Secure Folder is awesome! - T-Mobile Note 7 Guides, News, & Discussion

So I haven't heard much about the "Secure Folder" feature. I decided to play around with it a little bit and found some cool features I wasn't aware of.
You can have 1 app install twice with two separate user accounts. IE if you wanted two reddit accounts one that is work safe and one that isn't. Every attachment downloaded while in the secure folder container, will be kept inside the secure folder. It also lets you set notification options for apps inside the folder.

It's awesome. Had a hard time figuring it out. Apps I added in the secure folder kept showing up in the secure and app drawer. So I tried uninstalling the one in the app drawer thinking it would uninstall the app completely but it kept the one in the secure folder. I do wish that it keeps the secure folder locked but you have to lock it after you unlock.

And it also keeps nudes safe in the gallery!

You could probably set it only when reboot. Not exactly what you want, but it night me good enough. The lock button at the top of the folder will lock it

But if your phone craps out, you lose all your files. It already happened to me.

It would be good to auto lock when I close the folder instead of locking it back with the lock button at the top.

I was goofing around and decided to test ultra power saving mode, and the phone wouldn't boot. No way changing it back, I had to factory reset, I guess the same thing would have happened with my note 5, but it would have been nice if the private files were stored on the external SD card.

Good point. It's not stored in the SD card. I've only put apps in it so far so I guess I won't be putting picture or files in there. Thanks

You could set it to relock in 5 min I guess. But yes there should be a lock on close feature.

If only it worked with Root! Smh!

New feature? Horizontal swiping of the tiles in QS

I just accidentally found out you can swipe horizontally on some tiles. Example: swiping horizontally on WiFi tile will toggle WiFi tethering.
Is this new to KitKat or have I been missing out this whole time?!?

It's not swiping that does it. Just long press the button and it will act as a toggle. I can confirm that this is a stock feature. I'm running factory img rooted.

Seems to me like the system is showing the navbar when you pull down the notification shade. Strange.
Oh, I see what you mean. Looks like it is adding the menu button back., I had assumed it was just part of the shade.
See if there is a setting in Settings->Display to disable the menu button.

There is none. See, this phone has capacitive keys, so it shouldn't be showing the navbar at all. I have 5.1 and don't have this issue. I'd say it's a bug.

Correct! I did a factory reset to see if it would go away but it has not. It also creates a strange bug for Nova launcher as the more times I pull down for notifications the Google Search bar goes further down the screen.

I know it has capacitive keys, I am holding one now
However, there was the option in 4.4.4 to hide the menu button in apps that used it and instead use a long press of the Tasks key to access the menu in those apps. I thought checking that off might trick the notification bar into hiding the button
Did you install the captured soak or the OTA?

You can setup locked folders on apex launcher. Then put whatever apps you want secured in it. You can unlock it with fingerprints. It will show the pattern screen but responds to fingerprints too.

Not sure what did you do wrong.. I've tried many other famous locks (except finger security) and found that max lock is best. And Of course it locks apps especially whatsapp.
You can even use knock code which is my favorite cos I use a big knock code and others can't memorize and I use imprint.

Lux and the v20

Hey all,
The auto-brightness on the v20 is subpar, but that's an easy fix with Lux. The thing is, I don't want to see both the brightness slider as well as Lux's brightness widget in the pull down menu.
Does anyone know how to remove the stock brightness slider from the pull down menu without root?
Go to your notification toggles. Hit "edit" and then the 3 dots on top right. Unchecked brightness.
