just too good of a phone to leave behind. The s7 edge has a much better camera imo, i'm talking better contrast, faster focusing and never have i experienced overexposure. The v20's camera is admirable, but doesn't focus as fast and it tends to overexpose the skies, as well as having much more grain and noise. Android 7.0 is fast with useful features but the multiwindow is laggy and unstable, even after an update. The audio is only nice if you have high impedence headphones or earphones, wheras my s7 edge is already rooted with viper4android and sounds awesome. Also, samsung's touchwiz just has many useful features that I actually use frequently, that's not to say the v20 has useless features,it just doesn't have it. And of course, you'll notice that LCD backlight when you move from superamoled.
If you want root, the s7 edge already has root, the v20 will get root after awhile but i guess i just don't have the patience.
Just today, i returned the v20 and I don't feel any regret.
TLDR: Get the s7 edge.

There is a solution for audio without headphones with high impedance
http://mysku.ru/blog/china-stores/41598.html

I have both and as far as i'm concerned the s7 is yesterday's news. The edge display is useless you're alway hitting by accident and 32gb memory is not enough the s7 camera is a little better but that's it.I love the wide angle camera on the v20.

I agree about the edge features. This second display on the V20 is 10 times more useful than the edge features ever were. In fact, the edge features were so meaningless, I disabled them after a while.

I disable it to but don't get me wrong the s7 is a very good phone.

The v20 doesn't have an led? Seriously? Game over for me then. That's the differentiator to the iPhone for me.

It doesn't because of the second screen for notifications. Neither does the v10. I got used to it but wouldn't mind having it again! Notification led is handy.

Yea, it was a great phone. Camera and display were top notch. I'm really digging this V20 though. The touch digitizer is more accurate and it performs better. I guess Touchwhiz just drags down the S7.

V20 vs. S7E
I have had both and while I enjoyed the larger battery of the S7E (snapdragon version), I'd go with the V20. Battery life isn't noticeably worse despite being 400 mAh less. In fact, Nougats Doze optimizations allow it to hold its own. The audio through the loudspeaker and headphones is much better without any modifications on the V20. The LED notification light is gone but to be honest, I haven't really noticed with the second display. Lastly, the V20 has an IR blaster which I've missed since getting the S7E and note 7. All in all, the V20 is where it's at.

For me, the V20 is the best phone of 2016. No question what I would do if I were you. Coming from the Note 7, this feels like an upgrade for $200 less.

Just like I ask the other person it will depend on what method you can use. Torrent, xdcc, or ddl"if I can find one unless I upload myself".

I've been a Samsung owner since the S2, upgrading 2x yearly to their next release and just gave back my Note7 this past Friday. I'm impressed by the LG V20 and I'm glad I switched over to LG.
The UI takes a little getting used to but I love all the new features I have now that the Note7 didn't.

Was just offered a S7 Edge for my 6P...... Conflicted on what to do?!!?

I love my 6P.... Love the updates and all the custom ROMs, love the front facing speakers too.....But have wanted an "Edge" ever since they were first released.
Today, while at work, someone seen my 6P and asked me a few questions and then said he had a 1 month old 32gb S7 edge he'd trade me straight across for my 6P??? I told him I'd have to think it over and let him know later..... So, what's everyone think?
Reasons I'd keep the 6P
* Custom ROMs galore!! One of the best supported phones are NEXUS phones
* Future proof for updates for several years
* Front facing speakers
>>> I'm a HUGE music lover and check out music equipment (I'm a guitar player) on YouTube quite often
>>> On those days when you just want to lay in bed, the front speakers are great for watching NetFlix without having to cup your hand around the bottom of the phone just to hear it
* I already gave away most of my micro-USB cables and replaced them with USB-C cables - EVERYWHERE
Reasons I'd switch (are the same reasons I love it):
* Custom ROMs -
>>> I get too tied up in the whole custom ROM thing and sometimes spend several hours a day flashing custom ROMs.
>>> I am checking XDA 2-6 times per hour for updates or new ROMs, to the point it affects my work some days (when new ROMs come out while I'm at work). I've tried to control it and block XDA, but I am really addicted to it and have thought about going back to a flip phone sometimes just to free up several hours a day and keep me working when I'm supposed to be.
* Front facing speakers -
>>> Lets face it, the speakers aren't that great (compared to the HTC stereo speakers). Sitting on my desk, 3 feet away I really can't hear any stereo separation and might as well have a single speaker
>>> They really don't sound as good as many single speaker phones
* I wouldn't mind having a smaller, lighter phone....I've got tendinitis from years of playing guitar and the heavy phone sometimes hurts to use for long periods... But after a case it'll be about the same.
Take it. If you like it, ok, if not, you can sell it for more than a brand new 64gb 6p. You can come home for free.
personally I would keep my 6p. The Edge is kind of gimmicky. the 6p is pure Android it's what I love about it. I love the larger screen, it's kinda hard to go back to a smaller screen after the 6p. can't stand the Samsung bloatware and the delay updates. I love everything about the 6p the only thing I don't like is the button positioning. I keep accidentally hitting the volume button.
Lol, what a thread. Why don't you ask your beauty therapist?
Seriously, it's your decision, why even spam the forum with your indecision? There are enough comparisons between the two phones, just do a bit of googling

I just traded my S7 for the 6P. Can't beat the buttery smoothness and customizations. Believe me, S7 is still laggy even with the reviews praising the touch wiz. I took a downgrade in the camera department, S7 really does have an awesome camera. But the itch to have pure Android and butter smoothness wins hands down.

Yeah, after reading so many reviews... The S7 does seem like the clear winner, but I'm not sure I can live with the crappy single speaker?? And most say the speed/smoothness is better on the 6P, but it's just apples vs oranges on most of it.
I really wouldn't use Touchwiz, I'd use Nova launcher, but I guess I'd sill have the Touchwiz menu's and pull-down.
I know some say "get the S7 and sell it", but I only have one phone and can't really do that.. So I'd be stuck with it unless I got another local deal.
I had an s7 edge for about 2 weeks before I got the 6p. The edge was nice, however I prefer the 6p. Stock android is better than touchwiz. Has the edge been rooted yet? It had not been when I had it. I did not like not being able to block ads in chrome. I returned mine to AT&T and lost out on getting a free TV with it. I also lost out on a $150 bill credit because I returned it. I don't regret it. Keep the 6p!
You're gonna miss the speakers and the stock Android experience.
The edge is dumb. Its gimicky and has almost no useful use. I had the Galaxy S6 edge.
And most of all the edge is hard as FU*K to hold.
I had a choice of buying either the S7 Edge or Nexus 6P just a couple of weeks ago, one of the main reasons for getting the 6P over the S7 Edge was updates, Android N will be out end of Summer the S7 Edge will not see it until sometime early next year.

no offence meant, xda is for helping each other out, if you can't add anything important, then please dont post replies. there are many users back here who are ready to help the op out.
This is my first Nexus device. I love the smoothness and appreciate the fast updates. I don't think you can go wrong with either phone, more so if you change phones often. But if I were asked I would say hands down stay with the Nexus. These days I have learnt to appreciate the faster updates, especially the security updates. Samsung is notoriously slow with the updates. And you're on AT&T too? Updates are a foreign word to you (trust me, I had the AT&T Note5). But it comes down to what your priorities are.
I gave up on Sammy after my MDK S4 (the last of the unlockable Galaxies). Screw that Knox BS.
I was also thinking about selling my 6P for the edge, but I'm on Verizon and who knows when I would see android N there. Furthermore, my phone would be locked down to VZW and I don't like that, their bloatware, etc. The only thing that the S7 edge has on its side is a better camera, better battery life (maybe), and gaming performance (I don't play hardcore games), better screen (but smaller), nicer build quality (maybe?). After that, it goes downhill fast. Only 32GB? And you can only use 20GB of internal because of the TouchWiz hog. You can add a SD card, but can't transfer bloatware apps. I think I'm juts going to keep my 6P 128GB and wait for android N.
I came from the s7 edge to nexus 6p and i love this damn phone i will never get a samsung phone again and as for memory got the 128 one.
Personally, I would go for the S7 Edge. I've had both phones and while the 6P is smoother (not faster), the S7 Edge just offers more overall. Better build quality, better camera (imo), wireless charging built in, water resistance and much more software features built in without having to root or install a bunch of extra apps.
Sure you won't get software updates nearly as fast, but I'm starting to realize that those are somewhat overrated after having both. The couple 6P updates while I had that phone did more harm than good. I lost LTE frequently on AT&T which was a known issue with those couple of updates. With the super fast updates, we are almost like beta testers for Google.
While that's fun and exciting for a while, I'm at a point in my life and career where I need a stable phone with thoroughly tested software. As crazy as that sounds with all the complaints I've made about slow updates on AT&T in the past lol.
Another tidbit is that I've already received 3 software updates on my AT&T S7 Edge since I've had it. They have definitely gotten better about it so far. With Google now offering incentives to carriers, I hope the trend continues!
But at the end of the day the choice is yours. Like someone else said before, make the trade and then sell the S7 Edge for more than you can get another 6P for if you are unsure. And if having a transition device is an issue, just grab a cheap under $50 phone from Craigslist or something. I always have a cheap BLU phone on deck for transitions lol.
Good luck!
I actually have both and yes the 6p is a little smoother but the battery on my s7 edge lasts quite a bit longer. I go back to my 6p just for a day or so and use the edge for weeks at a time. I cant seem to make myself use the 6p for more then a day. The screen and the camera are unreal. also the 6p shows massive amounts of finger prints and the edge does not
Biggest reason never to buy Samdung is KNOX.
Nuff said.

From s7 edge to 6p

Hello guys, i just want to ask from users of s7 edge if anyone here before owned a nexus 6p. I have a s7e now (via contract 2 years) never had a 6p and im thinking of selling it because i feel uncomfortable coz of the curves, i had a g4 and it was really a very good phone overall. I tried holding a 6p and i can say it is really a huge phone (powered off so i didnt see the actual display and never played with). I am also fan of custom roms, as for the s7e the development is not going too far like the nexus devices.
So anybody here from nexus 6p owner that own a s7e now? How does it feel? Are you still thinking of going back?
I found a 64gb at 429 euro. Any suggestions?
I didn't own the 6p but had a close look at it before committing to the S7E.
It is built well but quite a bit larger than the S7E. It will surely be easier to keep clean than the Edge but if you add a case, you'll end up with a very large phone.
I didn't like the display. It is both dimmer and especially the whites were not as clean. I also didn't like the large'ish display borders.
The phone looks good switched off
The camera is reported to be decent but I wouldn't expect the same results as from the Galaxy.
Not water resistant either.
As regards rooting, you can root some of the S7's. Personally I have no problem with the latest touchwhizz. The phone runs like greased lighting and I have no need to root.
For me it was an easy choice to go with the Edge.
I also had an Op3 for a couple of weeks before selling it on. I would suggest that phone over the 6P.
switched from the 6p to the 7E and I have no regrets, the 6p is huge, hardly fit in my jeans' pockets, the camera was meh too (compared to the S6 I had before and to the S7E). Also I kinda need a SD card. I love my S7E, it's not perfect but I love it.
I have a 6p still and the s7 edge. Haven't turned on my 6p for 2 months now lol. Love nexus for pure Android but I like the display much better on s7 including brightness and the much smaller bezels and phone size in general. Actually I love the edge screen as Well.

I have both, the S7 Edge first.
The S7E is my main device and the only real reason I have the 6P is because I managed to find it really cheap.
I LOVE the 6P.
It's much faster (obviously, it's vanilla Android), and in my opinion it's a better "in-the-hand" feel even though it's huge.
However, the S7E has a far superior camera, much better single-hand usage (if that's at all important), and a far better screen.
Don't get me wrong, the screen on the 6p is fantastic, but it isn't as bright, or as white.
I quite like the 6p, so much so that it's my "Spotify" device, as well as my travelling phone.
However, for me, the S7E is a far better phone for multimedia and for people who have little or no interest in modifying Android.
That being said, the Android N Dev preview on my 6p is great.
But yeah, the s7E wins when it comes to media and ease of use.
It has all of the gimmicks, but the 6p is smooth, fast and reliable.
In my opinion; it's just huge and cumbersome.

Thanks
Thank you everyone who replied here.
I was considering selling my S7 Edge for a 6P or OP3 but after reading the comments here I've definitely decided to keep the S7. I use it like a pc and coupled with root and Xposed it's just daft! Simplest way to put it tbh. Fast, reliable and so many capabilities. Cm13 would slow this beast down, simple. Torrents plus USB connector and you're the guy sticking the latest media on any device pretty much anywhere too.

In all fairness, there was only going to be one choice on this particular forum.
Perhaps post a similar question on the 6p one. There have, I think, been some that changed to the 6p and were happy in the process.
Neither one are bad phones. Neither are perfect.

What does it do that the S7 can't do? Other than speakers, boom button and upside down UI, I can't think of any. And I find two out of those three things gimmicks BTW.
And let's not forget about all the things the S7 Edge can do that the Alcatel can't do either.

In my experience, the 6p stutters a lot less than the S7E, and I also have the Exynos UK version.
The S7E is a great phone, it isn't slow by any means! But perhaps the only reason I'm experiencing slowdowns on the S7E is due to it being my main phone; so all of my apps and their data are there..
However, the 6p definitely surprised me.

opinions now that it's been out a while?

How are you V20 owners feeling about the phone now that it's been out a while? I'm looking for a new phone and the options with Sprint suck, so it seems like it's either the S7 Edge or the V20. Both have good reviews, but those reviews are always done after maybe a few days or a week of use, and right at the phone's release, so I wanted to get some real world opinions from every day users.
I have an LG G3 right now (came to this from a Note 2) and I've been pretty unhappy with it for a while. It was okay (but nothing special) for the first year, then really went to crap--laggy, restarting itself, losing data connection. So I'm a little leery of going with another LG product, but this phone does have my interest.
I had a Note 2 and 4 prior to the V20 here and I love this phone. Even before root, I thought it was excellent. I find it fast and snappy, it doesn't seem to carry the lag that Samsung phones do. And the second screen is pretty awesome, I use it way more than I ever used the s-pen (never had an edge phone, so I can't compare it with thag).
Having said that, there are a couple downsides. I don't like the lcd screen - Samsung's amoleds are far better looking. And I feel like the camera on the Note 4 was better. But otherwise I'm really pleased with this phone. It's a great phone in and of itself, but it's the stuff that differentiated it from Samsung, the removable battery and ir blaster, that put me over the top.
And now that we have root? Oh yeah, I would definitely recommend this phone.
I too shared the concern of lag after using a G3, but this V20 is one of the fastest phones I've ever used (owned it since release). It's still snappy, no weird crashes or restarts, battery still lasts 2 solid days, wifi is still stronger than my Note 7 was. The more I use it the less things like the lack of notification LED bother me, and I'm more and more impressed with the audio that this phone delivers. However I still miss AMOLED, if this V20 had an OLED display it would be 10/10 for me.
Personally, both my dad and I want to throw our devices out a window. Mine regularly locks up, and both of our devices occasionally heat up, and drop 20% or more battery life in 5 minutes. I'd like this phone a lot if these issues didn't exist but as it stands they outweigh the incredible audio quality that this phone provides

I got the V20 when I had to give up my Note7. The note 7 was hands down my favorite phone I've ever owned, but the V20 is good. I also owned the V10, which was okay, the V20 is a vast improvement though. Good performance, decent battery life (not getting a secondary with charging kit would defeat the purpose), and the camera is pretty good (but not on par with Samsung as far as I'm concerned). I like the second screen, but it's a trade for the edge screen function. Honestly I would have gotten the S7 edge, but after the note 7 debacle, I refused to support Samsung this year. Will upgrade to the next note though as soon as I can.

That's interesting - did you use dirtysanta on your phone? If so, use the Konverged kernel. It helps significantly (using it on my H910).
If not, you can also do these couple of things to help you out - turn off/disable Lookout. That is terrible to have on the phone and drains battery like no other. Go into your developer options menu in Settings, change all the different scales like animation scales, etc. to 0.5x. There's a couple of other small things you can do - like disabling the bloatware installed on your phone. But those will help out the most I believe.

Nope I already always disable all possible bloatware and my phone is stock. Changing the window speed also will not help because my problem isn't sluggishness, it's the fact that the phone becomes unresponsive.

Overall I would have to say I'm kinda disappointed with the lg v20. Coming from the note 3, I don't know if I expected too much, or was looking to be blown away, but for the price, I expected so much more. If the phone would've been like $400-500 maybe I wouldn't be so disappointed. I had to send my v20 to lg because of the speaker problem, so I have been using a ZTE z958, a $50 go phone from att. Honestly I can't really tell the difference between the v20 and the ZTE. Not enough to justify the $800 difference. The only two things I miss from the v20 are the finger print sensor and FM radio. Think I'm going to stick with my ZTE. Luckily my wife got an iPhone 7 plus and she didn't like it very much and wants to switch back to Android, so I think I'm just going to give her the v20 and sell the iPhone 7 plus. Much more easier to sell iPhone and not loose that much money, than to try and sell v20.

Thanks to everyone for all of the info.
I know this is the LG section so I might get a biased answer, but if I could get the V20 and the Galaxy S7 for the same price, which one should I go for?
Sprint has a deal on the S7 right now until 12/28, and I was told by a rep in the forums that the same deal is going live for the V20 on 12/29. Both will come down to about $6.50/month after the sale plus my loyalty credit.
Coming from note 3, 4 and 7 - I am very pleased with the V20. Not rooted yet as I'm not sold that root will gain me much of anything and the more I read, the less I am interested in rooting. Bad battery life, no fm radio, worse signal, loss of sound improvement from quad dac and no means of reverting to stock unrooted.
I miss the look of the super amo-led a little bit, but I don't miss the screen burn on every samsung amoled screen I have owned or seen with many family members samsungs.
Love the second screen, sound quality with and without headphones. Happy with the camera using manual mode. Love the removable battery, sd slot, ir blaster, fm radio. The fact that I can disassemble and repair the phone if the need arises. Something the samsungs can be hard or even impossible to do.

Is there a Better phone out there?

Ive had this S7 for a while but ive gotten bored of it, i use to have a Moto X Pure and the speakers on it were amazing but ive been wondering if theres anyphone worth switching to?
I just snagged a Pixel and spent a day with it. Nope. Decided to keep the S7 Edge. Camera and the whole experience were meh compared to the Edge
I love the S7 Dont get me wrong but i just dont see why its Reigning supreme in the smartphone market i was thinking of switching to the G5 or Nexus 6p
Mi Mix - 6Gb ram. 256GB ufs 2.0 storage. Usb type c. Snapdragon 821.
Or IPhone 7+. Achieves its fake 180k antutu benchmark score.
Or just wait for the S8 Edge. It will have sick specs.
Are you really asking this question in the S7Edge forum?

I just did the switch from my S7 edge to a Nexus 6p. I really can't stand all of the micro stutter touchwiz brings. Even though the 6p has worse specs it's much more fluid in every day use. The only thing I'm missing so far is the S7 edges battery life.
Yh, the micro stuttering is annoying. Don't know how Samsung manages to keep it with such a strong hardware, lol

I went from a year of using the 6P to the S7E. I don't notice any stutter or lag between those two. And the screen and battery life are so much better on the S7E. Grass is always greener and all, but the S7E does not take any kind of back seat to the 6P, in my experience. The 6P is a fine phone and all, not putting it down. But I like my S7E better.
Had the 6p but dual sim is mandatory for me.... sold
S7 edge and i was thinking grass is greener so jumped to G5 along with extra battery and cradle. Omg i couldn't stand the battery life going down watching videos and a constant worry that battery is going to die eeven though u have extra one but replacing is not easy.
I think moto z play looked goodbattery wise but then the camera...
So returned to s7e and am happy for another year
No more watching grass of any side

Each to their own of course. The 6p is better for me, I love using aosp based custom ROMs, something not possible on the s7e. The edge screen never worked perfectly for me either, sure it looks very cool but I ended up accidentally touching it with my palm all the time.
I'm going to miss the water proofing, but the front facing speakers on the 6p are also quite terrific.
I want to trade s7 for Mate 9, it's ok phone but tbh it has nothing that wow omfg, outside of good lowlight camera and ok battery life.

Yep, if you feel you need to root and try different ROM's, the 6P is a better choice. The S7E is the first Android phone I have not wanted to root, mostly thanks to the Block-This app that blocks ads on non-rooted phones and better ways to get a good backup. I was never big into ROM's, so I don't miss being able to do that. I also won't miss the hassles that rooting can bring to the phone, like making it more difficult to update.
I tried the s7e for a few weeks. Then when I got the Moto Z Force the day it was released, I haven't touched the s7e since!
The Moto Z Force was a significant improvement over the s7e in terms of smoothness, battery life, overall build quality, and after heavy use - the Moto Z is only a little warm compared to the s7e. I added the battery pack, and my battery easily lasts over 24 hours with moderate use.
Just my 2ยข
I had that Micro stutter issue also it was especially ANNOYING whenever you watched videos and the videos would freeze for 2 secs Every 5 secs. i had to constantly Wipe the phone or factory reset till it finally stopped.I know the Nexus6P is weaker spec wise but those speakers Are amazing (former moto X Pure user) and the 250 price tag are tempting
No lags here and a good score on antutu 147+ depending on your gov. 14 hrs netflix strait 18% battery left. Maybe get a good up to date optimised kernel.

Thinking about upgrading Note 4 to LG V20. And has some questions!

Hey everyone I'm from Toronto, Canada. I currently own a Samsung Note 4. I wanna buy the LG V20 but I want to root it and also have it work with Freedom(Wind) mobile's LTE network. Is there a American or International LG V20 that is rootable & can take advantage of Freedom's LTE network.
Any answers would be helpful!
Thanks
hey there!
here you can find some details about the lte frequencies each version supports
https://www.techwalls.com/lg-v20-model-numbers-differences/
since freedom uses b4 and b66, I guess your only choice for a full LTE support is H918.
actually on freedommobile.ca you can get the h915 with full official support to their bands... no idea if it's rootable though, guess you'll need someone else to help on that
I'll bet if you went to the ROMs and other development subforum, you'd find the answer to your question regarding root. The search function will help you, too.
Like I said in another thread. Go back to your Note 4. Trust me I regret getting rid of my Note 4 for this POS. Went through 2 v20's already and waiting for my 3rd replacement as this one just died.
Dont do it. I sold my note 4 for a note 7, then of course had to turn the note 7 in and I mistakenly chose the V20 as a replacement. I wish I could have kept my Note 4, because the V20, even with updated processor, is no better than my previous Note 4. In fact, the camera on my note 4 was WAY better. =(

i actually owned both phone now and I would go for v20 anyday. I have sent my note 4 to repair 3 times.

Whats wrong with the LG V20? I think it would be a perfect phone if it had a Super AMOLED display instead of Quantum LCD. I think that's the only thing I'm giving up. :crying:
I have both. The Note 4 was my primary phone before purchasing the V20. In my opinion, the V20 is a much better phone. My Note 4 has been sitting in my nightstand, untouched for months. I know many disagree, but I prefer the LCD display over AMOLED. While AMOLED may look slightly better, it really isn't something you'll notice in daily use. Plus, my Note 2, 3, and 4 all suffered from screen burn-in rather quickly. Something you don't have to deal when using an LCD display

Outside of the battery saving power of amoled and the stylus, everything is better than the note 4.
- faster processor (about x3 in benchmarks)
- double space
- 1gb more of ram
- better camera
- better display (in certain aspects)
- second screen no other phone has is quite useful once you get used to using it especially playing music without having to turn the screen on.
Having to replace a phone 3 times for defects is extremely rare, the chances of getting a perfect unit is much higher. I am curious to know what SaintZ had problems with.
I upgraded from a note 3 to a v10 and had no regrets and that phone wasn't nearly as good as the V20.

I know I wish it was Super AMOLED display then the LG V20 would be a complete upgrade. Can always swap out the battery. LG V20 looks like a direct upgrade to the Note 4.
Ive got my note 5 and the v20. I also had the hct 10.
I love the amoled screen for samsung but i was getting tired of not having something a little newer.
The v20 has s good processor and is managing heat a ton better then i imagined after their last few phone's.
The screen is big.. Overall color is that of a lcd. Cf lumen or any 9other color adjustment is a good option when rooted
The battery is fair. It is removable so that i guess is a plus.
No wireless charging
Finger print scanner
Dual cameras are cool.. Still some grain on screen when taking photos that shouldn't be there. It dosnt actually effect photo tho.
Ir sensor on top is nice. It reads and sends thats a huge plus.
Type c port is nice
Sd card slot.
I mean overall its not bad at all.. There could be some adjustments to speaker quality and the 2nd screen utilization. Its fast and sturdy.. Probably lgs best phone they've put together.. But the note 7 still would have killed it cold if it hadn't been recalled.

Agreed speaker could use a definite update only company that seems to do decent in this department is HTC.
I also think the options for the second screen when it is on should be the same as when it is off, the options when the screen is off is pretty limited.
I would agree on the note 7, in fact I was considering a jump from the v10 until all that battery bs happened.
If the Note 8 offers a removable battery I will definitely upgrade but that's very unlikely. I like getting aftermarket batteries for my phones and a battery charging case isn't the same in my opinion.

I was a huge fan of the Samsung Note line and I had every one of them up to the Note Edge (which is what I had up until I got the V20), but personally I had to draw the line when Samsung started trying to be like Apple and did away with expandable storage and removable battery with the Note 5.
It's just a shame because I actually really liked the Super Amoled screens and especially the S-Pen, but I just refuse to own a phone that can't be rooted, doesn't have expandable storage, and doesn't have an IR blaster (because I literally use it to control my entire house).
With that being said the only real option for me was the V20 and to be honest I was actually surprised to see all the negativity towards it, I love my V20 and I'm still extremely glad that I got it because I was honestly worried about whether I'd like it or not (especially just coming off of 6 plus years of having nothing but Samsung phones).
I love the placement of the fingerprint scanner/power button and it's just nice to finally have a fingerprint scanner that actually works right for once, and overall the V20 has been smooth as butter for me with impressive battery life, I really like and use the crap out of the dual cameras, and overall it's been hands down the best phone I've had to date.
To each their own of course but for me at least it covers all the "requirements" I look for in a phone, which unfortunately is getting to be like finding a diamond in the rough nowadays.. so I'm glad I found it!

V20 is is missing one thing though. A stylus. Other than that everything else trumps the note series handily.
I never used the stylus on my Notes for anything except doing a screen capture. On my V20 I have a screen cap icon setup on my buttons below the dock. Right between the home and recent app button.
Love my V20.
