Redmi 3S bootloop after updating MIUI8.0.3.0 Global stable ROM - Xiaomi Redmi 3s Questions & Answers

TWICE. This is because I've disabled some apps (Hangout, Google Play Music, Google Play Books etc.) from Google Play. It causes my phone stuck at MI Logo and the powered by Android screen. If I enter recovery mode it shows a MI phone and a USB cable. At first I thought was wrong update package or what but it seems not. I didn't download the update package from anywhere else. It's the official update. And I saw someone saying if you disabled any apps then your phone can't boot in MIUI8. But seems MI never mention this problem. Well played Xiaomi.

yes, same thing happens to me too, disabling some google apps will cause bootloop

Do not disable any Google App. Ever. On the stock ROM. If you do so, you'll be stuck in a bootloop.

I guess, you did not make a backup before you disabled the apps (e.g. with TWRP | backup)?
If you did't - you can unbootloop by flashing the MIUI Global stable ROM again (all data on phone will be erased).
Uhm... by the way - here - is a list of apps that can be disabled

They do informed at MIUI Forum but I think they should state it together with the update package

Unfortunately I don't even unlock my bootloader at the moment so I don't have any recovery for my device

(XT1575) Moto X Style February Security Update Problem

Hi all
First I'd like to apologise if this thread already exists but so far I cannot find anything (please link me it if it does)(this is my first post as well)
I bought the phone a couple of weeks back. The phone had Android 6.0 marshmallow on it out of the box. The phone has been working perfectly up until today. This Morning i got a notification to say there was a new security update available. I downloaded the update (6mb) and installed it. I went off to work and when i took the phone out of my pocket it was rebooting. I waited for it to boot and after about 20 seconds of using the phone it became unresponsive, i.e. the screen froze, and a couple of seconds later the phone restarted. The phone rebooted constantly throughout the day when I tried to use it. When I got home I searched online for help but didn't find anything, although a factory reset can solve a lot of problems and so that's what I did. I setup the phone as a new phone but after about mins it froze and rebooted again. I have just turned the phone off and I am using a spare atm. I am considering a re flash of the software, however if any of you have had the same problem and have had an easy fix, please let me know. Any help is appreciated
Regards
TechGuy
It is odd that even after a factory reset it did this. Maybe try another factory reset and put your Google account on the phone but not any of the apps from Google restore. This will tell you if an app that you have installed is clashing with the new security patch or if the phones software is the culprit.

@TechGuy82 ... Go to the "General" thread (if you haven't already) the whole matter of installing the update is being thrashed out there.
Yeah check out the thread in general... Also just wanted to confirm that I'm having the exact same problem you are and have tried factory reset with the same results. I'm currently attempting a complete software flash with the CLARK_RETUS_6.0_MPH24.49-18_cid9_subsidy-DEFAULT_CFC.xml.zip using the flash all bat

After the factory reset, the phone is rebooting before i can even set it up.
Same issue. I even rerooted and flashed a different rom and it will do it. going to try flashing back to stock before the update and see what happens.
I have the notice for this update - I am not rooted nor have I installed TWRP (I'd like to, eventually)
What I do need to know:
I don't use the phone like most do - services except for buying apps are not necessary. I have downloaded and paid for large data base nature and astronomy apps which a dumb phone won't run. I like speed on the phone so a program opens faster.
Given that - I have disabled 95% of the social type apps on the phone. I've disabled all the extras from Motorola. I don't use, want or need them. What will happen if I apply this update? I
1. Will it refuse to run if something is disabled?
2. Will it override disable and open whatever it thinks it needs?
3. Will it just install where it needs to?
4. Will it bugger the phone?
I just read through what's in Google services and I don't seem to need that. The only thing would be verification of a bought app from Play Store. I disabled Maps, Location, Hangouts, Photos -- There's better paid apps in Play Store and that's why I need to be sure that Play Services doesn't do the checks to see if you bought the app.
I like the feel of this phone, the performance and I love the camera. I just want to use it my way. If I could carry all my reference books with me, I'd use a feature phone. I like to take nature walks and birdwatch.
Guys can anyone help, after full restore on 6.0 I can't normally reboot or turn on my phone .the trouble is when am turn on my phone it loads bootloader instead boots up, and in bootloader when I click "start" it booting up. Reboot do the same thing .

I have got answer for my own question.
It happens when before flashing in terminal type "fastboot oem fb_mode_set" , thats kind like bootloader force mode , when you reboot it always boots to fastboot. So after flashing i forgot to type "fastboot oem fb_mode_clear" to exit force mode.
Sorry for too many "reboot" words)
The only way I was able to resolve it was to do a full restore using this factory image. Leave it in fastboot and reflash. I tested before had wiping my sd card, removing my sd, wiping the internal, cache. Figured at that point easier just use a full stock image and see what happens.

Nexus 10 (manta), Lineage OS 13, bootloop with Nova Launcher

Hi,
A few days ago I experienced a boot loop on my Nexus 10 with Lineage OS 13, build 20170909.
I broke it down to a recent update of Nova Launcher - going back to an older version and preventing Google Play automatic updates fixed it for me.
There are a number of reports of the same symptom pointing to Nova Google Companion, TeslaUnread, IFTTT, and Action Launcher.
I don't think this is an issue in those apps, but rather caused in the OS - an App should not be able to bring down the OS to a reboot (and even worse, due to the automatic restart of the launcher, causing a reboot loop).
any ideas of a fix in the OS? something else to prevent this from happening again?
Regards
sthones
I confirm the same. Constant bootloop with Nova Launcher
I am also experiencing this on an older version of CM13. Clearing cache does not work. Any quick fix possible via recovery?

I had the same problem with a Galaxy S3 running OctOS (CM13 based Android 6.0.1). The Nova Launcher update caused my phone to crash and reboot as soon as it was unlocked.
I was able to disable Nova in recovery (TWRP) using the built-in TWRP file manager. navigate to /data/app/com.teslacoilsw.launcher/ and delete base.apk. This will keep Nova from loading on startup but will not delete your data. My phone worked fine after that, albeit without Nova.
Thanks a lot, removing base.apk stopped the reboot loop.
My device has just started a bootloop too, but I don't even have Nova installed on it (though I do on my phone), just the stock launcher in CM / LineageOS.
I reset it to factory defaults and then it boots, but when it restores my old apps it starts looping again, so one of them is the cause. I didn't learn anything from the log via adb.
Any ideas?
I discovered it was one of my apps causing this. I removed it and it boots ok. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=au.com.realestate.app&hl=en

Thanks for the hint, it was a real estate app from germany (immoscout24) which caused the problem at my device. Deleted the base.apk and everything works fine again.
Happening to me now, ffs im on the latest nightly and thats not fixed it.

Mine just started boot looping yesterday, but I hadn't installed any new apps in a while, and I have automatic app updating turned off (I also don't have any real estate apps installed, German or otherwise). Any hints on how to track down the culprit? Is there a boot log to look at?
Thanks!
Folks, there is a defect open in the official lineage bug tracking system. please add your comments there - maybe this needs some more support to get looked at:
https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/BUGBASH-1075
Same here. Started happening after it updated my apps yesterday. Removed nova launcher and all other Teslacoil software, problem remains. Can only start the tablet in Safe mode.
Seeing this on my device as well, except I am not able to remove the base.apk file because the app I installed somehow corrupted my bootloader such that I cannot get into recovery mode.
The culprit app? LinkedIn. Automatic app updates were turned off, and just before the bootloop started, the last thing I did was install that app. It finished, it rebooted, and hasn't stopped rebooting since.
When I put it into bootloader mode, it stops the continual rebooting and displays the "open panel" robot and "Downloading... do not turn off target". From there, all I can do is press power to start, then it goes back into rebooting. There is no way to get into recovery mode from there.
Also, attempting to keystroke into recovery mode just restarted the lineos infinite reboot.
Can't get into recovery, can't get the bootloader out of "Downloading" mode, and lineos continually reboots... Any wise sage souls have any ideas on this one? It looks like my device is bricked
It got me too - I don't have Nova Launcher installed. A few weeks ago the device started bootlooping with a build I had installed since september. I updated to one of the latest builds and had the same issue again. At the moment i got it working most of the time, but when i start certain apps it just reboots.
Seems to be independent to build version and can occur with different apps (at least thats what I've read here...).
Is this a Lineage Os 13 only thing or can I throw the device away now?
Greetings
I started having this issue this week as well. Oddly enough, I was still on CM12.1. In the middle of watching Plex and it rebooted, and has been boot-looping since. I did a factory wipe and while installing apps, it started looping again. I then installed the latest nightly of LOS13.1 and again, once it got part-way installing apps, it started boot-looping again. So this is not just a LineageOS thing, it seems to be an app update (I do have auto-update turned on).
I´m having the same problem without ever have the Nove Launcher installed. The bootloop started on my device several weeks ago. I tried to fix it by wipe partly or total and reinstall the latest nightly of los13 (20171126) and opengapps micro 27.11.2017 (and everything else).
As soon as I reinstall my apps, los goes back to bootloop. Sometimes, when I manually install only few apps, the system seems stable, until die next updates come by the play store.
So now I went back to stock rom until I´m getting aware of the problem beeing solved.
workaround, maybe
I wouldn'n call it a bootloop but rather a startloop
Anyhow, in my case I was able to break the loop by entering android's safe mode by simultaneously pressing vol up and down keys during startup. In safe mode, I was able to delete offending apps. After reboot, system is running again. Apps identified so far to make lineageos unhappy: open camera, yalp store, YouTube(!).., oruxmaps.
Removing offending apps works
Thank you!
I did the same with your advice... removed some apps and it works. I went back to September ROM, then update to Nov ASB ROM and it works fine.
ShevT is on it, here https://jira.lineageos.org/browse/BUGBASH-1052
and here: https://review.lineageos.org/#/c/197386/
Hope it gets fixed and merged soon... as this has been a pain the neck for a while, possibly related to a similar problem earlier this year.

I'm running CM13 and I have the same problem. I am not tech savvy with installing ROMs but managed to get to TWRP and did a reset to factory. Got part way thru optimising apps and the problem came back. I could only turn the tablet off via TWRP!
I don't mind going back to stock rom but not sure how to do it..best I look on here and start to educate myself..I'm 73yo so might not get finished before my time is up

You can also delete Google Play Services cache, this works pretty well in those cases. Even if you have problems trying to download a device system update.
Even it's data (in this case you'll have to add an account for Google's data backup again).
However, keep in mind this kind of processes won't work well if you have enabled apps, device features or Magisk modules that force device to save battery in some way.

Would be good to tell us which system you've installed.
Any custom ROM? Are you in stock?
On the first case, check ROM installation.
If it came with gapps preinstalled, better flash an updated version of that ROM (clean or dirty would change, depending of Android major verion in which that update is based), otherwise flash another gapps, I use OpenGapps.Try to flash, at least, nano gapps.
If you're on stock, things are quite different, since there you haven't the same way so solve things, more than than reflashing firmware.

Stock Android One version 9 (Pie) with regular updates. :silly:
Looks like something is screwed up there.
Is your device rooted?
I feel that would be better to backup your data and flash latest firmware with Mi Flasher tool.
The same is happening some times and on my A1 and is fully updated stock rom without root or any other thing...
I think it has to do with the latest version of Google store or Google services...

HELP! Device keeps rebooting because of Google Play Services!

Hi guys. I have an issue with Mi A1 that keep soft rebooting or some sort. It goes randomly black screen and went to home screen as normal. After 15 secs later it will randomly goes into black screen again.
This particular issue happened when i started to clearing storage on Google Play Services because it consumes so much storage. And after clearing the storage it doesnt pop-ups any message but randomly goes into black screen again.
Any recommendations or suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Maybe in settings > accounts remove your google account and add it back in again.
Hello. I have the same problem now! I have not touched anything, just wanted to check something and it started to restart as the author - a black screen at some time constantly. I put the phone in sаfe mod - the same. Android pie stock, not rooted.
Maybe it's the play service version. Open the app info of play service hit the 3 dots and uninstall the updates. Or install an older version from apkmirror if it's possible on stock. Prevent automatic updates in play store settings.
I'm using Google Play services beta (frequently updated) since a couple of months without any issues/problems. what so ever.
The issue isn't very common as there aren't that many reports regarding that.
Have You tried to remove Your Google account as suggested above?
As last resort, do a factory reset.
BTW: My A1 is 100% untouched stock, latest patch installed.
I did factory and it is ok now. I haven`t that time to enter apps and options - about 10 seconds only.

Here began a similar problem. Yesterday, while charging, my device started an infinite reboot loop. I can't tell if it's on Google Service. The only thing that changed in my use was the July security patch I installed this week.
I did a factory reset and it didn't work for long, even in standby the device goes into bootloop.
I do not know what the problem, I will try to downgrade.
Hey man. I just came here see if anybody else has faced this problem too. I was using the phone fine. I was using Telegram and some apps were updating in PlayStore and then suddenly this started to happen. I can't just do factory reset as I have photos that I haven't backup yet. I'm confused what should I do. How to retain my photos?
I have the exact same problem! No idea why, I did nothing unusual...
I have Xiaomi Mi A1, latest version, not rooted.
I did a factory reset and it did not resolve. I downgraded to other versions and now no rom stock works anymore, all are in bootloop. I don't know what else to do, they don't leave XIAOMI's logo.

I've tried to delete updates for Google app, and it just got worse... Now the phone can't even turn on... It shows the screen of "android one" for about 90 seconds, then screen becomes black, then it shows an error: "Can't load Android system. Your data may be corrupt. If you continue to get this message, you may need to perform factory data reset and erase all user data stored on this device".
Please help :crying:

Happened to me when I unsubscribed from Google play services beta program (which essentially clears its data). Phone booted fine but always crashed few seconds later. I rebooted into the safe mode, let it update to the latest stable versions of all necessary Google apps/services and after that it has been working fine ever since. Not sure if its your case, but certainly worth the try.

Apps Update atleast Thrice

Hi All,
So I'm facing this weird issue, where my app updates from the Google Play Store don't seem to stick.
I started having this problem when I was using LOS, and I thought maybe the ROM was the issue. But then, I switched to OOS, same thing.
An app will update and play store will show all apps updated. Then after a few hours the app will update again, and then once more. Usually the update sticks after the third update.
Also, even though I haven't kept a log, but it doesn't seem specific to some apps, it appears to be the case with all apps.
I use Magisk for Titanium Backup. But nothing else.
Also, I thought this was an issue with apps restored with Titanium Backup, but that isn't the case.
PS: I haven't tried without Magisk, as I wouldn't want to use the phone without that.
Any ideas?

Currently using Magisk on OOS and I do not have this issue, so root isn't the issue. I think it may have to do with the play store itself, as it doesn't seem to actually update the apps until the third time like you said. The only two solutions I can come up with are as followed:
1. Hold down on the play store app and clear the data on it and then disable the app (Make sure the option to go back to the factory version comes up after you press disable) and then re-enable the app again. Open it and see what happens afterwards. The idea is to get the play store to re-update itself and fix the issue.
2. Get on a computer and fastboot flash OOS again and see if it persists after you get your phone set up again.

Open it and see what happens afterwards. The idea is to get the play store to re-update itself and fix the issue.
2. Get on a computer and fastboot flash OOS again and see if it persists after you get your phone set up again.
