Samsung Galaxy S4 will not get past the Samsung "Custom" Bootscreen - Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dealing with a Samsung Galaxy S4 that will not get past the Samsung "Custom" bootscreen.
The ROM was stock Android KitKat. It was rooted, and Safestrap recovery was installed. The Xposed Framework was also installed. The device was working fine.
Then the power button broke, so installed Power Button to Volume Button and Shutdown & Reboot.
Then used Shutdown & Reboot to reboot. The phone rebooted to the Samsung "Custom" bootscreen, but did not progress beyond that.
Have not been able to get past the Samsung "Custom" (black) bootscreen since then. :crying:
Here's what's been done:
Tried to enter Safe Mode
Pulled the SIM card out
Pulled the battery out
Put the battery back in
Pressed (and held) the volume-down button while putting the battery in
Nothing has helped or been successful.
There was no microSD card in the device, so all the data is on it's internal storage.
At the least, I would like to get all the data off.
At best, I'd like to get the phone working again.
TIA. :highfive:

Is this an AT&T sgh-i337 phone?

Stuck at the boot logo normally means you have soft bricked it. The only way to recover is to find the correct factory firmware for you device and flash it via Odin. Make sure it the correct firmware! Flashing the wrong one is a problem.

samsung galaxy s5 hangs on boot

i have had the galaxy s5 for a while, i had it rooted with safestrap installed, but when i used safestrap to wipe all the data on the phone it refused to boot. it just hung in the "samsung galaxy s5" screen. so i used the power, home, and volume up key to go into the phones boot recovery. i did a factory reset from there. it still will not start. i can go into the phone recovery, but that is all. what do i do?

I would use Odin to flash back to NCG and start all over.

Galaxy S4: Won't Boot After Freezing, No Root Or Any Mods

Galaxy S4 Won't Boot
I've been unable to boot my phone past the "Samsung Galaxy S4" screen for the past few days. When I was using it a few days ago, it suddenly froze and then it got stuck on the logo-screen ever since. The phone was not rooted or modified in any way.The phone's warranty expired a few months ago, so I can't ship it to Samsung without paying ~$100. I suspect that the phone is soft-bricked, but I've been unable to un-brick it.
It's a Fido Galaxy S4 SGH-I337M.
Things that I've tried:
Flick, wiggle, and hit the power button to potentially dislodge a stuck power button
Flashing the stock firmware (I tried this several times)
Selecting "Firmware update and initialization" on Kies
I attempted to boot into recovery mode to clear the cache, but, I'm unable to boot into recovery mode. (I pressed the home, volume-up, and the power button until the blue screen on the upper-left corner appeared. Then I let go of the power button)
Flash TWRP in-hopes of being able to access recovery(It was a longshot).
Thank you for your help!

If it froze without you doing anything and you cannot boot it anymore then I am afraid you have hardware damage.

Is there anything that I can try to revive my phone?

Sm-g900f (uk) galaxy s5 - arrgghhhhh

Can anyone PLEASE help??
My partner opted to do a suggested update on her S5, but didn't notice the wifi was off. The phone seemed to have done the update, but shortly after it rebooted itself, then again, then again. The frequency of reboot got quicker and quicker and now it loops between the Galaxy S5 splash screen and the SAMSUNG logo, but doesn't go any further.
I managed to boot the phone into reset mode, cleared the cache and then did a factory reset, but that did nothing to prevent the boot loop.
I then downloaded Odin (ver 10.3.7) and what I believed to be the correct firmware (G900FXXS1CPLV_G900FVFR1CPJ1_G900FXXU1CPIW_HOME.tar.md5).
Having checked the battery was charged, I followed the instructions of connecting the phone via USB, loading the md5 in the AP, checking Auto Reboot and F-Set time in the options and clicking the Odin Start button. I had removed the battery, replaced it and then booted it into the update mode (Power, Home, Volume Down, then volume up) with the screen confirming I was in the right place (....do not unplug.... etc).
The file loaded, (green bar at top of the Odin window on my PC) and Odin reported success. I then disconnected the phone, booted in recovery mode, reset the cache and then did a clear data, factory reset.
The same symptoms prevail, STUCK IN BOOT LOOP!!!!
The only thing different is that if I plug it into the USB on my PC, after a while the phone tries to turn itself on and goes into either a boot loop or freezes on the Galaxy S5 Splash screen or the SAMSUNG Logo.
I am charging another battery (just in case that is in some way to blame) and will try again to replace the firmware, but could I be missing something, do I need to do anything with PIT (I thought this was all taken care of by Odin using the MD5 file) or is there some other test I can perform that will show if the phone is fried???
MANY THANKS for looking!
ur going correct, try to reflash it again through odin and dont disconnect phone until it boots into system, it is taking some good time, so just wait and dont do anything this time like clearing anything or restoring. i hope ull get success.
THANKS - but...
Thanks Rayzen, I will try the whole thing again, but I think there is something more to this than a firmware fault!
There and gone again
OK, so on the 4th attempt I got the phone to take the firmware using Odin, it reported success and the phone rebooted itself (several times) and eventually appeared to boot to a new factory reset.
I put in a SIM card and entered my email and google account details and left it charging over night. This morning when I tried to use it, the screen froze and then it rebooted itself. Hey presto, the phone is back to square one with a boot loop.
ANYONE (please) got any suggestions?
THANKS
No one??
same here, same symptoms, same feeling.
when flash gone right... i feel lucky.. but for half hour only, rebooted and angain in boot loop.
I cannot even boot in recovery. flashed TWRP. from 5 boots in recovery only 1 success.
When trying to wipe phone in TWRP - it hangs.
still trying to install some other (custom) rom. still no success.
hope never dies
same things happened here! now cant get samsung galaxy s5 to boot...............
Are you sure your using right firmware? as it took me a few versions before it booted last time this happened?
Could any please confirm what is the right firmware for samsung galaxy s5 900F
It took another 6 or 7 attempts, left it over night and was about to trash it when it booted.
I then received a 'software update available' message and tried installing it. First attempt put the phone back into boot loop so I reflashed it again using Odin.
That worked immediately the over the network software update installed and now phone is 100%
Very frustrating but I got there!
glad you fixed it! ive tried three different firmwares and still nothing.
trying this one atm
G900FXXU1ANE2_G900FEVR1AND1_G900FXXU1ANE2_HOME.tar
oh and how long do they take to boot when there are sitting at the samsung glowing screen?>
I'm in UK and used what (I had to guess) was the best firmware.
I'll let you know which version it was when I get home tonight.
BUT I had all the problems with a single version and it eventually came good.
I read somewhere that overwriting a different core (from specific providers) with generic firmware, could lead to a world of pain until it gets full replaced... not sure if that's a good description (or has any fact to it) but it seemed to be re-loading and re-loading and re........ for ages, finally cracked it.
well mines booted now!but getting constant errors about samsung push!
If it'still booted, you'very made progress!
Push issues are mentioned elsewhere and can (eventually be sorted) but if you have a booted phone you should be able to get an over the air software update installed from the service provider....?!

SM-G930V Verizon stucked into Recovery Booting... (BOOTLOOP), hard bricked? HELP!

Hello guys this is my first post.
I have a SM-G930V Verizon S7 that previously was in bootloop with OREO, but constantly rebooted at the beginning of the setup I mean when it says hello and so on.
I flashed Nougat without problems and booted normaly but then the FRP was doing his work, I could not boot since I didnt know the email or password.
I then flashed a file that I found to bypass FRP and succeded. I finally got it working very well.
After a while when I tried to clean bloatware suddenly frozen and then never booted again, I wanted to root but couldn´t.
NOW when I flash any ROM from Marshmellow , Nougat and Oreo, it says PASS in ODIN but I cannot enter the recovery.
Vol+, Home and Power gives me a blue line top left saying RECOVERY BOOTING..... then a blue screen saying ERASING... and the reboots again and again. The menu that I can get is the Maintenance Boot Mode (Vol- Power). This menu has 4 items:
1.Normanl Boot, 2.Factory Reset, 3.Safe Mode, 4.Power Down, and the only who works is power down.
I don´t know how much batery is left because I don´t know if in this menu or in download mode the battery charges.
I flashed the last OREO from SAMMOBILE, I also flashed the ROM wich I grabbed when using VZW Software Upgrade Assistant which supposed to be repairing the device but nothing whatsoever.
I don´t have any new ideas my head is full and hot now. PLEASE HELP will be appreciated.

Stuck in logo after flashing stock. Can't boot into recovery. PC doesn't recognize.

So, I rooted and tried flashing the stock ROM (from Sammobile, same country, same exact model [SM-G950F], I already had the stock ROM and had never flashed anything else to the phone other than root, June security update, my phone had July's) to see if I could fix a problem that couldn't be fixed with any other method I had tried.
Everything in Odin seemed to go well, I got the PASS green box at the end. But then the phone couldn't go pass the Samsung logo when booting up. I left it quite a few minutes, before trying to boot into recovery mode and wiping data. Only to realize that I couldn't boot into recovery mode. In fact, I can't even turn the phone off. No combination of hardware keys works other than power button + bixby + vol down, to get into download mode. But that's of no use, because when I plug my phone into my PC (with the same cable and port I used before to root and flash the firmware into it) it is not recognized by Odin or the PC.
It just has the Samsung logo flashing slowly over and over because I can't turn the device off. By the time the battery dies out I'll most likely have the logo burnt into the display.
I also haven't been able to find any help online. Everyone's suggestion is “boot into recovery and wipe data”, but I can't do that.
Is my phone gone for good?
