LG G2 D801 shows up as LGD500BK in LG Mobile Support Tool! - G2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This is a bit crazy. I dropped my LG G2 TMO D801BK and bought a replacement. Now, when I connect to LG Mobile Support tool the old phone shows as an LGD801BK but the newer one shows up as a LGD500BK.
The new phone came stock with 4.2.2 and then a series of upgrades from TMO appeared. It gets as far as D80130a and when D80130b shows up it fails in the update, reboots, and Google Play Services keep halting and almost all the other apps don't work.
My old LG G2 is now sitting at D80130c and works fine except for the cracked screen.
Is there anyway to just copy everything off the old phone onto the new one ROM and all or fix the newer phone to identify properly? I've noticed that the new phone IMEI in the rom is different from the one inside the case... any thoughts?
Really appreciate any assistance.

Update: Strange IMEI info ...
Opened the back of the G2 and the printed IMEI doesn't match what the phone reports. Interestingly enough when I do a check the one inside the back cover comes back as a LG G2 and clean but the one that the phone reports comes back as a "prototype" from LG and not a G2 at all... I'm wondering if someone used a prototype IMEI when "refurbishing" this phone to get around a blacklist.
Thoughts?

[Q] LG G2 Stopped working after recharge

Hi,
My name is Lars, and i have a problem with a friend's LG G2.
He dropped his phone couple weeks ago, I installed a new screen for him since I did it for free it was cheaper for him.
I frequently repair phones so everything worked fine. One week later, I flashed CloudyG3 1.2 ROM on his phone, which I was using too.
Yet again everything works fine, the day after he turned on smart charging and the phone was charging extremely fast! We went away and when we came back the phone was quite hot and it wont boot anymore, I installed a brand new battery to be sure it isn't the battery but the phone still doesn't work, if we connect to the power it gets a little hot but it wont boot or do anything at all.
Any one of you guys have an idea what could be wrong?
Greetings
Anyone?

G2 VS980 - "No SIM card - No Service"

I recently bought a used G2 (Verizon model) from a highly rated eBay seller. It arrived today and I began the process of transferring my number and activating my Page Plus sim card I would use in it. I popped it in and the phone simply won't recognize it. It keeps telling me there isn't one or that it isn't inserted correctly.
I was worried the SIM card was bad so I popped it into my husband's G2 and it worked fine. I did a hard reset/factory data reset with no luck. Tried leaving the phone off for a few minutes, reinserting SIM, then powering back on... Nothing is working. I have come to terms that this means the phone simply needs to be sent back, but thought I'd post here to see if anyone has had this type of problem? I don't know if any other info would be helpful so simply ask for it and I'll post it in an edit. Thanks everyone!
Oh and it is stock / no root / Android 4.4.2 as well

it seems like yes, the sim card slot might be damaged. or could it be that your phone isnt a vs980? a refurbished phone maybe another carrier. like d800.. i see lots of d802 that end up beign a d800 motherboard..
read this thread and see if some had the same issues as you do..

How can you flash back to stock?

I picked up the Boost variant Stylo 2 at Best Buy since it was only $50. I have no intention of activating it on boost, its just a nicer, cheaper iPod (hard to beleive people actually still buy iPods). Im hoping to unlock if possibe in the future though.
I took out the Boost Sim and popped in a Sprint sim on first boot, then tried a TPO sim just for giggles (said invalid sim with TPO). Anyhow Ive noticed that there no Boost or Sprint bloatware whatsoever on the device and im wondering if ive crippled the network capabilities by putting different sims in, as ive read Boost now does that (not even sure where i read it). I figured Id try and see if I re-flashed it with a stock ROM if id see some Boost/Sprint software, only Im finding it impossible to do so. I managed to find a ls775 kdz (zv3) here along with the lgup ls755 dll's but the phone isnt recognized properly. Theres literally no support from LG for this phone. I havent taken any updates and running zv5.
EDIT: I watched an unboxing and didnt see any boost/sprint software on the device either. Nevertheless, would still like to know if I can flash back to stock if I screw it up messing with it.
Kdz zv3
Did u ever get the zv3 kdz to find your phone i did hit me up

[No service] rooted v20 h910 connection issues

I bought an unlocked h910 on ebay a little while ago and rooted it the day I got it by following the typical root guide. Everything seemed to go smoothly with rooting, and I have SuperSU and the stock rom. I have had terrible connection problems ever since rooting. I never actually used the phone with a sim before rooting it (my other device takes micro sim and I didn't have an adapter, do I got a nano and activated over the phone after rooting). As soon as I put the activated nano sim in, the phone would lock onto a tower and continuously drop and say "No service", then lock again, repeat repeat.
After a little while, the phone magically fixed itself and was working OK for the rest of the day. Then the next day, I started getting the No service problem again. I tried lineageOS with the werewolf kernel, but that didn't quite work out due to crashes. So, I figured I would do the typical restore procedure from this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/stock-att-h910-stock-recovery-boot-image-t3528060
That went through OK, and I figured everything was fixed, but then I started getting the No service problem again after a little while :crying::crying::crying:. At that point, I decided to do some reading and it appears that some folks with unrooted phones have had connection issues on the v20 that they got warranty replacements for. I am concerned that there may be a hardware problem that is causing the No service issue if other people have experienced this too. Unfortunately, since I never used the phone with a sim before rooting it, I don't know if it was working correctly before rooting or not. I can say that it was sold as "new, sealed box", however, with original packaging.
Now I am at a bit of an impasse. The service on the phone works sometimes, but is not reliable enough to be usable, so I went back to my other device and have had the v20 sitting around doing nothing for a bit now. I am tempted to send it back to LG for repair, but it has clearly been rooted already and since there are no kdz files available for the h910, there is no way to revert to complete stock. So I suppose I am hoping someone can give me some ideas here. I have been trying to figure this out for weeks now and haven't had much luck. As I see it, here are the options:
1. Perhaps this is a software problem that someone on the forums knows how to fix, which would be ideal. I have seen some threads regarding modem settings, but none of the ones I have seen apply to the h910.
2. If this is a HW problem, I could send the phone back to LG as rooted and effectively guarantee I will have to pay the repair cost. I have no idea how much that will be, but I would like to avoid it.
3. I could intentionally brick the phone and send it back claiming that it bricked itself. Seems ridiculous, but I have heard of this before.
4. Sell the phone as rooted. Haven't had much luck in that regard yet.
I must say that having a very unreliable phone has not been a pleasant experience so far. Can anyone offer some advice?
Does anyone know if LG is going to make a fuss about the phone being rooted if I send it back to repair? Can they at least reflash it to stock kdz for free?

LG G6 Bootloop -- Don't Know What Else to Do! -- Please Help!

I have an LG G6, international version (H870DS) that has been having bootloop issues for a while now. For the first few months it would come and go -- sometimes it would be a week between issues, sometimes just a few minutes. I tried many things, multiple factory resets, removed the SD card, deleted possible troubles apps, basically anything I could find online to try. But, for a while the phone would work pretty much normally until it decided to restart and loop.
But... about two weeks ago the phone got into its bootloop and never came out -- I can't get past the LG logo screen anymore. If I let the phone go for a while eventually it gets to a green screen talking about a RAM dump. One time I managed to get it to a screen talking about unlocking the bootloader but that part got a bit over my head. Basically, I can let the batter die but as soon as I plug it in, the phone starts lopping again for 15 minutes or so, eventually ending at that green screen.
Over the last few days I have tried downloading a stock KDZ file to try to flash stock ROM back onto the phone. The problem is, I can't get the phone to communicate with my computer no matter what I do. I've downloaded LGUP, installed all the drivers, tried the LG Flash Tool and pretty much anything else I could find -- but I just can't get anything to recognize the phone, even when I get it into download mode. I know the problem isn't with drivers because when I try my wife's identical G6 on my computer it gets recognized right away.
I should mention that I never tried to tweak anything with the phone -- the issue has been occurring since it was basically brand new. I am by no means an idiot when it comes to tech but also far from an expert, but I have done my research and tried everything I could.
So -- basically I am out of options and appealing to anyone who can help. I currently live in Africa and have no access to LG service centers. I have spent upwards of 10 hours trying to figure this out now and I just don't know what else to try. Any tips or advice would be incredibly appreciated. Thank you!
This looks like a hardware failure. if you have warranty, you should send it back to them. The seller can't take care of the warranty ?
