for me yes latest android 6.1.

All I did to root mind was install T.W.R.P and the latest su and it was done. Are you planning on staying on stock or using a custom ROM ?
I have just installed ZONIK's performance ROM on my J5FN and it's excellent

Well, I want to root my jf500fn with stock rom after the last update from OTA to android 6.0.1 stock rom J500FNXXU1BPH1.
I am not sure how to do this as no compatible twrp and cf auto root found for this device. I am afraid not to brick the phone.
Any help much appreciated.

I think I'm doing everything correctly but my phone is not rooted. I'm going to twrp after manually reboot in recovery mode by disconnecting the battery. I'm going to install, checking the last SuperSu zip, everything OK, reboot, but my phone still not rooted. Or is it only what the root checker is declaring. Root access is not properly installed.

Yeah, right, but that post is almost one year outdated. Try with the official TWRP from vince2678. Don't forget to activate OEM unlocking and debug from developers options in stock settings. Cheers.

FWIW... I purchased my phone on June 19, and was able to root it the next day using CF-Auto-Root by exactly following the directions in chainfire's thread. (It did trip Knox, but that wasn't a concern for me.)
Today I successfully installed Philz Recovery version 6.58.9 via Odin 3.07, exactly following the directions in this post from the main philz thread, and it worked fine.
There were a few mis-steps in the process where the root or recovery didn't "take" properly, but in each case it turned out I'd done something wrong in Odin - used the wrong file or left a box checked/unchecked.
Phone specs:
SM-G900W8 on Rogers
Build number LRX2IT.G900W8VLU1BOC1
Kernel version 3.4.0-4100894
Android version 5.0 stock (no upgrades applied before applying root or recovery)
So there may be hope for you?

Aw man, I'm so sorry. There goes the hopes I had for all the similar threads/posts with 900F devices.
However, it's quite rare to see the community here fail altogether. Give it some time - there'll be a solution soon!

TWRP Recovery Installation for N910G

Hi all,
Recently I have updated my N910G to Lollipop v5.0.1 via OTA updates. I have flashed TWRP recovery v2.8.7.0 with Odin v3.0.9 successfully but when I get into recovery mode, I am still seeing the default Android System Recovery instead of TWRP recovery. Does anyone know how to rectify this issue? What should I do to get TWRP recovery installed on my phone? FYI - Reactivation Lock is OFF and Current Binary and System Status as shown in Download mode is "CUSTOM". Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to root my phone without a custom recovery since CF Auto Root currently does not support Android v5.0.1 for my phone variant. :crying:
Any help from anyone?
Hi. I don't know what is the issue, but you could try another version if TWRP. And you flash it with Odin's AP tab, aren't you?

Thank you for your reply but can you be more specific ?
1. What do you mean by 'both version works'? What VERSION of TWRP work, please mention version number which is working for 8.2.2.0.
2. I'm not gonna flash any rom. I'm running version 8.1.10.0 and the latest version 8.2.2.0 rolled out by Xiaomi 2 days ago OTA update. I haven't updated yet as I fear that my TWRP will not work after updating to 8.2.2.0. Users reported that they upgraded from 8.1.10.0 to 8.1.15.0 and TWRP did not worked.
Which method did you follow for TWRP?
Hi, Could you please share the steps or link to install TWRP and root 8.2.2.0
I bricked my Redmi note 4 earlier when I was on 8.1.15.0 which was my mistake. I just want to be doubly sure that I have correct version files and correct procedure to follow.
Thanks

Rooting Moto G4 XT1622 running Nougat 7.0

Has anyone successfully, and without subsequent issues, rooted the g4 XT1622?
I have unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP. Have tried flashing two separate versions of Super SU (version 2.78 and 2.82) .
Each appears to flash successfully and complete but when rebooting phone stays on a black screen.
I then have to reboot into recovery and restore the Nandroid backup.
I tried Kingroot but that says no solution for this device.
If anyone has managed it I'd be grateful for the detail.

Indeed you are correct. The stock kernel does not have an exploit for root access, that's why SuperSU and Magisk leave you at a black screen upon flashing the zip file. Having any custom kernel should fix the problem(Vegito or ElementalX).

Thanks - I may be trying to do something wrong but when I tried to flash ElementalX from the app it returned a message that the device needed to be rooted to install ElementalX. I wasn't sure where to go from there.
yes, i am running rooted G4 (xt1622) with TWRP and super su 2.78 now. as far as I can remember, there is one line of code like 'systemless=true' (or something similar, it's easy to search online) to enter via the Linux terminal. Then it can be rooted successfully. without that line, i got a soft-bricked mogo g4 as well (black screen forever).
it's a shame that the rooted phone cannot install OTA updates at all. I am still on Android 6.0.1 (which is the stock rom and very old). I am planning to restore to stock then upgrade to Nougat recently.

yes, i am running rooted G4 (xt1622) with TWRP and super su 2.78 now. as far as I can remember, there is one line of code like 'systemless=true' (or something similar, it's easy to search online) to enter via the Linux terminal.

I really appreciate your great help. still confused about the procedure that needs to take:
plan a:
1. go back to ATHENE_MPJ24.139.23.4(the current one, 6.0.1), everything including the stock recovery
2. wait for OTA, update a couple times to the latest nougat
plan b:
1. flash the file from your link which is ATHENE_NPJS25.93-14-4,
2. is this the end?
I do notice the difference in the name: MPJ vs. NPJS, does that matter? I flashed several phones, but never figure out what the names meant.

MPJ = Marshmallow
NPJS = Nougat
I think flashing last firmware is the best thing to do in your case. I have a batch file you can use if you want

Note: You do need minimal adb & fastboot files inside flashing folder (You probably already know that but just to be sure)
