Pixel XL Kernel Testers - Google Pixel XL Guides, News, & Discussion

I am looking for a group of testers for my kernel on this device. I want to ensure we have great results, not limited to just my tests.

Happy to help
How would you like this to work?
I can't do anything before Monday though
Cheers
T

I can help.
Did Google release kernel sources?
Did we get custom recovery?

I'll test for sure, when we get custom recovery ?

For waterproof kernel? ?

We don't need a recovery because it will be a boot.img

First build is up, flash using fasboot
Code:
fastboot flash boot_a Sharkey_R1.img
EDIT: Official thread is up: http://forum.xda-developers.com/pixel-xl/development/kernel-sharkey-kernel-t3484868

EDIT: @bala_gamer these are only recovery files and not a kernel so maybe it also works on ICS, but i don't know if their are some modifications done in recovery to work on ICS
How should i flash this?Tried via CWM but failed its stuck on "replacing stock recovery with cwm recovery"
Thx for sharing!
Tested on latest CM9 build and it works but disappears after 1 reboot
Nice add on
Yes, it's a fakeflash, one of the devs need to integrate it in a kernel, I want to do, but I need a tester

Flashed with CWM, no errors!
But how to test or start it?
Ok, will find out myself
I think that's the only place (Recovery) where I like it the old non touch way, less chance of mistake

Agree 100%. Apart from saving a few seconds for bu/recovery, I can't see any advantages at all.

I agree too. Its a really cool concept but knowing me I'll fat-finger it and screw something up. Recovery is NOT a place I want to make mistakes. I'll still try it out cause it is a really cool idea.

I have ported a JellyBean Xperia ROM (very good features!). Unfortunately, com.android.phone keeps stopping. As soon as I start up the phone, it says "unfortunately, the process com.android.phone has stopped".
Does anyone know how to fix this? Again, I cannot get logcat because it is Android 4.2.2.
Thanks.

As of the Android 4.2.2 update, when you connect your phone to a computer, you are presented with your computer's RSA key fingerprint to open the adb connection. You also have the ability to permanently trust the computer, so you don't have to repeat this step upon every re-connect.
In order for this to work, you must be on the latest SDK which will grant you an updated 'adb' binary.
We will not be introducing any functionality to sidestep this default security, so if you don't update, you will lose the ability to access the device using adb.
Hi!
Thanks for the information, but I already have the latest SDK installed.
The problem could be in the Rom. Because IT have enabled adb under developer options, but still there is nothing about adb in the status bar when I connect the phone to the computer. There is also no mass storage notification!

Flo MIUI is in testing

Just to let you guys know, MIUI is planning on doing an official release for Flo with a specialized tablet UI. They are still looking for beta testers. I am one of them. If all goes well we will hopefully be getting official MIUI support with a pretty tablet UI.
There's still 35 slots open.
Only requirement is you need 50 forum credits to apply.

Touch issues has nothing to do with ROM, it's hardware (grounding) problem.

Is the ROM multilanguage?
SuperSU included in ROM or we need to flash it separately?
It's based on Android 4.4.2 ?

No supersu, and no permission app,(if you are familiar with miui you know this is the settings to give root access to apps) so you can't gain root
I tried flashing supersu separately... No joy

ASUS official unlock tool. Cyanogenmod 13 ZE500KL is going to be a thing?

I just unlocked my ZE500KL bootloader with the official tool from ASUS.
Does that mean that now it's possible to create a Cyanogenmod rom now? How much time would it take if so?
https://www.asus.com/in/Phone/ZenFone-2-Laser-ZE500KL/HelpDesk_Download/
Ok just saw it. May be it is going to be built soon.
im praying that it does
I just unlocked the BL of my phone now and it was smooth
you must not raise excessive expectations with this official tool, this tools are crappy.
But it is unlocking the bootloader. We can certainly expect for at least get some roms. :/

This shouldn't be on this forum, it should be under questions.
In any case there isn't any roms right now and you can't run 7.1.2 and 8.0 side by side because of encryption... just wait first for some roms
