How to use Android Pay on the Honor 8
Are you wondering where Android Pay is on the Honor 8? It doesn't come default on the phone but you can still get it and set it up easily. Here's what you need to do.
Download Android Pay from the Play store
Once you have the app installed, go to settings > More > NFC > Default paymeny app
Make sure Android Pay is set as the default.
Go through the regular setup process and sign in with your gmail account. Make sure NFC is turned on if you want to use the Tap-to-pay function. If you have any trouble getting it to work, leave a comment in this thread.

[Q] Cant see previous downlaoded apps

Hey
I recently reset my mobile now when I go in to Market there is no option for my downloads to see my previous downloaded apps?
I am logged into my google account on the phone aswell.
Also when im in the apps market it seems to look different compared to what it did before.
I can download and install new apps fine but I want to find the ones i purchased previouslly.
thanks
Try going to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications > Market > Clear data and cache.
Then open the Market again and go to My apps. You may have to do this a few times, but that always fixes it for me.
Thanks that looks better then before. I now have my apps option there. But in my apps there isn't any of the apps that i purchased previous to resetting the phone?
Hmm, do you have multiple google accounts setup on your phone? Are you sure you bought the apps with the account that is signed in to the market? That's all I can think of.
You can make sure by going to https://market.android.com/account and seeing if the apps you purchased are there. Search for an app you paid for on the website, and where it normally says "Install" it should say "Purchased".
When I got my new G2, it didn't show my previously paid for apps, but if I typed their name in the search box it would show the app and that I had paid for it already.

app store question

Hi,
If I have downloaded some paid apps for the app store. Can I redownload them as many times i want or do I have to pay every single time?
Google keeps track of your purchased apps.so yes as long as they are current and supported by your os. Also a purchase number is in your Google checkout linked to market
so i will not be charged twice? can anyone else confirm that plz.
Only pay once...Never again.
you shouldn't have to pay as long as you are logging in to the same account they were purchased to or for. That is the way I understood from data viz.
If you setup your device with the same Google account you can download your purchased apps.
it is true. If you log in with the same google account they will show in the market under my apps where you can just install them again for free. Even on different devices, i can install apps on my phone i purchased for my tablet.
Is there a way to get an apk from thr market that supposedly doesn't work for your device? Market will not let me download the onstar app, but downloaded it on my phone, then tried to backup app & transfer to tab, but it wouldn't back up. Did the same thing with MyGMC app & that worked fine (Also runs with no issues on my tab)

Samsung Chaton now available to Canada!

Only available through Samsung Apps it would seem at the moment, but if you search 'chaton' in Samsung Apps, you'll see that its now available in Canada!
Played around with it for a bit... its pretty cool. Now all we need is for it to come out for iphone and we don't have to worry about the $1.99 a year whatsapp chooses to charge android customers, but only charge a one time fee of $1.99 to icrap.
I don't get it.
Why would anyone pay for one of these apps? There are so many free alternatives.
the main reason is because you don't have to log in, as you would with msn messenger or the like.
Also, since the username / contact is the phone number, you don't need to "add" a contact since you already should have them on your contact list.
also it uses a lot less battery than those other active IM apps and it's a lot more network efficient.
For me the best is whatsapp. About the price difference on android / ios you have this option:
1) Find a friend that has an iphone*.
2) Get him / her to buy the app and activate it with YOUR phone number.
3) Delete whatsapp from the iphone.
4) Install whatsapp on your android device.
5) Voila, 10 year license on android for only 1$
* it can be an ipod touch, but it must be jailbroken and you won't be legally able to buy the app

[Q] App advice

I need a basic calender that has notification alarms that does not require any type of sync to the internet. Also an app to take notes with no internet sync required. I use my phone on wifi only, no data plan. Is there an app that allows usb sync to my laptop that is more user friendly than the Motorola one?
I just switched to this phone from a Palm Treo 650. I had no data plan with it. Everything could be done without the internet. I do watch movies, read books, listened to music and stored alot of information on it. So far I am pleased with the Milestone, I am just one of those individuals that does not feel the need to be constantly connected to the internet with a phone. By the way the phone is not yet rooted. Not sure if I will need to do this. Keeping the above requirements in mind, if I do decide to root, which one do you recommend?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
David
I think the calendar app that comes preinstalled can be used in that way, just go to Settings -> Accounts -> set "Auto-sync" on (if it's not already checked) -> click on the option with your Google Account -> Touch the 'Sync Calendar' option to turn off synchronization. If you want no sync at all from Google Services, turn off 'Background data' and Auto-sync. If you really want another app, there's in the Market an app named "Offline Calendar', but I'm not sure if it has the features you want (I didn't test it, but it looks like it does what you want).
About the app to take notes, there are many apps in Android Market that do what you want, just search for 'Notes' and choose one, I think they all work offline
About the usb sync, I can't help you, because I use my Google account to do it
And probably you won't need root to use any of the apps you asked about in this thread.
for the calendar you can use the google one and deactivate the sync in accounts.
for the note you can use gtask that can be sync or not with google task as you want

Enable Google now in lollipop

Running n5 preview build of lollipop. Can anyone help me to enable Google now since I don't live in US?
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
I follow the steps in this thread, it's the only method I find to enable google now in android L in these countries that cannot use google now.

Google Location services are not available in all countries (which is fine) but Google Now shouldn't explicitly need location services. Location services are not available in my country and Google Now still works with no problems on my Nexus 5 and worked on my Nexus 7 (2013) before I updated to the L Developer preview (using the Play Services - Uninstall updates trick) and still shows me location weather information, appointments, news updates, delivery updates, time to work.home, time to get to the location of my next appointment, etc... all without being able to enable location services. I don't understand why Google would limit their service when it clearly works with no problem but has no problems pushing out beta apps to everyone which clearly have issues (new hangouts desktop app).
The Play Services trick did not work on 5.0 for me either. If I do find a way around it I'll let you know.
UPDATE: Managed to get it working with the following steps:
1. Logged out of Google search app
2. Uninstall Play Services updates
3. Connect to a Free UK VPN (I used this: http://www.bestukvpn.com/)
4. Ask Google to remind you of something and select the opt in to Google Now option
5. Go through the steps to enable Google now.
6. When you get the "This account is not eligible to use Google now" click on search bar and search for anything
7. Open the hamburger menu while in search (click on the menu icon or slide from the left)
8. You will notice that you are not signed in. Select sign in and select your account.
9. Viola you will get the opt in to Google now option again and you should then have Google Now
That's what worked for me. Ask Google to remind you of something to make sure its working. Hope this helps .
