Straight Talk restricting outgoing calls because of 2g migration - Networking

I tried to make an outgoing call this morning, only to get a notice that my outgoing calls have been restricted and that my 2g phone will no longer work. It re-directs me to their call center, where my only options seem to be either order a replacement phone or activate the replacement phone.
Here's the catch. I'm using an iPhone 6 with a 2-year old SIM card that has worked flawlessly the whole time (actually, it still works fine, it's Straight Talk's system blocking my outgoing calls). When I question them on this, they blame my phone and say I need to order a new SIM, and the tech was unable to answer my question regarding the ability to call 911 (I can't even check voicemail, but I don't want to test 911).
I can still receive calls and my cellular data works just fine (posting this on LTE), but my outbound calls are being re-directed.
Has anyone run into this issue? Has anyone found a way to get rid of the block? I can't get anywhere with their "support". I should not have to buy a new SIM card for something that shouldn't affect my service.

Straight Talk should just send you a new sim without charging for the sim.
They sent me a replacement sim when I misplaced my phone without any problems. I found the phone and didn't need the sim. They didn't charge me for the sim.
The problem is likely on their end with the provisioning of the sim.
Did they try to send you a new sim ?

I finally was able to get around scripted CS and talk to somebody knowledgeable. They're sending me a new SIM.
Apparently, I got caught by the net because I used this SIM in an old flip phone several months ago.
My biggest concern with the whole thing is the ability to call 911, and why they don't have an escape route so that you can still place calls without ordering or activating a replacement phone. My first few contacts left me with a replacement phone as my only option.
Notice to all providers. In the future, please make these notifications so that they don't block outgoing calls. Play a notice, give a number to call, then allow the call through.
Luckily, I have FaceTime Audio to continue making calls in the meantime (new SIM arrives Tuesday).

Will 911 emergency calls work without a carrier?

Hi,
I purchased an HD2 from Europe when they 1st came out, signed up with T-Mobile (a few Monthe later) to see how I'd like it as a phone (intended on using it as a PDA initially) and them dropped the T-Mobile service after about 4 Months.
Question is, will the phone still connect to 911 without a service provider and is a SIM card required to be installed (with or without active service)?
Thanks for your help!
Mike
Keep the phone with you. Next time you see an accident, call 911 from it to report it. A legal way to find out if it works or not.
Thanks for the suggestion...
911 service works from any cell phone with or without sim card or service as long as you are within range of a compatible network. Its a law. When you place a 911 call from cellular device it will place call on first available network.
Yes, but 112 is the international standard. Works in any country. Any carrier that has a band your phone supports will route it to the emergency services. I think it goes to the strongest signal, but I don't kwow what happens if your own carrier is present but not the strongest. And 112 calls are never locked (that is, you can always call 112 even when the phone is PIN locked). I'm not sure whether 911 has the same priviledge.
Thanks all!

Calls going straight to Voicemail

I'm on Verizon with my Nexus 6p. When I updated to 6.0.1, I lost the ability to connect to 4G. Went to the Verizon store and they gave me a new SIM card that they activated in one of their dummy phones. I have 4G but for that entire day, I couldn't receive or make any calls. I can now make calls but still can't receive them. Anyone who calls me goes straight to voicemail. Any ideas? I already tried a factory reset.

Reboot of Galaxy S7 Edge Requires Outgoing Phone Call to Establish Network (Tracfone)

I own a SM-G935V that I'm using with Tracfone. It's running 7.0/Nougat, patch level 4/1/2017. On another forum, here's what I wrote:
I've run multiple tests on this and it turns out that if I reboot my phone, I do not get reconnected to cell service unless I make an outgoing telephone call.
The reason why I didn't notice this is because I use Google Voice for about 99% of my SMS communication. So here's the test I ran:
1. Reboot phone, wait until it comes back online and I have bars and 4G on my status bar
2. Call my phone from another phone -- goes straight to voicemail
3. Send SMS via phone's SMS -- goes to pending and is never sent
4. Make an outgoing phone call not using Google Voice but my cell network resolves the issue
I've changed the network from Global to LTE/CDMA, but it makes no difference. I've also turned off the wifi and tried to see if I would be denied for data access, but that is not so -- I can visit websites without any issue. But doing that DOES NOT reconnect me to my cell network. So it seems that since I'm using 4G/LTE for data, that authentication is separate from the cell authentication.
I got a response from another user that's experienced the same issue. He said he had no problems with Verizon prepaid SIM but the same exact thing with a Tracfone Verizon-piggybacked SIM. His solution was to push an unbranded firmware on it.
I'd rather not go this route if I can help it since the phone works well and this is the only issue I've encountered. Any suggestions?

Can only receive calls and text after making a call, no root.

After a restart or boot up I cannot receive calls and cannot send or receive text until I make a call. After making a call I can send and receive text and receive calls. Everything else works fine before the call. I have had this issue with 2 different sim cards, Page Plus and now Total wireless, both on Verizon network and this is a Verizon phone, with Nougat v 7.0, no root. I have a Verizon sim card and put in and the phone connected to the network like it should. Here is the kicker, I have 2 of these phones and both are doing the same thing with Page Plus and now Total wireless sims, not connecting to the network until a call is made from the phone.
Things I have tried :
reset network
reset phone to original state
safe mode to see if an app was causing the issue
cleared phone cache
changes network mode to LTE/CDMA
Access point is: TRACFONE.VZWENTP
Total Wireless wants to change sim card. It's possible, but I doubt 2 different sim cards from 2 different companies are at fault.
Verizon never heard of this, at least at a corporate store and tech won't talk to me.
Samsung wants me to send the phones in but at my expense.
I am out of ideas and can find nothing on the internet about this issue. I believe that it is a setting in the phone since the Verizon sim card connected like it should. If this has been addressed please point me in that direction. Thank you for your time.

Sim is always in call forwarding mode

Hi,
We used to use 2 Jio sim's in an Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 phone. The second jio sim in slot 2 was a secondary sim which was rarely used. It's calls were set to auto forward to some other number. We used to keep this second sim deactivated most of the times to save battery. Anyways now we were planning to use this number. Whenever we switch on the second sim slot in this phone a call forwarding logo used to come at the top, although it was turned off many months back. We went to the call forwarding settings for this second sim, the page kept on loading then it said some error or something. Tried it in slot one but same result. Tried this number in Samsung Galaxy series phone but same result. It shows that call forwarding is there but when we click to see to which number it keeps on loading and then show that it is turned off but the call forwarding sign doesn't go away. It asks us to enter a number for call forwarding if we want to. If we do enter some number then finally it displays failed to read data- something went wrong, Check your sim card or network connection, then try again. This sim can receive all the text messages. Since it is not recharged so can't confirm about the outbound calls, texts. If we call to this number then it says that the number is busy.
Isn't call forwarding limited to phones? In this case it has stuck with the sim somehow. Even if I recharge it and the same thing is there then it will be a waste of money. Is there any way to reset this sim or something? If the customer care can do something about it then what should I tell them to do?
Thanks
If you can recharge jio sim than call forwarding problem automatically solved.
