how to unlock the bootloader and then root an ASUS_T00P running lollipopWW_12.4.5.58? - Zenfone 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, is this even possible on an ASUS_T00P running Lollipop WW_12.4.5.58 ? I've seen threads where you need to downgrade it to Kitkat first before you can unload the bootloader and then root it. Was wondering if it was possible doing it straight from Lollipop. All the other threads which say you can do this seem to mention a different version of firmware on the phone. Thanks.

Can I install custom roms on my Galaxy S4 OK2?

I have the AT&T Samsung Galaxy S4
Android Version 5.0.1
Build I337UCUGOK2
I've already unrooted it.
My question is, can I install custom roms to it?
I read somewhere on xda that I can only install roms based on the base one using Safestrap.
I really wanted to install cyanogenmod, but on the page there's the warning ''you must be on build I337UCUAMDB or I337UCUAMDL or this will not work''
Any help would be appreciated.
Not possible without unlocking bootloader
I am in the same boat. Unfortunately at the moment there is no way to get CyanogenMod from OK2. I have spend so many hours trying for the same. The conclusion is that the bootloader is locked and there is no known method to unlock the bootloader on I337 yet.

[Help] Install twrp in Galaxy s5 sm-g900v 6.0.1

Hey there I just got a new samsung galaxy s5, and I have been searching on the internet since yesterday, and haven't been able to find a thread that gives me information about installing custom recovery or installing a rom based in stock without any bloatware.
My phone is the samsung galaxy s5 sm-g900v (not rooted, i haven't been able to do it, maybe it's not posible yet )
android 6.0.1
kernel version 3.4.0
So my questions are:
Can I flash the twrp.tar file with odin?
Is there anyway to install a rom based in the stock of samsung but without bloatware?
And finally, can I root android 6.0.1 in my verizon s5?
Thanks in advance
you have alot to learn my friend.. if you are on 6.0.1 i dont think you can downgrade. you need to be on a 5.0 and then root then if you have a samsung board you can unlock the boot loader to install TWRP if its a toshiba you cant..

I just got the s5, but i get rid of it,im back on my old lg g2, seems it was imposible to install a clean rom on that device.
6.0.1 is downgradable. If you had a 15 chip then you could get TWRP. Even if you had an 11 chip you could still flash a debloated rom on Lolipop.

I've searched but I'm lost on where and how to downgrade 6.01? Is it just flashing over a 5.0 ? or is there more to it because it's new? And where can you find a guide for rooting 6.01 or downgrading it and then rooting?

Flash a G900V 5.0 Lollipop Odin TAR. If you have a CID 11 chip then you can either:
- Downgrade to lollipop and stay rooted their.
- Stay / upgrade to marshmallow but not have root.

you can downgrade from marshmellow to lolipop however you cannot downgrade to kitkat due to the fact that the bootloader is different
I advise you DO NOT make move to unlock bootloader on locked device.Like install 900f roms 900f kernels. Because i tried this **** and my s5 is turned to trash. Do not try belive me.

Why are you advising those with a locked bootloader not to unlock it? If you have the right emmc, there are like 4 different methods to do it. It's simple!

Considering 6.0 rom

Can anyone help me with steps for upgrading my unlocked bootloader gs5 from pb1 to this rom?
I've been running jrkruse's 5.1.1 note 5 port. I like it, but am interested in trying a 6.0 rom.
I've done a lot of reading, but still lack a little confidence in deciphering the correct steps for updating bootloader etc..
Thanks for any help.
Can anyone confirm that I can update my firmware from the note 5 port to a rooted 6.0 rom?
Can I follow the upgrade/downgrade firmware instructions that I've seen in other threads?

G900V from 4.4.4 to most current version with root?

Looked thru the other threads, and didnt see anything that pertained directly perhaps someone can point me in the right direction.
Have my stock S5 from verizon, on 4.4.4 NK2 firmware. Looking to update to whatever is the most current stock firmware with root. I'm coming to this from years of rooting Sprint devices, this is my first Verizon and I've been putting it off forever. Been getting the nag screen everyday now for a software update and I figured it was the time to update this and get myself root.
Thanks in advance for any help in where to look. Please forgive me in advance if this is a duplicate, I searched...I really did, but since its all new to me I wanted to ask.
Looks like the process is to flash 4.4.2, root, check if bootloader can be unlocked, and then proceed 2 different ways if it can be dev bootloader unlocked. If it can, unlock bootloader, flash twrp, and then flash whatever rom you want. If you can't unlock the bootloader, folow the guides to upgrade keeping root with safestrap and use roms that are TW for locked bootloaders. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I just got a 4.4.4 g900v myself in a trade and I'm figuring out how to proceed as well.
Ok, slight difference. You can root & check the bootloader from 4.4.4...

If you can unlock your bootloader (I could), then flash the bootloader of choice from that link above to correspond to the rom you want. I'll be trying out Phoenix with pd4 (installed from above link) from here...

Planning to buy G935W8, had a few questions

Looking to buy this phone soon but I was just wondering about a few things. Im buying the canadian variant G935W8.
1. Can this device be rooted on nougat as well or only marshmallow? Im buying it brand new so I think it will probably be running the latest firmware.
2. Is there any issues with unlocking the bootloader? Is it neccesary to do so if you want root and custom roms?
the bootloader is not locked on the w8 as its the exynos variant and yes nougat can be rooted its the same as 935f

Thanks. Also another question I had. If the phone comes with marshmallow and I root it will I be able to install nougat roms directly or will I have to update the bootloader and modem? In that case would it be better to update it to nougat first and then root?
Updating your phone would cause you to lose root anyways as the file structure on nougat is completely different then marshmellow.
Rooting also prevents OTA updates, so you would end up having to install nougat manually.
I suggest you upgrade your software then root it. You can use systemless root from magisk. Using TWRP just flash the latest magisk file and you are rooted. The file will automatically root your phone as part of the installation process.

If you get it with MM (highly unlikely) just don't do anything and you should get an OTA notification otherwise you can download Odin, google it as I don't have a link and nougat from here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=457095661767144483 and you can flash it yourself now rooting is a little different then it used to be do a search on the s7 edge for the info on that
the reason is yes you will need to download the BL not sure about modem but you might as well do it too
I just rooted my G935W8 running 7.0 by following the instructions in the first half of this video.
