Why are all browsers on my Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime feels lag, heavy, and sluggish? - Galaxy Grand Prime Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime G530H, rooted with KingRoot and overclocked to 1.094 GHz - 1.19 GHz, interactive, cfq. It has 1.3 GB free memory and around 200 MB free RAM. Device cache is routinely cleared. Unnecessary apps have been removed. Basically, every browser from the heavy resources Chrome to the lightweight Opera Mini would lag even after clearing history and cache. What's causing it and how to fix it? (Also tell me what information I should give to better examine the cause since I'm new to this forum)

Opinions on RAM tweaks.

Hi guys, I've been playing around with different kinds of RAM tweaks(scripts and apps available here in xda and in the market) for a couple of weeks now.
Then a couple of days ago, I finally decided not to use any.
Personally, I think my phone is more snappy, letting android system manage its RAM.
Considering I have around 100 user apps now, the phone is surprisingly still very snappy.
This is what I noticed on android RAM management, when needed more RAM for certain apps(let's say games), android will kill those inactive apps giving some more RAM for the one app you are currently using. Even those persistent apps(like mails, messengers, etc) will be killed to free-up some more RAM.
So I guess with our phone's caliber/specs and current OS version, we almost don't need those RAM tweaks around, same goes with those task killers.
My phone's current settings using doomlord's kernel:
launcher - go launcher(with only few widgets, less than 10)
i/o scheduler - deadline(system default)
cpu governor - ondemand(system default)
CPU min/max frequency - 245MHz/1.3GHz
app2sd - ext3 partition ~900MB(all user apps located here - 160MB used of the total 900MB)
but my dalvik cache still resides in internal memory - 170MB used of the total 380MB
Note that the above is the same settings I used when I was observing my phone with and without RAM tweaks.
So guys please share your experiences on RAM tweaks if it's effective or not on your current setup.
I have to agree, the old android you did need all that tweaking, but I do believe now you don't, just have to give time, the first day I got my arc I wanted to throw it in the Wall! It was the worst phone! But after one update it was 80% better, now with the latest firmware update another 20% and hopefully the next update will even be more better, I just wish that there was more memory

I'm using the V6 Supercharger. It's more or less a tweak for the default Android RAM management system. I kinda like it. While it does make the phone appear slightly less smooth in some rare cases, in general everything is more consistent. No more 4-second waits before the Messaging or Contacts app opens etc. Aside that I don't feel I need anything at all.
Stock firmware, stock kernel (never bootloader unlocked), rooted and Supercharged. 4.0 software!
Yup, I also thought that the default phone and messaging apps are quite slow so I replaced it with touchpal and gosms. Definitely for some default apps, it's better to use 3rd party available from the market.
Btw, I also tried supercharger before but I realized it is not suitable for my usage as I always have more than 32MB of ram(32MB is the default android threshold setting before it starts killing those dormant/inactive apps). The script is very customizable though so it might help those heavy multitaskers.

I had the same problem before the latest update, but now messages, contacts up within seconds

guys my friend have s3 with the orginal sammy rom with latest update for our country and i used his phone played with it for like some hours but when opening any app launcher will closed wtf i feel its phone from like 2 or 3 yeras even my s1 never redraw launcher with opening many apps samsung what r u doing with ram management it sooooooooo ****y ram management now touch wiz become heavier than sense who said now touch wiz is so light on ram no its not the device have 780 ram as i know and wtf free ram only 190 or 200 my s1 with cm9 or aokp or sammy rom always have between 180 -150 with 5 apps on back ground
sorry guys but i'm really so sad for what sammy did on the software
sorry i thought its galaxy s3 international forum (its for us version ):silly:
please mod delete thread :cyclops:
780mb total ram? Looks like that's the international GS3 with the exynos quad + 1GB. While 1GB is more than enough for gingerbread it's not enough for ICS. Members with the US versions here have 2GB and do not have this problem. Please post in this forum instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1564
If you use Apex launcher there is an option in the advanced section where you can keep the launcher in memory to reduce redraws which might help

I disagree that 1GB is not enough for Android 4.0. It actually runs really well on my Vibrant with 380MB, but more RAM is appreciated when quickly switching between many applications (rare).
However, I have not run into problems with TouchWiz closing down on my U.S. variant. My first guess is that your friend installed some sort of app manager that kills background processes. This kind of program was absolutely necessary in Android 2.0, but the problem was mostly fixed in 2.1 and completely gone in 2.2. These days, it primarily results in poor user experience and, sometimes, noticeably lower battery life. I don't have proof that your friend did this, but the odds are very good.
I've seen this on both us and international versions both with ram to spare some devs in the i9300 section seemed to get it smooth no issues at all

RAM usage on stock ROM

Hello,
I have question about free RAM in stock ROM (Gingerbread) on my Motorola Defy+. I have only about 60MB free of 512MB. Is that normal? And how much MB have you free on your Motorola Defy/+? And sometimes Android is little bit laggy and I think that could be because of low free memory. And also is there some way to lock launcher to never close? Sometimes happens that launcher process exit during playing 3D games and some applications. And when I close app/game it takes so long to redraw all screens+widgets on launcher (4screens, 10widgets + 8shortcuts). Thank you so much for any reply :good:

android is linux based and linux utilizes most of the memory available, so having around 60MB free ram is not bad at all. i have 70-80 mostly on cm10, and my os is running smooth.
there are a few launchers (e.g. launcherpro) that can be locked into memory, but that does not guarantee that it wont be stopped during a high ram consuming app running (3d apps).
if you are rooted i advise you to try the v6 supercharger script, which is the best memory manager there is imo, makes your phone smoother and more lag-free.

LG L7 Slowly, bad performance rooted with ICS v10H

Hi people.
Recently,i rooted my L7 with ics v10h.
I installed CPU Master Free to set cpu maxim and mininum, but still has lag and is very slowly.
Aslo, i installed Memory Booster Lite or RAM Optimizer and it's incredible what i saw:
Code:
Total memory: 409 MB
Free Memory: 127 MB
Used Memory: 282 MB
This is my memory ram. And i don't have any apps on, only necessary for device and android. No game opened.
How is possible that Android ICS use more than 250 MB ? Is this possible? Or ICS is a sh*t ?
That's why games like Asphalt 5 don't works, got error like: "Unfortunately, Asphalt 5 has stopped !" C`mon guys, 1GHz and 400MB RAM and Asphalt 5 don't work?
Anybody can give me some apps for rooted android to save more ram memory?
And i don't know why, but i can't move or install apps on sd external, when i tried with some apps from google play, says only 3 locations at settings, Auto, Internal and External, but External it's just internal, if u know what i mean.
But, guys, what do you say? I think i must downgrade to android version 2.3.6 gingerbread.
And, finally, why i have only 409 MB RAM if on lg website, and on all websites where are presented LG L7 says
512 MB RAM ? Where is the rest? 103 MB RAM where are ?
I think the problem are with the internal and external memory. All apps and games are installed in internal memory, but now i have free 1,3gb of 2,7gb free.
So, anybody can help me to have this phone faster and better performance? please so much.
Have a nice day.
System takes a lot of memory... Sooo there always will be less memory available for user that specs are saying
Make a factory reset.
It's helping after too much flashing attempts...
Remove all the bloatware, including those silly "memory apps"...
Clean cache, dalvik-cache...
Dude, there's so many ways to clean up, and boost lagged android device...
You should also read a little bit more on this forum...
BTW>
This is a wrong section... "Optimus 7" is a WM7 device. LOL
L7 is damn slow, I am fed up with mine. Going to replace it soon with some other device such as the Galaxy S Advance..!!
Update to v10J, make a factory reset, root it and clean that LG bloatware and other useless stuff...
Still not fast enough? Buy a SGS3...
Peace.

Same here, well dont know if it's going to work with u but after i set the min cpu to higher number, set i/o scheduler to cfq and set governor to in demand, its quite acceptable performance now.
I also turn off all auto sync thingy and feedback touch. But again, im not using it for asphalt5,

Very laggy phone due to a simple live wallpaper on Samsung Galaxy J5

Hello,
I have Samsung Galaxy J5, I installed slim live wallpapers in my phone, but they make the system ui and locker lag a lot.. This problem I did not experience in a phone with lower specs and price (Samsung Galaxy Core 2), with 512 mb ram. I have 1.5 GB Ram in J5 but still it lags a lot.. Another thing which I noticed is that, in j5 the same live wallpaper uses about 100 or 150 mb of ram but in my core 2 it uses only 30 to 40 mb of ram.. It might be a cause of lag ? The System UI in J5/J7 (2015) is very laggy. I flashed cm 12.1 in j5 and tried same live wallpaper and it used only 50 or 60 mb of ram and the phone was very very smooth.. no lag at all..
Is ther anyway how to fix this ?
Best Regards,

It all caused by the launcher. I think that touchwiz in lollipop it is not verry good optimized. Try another launcher or update to 6.0 1 and report back the results.
