That's only if your returning. It's not random.

Not true on T-Mobile.

I can confirm they are blacklisting the imei after you call samsung and start the refund process it happen to me.

Don't give out false information. If they back listed your phone it's because you already began a process with them.
They are not gonna just start blocking people's phones out the blue.

Of course they're blacklisting the IMEI, you returned it. And since the phone is classified as defective due to the recall, the IMEI is blacklisted so it can't be resold/reactivated.
If you don't call them in the first place Samsung won't do anything to your IMEI.

Im not giving false info out as if you can read i said (after you call samsung and start the refund process). check on the Verizon site of xda and on reddit, Verizon started blocking imei already its just a matter of time before all carriers are doing it, start the return processes with samsung or carrier or not its going to happen sooner or later they have every note imei in system. here is link as other people are getting blacklisted ( https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyNote7/comments/57omxn/verizon_already_blacklisting_note_7/ )

Again this only occurs after you make the initial contract...If you don't call anyone, your phone won't get blacklisted... I have Verizon and my note 7 works perfectly. This conversation is a non issue

Took mine back about a hr ago. IMEI is blocked now.

And I haven't taken my phone back, and my IMEI is 100% not blocked

Lol @ this thread. Title is a bit misleading.

No network in my Note after getting back from service center

After I got back my phone from the service center where I had given it for a display replacement claim, I am not getting any network. I tried 2-3 sim-cards. I guess the service center guys did a software update before returning my phone since there was a notification to update when I had given them the phone.
It's like, get range only 10% of the time the Note is switched on. I flashed different firmwares using ODIN but even that didn't help.
So is this an hardware problem?
Doubtful. Check the apn settings, see if it corresponds to your provider.

Why close the thread ? The OP hasnt got a solution yet !!
Anyway, As SpyderTracks said Check your APN settings, and maybe a different radio too !
Are you not getting a signal anywhere ? or just in one location ? have you checked to see whether there are any faults with your providers network ?

^What a joke.
First off, try another ALREADY active SIM card (a friends or something), if it works, this may be something to contact your carrier for tech support about, if it doesn't, contact the manufacturer.

Help! Anyone in Los Angeles area with a Nexus 4 (16gb) Not on T-Mobile

First off, not sure if this is in the right section but if its not please mods feel free to move. Also if this in anyway violates forum rules please remove.
With that said, as the title implies I need help from someone that fits the description of the title. Why? Long story, but I'll try summarizing it.
I bought a use nexus, everything works and its in perfect condition. Except that its blocked from T-Mobile. I hadn't notice this as I just recently tried activating it with them. before that I was with AT&T and everything worked perfectly. So what do I need? I would like to find someone who is willing to swap phones (same model). That only needs it for AT&T (or straight talk, etc). Like stated, phone is in perfect condition except a small scratch near the sim slot, Unlock boot loader, running Carbon ( I could put it back to stock). So please if you're willing to help me out PM me and we could work something out. Thanks.

If its blocked from T-Mobile it was stolen and the IMEI was blacklisted. Irreversible, unless you want to illegally change the IMEI
Google is your friend there

Nice information. So is there anyway to check a used phone if it is in any blacklist?
What do mean "it's blocked by Tmobile?"
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
As in bad IMEI number, up till yesterday I had no idea T-Mobile blocked phones. My guess is that the guy who sold it to me was doing fraud, report it lost so he could get another one. Reason being is that a few days later he hit me up asking me if I wanted another one of course I had no need for it so I just disregard his message...
Anyhow, if anyone is willing to do an swap. Let me know and we could work something out.
It works perfectly for at&t or any other carrier except T-Mobile :/

My guess is no, unless you call T-Mobile and ask em about the IMEI number. So if you're planning on purchasing a use T-Mobile phone call first!

Stolen/fraud and ATT will likely block the phone soon since they started sharing their blacklist database last year.
I feel for you. I also appreciate the full disclosure. But, I think that you're most likely stuck with it. After all this is a forum full of nexus owners so you'd be hard pressed to get a someone to even swap their nexus that's on the network of their choosing for one with a questionable esn. Perhaps if you sweetened the pot(throw in some $) you'd have better luck.
With that out the way... why didn't you demand a refund from the seller? Or at least swapped for the phone he text to try to sell you? Did you even tell the seller about the fact you couldn't activate the phone?

No if the company black listed the device then it will not work on that company again until they remove the black listing.

Thanks

IMEI blacklisting is now like ESN blacklisting has been, but goes a step further and if a phone is blacklisted on AT&T, they share that list with T-Mobile, and vice versa now, or at least that's what they are trying to do. It's done at the carrier end.
if the phone was reported lost rather than stolen would it still be blacklisted? And if i unlocked the phone, then took it to another country say Qatar and put a sim from a phone company there, would it work?
i believe my t-mobile galaxy s4 is blacklisted not for sure.

You can call the carrier and find out if its blacklisted... t-mobile was really easy to ask as long as you have the IMIE number.

Thank you everyone for your interest. At this moment there's no more free unlocks. My process worked so if you're interested in unlocking yours you can PM me.
And he will start charging us. I will rather call Tmo and ask for unlock code, for free.
Can anyone post and verify it worked?

Yes If your phone been fully paid and been used for over 30-60 days then this is not for you. I clearly said that in the OP. This is only for people with financed, blacklisted, blocked phones etc.

Sprint Samsung Galaxy S10 plus data issues turns out to be hardware issue

I want to write this in case there's other people out there who had the same problem as me. I pre-ordered the Samsung Galaxy S10 plus and I loved it. Then about a month and a half after having it I wasn't really able to make and receive phone calls and texts. Eventually after going into a sprint store with a tech center I found out after they connected my phone to a computer and ran a Samsung program they told me it's a hardware issue. But because I don't have insurance they refused to help. I called up sprint and customer service was no help but after they finally transferred me to tech support I was able to finally get REAL help. Tech support are the only people apparently that know about the problem and there's a lot of people who have the same problem. They will do what they call a tech exchange for free to replace your phone with a working phone. I hope this helps someone because I don't want anyone to go through the frustrating situation I did. I now have a brand new Samsung Galaxy S10 plus that works.

What's the build date on your current device ?
Was it purchased from sprint directly or Samsung? Was it a sprint branded device? Cheers.
