Front camera broken or obstructed? - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've recently had to replace my LCD for the S5. I'm not entirely sure if this is an installation error or the dimensions of the phone screen I received are off but my front camera displays black and I see 3/4 of the notification light. It's obviously being blocked by the screen itself. Is basically my only option to have a front camera is to replace the phone screen? which is more difficult than replacing the entire LCD. What would you do in this situation?

Apple camera LCD screen flash idea

Seeing as the HD has no flash, Apple have a neat trick on the webcam Apple LCD home screens when you take a photo of yourself the LCD goes full bright and goes all white for a split second whilst it takes the photo. This acts as a flash substitute.
Could a similar utilisation be found or made for the HD, perhaps a script which can turn up the brightness on screen, white out your screen and then activate shutter release then return settings to normal. This would obviously only help you if your using self camera - rather than the 5megapixel camera.
Might be a useful too though, if there is a way to activate the camera outside of the normal HTC tool for doing so.
This trick could also be applied to other self facing camera types.

HTC HD2 dropped, Black Screen, but touch and whole phone works well

Hi
I've dropped my HD2. Everything is working, including touch screen, I can unlock the phone, I can answer the call, but screen is black, not broken.
What should I do? Does the lcd screen replacement will be sufficient? In that case, could the screen be ok, but some other display "processor" could be dead? I'm asking because I'll try to this on my own.
Could simply be the lcd cable has slipped slightly but probably more likely an LCD replacement needed.
You need remove rear housing & have a look & make a decision from your findings/testing.
hello
I've got a little update - lcd screen is working well - I mean it displays the image, the only malfunction is backlit. Right now when i use flashlign I can actually see whats on screen. Do you have experience or think that backlit connection can be repaired? Do You have any schematics for hd2' lcd ?
I suspect new LCD required by sounds of it. LCD can not be stripped for repair so after basic inspection of external connection replacement is only solution & not expensive due to falling cost of HD2 parts.

[Q] Where is the Magnetic Sensor located?

Hi all
So my S4 had an issue where it kept flashing the S View Cover UI (the black display with clock) even though I don't even own a S View Cover or use a magnetic case. I took it to Samsung Smart Care, they gave it a new mainboard, but the issue was still there.
I took it back to them yesterday, this time they replaced the entire LCD with the Frame, phone looks brand new and the S View issue seems to be gone.
So I'd just like to know out of curiosity, does the Magnet sensor come in the Screen assembly e.g. in the frame? If not, where is it located?

[Q] Blue line on every picture

Attached is a picture of the camera completely covered up facing down on my desk, so you can see the issue pretty clearly.
In low light conditions it always appears, is this an expensive fix because I don't think its software

Looks like a possible crack in the glass or more likely a fiber /dust inside the phone on the image sensor.
I'd you haven't had it too long or tripped Knox, I recommend swapping it out in the store.

Help with broken screen

Yesterday, my note 3 made a fall from a slip in my hand, and now, there's a little crack at the top left on the screen. The screen is not turning on, and I think it is no more registering touches.
Amazingly enough, the glass protector does not have any scratch, but I can clearly see small crack in the LCD behind.
The sound is working fine.
I have already opened the case and have unplugged and re-plugged the connections, still no change.
My question: I want to confirm whether the screen and digitizer have been damaged. Any ideas/ advise on how to confirm this ?
Basically, I want to go ahead and buy a screen and digitizer replacement and perform the change, and I didnt want to invest on something which might not be needed.
Please provide your help and views guys.
Thanking you all.
Screen fixed. Camera issue
Just to post an update.
I had ordered a screen and digitizer for my N9005. Yesterday, with a rather fast shipping, it got delivered.
I carried out the swap, ie, removed all sensors, camera, vibrator, mainboard from my existing and transfer to the new screen/digitizer.
All went okay, screen, touch, all sensors, front cam.
Just that my rear (main) camera shows some artifacts on the image - on the camera screen and the photo taken. See attached.
It seems like it is showing some piece of glass fractured or scattered. Any help on how to proceed from here ?
I was trying to remove the middle plate (where the outer lens is found), so see whether this lens is broken, but as per my tests, I see that the phone refuses to power on once this plate is removed.
Info: The photo attached is when I pointed my camera to shoot over a white wall.
Any help is welcome, please.
