Charging with a uk converter - Moto Z Force Questions & Answers

Will be receiving my Z Force soon to UK but was wondering if using a U.S to U.K converter for the charger plug would lose any charging power. Want to use the full potential of the charger. Not sure which other alternative should be used.

No it works perfectly, that's how mine is and it charges very fast.

Galaxy Note without original charger

Hello to everyone!
I have one simple question: do I risk something if I charge the Note with another charger than the original one?
I don-t know, but I think no.
I charged many time my note with htc charger and gs2 charger.
Ciao

I almosr never use the original charger. I use the charger that came with the bluetooth headset and everything is fine
It doesn't matter what kind of charger you have. The only thing you must look at is the voltage of the source (5V DC) and it must be a micro usb plug

im using my old htc hd2 charger as the samsung one seems to have packed up and isnt charging properly
The easiest way to charge your Note is of course via a USB>Micro USB cord plugged into a laptop or PC (where you are guaranteed the voltage is correct), however if you are using a generic or knock off wall wart charger than provides a micro USB connector there is some small chance that it will not charge your Note.. look for the charging icon and if its not charging, toss the charger and get another.
There is no specific risk to the device, provided that it (the charger) has a micro-usb intended for charging generic devices..its just that some modern portable devices have a stricter requirement (tighter tolerance) for charging voltage and simply will not charge outside that voltage range.. my BB9930 does exactly this..

I'm using an hd2 charger without problems

Since all micro/mini usb chargers have the same voltage, and vary only in the power output - the only problem you could face is slow charging, or no charging at all if the charger doesn't have enough juice. But it certainly won't harm the phone.
I'm using my old Nokia N900 charger without problems
I'm using an old HTC mains-to-USB and a Nokia microUSB cable...
My stock charger has a slight squeal, so I usually use the charger for my BB Curve 9300. Does totally fine.
My Note was purchased from expansys UK but shipped in from mainland Europe. As it was to be sold in the UK, expansys had to supply a UK adapter rather than an EU one ...I received an HTC adapter with my phone. At first, I was worried, but discovered that it works beautifully with my Note. Charges faster than generic Samsung chargers too! You should be fine using another standard charger

For the first 3 weeks I was using a blackberry (original) Bold II charger.
I noticed charge time was too long. And maybe even battery life was shorter.
Im not 100% sure about the second statement but the first is confirmed.
When I started using the Note charger it was faster. Not super fast compared to iPhone or iPad but faster than using the Bold charger.
I never use my samy charger..Im using my DHD charger..no problem at all..

Tested three microusb from my "old" htc hd2, two original nokia microusb, and a sony ericsson original microusb.
HTC and Nokia dont work. Can't charge and no data connection.... I only can charge and data connect with the samsung and the sony ericsson microusb cables. I cant understand!!!
(the nokia cable also cant work with hd2!!)
microusb is an standard???
HTC minijack stereo earphone dont work with samsung, also dont work the nokia earphone...
minijack stereo is an standard???
Regards.

Most modern USB chargers should be fine (I use my old iPhone charger for the Note, for example.) Watch the power output though - some tablet chargers are rated at 2A+ and that could overdrive your charging circuit and cause damage. If you make sure your charger is about 1A (and 5V, obviously) then you should be fine.

I use a nokia charger to charge mine!
Make sure it gives you 1A of output and you are fine!

Well emuX said it all!
1A of output and 5V and you are fine!
Actually the charging current is limited by internal resistance of the battery, so the battery effectively "accepts" charge. Charging current is not "pushed" in by the charger...
obviously a charger from say a BB is likely to be current limited and so longer charging times would be expected, but an iPad charger will work fine.

I wouldnt worry too much, I charge my note with my iPhone charger purely because the USB port faces a different way so I can actually fit it on my plug extensions without loseing 2 sockets.
Pretty much anything with an output of 5Vdc and a minimum of 1A will do just fine.

USB charging from a PC - useless?

I've noticed a massive difference when using the mains charger compared to using a USB port on a PC, the former charges the phone really quickly, the latter barely charges the phone at all. Has anyone else found this too? If so is there anything I can do to improve the charge rate? I'd rather not have to get a second charger at work, just in case I forget to charge the phone overnight

That is actually intentional. If the phone recognizes the connection as USB to a PC or car stereo it only charges at 1000ma as that is the max current most of these devices can provide. The stock charger provides 2 amps. You can pick up an inexpensive charger and USB on Monoprice or Amazon that will charge your phone much faster.

Quick charge 2.0 is working pretty good

I have to say that the Snapdragon 800 Quick Charge 2.0 feature is working pretty darn well. I measured 60% charge in 1 hour (just got the device yesterday so it's a fresh configuration)
Love that feature. Definitely makes worrying about battery life a little less stressful.

doesn't work for me, takes a few hours to charge. do I need a special wall charger?

I used the standard charger. Btw the 60% charge in one hour is just based on one observation. It was my first charge. I started charging the device from 1%. An hour later it had already 60%
Don't know yet if it will slow down when it reaches the full 100%.
Anyway, it's just a first observation. Need some more observations to determine the average charging time. (Wonder if there's an app for that)
Use battery indicator made by a developer starts by F letter

It's susposed to be USB 3 I think and have an output of 1.5-2A in order to quick charge... though any info is severely
lacking.
You need the charger that is supplied with the phone to be able to use the QuickCharge 2.0 feature. I don't know if QuickCharge is also restricted to the USB cable that is supplied with the charger.
Other generic chargers (like chargers you got with your phone 2 years ago) will charge your phone but not with QuickCharge. So it will take longer, just like any other phone without the feature.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought it was required to use the specific QuickCharge charger to use this feature, and yeah, it does charge a whole lot quicker this way!
EDIT: These new chargers are backwards compatible so you can also charge phones without the QuickCharge chipset with the special QuickCharge charger but they will charge normally and will take a long time to reach 100%, just like the ol' days.
i use the charger of xperia z because the written specifics are the same of z1 charger. wrong?
Cable is funky. Tried two other cables because the standard one is so dang short and both resulted in charging slow as a snail...
Oops, maybe I was wrong and doesn't the current charger support Quick Charge 2.0. My Z1 came with the Sony EP800 charger. It seems that they already used this charger even before Quick Charge 1.0 was released.
Anyway it seems that Quick Charge 2.0 adapters may come soon. The components are already on the market http://www.dataweek.co.za/46872n
Quote: "Tests confirm that smartphones with high-capacity batteries can be fully charged in as little as one hour using Quick Charge 2.0"
Oh yeah!
Anyway, my Z1 still charges pretty fast. But no problem when I can get a full 100% charge in an hour...!. Would be even better when they put this technology in a portable charger. Maybe the newly released http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/products/accessories/portable-power-supply-cp-f1lam/ ?
Mine charges seriously slowly with the bundled charger/cable, not sure if I've just got a duff one. Charging it throught usb plugged into the computer charges it at a normal speed. Planning on picking up the dock when it finally gets released, hopefully thatll give a good speed.

I had an hour between ordering the phone and the dock from Sony store.
I got the dispatch note about the phone and hoped that it would not be long until I got the dock aswell.
Phone dropped off at work a couple of hours ago. To my amazement, there was a dock in the box!!
So I'm guessing I will be getting an extra dock in a few days then lol.
This is obviously not a problem, as I will take the second one and rip it out of its shell and use that as the charger I bring around with me.

Ok.
No problem anyway, as I already got one, so atleast i don't have to play the "flap" game
I'm not sure that the charger that comes with the Z1 is Quickcharge 2.0.. The link in the original post says it won't be available before 2014?
There IS a differrence when using generic USB cables.
I've got consistent measures in some tests:
Sony Xperia Z1 original cable: 50-60% charge in 1 hour
Sony Xperia Z original cable: 50-60% charge in 1 hour
Sony Cybershot TX30 original cable: 50-60% charge in 1 hour
Sony car adapter original cable: 50-60% charge in 1 hour
Generic USB cable brand "A": 25-33% charge in 1 hour
Generic USB cable brand "B": 25-33% charge in 1 hour
All tests done with the Xperia Z and Xperia Z1 charger (they are the same).
The only difference is both generic USB cables are longer (6 ft vs 3 and 4 ft)
I dunno why but the USB cable has a lot to do.

I used a usb extender and the charging speed went terribly low.. I think it is due to loses in the cable...
I'm having trouble charging over usb, is it because usb doesn't provide enough current or do I have a faulty handset?
Edit: When I say charging over usb, I mean from a usb port on a laptop.
I remember when tablets with large batteries couldn't be charged from some chargers, or via a USB port, so I wonder it this is the problem?
Also, do we know for a fact that the Z1 supports Quick Charge 2.0? I thought this had been delayed, and probably just supported the older version - as seen introduced on the Xperia S.

I got latest DBT kitcat
charger is UK, and i stay thailand so i use travel adapter
is it that could be couse even on adapter says 10A

1200 is the default charging value, with screen on. With some custom kernels you can also charge at 1900 with the screen being on. Screen off is 1900 anyway (with proper charger and cable).

Fast charger with plug adapter...will it work?

Im waiting patiently for my nexus 6p to arrive in a couple of days. I ordered it from amazon uk (i live in greece) and comes with the UK "plug" . If i use a uk-to-eu converter plug with the fast charger work properly or charging will become slower?

Yes, it will charge normally (rapid charge). The EU adapter is merely physical, not changing voltage or frequency. You may want to get some additional (longer) cables though.
