Root for 930UUEU4PI3? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

I was wondering if you can successfully root the latest 930U firmware and keep lte sms mms phone calls etc. I have tried before and successfully rooted and restored a backed up build prop and everything went smoothly for a few hrs. Then my lte sms everything stopped working. Anyone have a fix?

I was on echo Rom for awhile and I thought it was getting a Lil to laggy and the battery life was too poor. But I can't downgrade to pe1 to do the root method the way it says to in the guide because 930UUEU4PI3 is v4 bootloader.

[Q] Not receiving calls after upgrade to android 4.4.2

On my device I had installed cyanogenmod with android 4.3
It worked fine for me except not working outgoing sms and ussd requests, which was not very critical for me.
Last weekend it was upgraded to Cyanogen 11 (android 4.4.2) and after the upgrade I cannot receive calls, the caller can hear long bips but nothing happens on my side.
However now I can send sms and ussd request. The problem of not receiving calls is really critiacal
I have unloked GSM and using the phone in Ukraine, baseband version is L720VPUAMDC
Please help.
I think you may need to update your baseband to use 4.4.2.

Sorry for newby question. For updating to mf9 I used ODIN. Should I do the same thing to update to mk2? Where can I download the most recent mk2?
Thanks.
Ok, I found mk2 modem update here.
I have updated it successfully and now my basband version is L720VPUEMK2 but the phone still does not receive incoming calls

If you are really having a difficult time making calls and it seems 4.4.2 related then you should probably restore your backup of the stock software that you made so you can update your profile and PRL after flashing a new modem. So to recap:
1.) Install stock MK2 software (preferably with root)
2.) Get through setup and go to phone settings and update Profile and PRL with the new modem
3.) Get your phone setup on stock software the way you want it in case 4.4.2 doesn't work on your device
4.) Create a nandroid of your stock setup in recovery
5.) Wipe your phone correctly by following the instructions in the first post of the 4.4.2 rom you want to use
6.) Flash rom
7.) Try calls/SMS again
8.) Find happiness?
Odd, I was on several CM11 nightlies with MDC with no issues receiving calls. (or it *did* actually update to MK2 but didn't show it in the "about phone" screen)
One thought: Did your phone wipe data when it updated? Could be something there is being screwy with incoming calls.

Hi
Thank for your response.
Yes, I can see MK2 in about phone.
And yes, I did wipe.
Now I returned to clean CM10.2.1 and I am receiving incoming calls now, however (as before) I cannot send sms or ussd requests but this is less critical for me then not receivng calls so I decided to wait for cm11 with this problem fixed.

Why wait for cm11?... Try slimkat RC3, pretty much bug free and with way many more features than CM11. I tried it because of the milestone 3 buzz, but went back to Slimkat after a day... By the way, my girl is on mf9 running Slimkat 4,4,2 with no problems at all.

No mobile Data on Touchwiz

I have a SGH-I337M that I rooted with CF-AutoRoot and installed a few ROMs. I went back to stock for a bit and then installed a few more ROMS.
Now when I download my 4.4.2 firmware off Sammobile and install it with Odin, everything works, except my mobile data. My signal is good, I can send and recieve texts and make calls, but no internet. I tried setting my APN settings, selecting my carrier, restarting my phone, taking battery off and SIM, and still nothing. Not even Touchwiz custom ROMS work. it seems to be a TW issue. I have to keep CM11 on right now as my LTE works fine on it.
Anyone know what my issue is? My Modem now is NC1 with 4.4.2. Both with CM11 and stock. I tried calling Telus and they had no clue on their end. They tried refreshing my network profile and that didnt work either.

Install TW firmware and go to APNs then click menu button and then Reset to default. I had same problem and this little trick fix it.
Fixed it a different way. I used Odin to flash proper CS files but I ended up using the *#272#emei* method to switch to Telus and It worked perfect.

[Q] Boost flashed no 3G when on custom ROM

My S4 is flashed to Boost Mobile. Whenever I install a custom ROM I get no 3G or 3G appears for no more than 2 seconds then its 1X. I nandroid backuped to stock and same problem so then I installed a Stock Deodexed NG2 Refitted ROM and right when this ROM boots Boost ID pops up it installs apps and puts it to my boost homescreen setting and my 3G and everything works fine. APN settings are the same when I switch ROMs so I have no idea what the problem is. I want to install a custom ROM like NegaLite but I am stuck at this point.
Have you tried using an app like apn backup and restore?
What are your apn settings on aosp? Are you on the latest modem firmware?

Right now I am on NG2 4.4.2 Stock deodexed NG2 Refitted ROM. This is the only ROM that my 3G works. My 3G worked on stocked rooted then I went to Negalite didn't work. So I nandroid to my stock rooted and 3G didn't work anymore so I tried this ROM i currently am on and it works.
My apn settings are all Sprint APNs and everything works fine and when I flash a ROM my APns are still the same but 3g is ****. I tried using APN backup and restore on this ROM it lets me disable ICS Check but when I install a different ROM that doesn't work so I can't use it. I even tried moving it to the system. I appreciate your reply

Are you sure it's true 3g on the refitted ROM. Sometimes it shows 3g but its really 1x. You can check under about phone status. 3g normally works for me as soon as I flash..no need to add apns. I only have to edit mmsc in APN settings to get MMS.
That's what usually happens to me. I installed Sac's ROM and everything works and I actually really like this ROM so I'm going to stay on here. I'm still trying to figure out how to remove this data stat notifiation or something on the top right and also how would I remove a NO SIM notification since I'm on Boost now I don't need a SIM

Non-Verizon sim, broken sms with 5.0 root

So I've replicated this problem three or four times, after which I've given up on updating to 5.0 until I have some solid solutions. Whenever I try to flash one of the rooted OA8 roms here on xda I lose the ability to send sms, that is literally the only thing that is broken (4g works, calls work, phone activates to towers fine.) My process for flashing these roms has been full wipe > flash rom > reboot download > odin OA8 kernel; that's coming from rooted NK2. I've talked to another user on here who has the same problem and our common thing is that we're both on non-verizon sims (straight talk in my case.) I've tried updating the PRL, wiping cache/dalvik, factory reset. Downgrading back to 4.4.4 fixes it every time, so it's definitely not a network issue. What's the issue here? I realize that those of us with non-verizon plans are the minority here, but if anyone who knows more about this than me has some suggestions, throw them down here.
Same problem for me.
Havent been able to send sms or mms while on lollipop. kitkat works fine. wish they would fix this. i love using lollipop.

Yeah honestly I'm thinking it's something the rom devs will have to fix on their end, if possible. I've been rooting for a while, on a number of phones, and haven't run into anything like this before. I'm afraid it's out of my little bit of android knowledge

Yeah, stock vzw app and google's messenger neither worked for me

Root and Wi-Fi Calling possible?

Has anyone gotten Wi-Fi calling working on rooted g930p either with stock rooted rom or flashed to g930u rom? It's the only thing stopping me from rooting at this point.
Thanks,
Josh

yes, wifi calling has been achieved while even being rooted. check out this thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/how-to/sm-g930p-root-t3410604 and read all the instructions carefully and completely. (don't skip a word)
I've read every page of that thread. I've also used fixes for speed, battery, lag etc. I haven't gotten wifi calling to work on any rooted sprint s7. Aware of "hidden" menu under phone settings rather than main settings.
Looking for someone to confirm they have it working on their phone before jumping back to rooted rom again as well as guidance on how to achieve.
Thanks
