Yes that is the plan. Do you know of a model of prepaid phone that will work?

@brianrent
Call me crazy, but,I'm gonna go out on a limb & bet that if you visited/called Best Buy & Sprint, they'd be best able to answer any questions you have regarding the $200 credit.................
Best Buy: 1 (888) 237-8289

Sprint: 1-866-866-7509

Seriously, why take someone's word for it here & risk being stuck w/a throw-away phone...............
Here's the Best Buy offer for reference:

"T-Mobile customers simply bring in any working 4G smartphone and they’ll get the value of their trade-in when they buy a new LG V20. If their trade-in is worth less than $200, the Un-carrier will make up the difference with an electronic check."

hell at this point might as well trade in an old V10...darn phone is worthless in resale lol

Make sure it's a HSPA+ or LTE device.
Make sure your trade in is associated to your order.
I am too lazy to cancel my order and redo it for the $200. This Moto E would be fine for example.

Im thinking about getting a used samsung J3 for 50 bucks

Is this 200 off the phone or a bill credit?
Also will the Motorola Moto E phone work for this?

I'm hoping my lg og is eligible. Still works great after 4 years.

Bill credit for what the phone is worth and Lg sends you the difference in an e-check.
It will work only if it's a 4G(HSPA) or LTE device. I was going to use my Moto E but too lazy to cancel the order and redo it.

Think I'll be able to trade in my G3 with its broken SIM tray? Phone works, but no longer reads SIM cards. Wanted to trade to AT&T.

Don't know have to check that with AT&T and see.

I am not sure if ATT is doing the $200 for "any working phone". Their fine print confuses me. Seems they may be going by the value of phone and some may just get $5 for a cheap phone like the LG Phoenix 2 I purchased for a temp N7 replacement and until my v20 arrives at door.
Anyways, here is ATT fine print. Maybe someone else can make sense of it.
AT&T LG V20 PROMOTION TERMS & CONDITIONS
LG V20 offers: Offers end on 11/20/16. Participating locations. Limit one promo credit and
headphones per qual. purchase of the LG V20. Eligible min $200 Trade-in: Must be good & working
condition w/ min. $5 trade-in value & meet AT&T Trade-in reqmts.
http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/v20/promo/att/pdf/ATT-TCs.pdf

not sure how accurate this website estimator is
http://www.t-mobile.com/cell-phone-trade-in.html
but this is darn ridiculous lol
LGIC H901 V10 64GB Black - T-Mobile $24.00
Samsung SM-N900T Galaxy Note 3 white $54.00
I also have a very old Samsung Nexus that is a 4G LTE device, but it is registering as $0

Then you will get the difference in e-check from LG regardless what the trade-in value is. It will always add up to $200
Sent from my MotoE2(4G-LTE) using Tapatalk

Calling Tmobile about this was painful and useless... I couldn't get a straight answer. I have an old iPhone 4 I wanted to trade in, which if I remember correctly does connect to 4g.
Can anyone who has gotten a straight answer from Tmobile USA possibly chime in? How the $200 trade in works? After 3 calls I couldn't get a direct answer and they wouldn't even place the order for me. Told me I had to do it online!

The ZTE Avid Plus is a go, I paid $20 for it and bought it straight from T-Mobile.

Also requires a $20/mo or higher data plan. I'd really like to keep my $15/mo plan. Think we can get AT&T to price match that deal?
Sprint is doing the same price on BF, so I don't know why Best Buy isn't matching it.

Looks like there will be a few other deals from the ads that have been posted to date...
Sam's Club has the S3 for $0.96
Best Buy $49.99 for Sprint version, $99.99 for AT&T
Radio Shack, I believe, was $99.99
Walmart $129 but you get a $100 Walmart gift card (the Walmart deal runs Nov. 23 through Dec. 1 so probably the place I will go for my son as he has an upgrade in December as I don't want to wait in the Best Buy line and I don't have a Sam's club membership and we spend enough money at Walmart anyway that the $100 GC will be used so that the net cost is only $29 and I don't have to fight the crowds on BF).
Just google Galaxy S3 Black Friday 2012 and you can find the scans and prices.
Just a bit confused. Is Sprint having the SGS3 on sale or is Best Buy putting the Sprint version of the SGS3 on sale for BF? (Need to know where to stand in line)
But they don't offer the $15 data plan anymore so if I do a renewal that makes me switch away from that AT&T won't let me go back.

If you have it now, means they'll give it back to you after an upgrade. I did exactly that when upgraded in spring (when 15$ plan was already "gone"). it automatically bumped my data plan to a more expensive one, I called them and they gave me back my 15$ one...

Did anyone sell their S3 to get the S4? Can anyone recommend where to buy the S4?

Trying to sell my S3 in to Best Buy (they offered me $250) and then buy it outright (they have it listed for $700). BUT on the Sprint website and on Amazon they have it listed for $600. Best Buy told me now apparently they don't do the "price match" for cell phones on contract o I'd hafta pay the $700 which is total BS! I was planning on getting my S4 this week (tomorrow or Saturday) but now I guess I can't! Can anyone recommend where I can get an S4 (not eBay) that also has a buy back program + "price match"? ANYYY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED! Trying to get this phone ASAP, thanks!!
They will give you $262.50. The computers in the store only show good or bad condition not perfect. Tell them you saw on their website the perfect condition trade in value and they will check it. Also they don't print edition match on contract phones with is different than a off contract phone. Tell them you want to buy from them and if you are going to get the Geek Squad protection, which I totally recommend over Sprint and Assurion, tell them you also want that. But you will just order from Amazon if you have to. Also talk to a Samsung rep in the store they will probably talk to the manager and do the price match. This is exactly how I did everything.

What about paying $700 from Best Buy?! Kinda dumb I'd rather sell it on eBay for $300+ (and have them take around $30 for selling fee) and only have to pay $600 through the Sprint website or even Amazon. I just want it tomorrow or sometime before the week ends and I won't be able to do that the way I just said. I'd hafta wait a week or so. Yes I am a very impatient person!

Well the mall (where Best Buy is) is like 30min away from me and I don't want a wasted trip there... so I literally JUST got off the phone with them and the girl didn't seem to know what she was talking about, but as I stated in the OP they said they don't do price match for on contract phones.
Please delete this double post!
Make sure you tell them you are buying it full price off contract, they told me no until I made that clear then they looked a little confused and we're lime oh okay ya we can do that. I made it clear that I shop there often and wanted to buy the phone from Best Buy not Amazon. And I wanted the Geek Squad protection and they said fine no problem then.

You are in the middle of a contract so yes you are paying full price off contract. What you want Best Buy to do is match Amazon's price of $599 for the off contract s4. If you were buying a on contract agreement phone thats when you get the huge discount. Trust me I got the S2 the day it came out and since then the Galaxy Nexus, S3, and now the S4.
---------- Post added at 07:02 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:59 PM ----------
It doesn't mean your contract ends or anything just that you aren't getting the discount and paying full price, then they will price match Amazon. They get confused to because not many people do this. Thats why I said make it clear you want it full price but with a price match. And throw in the Geek Squad, It's $10 a month with unlimited replacements with no deductible, just don't lose your phone, they don't cover that.
---------- Post added at 07:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:02 PM ----------
Read this and specifically the first part of the second paragraph, it clearly states "on contract" which you are not buying.

If you find a lower price on a qualifying product at a local retail competitor's store or a designated major online retailer, we will match the price. OK lemme get this straight, and hopefully when I go to Best Buy tomorrow it's not a wasted trip lol..... So what you want me to do (and what you did to get your S4 from Best Buy and got them to price match it??) is: go to Best Buy tomorrow and tell them that I have an S3 that I want to sell into them, then I say I would like to purchase the S4 off contract and I would like them to price match Amazon/Sprint's price of $600 because I really wanna get it from Best Buy and get their Geek Squad protection. If I got that right.... that should work and I should walk out of Best Buy tomorrow with my new S4 for $599 (plus tax)?!?! Thanks!
PS- Do I hafta do THIS to sell in, or can I sell it in to them rooted with a custom ROM lol?
If they argue ask for a manager and show them there price matching policy which I pulled from there website. It shouldn't come to that but it is their policy. I price match a lot there because I prefer Best Buy over any other stores. In fact I have a interview with there mobile department tomorrow. LOL.

Yes, exactly what I did. I was told the whole we don't price match thing early on when I was thinking about buying the S4 then when I was actually about to buy it I did my research and went to a store with a Samsung rep who knows me fairly well and got the breakdown that they would do all of this once I made it clear about the off contract stuff. Good luck and enjoy your phone, it will all work out and be fine. LOL.

Also they don't care what the carrier price is just say Amazon because its a store. Sprint can kind of do what they want sometimes because they are the carrier.

Getting away from ATT locked bootloader

So what about:
1.) Preorder ATT note 3 for $299.
2.) don't open box, and sell it for $650-700 on ebay/craigslist
3.) buy TMO off contract with unlocked bootloader for $709+tax
profitt?
Will have paid $300 for a Note 3 that has LTE that has unlocked bootloader.
4) Pay ETF from ATT
I don't think Att will let you out of the store with an unopened box if you bought it with a contract extension. In my case, they opened the box in front of me, put my sim in it, activated it, made a call with the new phone, had me sign all the paperwork, then let me go. Anyone? You could however try selling it afterward though already opened.
Of course given what I've read about the range of experience found in their employees, if you asked enough times in enough stores, you could probably find someone who'd let you do it - even if it was against policy, for the simple reason that they didn't know it was forbidden.

No, you don't have to let them touch your device. I've bought numerous phones the last year or so and I never let them handle my phones. I've always opened the box there though and inspected the device for defects. Just so I don't complete the purchase and then find a defect later and have to use my one exchange.
Also, I'd never sell a device unless I had inspected it first.

I don't think he was planning on actually cancelling his service. It sounds to me like he wanted to sell the AT&T Note 3 with the locked down bootloader so he could buy the T-Mobile version (which is at least rumored to not have a locked down bootloader) and then use that T-Mobile version (need to get it carrier unlocked) on his AT&T line. He wouldn't be charged the ETF if he doesn't cancel his AT&T service.

I mean , at this time there is no option to get the phone off contract

going to be tough not opening that box, whilst waiting for Mircury to validate TMO LTE on ATT
yea im in a jam too. i have so much best buy credit and whatnot i was going to be paying ~$200 for the phone in full (ATT) but after all this going on I'm trying to see if they will be getting the tmo version and then i can just run to a store unlock it and go from there. But if BB doesn't end up selling the tmo one then I would have to spend that extra $500 just to get around ATT's stupid locks =(
Buy from Negri. It is already going to be unlocked and it's cheaper.

I'm planning to move up from my Note 5. Q is which of these 2 are offering a better deal. ATT offers the s2 watch while BB offers the Fit 2. Otherwise are they really so different?
Also doesn't BB have a poor reputation for delivering on time?

If you go with att can you still get the Samsung promo?

Yes the promo is through Samsung, you have to enter the phones info once in had to apply for the watch or memory card.

Can you please give more in-depth instructions on how to do this?
I'm ordering my phone through ATT, but am interested in the memory card (I already have a Moto 360 2nd gen and am quite pleased with it, so no need for the Gear S2).

Man... I preordered the S7 Edge through BestBuy and it was a total mess.
They took damn near a month after release to get the phone out to many people... So many delays... So many issues with them...
If you want to return, you only have 14 days - I had to argue with them to return my first device (due to small issue) but they refused at first saying it was past 14 days. I told them it was past 14 days because THEY took forever to ship it out to me. They ended up giving me a replacement but told me I wouldn't be able to return that replacement to them.
They have good promotions and free stuff but Best Buy Customer Service is abysmal. Seriously!!
I think the best deal I've seen so far (in the US) is from Sam's Club - google it and check it out.
Who knows if Best Buy is going to make the same mistakes when this phone is released.
I ordered mine thru Target. They are giving a $100 gift card and giving you $200 gift card to trade in a old phone. Hard to beat $300 and I'll still order the sd card, once I get my phone.

Awesome! Thanks!

target is cheaper with the $100 gift card (comes to $809). I assume you can still get the 256mb SD card direct from Samsung?
how good are they on dates on preorders and does anyone know what their return policy is?

That is the only question. I've never dealt with them before with cell phones, so I can't answer that.

Do you have the link for the $200 phone turn in? I couldn't find that?
Sure here is the link:

The best buy deal if you do it in store you will get your watch or mem card the day you pick up the phone. Heck you can get a s7 edge with that deal right now.
Not all targets have support att

Another limitation of the Note 7 deal at target is that you cannot turn in a phone to them. If you are on a next plan, and eligible for an upgrade, but have not yet paid off your full plan, they cannot sell you a Note 7 on that line. I was told only AT&T stores and Best Buy can do that. So if you own your phone ourtight, then you can do the target (and Sam's Club) deals, if are currently on a Next plan, you cannot use them.
1 line of mine is ok, but the other I am going to have to go somewhere else.

Interesting, one question I have is: Can we pay additional money on the phone to lower the monthly payment? I know that AT&T allows you to do this but I am not sure, if the others do.

With a similar offer last month on the s7, they said that I could have used the trade in gift card as a down payment and reduced my monthly payment... so, I imagine that the u can do down payments.
Best Buy already shipped my watch. No need to even go to the Samsung site.

Best Buy DOES NOT.

Verizon Only $672

That's all I really have to say. Amazing news! $28/month for 24 months.
Can these be purchased unlocked without a Verizon account? I read it will work on att

Was thinking Pixel xl, but I didn't expect this to $300 cheaper..holy crap!!
now the decision.....buy verizon and deal with bs verizon bloat, most likely no root and no bootloader unlock, or spend like $130 more and get the unlocked one hoping for root and hoping itll work perfectly on verizon with all bands.....
hmm.

I hear you! Tuff Tuff decision. I had an order placed with B&H but cancelled because of the uncertainties and Verizon's price point. Ugh, what to do? What to do?
So not only will it be $672, and the headphone promo, but you can also get the Stylo V 2 phone for $1 month over 24 months ($24 total), and $300 device credit on select smartphone trades. I'm sure Verizon will limit which smartphones will quality for the $300 trade, and I doubt my Note 2, 3, 4 will quality...... Unlike Tmobile thatis $200 trade for any working smartphone.

It's not even $200 cheaper... Right? What numbers are you looking at? That said, this is still a way better value, I agree!

The Pixel XL 128GB is $869. $869 - $672 = $197. Hence almost $200, haha.
Verizon keeps saying you only get headphones on a payment plan. wtf? nobody else says that. so if I buy outright, I can't get them?

Thanks. I have been looking for it to be on their main page and did not see it. I just ordered mine.
Nice! Just got mine ordered in silver. Free next day shipping (but that's considered Friday unfortunately). I'm pumped!
I looked to see what would happen if I selected the V20 on my primary line and the Stylo 2V on the second line. It does discount the Stylo 2V down to $1/month ($24 total).
Too bad would have $20 activation fee for each.
