Ghost Touch while charging - Moto G4 Questions & Answers

Moto G4 XT1622 16gb using normal charger, no turbo charger.
The ghost touch starts when using the phone while charging and even continues after the charger is disconnected, to stop it I have to turn the screen off and on again.
There is a oficial solution for this?
Is this 100% a hardware issue or it can be solved with a Moto update in the near future?
Cheers.

Same here xt1622 ghost touches more like the screen goes nuts weird unfortunately it happens on cm13 too

I also have this issue. Seems like the screen is being tapped in the bottom right of the screen (recent apps button)
xt1625 model

xt1625 here, and i get the same thing. no issues with ghost touching at all when its not charging. ghost touches fairly regularly when charging. luckily, its not an issue for me to leave it alone while charging. but yeah, it would be nice if they were able to fix that issue.

XT1622 here, Mine has been displaying the same ghost touch problem. It just bought me a camera while I was browsing the Ebay app, Buy It Now. Seller wasn't too amused but cancelled the order. Did tell him it was my phone and sent him a link to the Lenovo forum. Apparently it's a software problem and not a hardware one, Hard to believe! Thing is they won't tell anyone what the fix is, just telling people to take it to there nearest service centre.

Same hear screen goes nuts till remove charger if try use while plugged in only had phone few days was going to return as thought faulty but clearly it's software related hope it's fixed in N

hi, i am interested buying a european version of moto g4 , is the ghost touching problem still exists? Is it hardware or software? I am very afraid of buying the device if i am going to face this serious problem!

Software I'd say still present in 7.0 atm

This is not good. I remember that i read somewhere (don't remember forum) that Nexus 5x had something similar. Particularly when connecting to pc via USB.

Yes I remember having it on my Nx5 as well , for me not big issue if on charge I'm not using it doesn't seem so persistent on 7.0 as well couple times I've picked up and used while charging hasn't done it

I'm experiencing ghost touch on an almost daily basis now, mostly on battery power. I've never experienced it while charging. XT1625 model. I even contacted support and they kept telling me about software fixes (reset, change settings etc.) all of which to no avail. I'm convinved it's a hardware problem at this point and it's continually getting worse.
Of course when I spoke to them via live chat, they danced around the issue and finally gave me a number for the Spanish support line, (i don't even speak spanish) and left it at that. Gotta love support.

Something I've tried that is helpful for me is lowering the brightness.
Next time you have ghost touch problems try lowering the brightness and see what happens.
On my phone it makes the ghost touch go away completely but I can't speak for anyone else.
Not a permanent solution for sure but until one is found it beats having to reboot your phone.

Hi guys. I simply solved this problem using an app called "Touchscreen Repair", from the Play Store.
I tought it was useless, but incredibly it works!!!! I had ghost touch problems while charging with a quickcharger 3.0, I could not write a message! But now it seems to work well!
Hoping to help someone! Let me know if it's works for you!

Nexus 4 touchscreen issue!

Hey guys, i bought my nexus 4 a week ago and it is great but i'm having random issues with touchscreen. Suddenly the screen stop responding or it is just hard to press. Besides trying to unlock it at PIN, when i press on a number, another number gets pressed. This freaking me out and very annoying. This often happened on Android 4.3 but i didn't have much time to know if it is the same issue on 4.2.2 cuz i bought and update directly via Google stock image. I flashed it twice but no hope. Hope this is a software issue or an app causing it. Any ideas?

I've the same issue, but only when the phone is charging.
I've tried several chargers ( USB cable and A/C adapter ), but the issue still remain.
I will bring my N4 to lg support.

Same thing here; while I'm charging the phone, sometimes, touchscreen responsiveness is not good. Unplug the phone and I'm good to go.
Same! My got shipped from Ireland. I bought it 2 weeks ago.
if that happens while charging..its normal because the screen register your fingers heat as a touch. so while charging the phone is hotter than it usually is which makes the touch screen not as sensitive...if its not charging and still the sensitivity is low...the only explanation that comes to my mind is..your phone (screen) is hotter than usual maybe?? if not then its a problem with your device because my sensitivity increased after 4.3 update...
Hi guys. I had this problem with stock image too.
Since, I installed CyanogenMod and I never had any problem at all. I know it doesn't really solve the problem but if you are ok with unlocking your Nexus 4, this is a very great thing to do.

LOVE LOVE LOVE CM10. Had it on my old SGN. Will be looking to reinstall it on my N4 but want to see what Kit Kat looks like first.

Can Kit Kat solve it all for Nexus 7 2013

Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone may know if the new 4.4 Kit Kat will fix all of the Nexus 7 2013 touch screen problems.
Maybe Asus and Google knows it fixes the issue. That's why they didn't rush to help us in the last few months.
Cross your fingers people and hope this fixes all of our issues. That would be sweet.
Oct 28 4.4 I'm thinking.
I hope that... it's been a headache, and that's the only flaw mine has, the fix here fixes it just temporally.
Can't say whether it will or won't but I can say I really doubt they have the fix already in hand and are holding it back waiting for kit kat.
They've never been shy about putting out releases to fix things and a touchscreen fix is very contained and isolated, not something that touches many areas requiring long code reviews.
Can I just ask what kinde of problems you are reffering to? Multitouch problem has been fixed with the latest update. At least mine was. With a multitouch program I placed all 10 fingers on screen and was moving it arround, and it registrated all fingers and arrows were moving very very smoothly. 60fps+. Also, there is no problem with GPS anymore. The only problem which is actually not a problem, is smal buzz from speakers when watching of listening to something at very low volume, but that is reported for all nexus 7 devices because that is how the speakers are made.
You are saying like nexus 7 2013 is forgotten and this 4.4 is our last hope for the device otherwise its useless to use. Which is far from truth. I have absolutely no problems with it.
I don't know, maybe I use the device too much? But I can definitely say ghost touchs and some multi-touch issues are there and persistent. In fact right now as I was writting this the keyboard went crazy, it's really annoying and I don't even want to start with the horrible experience I'm getting with PS Touch(which I use a lot) thanks to this problem. Sometimes I have to reboot the device when it goes crazy zooming while navigating the internet.
For you guys that your tablet is "perfect", fascinating, good for you, but that doesn't mean the problem doesn't exists anymore, you just got lucky.
I personally have no more touchscreen issues since JSS15Q, but if there is another touchscreen fix in KitKat that would be good to the few unlucky ones still having issue with theirs..

The few that had touchscreen problems initially were fixed. 75% of working units were broken in the process. Its a big issue. We have a fix but nothing from Google. There are several screen variances which make it impossible for a single 1 fix all solution.
Google will have to detect each variance and patch accordingly. Probably why it hasn't been released yet because it probably will take a larger testing period then previously mentioned. Even using the XDA fix, some versions can cause several FCs and bugs. Similar to the specific pattern freakout.
With 4.4 on the horizon, it would be best to include it in that. Google probably isn't going to create an OTA and then another one in a few weeks.
Just cross your fingers and hope for an official fix.
GPS was fixed though. I'm not sure about the kernel reboots though. I haven't used the stock kernel nor had reboots since I flashed CM Kanged.

Any source for that 75% number? Without a proper source it is hard to not consider that as a case of the loud minority.
If it were that serve of a problem we would hear the tech press clamoring about it by now. But nothing was said about N7 touchscreen by the tech press since JSS15Q.
I can't tell you what the real percentages are, but the touchscreen issue is definitely a much bigger problem than your standard problems.
Standard run-of-the-mill issues get a thread with maybe 20 posts. Touchscreen is producing 1000 post threads. So relative to normal problems it is a big problem, but whether that is a 5% vs 1% problem or a 75% vs 1% problem I could not tell you.
There are at least 3 huge threads on Google support forums about this problem:
Multi-touch - reports of improvement, no improvement, and some worse
Multi-touch (continued) - more reports of fixed / not fixed for JSS15R
Multi-touch (continued 2) - more reports of touchscreen issues
BTW I created the xda fix for touchscreen so I'm very familiar with the fixes Google put out and whether they have fixed the issue. JSS15R fixed it for some screens but made it much worse for others.
That's the main reason I haven't sent my Nexus for repair, is not hardware related, or at least that's what I think, please someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, actually it is hardware related, but you can't tell if your hardware is one type or another without using Sfhub's process.
Well, thanks for confirming
I personally don't think that all of the touchscreen issues will be fixed with Kit Kat. I feel that Google will he focusing more on a fully operational OS, and that we'll need a dedicated fix to solve our problems.
But I surely hope that I'm wrong.

It just sucks that I don't have my tablet. I went back to Radio Shack and ordered the 32gb through them, since none of their stores had that version on their shelves, and 16gb was not working out for me. At least I'll get to download it as soon as I get my new device!

This process doesn’t wipe the tablet, so your settings, apps and everything else should stay in tact whenever you get back to the system. Remember that you will have lost root at this point, but it’s easy enough to get that back.. Cool resource!
But before kitkat my GPS worked very well

Nexus 6 Issues thread

I thought it might be a good idea to come together and list issues we may have found.
I have to say that I love this phone.
Issues list:
1) Apps/widgets that need to access the secured/encrypted storage either crash or report that there is no sd-card, or the sd-card is unreadable.
2) The screen turn on sensor seems a little too sensitive. For instance riding in the car with the phone sitting on my leg, the screen would come on any time the road was bumpy or coming to a stop quickly.
As this will be a running list, please chip in. I am hoping we can track these as well as if fixes are released, or we decide to take them on and fix them ourselves.
I do not want any of the junk like have been in other threads about weight and size, etc. Please keep these to real issues with the phone or the software.
Well.... the app/widget issue is probably more of an issue with the app/widget itself requiring an update for better Lollipop compatibility.
As for the ambient display.... pretty sure they wanted it to be something that's convenient and easy to use. Not something that would require you to violently shake your phone to get it to turn on. I can pick it up off my desk without it turning on, then put it into my other hand, only letting it fall into my hand ever so slightly, and the ambient display turns on. Of course it's going to turn on if you're going down a bumpy road with it on your leg.

Are you charging the phone at the same time? If so unplug the phone from the charger and see if that solves the noise.
One thing I've noticed is that when wireless charging, when it hits 100%, it completely stops charging. You'd think this would be a good thing, but with my N5, it would drop to trickle-charge mode, but would at least keep the charging indicator active. Since the N6 stops charging completely, daydreams will stop functioning, and you'll go back to the home screen. Depending on the charge cycle, the phone may come awake or stay awake most of the night. in addition to making it worthless as a bedside clock, this also makes me concerned of burn-in. This is, after all, an AMOLED screen, which is prone to burn-in issues.
I will say that every now and again, my phone will make a static noise from the top speaker even though there's nothing audio playing. It did it significantly more before I installed the update and barely does it now.

It did it the most during setup when it was restoring my phone, then for a while before I installed the update, and barely now. I've only been using the phone about 12 hours now and I'm pulling it off it's first charge now. It may be a total non-issue but it's something I'm keeping my eyes and ears on.

This actually sounds like a hardware defect I would send back ASAP. Thank you all for posting your issues for those of us who are on the fence this helps what we maybe walking into when purchasing this device.
I have seen the restart issue once or twice and it seems like my GPS doesn't get a complete lock on me while using maps, it did at first and after 10 min or so it would no longer zoom in on you in google maps when it locked on your signal. Not sure if this is a google maps issue or a GPS issue though.

Well, I got mine from T-Mobile so I don't think it's just as easy as getting another one. I freaking love the phone though. My biggest and only real gripe is the button placement. I hit the volume rocker almost every time I try to do anything on it. Lol.

[Poll] Does Your G4 Miss or Unresponsive to Touch?

Hi Guys,
I noticed that there are more than one threads about this problem so I want to try collecting some information about it and see how many users affected by it. The purpose of this thread and poll is to take the outcome and contact LG and some Tech news websites, making LG respond to this issue ASAP.
If you not sure about having this issue, you can check it as follows (it worked for me) -
1. Open the Dialer and enter 277634#*# to enter the Service Menu.
2. Go to Device Test -> Service Menu - Manual Test -> Touch Draw Test - Manual.
3. Now touch/tap/knock/slide on the test area (all of it) until its almost full and watch for missing registration (you will touch the screen and there will be no red mark). I repeated the test several times and almost every time I had misses.
You can add the device model (H815/H815x/H812/H811/H810/LS991/VS986/US991) and more information in the comments .
I have the international H815 and this issue killing my Knock Code experience (Had the G3 without any issue).

I really hope so. Maybe if they will see it's a major issue they will come out with a fix asap. For now they're (LG) saying they don't know about it and there aren't complaints from users.
LG will claim they don't know about it until we raise a storm on social media, support cases, etc. So we need to organize an effort to make things happen.
Mine's not severe, on the edges, more than anything. Most noticeable when typing "p". I know it's there so I watch for it. Other pretty solid device for me (other than no Gmail notifications, but I'm not posting about that).
Mine has the problem. About to return it.
I just opened up a case with LG.
You should contact them via their live chat and reference the following case number. The more people report this, the faster we'll hear a response back. I really don't want to return this phone.

I have had two G4s so far, both brand new from Tmobile. Both have this issue. I purchased one when it was released and the other one 6/8.
Is it possible that the people who are saying that this is not an issue are not seeing or noticing it, but it is still there?
Because if there is an issue with the display, and not all of the units are having it, then this is a Hardware defect, and cannot fully be fixed with software.

That's my thoughts exactly. I really like this smartphone, but this issue is a deal breaker for me. I really hope that it's just software fix. I'm not planning to return it for now for replacement as I'm pretty sure that every device is affected (if it's hardware issue, from past experience we need to wait a few weeks or months for fixed batches). I'll give it some time and see what LG doing about it...
I have used a tempered glass on my G4 from minute 1, and i notice a very, very, very slight version of this issue, where taps sometimes dont register. it is very slight however, which makes me wonder maybe LG has set the touchscreen sensitivity a tad bit too low, and it could be fixed with an update. Its definitely not a hardware issue, as so many people are affected, and these screens get tested before production with like 5000 taps per minute by testing machines (seen from youtube videos).

Do an internet search and you'll find plenty of answers, touches where you didn't touch, erratic scrolling, etc. I've owned a lot of phones but have never actually seen it.

This isn't a widespread problem with all G3's. I have 3 G3's and know quite a few people with them. They're all XT1540's but no one has seen that problem.

My XT1540 has been fine as well. The only time I experienced any different touchscreen behavior was using CM13, and it wasn't exactly ghost touch, seemed more like sensitivity issues. Back on stock 6.0 and all is well.

I bought a Gen 3 for my wife and she is having the issue. I ran through several apps on it and did some of the same things she was doing. I didn't have any problems at all. So maybe it is a matter of how a person scrolls or touches when navigating. However, I now have a very unhappy wife who is ready to throw the phone across the room half the time because it keeps opening stuff when she scrolls. And convincing her that it is her and not the phone is not an option. Any suggestions? Does the Touch and Hold Delay help? She is on stock 6.0 and her phone is an XT-1540.

Anyone facing a lag in opening of the dialer and call history? I have a 2gb version of G3 and facing some serious lag in the time taken to open the favourites list and dialer.

Is the 6.0.1 OTA update available for XT1540s (2gb) already?
Well me too facing the ghost touch issue. Thinking of reverting to 5.1.1
