Firmware updates only [OOS 3.1.2 -> 3.5.3] - OnePlus 3 ROMs, Kernels, Recoveries, & Other Devel

Since OnePlus decided to change some firmware interfaces introducing incompatibilities, I thought it would be very useful to have zips that update only the firmware to a particular version.
This zips do _not_ contain the boot.img or the system partition, only bootloader and other firmware.
The release firmwares 3.1.2 -> 3.2.4 work with all ROMs as of (20.09.2016), the same for the community build firmwares 3.5.0 and 3.5.1
The release firmware 3.2.6 changes something in the fingerprint scanner and current ROMs end up without this feature working.
The community build firmware 3.5.2 changes something in the boot loader breaking compatibility with all older ROMs as of (20.09.2016) including their own once, it also breaks compatibility with TWRP, however there is a moded version that works: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=68691560&postcount=56
When you have firmware 3.5.1 you can still boot into a 3.5.2 community build but the fingerprint reader wont be working.
Also the fingerprint reader issue is not kernel related, you can boot 3.5.2 system partition using 3.5.1 kernel but the fingerprint reader does not work, hence the incompatibility is on one of the vendor blobs in the system partition.
Next to be tested: if I have 3.2.6 firmware if that gives me the ability to run 3.5.2 firmware with the normal twrp

3.5.3: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=385035244224381033 (new bootloader and fingerprint firmware)
with this firmwares as long as you keep away from the one that breaks twrp you can switch/flash between cusotm firmwares and the last official OOS release without issues, just remember to flash the right firmware to keep your fp scanner working

Given that to my knowledge all custom ROMs as of (20.09.2016) that have a custom kernel like (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/development/rom-t3457741) are based on the last source release from oneplus.
You should go for 3.2.4 firmware or earlier.

There never were images released for 3.2.5 its a factory only version, so unless someone with a unadapted oneplus3 from exact the right manufacturing batch dumps the partitions we wont have that version available.
3.5.2 <- this community build firmware changes bootloader and BREAKS compatibility with all ROMS, except the Comunitybuild 3.5.2 itself. It even breaks compatibility with most TWRP images. Do not install that one!

it seems its the actual baseband file NON-HLOS.bin in 3.2.6 that breaks fingerprint. im currently running the 3.2.6 firmware with the baseband replaced with the one from 3.2.4 with resurrection remix

thanks mate, i was about to create a thread to ask someone who knew how to make these firmware zips to make them for everyone. thanks mate really useful to be able to switch roms, although i think we only need the two, 3.2.4 and 3.2.6, since anyone using 3.5.2 like me dont need to flash anything

How can see what firmware have installed?

Actually I don't think that is possible out of the box.
Someone could make an app that knows al SHA1 hashes of all firmware partitions and than compare the found partition hashes and list it.
As we know possibly ROMs may be deployed with mixed firmware files.

thanks good to know that
I wonder why modem and FP scanner share the same firmware, I would have bet on keymaster.mbn or tz.mbn (TrustZone)
My myself I'm running the community build 3.5.2 with 3.26 firmware (http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/rom-oxygenos-3-5-2-modded-instalation-t3465408) till now all seams fine FP scanner and TWRP

Is the firmware from 3.2.6 newer than 3.5.2 or the same?

I had a funny question.. I might try this as well..

Pfff... thay are different, 3.5.2 breaks bootloader compatibility, 3.2.6 does not, booth however break fingerprint scanner compatibility with custom ROMs and old OOS releases.

rr ? You mean ResurectionRemix?
I'm pretty sure with 3.2.6 your FP scanner wont work with that rom. it will only work with OOS 3.2.6 or 3.2.6 Community build 3.5.2
Just go for 3.2.4 if you are going to use anything else then OOS 3.2.6 or 3.5.2

I was more meaning the version numbers. I know things are broken for custom ROMs.

Even using dual boot with RR as secondary and 3.2.6 primary breaks the fingerprints on RR

[Firmware/Modem] OnePlus One Lollipop/Marshmallow Firmware Collection

First off, I would like to thank everyone from [REF] [RADIO] OnePlus One Modem Collection. I created this new post because it seems that zephiK from the previous thread has since moved on to different devices.
How to Flash:
I use this exact version of TWRP: Unofficial TWRP 2.8.7.0 by kumajaya. Other people have reported problems flashing with various other versions of TWRP but I KNOW that this version works just fine. Please don't post about problems using other versions.
Once you have this version installed you can just flash the firmware zip like you would any other zip.
Another option to install these is to use fastboot, You just unpack the zip to your fastboot folder and run these commands:
Code:
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash dbi sdi.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin
fastboot flash oppostanvbk static_nvbk.bin

What's the difference between: 2015_12-30_.4.0.1.c7-00011.zip and 2016_1-25_.4.0.1.c7-00011.zip? Are these basically just the same firmware and modem?

I'll post an updated hash compare picture after work but essentially some of the files changed within including the modem itself. Basically the modem number does not mean anything anymore because the CM team is updating the modem but not updating the number.

I too am on Sultan's unofficial MM ROM and I use the h2os_update_2015_12-30_.4.0.1.c1.11-00004.zip (DI.4.0.1.c1.11-00004-M8974AAAAANAZM-1) without any problem. That's the one built in with his Jan 1, 2016 update. I have read that the official CM 13 nightly has reverted to an older firmware, but I don't know which one.
I'm using the franken build with SultanXDA's 011716 rom. The baseband shows 241 but seems to be more stable than previous old 241 basebands.
An oddity with BT headphones with the 4 marshmallow roms I've used is that the volume button controls the media volume. No other controls work. Was there a change to the way AVRCP or A2DP works in marshmallow? Normally, the volume keys on the phone control the volume, then the BT headset has it's own volume control. And the fwd/rwd/play/pause actually works. Also, some roms have insanely loud BT volume with specific headsets but not others. So, it looks like BT is being used as an experiment or something.
Wow thanks! I have some questions:
1. How can I backup my current modem without doing full NAND backup?
2. Where did you get these modems? Was it extracted from CM nightlies build?

Official Oxygen OS Marshmallow for our Onyx

Look's like OnePlus finally released the Official MM releases of Oxygen OS. Following the last Community Build, its OOS version 3.1.2.
It seems like a quiet release of a rather big marketing point for OnePlus, seeing that there is no flashy blog or forum post deviating from OnePlus' usual tactic. But all that aside, all that matters (to most of us) is that its here, finally.
Well, go get it then.

I guess it's because OnePlus doesn't want any more attention for their bastard child. This update was released just to silent the annoying OPX owners. LoL

So, finally we got Marshmallow.
Excuse my ignorance, but i am a bit confused how to upgrade from CM. Without bothering anyone, can you eplain how to update safely?
From what i've read the are the steps:
flash stock recovery via TWRP
flash OOS 2.1.X first
flash OOS 3.12 now
flash TWRP v41 by eng.stk via fastboot for future upgrades or kernel istallations (this step is optional)
Is that right?
Oh finally they solved the bug of the airplane mode and the ****ed animation in the setting. Good experience overall if you enable the gpu rendering ( a little slower compared to lollipop both without gpu rendering )
Edit: even the manual selection of the operator is fixed! But i hatd how long the setting menu is now

Inviato dal mio ONEPLUS A3003 utilizzando Tapatalk
You should be able to, just be aware anyone flashing that you won't be able to flash your rom again without flashing the 4.0.2 firmware,
4.0.3 has different TZ version:
4.0.2 : TZ.BF.4.0.1-76917
4.0.3 : TZ.BF.4.0.1-83199
If you try flashing your rom back in you'll get a TZ error similar to the following:
{

"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",

I'm guessing it won't take roms long to update to the new firmware, as long as OP release the source quickly.
Did the same with LineageOS 2017-02-08 and it's working fine. But while flashing the ROM I get the same TZ error.
I think it's safe to change the TZ version in updater-script before updating to the newest LOS (until the ROM developers will update it) isn't it ?

I tried. And trust zone check failed cause the new firmware one updated and RR ROM biulds on the old one.
Maybe because I'm using the unofficial RR.

Probably, I'm on the official build of RR, you should advise the dev on the unofficial build to update their sources, it should be built on LOS which has been updated to latest firmware now.
Thanks! ☺

And will latest 7.1.1 firmware work with other kernel like boeffla or is that independent from firmware? Anyone tried that? thx
Exist firmware and modem from Last 4.1.0?

I suggest not to upgrade firmware, until the custom ROM dev support it.
Yes, I'm also looking for this, but no pressure to you dev

Any luck with fixing wifi yet - as you mentioned in another thread a few days back that some have issued with wifi?
Thanks.!
Nice! Is the modem image upgraded? (New WiFi firmware for example)
I don't know in detail how much stuff Lineage use from the stock firmware (modem, binary blobbs or whatever they are called). So the question is would it benefit to flash?

I totally understand - I was "trying" to say that I could not get either NPLS25.86-30-12 (with Sideload) nor NPLS25.86-30-12 (with fastboot) to work.

I was thinking of the WiFi needing reboot or airplaine mode toggle issue. If its more than just a driver issue.
Users coming from stock 7.1.1 would need to work without any issues too. Hopefully they will not have any major issues.

Tried flashing this Rom with TWRP 3.1.1 (official). I skipped wifi-setup and used data Connection. Here it got stuck in "searching for system update" for more than 10 minutes. So i wiped everything and started new by flashing stock rom with Januar Patch (via rsd-lite), took the three ota-updates...now i'm back on stock april patch NPLS25.86-31-5. (weird, because before it was NLS25.86-30-12) Too much for my old brain. I'll be patiently waiting for the official 7.1 ota. Until then, keep up the good work and thanks for your kind contribution!
Hi Erfan, to root is recommended Magisk, but can it be rooted with SuperSU? What could be the difference

[SHARE] ZUI 3.5 Oreo Firmware_Baseband - TWRP Flashable

Friends !
I am sharing the ZUI 3.5.337 Firmware_Baseband zip file which can be flashed through TWRP.
The zip file updates our device' firmware to ZUI Oreo Firmware and Baseband is updated to 1.70 (Chinese ZUI Oreo Baseband).
Credit to @kubersharma who created this zip file I am sharing his file here with his approval.
Important Points
1. It should be flashed only over Chinese 1.70 and Indian 1.76 Basebands. Do not try flashing over older basebands.
2. Bootloader won't be re-locked.
3. Data/Internal Storage partitions will not be touched in devices which are not Encrypted.
4. The zip can be flashed on Encrypted devices also. But the device has to be reset when booting into system. People who are flashing it on Encrypted devices, do take back up of all files.
I flashed it over Indian Baseband 1.76 and got updated successfully I was encrypted and I had to format my device in TWRP after flashing the zip.
Both Mobile Data and Wi-Fi Signals are stable.

Thanks for posting xD
Anyways I had removed emmc_appsboot from it and it won't lock bootloader thus it'll not soft brick ya phone.
My Observation over 3.5.243' baseband:
JIO signals don't fluctuate
Note:
People on 1.6x or older basebands can try this, but as this doesn't flash emmc_appsboot thus latest firmware partitions with older emmc_appsboot partition from 1.6x baseband or below, "might" ( as I have not tried it ) face a softbrick.
Could you please tell the Baseband version number.

Works 100%!!!
I flash over 1.70 and get better.
Thanks to kubersharma for the good work
Thanks @AndroidEnthusiast & @kubersharma
This was required, because signal fluctuates a lot on Indian nougat baseband
Can be dirty flashed on existing custom Oreo ROM?
Thanks does this work with VOLTE in india since I faced issues with 1.70 baseband while 1.76 works fine.?
This is not a new baseband. This is the baseband from ZUI 2.5.
Screenshot after flashing.

February's LineageOS 15.1 and April's LineageOS 15.1, the version that is 15.1 is same, but does that mean it is the SAME?
NO, There is a huge difference similarly, Zuk has stopped Changing their baseband versions even though they have updated it on ZUI 3.5 Oreo and now in the latest ZUI OTA of 3.5.337 they had included updated firmware.
Anyways, this Firmware was provided in the latest ZUI OTA UPDATE

Hey man. Thanks for the zip. I'm in AEX Oreo and running 1.70 Chinese. I had a pretty bad f*ck up with updating to 1.70 (bootloader locked and all). Now, can i dirty flash this file without facing any such issues at all?

The purpose of this thread itself is to let users know and update firmware and baseband to latest ZUI Oreo's in a simple TWRP way !
Thanks a lot man @kubersharma
I just updated and no consequences like you said.
I can still see fluctuations in jio signal but it's lesser than before. I would say this is like 20% improvement over my previous baseband. I appreciate even 5% improvements so this is good for me. Thanks again.
Update:-
My gps broke recently (even before i flashed this) and flashing this has not changed that. Do you have any fix for that in mind? Any help is very much appreciated.

I don't mind simplicity. Last time I updated my baseband through twrp, my bootloader locked and part of my data gone. I had to make sure I didn't get there again.

This Zip was tested by users in Telegram group. I tested it too and I shared it only after it was successful for me
Good that it worked for you too bro !
Im still facing H+ signal fluctuations in this firmware baseband, flashed the davide baseband over this firmware still fixed the issue. Other than that I guess it's fine

I don't use Jio and so I can't comment on it.
But as per @kubersharma , the zip doesn't break Volte. But its always better to take backup of EFS partition.
