I need a stock recovery image - Sprint HTC 10 Questions & Answers

My device is really messed up. I guess the update got corrupted. It will not boot. Not at all. It will not boot to download mode or enter recovery. I"m not sure what happened, but it is inoperable. I have tried to run the RUU, but it says the battery is below 30% because it won't charge either. Somebody help me. These things are tanks, and this one is giving me headaches. I need a stock recovery image to flash so that hopefully it will charge afterwards, and I can run the RUU. I have been all over the threads for about 3 hours. I can not find a download link for the stock recovery image;.

You can extract the latest recovery from the firmware thread. Download the full firmware packet and simply pull out the recovery IMG. Flash as you normally would with fastboot.

I tried that. I've done that many times in the past, I'm not able to get a recovery.img to show on anything that I extract. I"ll try another one.

I finally got a recovery.img and tried to flash it. It says it is not allowed in s-on state. I have flashed this phone over a hundred times. It is not supposed to do this. I'm not sure what happened in the update, but it will not boot and I can not flash anything at all. I can't even fastboot oem lock it. I tried to run the RUU but it is not charged to 30%. I am extremely puzzled by this current situation. Any bright ideas?

I've tried flashing them with ADB and using the SD card method. I've tried flashing the recovery.img and boot.img with ADB too. It says I can't flash any of it being S-On. I have flashed all of this, on this device, more than a hundred times. I went back to unrooted stock with the RUU from HTC website. When I took the last update, all it does is power cycle. I can get into download mode, or recovery. I can only get directly into the bootloader menu by holding both volume up and down and the power button. Like I already stated, it won't charge ether, so the RUU won't execute. Any help would be appreciated.

That is what I'm thinking. I'm gonna mess with it one more time today. I've learned that numerous flashing processes that get jacked up and become unresponsive will sometimes work on the 20th attempt. That's why I keep at it until I know it is dead. It was responding to USB but somehow that stopped. I'm pretty certain that I can pull the screen off and charge the battery. I'm 100% certain that it died in the in the update process right on the battery charger script. I'm positive that it is just a dead battery so it can't boot. Im about to pull the battery and solder charger wires on directly and test it with my volt meter until it is fully charged. I'm certain this is the problem.

Can't boot nexus one or use recovery

Hello,
I come here and make a new thread after I spent the day inside various forums to solve my problem but wasn't able to.
Here is the thing I tried to install the cyanogenmod earlier today. I unlocked my N1 properly and think I rooted it properly as well. But I was unable to install the custom rom. Actually my N1 won't even boot, it's stuck on the cross image with the unlocked lock and I can't boot the recovery either. I tried to install a custom recovery, the amon ra thing, but it still freezes on the cross screen.
I assume my N1 isn't completely bricked since I can still power it up, start the fastboot mode and my computer recognize de USB connection (however ADB won't find the phone even after I re-installed the drivers).
So here I come for help to either bring back my N1 to its former stock rom or any functionning rom.
Thanks.
Try the unroot/restore guide with PASSIMG of FRG33. Look at my signature.
oh thank you !!! It worked perfectly !
EDIT : Well spoke too soon I rebooted the N1 after its apparent recover and it froze again, so I started the operation once more and while updating the files ravio_v2 was checked "fail-pu" instead of "ok"
EDIT 2 : Well I rebooted after the update and the N1 never powered up again ... I guess now it is really bricked... though I can't figure why

You can't even get into fastboot any more?
Also, you say you followed the right steps to unlock the device and the right steps to root the device... What steps did you take exactly?
Hi,
to unlock the phone I used the oem command in the fastboot mode. Then I tried to install the amon ra custom recovery and I think that is what brought all this trouble.
Can you still see your device through fastboot? If so you should be able to flash a recovery image and a ROM of your choosing.
It should boot up fastboot like Dirk said. You can not brick the phone by flashing a recovery.
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
I guess there is some HW fault - might be a recent bad sector in one of the system critical areas. It's not something you can cause with SW - unless you're flashing hboot or radio, which should have been covered in the first restore attempt, which worked.
Anyway, if it doesn't power up at all - and doesn't react to charging - try pulling out the battery for several hours, and then put it back and try again. If it doesn't work - then you're up for a warranty repair...

No the phone doesn't boot anything. I'll try to remove the battery and wait a few hours like said above, if it doesn't work I'm still under warranty I think

??Strange Android Issues??

So I have a Mytouch 4G and its stuck in Fastboot... Okay no problem. Flashed RUU Exe still wont turn on. Flashed RUU zip still won turn on. Unlocked Bootloader and flashed recovery and ROM still no go. Everytime I turnit on it goes straight to Fastboot. Only way to turn on is in fastboot wait 30 seconds and navigate to Hboot. In Hboot go to CWM in CWM reboot system now and everything works. I just have to do those 3 steps to turn it on. Has anyone else had this problem? And is there a fix?

it sounds like it is a recovery issue or a sticking volume button on the side..(just a guess) try pushing it up and down (wiggling it) if still an issue.Try flashing a different recovery such as 4EXT instead of CWM and see if that make a difference you can find it here http://www.4ext.net/ it is just something to try in case your recovery image is corrupted be careful ! let me know if it fixes your problem

It was actually stock and never rooted when I had this issue. The recovery was stock and still had the issue. It was when I installed CWM and a ROM that I was able to get it on, but I have to do those 3 steps.
Clean your USB port, check if any of the keys (trackpad?) is stuck. If you boot to fastboot and not to HBOOT - it means the VolDown key isn't the culprit, but maybe there is a key combination that is causing boot directly to fastboot, or maybe there' something in USB (dirt caused some high impedance connection between some lines) that causes your phone to boot to fastboot.

I thought that the Vol Down button might have been stuck as well but its not. All the buttons are fine and the usb port is clean.

Flashed a D802 on my VS980 Verizon G2

Alright like a idiot I downloaded a international rom and didn't pay attention...flashed in TWRP and went to reboot so it obviously doesn't work. Tried to use the Flashtool to revert back to the stock Verizon software and it throws the error of the Device Model is different. IMEI is right, BIN, DLL, SWV, SWOV all show the VS980 since I'm trying to flash that.
So have I killed it completely or is there a way to recover? Sure hope there is
I can get into the download mode still
Also appears that it boots into fastboot and can send fastboot commands via the command prompt
Wow this dropped quick...just putting this to the top so I can hopefully get it up and running quicker.
Please check the same thread about LG repair cost. It looks like you need to repair it. you have mismatch in model name in build.prop, so there is no solution as for now. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2506208
Ya I saw that after this morning...was hoping it wouldn't come to that. Mine says rooted on the download screen so hopefully that doesn't cause a issue when I send it in.
have you tried pushing a .img using fastboot, as you seem to be able to get to it?

Hey man are you able to access recovery at all by holding down Vol down+Power, releasing it when the LG splash screen appears for a sec, and then immediately pressing it again? I saw someone a day or two ago was able to put a ROM on a flash drive and install it from there in TWRP.
Mine actually seems to be booting into fastboot when I hold down the power button and it reboots. I can't get it to turn off completely, I can get into download mode if I hold down volume up and power if it's plugged into the computer. If I hold down the power button it will reboot and seems to be in some sort of fastboot when it tries to power on

Makes sense and should be easy enough except that thread makes it out that the boot.img really wouldn't change the device model. Unless it contains it in the img file
Which .img file would I be pushing? The boot.img?
I guess it would be more like which one? Would I be able to just used the one from say CleanRom?
Wohoo! Finally got it up and going...thought for sure it was toast.
I flashed the boot.img through fastboot and then was getting "secure boot unsuccessful" on the screen when it tried to boot. Kept trying to get it into the recovery and it finally did so when it went to the splash screen about pressing the power it put me into TWRP.
I tried to restore the backup that I had stored and it started to but then turned off, I'm not sure if it was because the battery was so low or if it was just the jacked up file structure but it wouldn't get any father than the LG splash screen. The LED would flash green then blue and it would just sit there.
That was when I thought for sure it was toast, let it sit and charge for awhile and still couldn't get back into the recovery but was able to get into download mode. Flashed the stock software via LG Tools and it finally booted.
Not sure if anyone else will run into this issue but now it's documented lol
help a bro

What's the command input for the push
All I know is its the along the line of push/c:/(boot.img location)
It's more like "fastboot flash boot boot.img" you can't push it via adb, unless you're already in TWRP.

I have twrp installed but I can't boot to it I get stuck on the [800] fastboot mode started screen can I do it from download mode

Phone won't turn on

Tried to root my phone and accidentally wiped phone without ROM in phone.
Phone then would only boot into fastboot, but not recovery,
After trying multiple times to boot and sort of recovery whether its stock or twrp, nothing worked. Kept giving me failed when unlocking bootloader.
Then phone went dead. Would not boot to fastboot, recovery, or even charge.
It's completely dead and unsure what to do.
Only thing that comes to mind is to contact LeEco for a replacement since it's still under warranty. Assuming they won't be able to tell it was played with.
Anyone have any other suggestions??

Leave it connected to charger for 24 hrs. U can turn the phone off by pressing both vol and power button for 15sec.
If it is x720, its already bootloader unlocked. If it js x727 u need to flash chinese rom on it first through official recovery. If u can still put phone into fastboot woth valid display, u can flash grossoshop fastboot rom yo go back to stock.

Couldnt fix it. Flashing the rom back to stock via the qdloader mode doesnt work and it always fails when its writing system partition. I guess the cheap price of this device is set from the 3rd-class electronics manufacturing process.
I have given up until i get a windows xp/windows 7 system with usb 2.0 ports then i will try reflashing it one last time or give it to my daughter as a shiny new toy with no life.

How do I unroot & go back to stock rom /recovery?

I am on USA Mediapad 3 BTW-W09. I'm rooted, bootloader unlocked. I'd like to go to stock rom without root, bootloader locked. I want to sell this tablet like stock.
Thanks!
That's rather simple reflash the stock Rom that came with your phone... (Hint SRKTools) would be handy here..
I was able to relock the bootloader with that tool - thanks!
BUT now I have another problem. It reset and Huawei eRecovery popped up and said there was partition damage and asked to repair it. I said yes. Then it reboot but came to eRecovery screen again and asked to Download latest version and recovery. I did and it failed. Then the cycle starts over again. Won't boot.
What do you suggest now?

Quick question did you remove the "root", trwp before re-locking your BL.. this is why I suggested flashing your stock rom.. now go check out the bottom of this thread as it may be able you help you out..https://forum.xda-developers.com/mediapad-m3/help/bricked-mediapad-m3-t3746893
Ah yes I just saw this before you responded. I got the tool downloaded, got it to extract an update.zip that I found BUT there are two files missing. The CUST.img & USERDATA.img. Any ideas?
I see I need update_data_full_hw.zip. Do you know where to find for USA? I found one for EU - does it matter?
I ****ed it now! I found the appropriate zips and uploaded through Huawei Media Tools. Then I have no bluetooth, keyboard or stock apps. Then I "downgraded" to MM I thought. Got some error message in Huawei Media Tools saying I flashed wrong rom. Now it is stuck on boot screen. Now what??
You need to stop while your ahead.. first off probably should have tried to stop you when you failed to mention what model you have as you haven't stated as much. and you just seem to be flash happy. All I will suggest now is either you can can try to recover it through Huawei HiSuite or take it to your local shop an let them re-flash it..
damn you said it. I was FLASH HAPPY. No way to get into Hi Suite as it won't get out of boot logo. If I could get into the bootloader mode, I could reflash the correct files but can't do that. Oh well, lesson learned!

Ok..first get the correct Rom for your phone..don't do anything else till you do that.. the put you phone on the charger we don't want it to die and it needs to be charged.. now see if you can manually but your phone in fastboot mode either manually or by ADB commands .. and read up how to flash the rom that way..
WOW the gods have smiled down upon me and my and my tablet this morning! It was surely dead but I held power down and then plugged in cable then voila, fastboot mode!
Bootloader was locked so I unlocked it so I could flash correct files. I unlocked then it automatically reboot normal which was not good. The back to same frozen boot screen. I kept trying and couldn't get back into fastboot or any other useful mode. Then I went away and came back and tried again - hold down volume & plug cable - BOOM it work again.
I flashed the stock files and good news is back to square one with a mostly working tablet. Just same issue of no bluetooth, keyboard (I downloaded from web), stock apps missing & no "updater" section in settings.
Any fix for this? Any link to OFFICIAL stock rom for USA version?
Thanks for you help man!
