Shouid i get a oneplus 2 or a galaxy note 4? - OnePlus 2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Which one is more future proof until 2017? i'm kinda having trouble picking between these phones. i love stock android but i hate touch-wiz, also i keep hearing stories on how bad the oneplus 2 is. is it really that bad? which phone do you guys recommend?

Go for oneplus2! I love mine. The software is almost like on nexus devices. Pure Android with no bloat.

Is their any advantages over the note 4 the oneplus 2 has?

You'll hate the fingerprint on note 4 . Trust me . Note screen is better , but we can adjust our screen with kcal. Etc etc. Main thin is fingerprint sensor. Which in note 4 you have to turn the sceen on and swipe , and it's just only placing on sensor any time ( screen off ) to unlock in oneplus 2.

CM13 & CM14 both support fingerprint & both fast & accurate ( as same as the stock ). Camera is really good , No complains there. & I don't think oneplus 2 has NFC ... ( Does it ? )

Go for anything but op2.
You will regret it if you are a heavy user.
It will heat up and burn your battery too fast.
Better go for device which does not have 810sd.

Yeah.
It used to get more than just being warm when i used to play PoGo.
If you play heavy 3d games well then it will even heat up more.
It is mostly due to bad software + the failure 810sd.
Using custom roms helps sometimes but still it gets more than warm.
And lol battery backup is too bad, especially the idle time.

oh...i see. i only play Ingress. using custom kernel could fix or lessen the heating and increase battery life?

Go 4 #Note4 #Oneplus2 sucks on the software front, no VOLTE, pathetic service, heats up like hell. Ordinary screen.

Having just moved from the Note 4 to the OP2... I wouldn't go back. OP2 isn't the perfect phone but if you want a stock feel, it's great. Camera is great. Battery has been good for me on OOS 3.1.0. Really no complaints. Miss turbo charging but that's it. Phone feels great in hand too.

Not by much.
I have put up a rubber cover just because when the device do heats up the metal portion stings at your hand.
And seriously if you wanna buy OP product then better buy OP3, op2 sucks big time. Just think logically that the op company itself do not properly support op2 but will give proper dev support to opo and op3 that itself means they themselves lost all hope on op2.

200-280 is my budget.

I have both. I have to say Note 4 is kinda premium and SAMOLED screen is too good, specially in direct sunlight. Oneplus2 is snappier than Note 4. You'll love the fast charging in N4 as much as you'll hate the slow charging in OPT. S-pen is handy feature. Samsung is still providing monthly security updates to 2yo N4 however it won't get Nougat, OPT was recently updated after 4 months with latest security patch and will also get android 7.
OPT has excellent dev support, Note 4 has none whatsoever. If you love flashing, then buying n4 will be like suicide.
Camera is good on both phones, speaker is decent.
Choose wisely!

[Q] Is this the best phone for 400€?

As the topic title says, i'm looking for a new phone to replace my boring xperia s (bootloader loocked...) and the maximum i wanna spend is 400€. So,for this money the oppo find 5 is the best option? The feature that i most apreciate is taking photos, and my xperia s do it very well...

The camera is OK but nothing amazing in my experience which is fine for me and Faux kernel has done wonders my battery life (+30-40%). Not sure the camera can compare to the Xperia.
Despite those niggles, I'd recommend the F5 above others to friends if asked but it depends on your needs. I certainly prefer it over the Note 2 and Nexus 4. For me is the sweet spot between size, screen, performance and design.
What else is on your short list?

Exactly the switch I made XS->Find5. I thought about getting the HTC One or the S4, but since I planned on running a custom ROM, I didn't want to pay for features I wouldn't use anyway.
Regrets? No. The Find5 has a Sony Sensor as camera, AFAIK the same as in the XZ. On stock ROM, the cam is pretty good, not so much on custom ROMs, though, usual closed source binary blob problems.

Hi!
If you are looking a brand new one, maybe this is the one with best camera for this price (I dont know anything about Nokia and WP) you can buy for that amount.
If you dont mind, maybe you can take a Xperia Z (same sensor, but better app) in the second market.
P.S: Yes, this is my first post in about 3 years LOL! (I prefer reading)

at the beggining i was thinking about xperia z (i'm a huge fan of the xperia line) or htc one (i don't like the samsung plastic), but i reconsidered that ... 550€ or more for a phone? i think it´s to much, so i stablished the 400€ limit, and for that money, and new phones (not used) i'm in between nexus 4 or the oppo find 5 ( i believe they are the only with superb specs and not so expensive phones ). But the nexus 4 is 4.7 inch screen, and an 8mp camera ( but i guess the 8mp i just a number).
3 things that i consider in a phone : camera; battery; development.
So, what you guys say?
If camera is a priority then you may be better looking elsewhere.
The Find 5 camera is OK in good light but struggles otherwise. My wife has a Nexus 4 and I don't rate that camera either.

I agree the Oppo is nothing to get mad excited about. The camera is very noisy. Actually in HDR mode my pictures on the Nexus 4 turned out way better!

Never had the chance to compare to a Xperia S.
But for the claims made by their commercial it doesn't live up to the promise.

I too am interested in this phone, one of my main concerns is battery life.
When you say you have about 30-40% more battery life, how many screen on time are you talking about? 5-6 hours?
Thank you.

Well you can forget the Stock firmware even with fauxes Kernel it will suck you dry. The best experience as far as battery life i had so far was with Cyanogenmod. Even so it is not running an optimized Kernel it seems to handle power mangement way better!
5-6 hours screen on is way over what you will be able to achieve with normal day 2 day use. For sure you will max out at the moment at 4 hours screen on time.
If you are looking for a new phone with lot's of battery life i would hold of another 1-2 month and see what others have to offer because Oppo didn't even release 4.2 yet but they are planning on in early August. Until then don't bother!
so, in conclusion, despite the problems with the camera ( which i think it's a software problem, not hardware ) for 400€, and with a custom rom, the oppo it's the best phone on the market?

stock camera and stock rom only thing i've done is root and kill the stock launcher, thats it no editing on those either straight out of the phone in full res.

Sorry just saw this... I've tried most of the stock/beta ROMs and as a light to moderate user, it lasts me about 24-36 hours. Without faux kernel I would get around 3 to 3.5 hours screen on (email, twitter, browser, Tapatalk, watching a TV show, taking pics/video and a few calls).
With faux setup for battery life, I can get 4.5 to 5 hours doing the same stuff and there isn't really a performance hit as I'm not doing much needing the phone to run at full speed for long.
It was really the idle drain that was killing it at around ~1.5%-2% per hour rather than ~0.8% with faux. Usually, I'm on wifi and have GPS on and leave them on when sleeping so it was overnight that saw a big improvement.

Yeah I used Stock to for a while and when you do close ups the camera makes some pretty nice pictures. But as soon as contrasts aren't really there anymore it gets potentially noisy.
I mean how much can you really expect from a smartphone camera sensor without any optics to adjust depth.
Your pictures are nice. I made some nice ones myself but they don't measure up to HTC One's Ultrapixel contrast and light condition abilities.
Funny part about all of this is probably that drivers neither on Stock or Custom are really optimized.
I do though still think the state the phone is in right now it is not worth it. Neither Stock Software nor Custom give you a really great experience with the device right now.

After trying numerous stock and custom ROM/kernel combinations, I have to disagree. Last week's Chinese Firefly is, IMO, very usable in terms of performance, battery life, and reliability.

Touch Latency

Hi guys, I was thinking of getting a Oneplus 2, but touch latency and display response is very important to me so I wanted to see what you guys think
Go for it, OnePlus 2 is a good phone apart from the heating issue. Touch latency can be fixed by flashing Custom ROMs or AOSP.. It's pretty fast. Try with your friends' device some time and check it out yourself.

Heating issue? You must have a defective unit, playing one hour real racing 3 and dead trigger 2 on leaked hydrogen marshmallow and the phones stays warm, not even hot.
And I modify thermal file so it doesn't throttle. It doesn't shutdown cores and throttle starts at 57° (quiet_term sensor) and the max temp in an hour of heavy gaming was 44°. So... Heating issue?..

A little off topic. Good news if you play games. I don't know if its marshmallow (I'm using h2os leak) optimizing apps or real racing update, but it tends to use big cores instead of little, this means better performance and less heat. My max was CPU 61° and 44° quiet_term after 30m. This is really good!, my nexus 5 gets way hotter. I will try another games later to see if its marshmallow or it was rr3 update.

way slower than my n5 or for example an Ipad air 2 which has like 9ms touch latency.. (apple pls stop teasing me with this)
So you understand better. Its not super bad, but definitely noticeable enough to the point where it will annoy you if you think about it! (stuff just doesnt stick to your finger. its always behind. After a while you just dont notice it anymore.

Coming from an HTC M9 to the Oneplus 2, the delay has consistently been driving me crazy. I hope M alleviates this, since I suspect it's related to Oxygen OS. I have reported it to Helen directly and she said they would look into it.
It's especially noticeable when typing on the keyboard.

The delay at opening apps is launcher related. I don't know if that's the delay you're talking about.

No. I don't think it's hardware related at least for my oneplus 2.
I was using galaxy s6 before and lost it, bought oneplus 2 afterwards and my first expression was what a horrible device it is.
Slow touches slow response, awkward DPI.
Rooted it and installed custom rom based on oxygen OS and set DPI to 400 and all animation to .75, since then I feel it's fast and snappy.
Try this I hope your touch latency issues wll be solved.

May be Switching from Note 3 to Moto X Pure

So obviously it's about time for me to get a new phone, considering mine is never going to make it past 5.0 lollipop and various other reasons. I just want to know what to expect if I do end up getting the Moto X Pure. Will I be happy/satisfied with my purchase? Will there be a huge learning curve?

I would say go for it if you don't care about the Spen. The Note 3 is a great phone but I enjoy the Pure alot more. There is no bloat to speak of and you can unlock the bootloader and flash whatever you want. Camera wise the Pure is better. I especially like the Moto display where you can wave your hand in front of the lock screen to see your notifications and unlock it instead of pressing buttons. I would suggest to get at least a 32GB or more model. I currently have the 16GB one and find it too small so I have a 64GB on it's way. It makes things easier when flashing ROMs because you don't need to format the external SD to adaptive storage.

Im not sure why those reviews say that.
I constantly get 4 - 5hrs screen on time, occasionally it'll get 6hrs screen on time, that was on stock non rooted.
I've also recently rooted and flashed xposed with gravity box and still continue to get very acceptable battery life.
i have the US version of the Pure. Not sure if my phone just got a good battery.

I came from note 3 as well. On it since it came out. I've seen quite a spread on what people get. I'll low ball and say definitely 3 1/2, 4 1/2 with some management. Better build than 3 (expected). You'll have to get used to the color changes. Samsung saturates, so remember that. Someone posted getting 32 at least. I definitely agree with that statement. Don't bother with 16, even with the availability of SD card. Great radio. Unlocked for carriers. Price can't be beat. Only other option would be Nexus 6P.

Def agree with everyone to get 32gb or above. What took me by surprise is this phone has no LED notification.....unless your rooted and running a rom which supports it (most do). Also when you root you will be able to control doze much more efficiently and get much better standby battery. This has the brightest screen I have ever seen (have it on 5%-10% while indoors), great audio jack/speaker sound/reception/camera and battery charges ridiculously quick. It's safe to say you will love this phone.

@spookykidmm, don't listen to this clown. Xposed doesn't affect battery life. If you're running some janky modules, you could run in to issues, but that's not Xposed. Additionally, normal battery life is not pathetic. Battery life on the Galaxy S6 is pathetic. I usually average between 5-6 hrs SOT depending on usage (with or without Xposed). Typically the people on here that complain are in the minority... that's true for nearly every phone. And a lot of times, they screw things up on their own and blame the phone

Do you think root and xposed is necessary for a good experience?

Since battery depends on many variables like screen brightness, signal strength, apps installed, sync frequency, etc....your setup could be giving you horrible battery life, but explain to me how xposed makes battery that much worse....you must have many modules incorrectly configured.
My girlfriend upgraded from her Note 3 to the Moto X Pure when I upgraded at the same time from my LG G4 to this and we're both EXTREMELY satisfied. Dev support is on the rise so you'll have a few choices in ROMs. I'm currently rockin' TruPureXMM v2.5 with Franken Kernel using his Battery Profile settings, xPosed with GravityBox, Amplify & XGPM and can honestly say I couldn't be much happier with the experience overall.
We have the 64 GB models and neither of us use an sdCard since it's been more than enough for us. Google Photos keeps our photos stored and Google Play Music is our choice of service (Family Plan for $14.99 a month) which lets us stream our over 23,000 song collection and gives us access to any song on Google Play with no ads and since we have T-Mobile the music streaming isn't going against our high speed data, which is very nice. As other are saying, you will enjoy the dual-front speakers, the screen is great, and battery life is within reasonable acceptance. You can squeeze more out of it fairly easily with some tweaking and the quick-charge is INSANE. You can't beat the charger that comes with this phone.

Your reviews about the device

I'm planning to buy gm 5 plus very soon
I want your reviews about the device
Battery life
Does it overheat
Camera
What about system smoothness
I know that it's an android one device though
Thanks in advance

It's good. But it has some software problems.
Only both cameras are not-too-good in hardware.
But you should check the display. It's very good

By saying software problems
Does it lag a lot?
What if I use custom Rom like CyanogenMod?

I bought this phone 3 days ago. My old phone was Android one 2nd generation (snapdragon 410). I didn't tested any custom ROMs yet. But I know people who flashed cm14 and they said it lags a lot because cm14 is on very early alpha stages. I didn't asked anyone about cm13.
But stock rom is not lagging. It's flawless.
I got these issues since I got my phone:
1. Screen flashes after reboot for 2 minutes (I don't know why but they're gone now)
2. When I change camera rear to front it stucks on Snapchat. Don't use double tap. Use camera change button. It works.
3. Some people don't experience this issue but notification light is only working when it's charging. I don't see any blinks when notification comes up.
4. Google camera is crap. Use manual camera. It's on play store.

It's OK man
It's more overheating than my old Android one phone. But it's definitely less heating than my very old sgs2. It's not uncomfortable. It's meh-normal.
I get 6 hours screen on time on a day.

Also why do you want to change your j7?
It has almost same specs. And it's better for gaming than this.
Battery life is average... One day for me...
And i don't have overheathing at all...
Phone works fine, no lags, no any problem (android nougat is installed)

GM5 plus
Hi man,
I'm very happy with the device. I have had little to no lag since the nougat 7.0 update. The processor has little difficulty managing the usual task on a smartphone. Perhaps it's a little different for user that actually play graphic intense games. Battery heating isn't a problem but I do find the battery a bit small for the device (I have to load it at least half an hour to get me through a day of intense use.
Hi
I finally bought this phone.
The camera is kinda bad, colors are good but they lack sharpness and details. I had a Zenfone 5 that took way sharper images than this phone.
Battery life is ok. I get 4-5 hours screen-on-time.
Some problems i have with the device : the phone makes a buzzing sound that comes from the back when 4G/GPS is activated, also when i go to Play Store and then Settings and then scroll down i can see "Device certification : Uncertified". Anyone else getting this?
nice phone without battery
Nice overall performance. Cameras are both the same, and perform good. Colors are a bit oversaturated in general, that's not a camera problem. Gets a little hot while managing heavy applications, but nothing to worry about. Battery has improved, it's better than it's predecessors, but still not as good as it should be. Fast charging is quite interesting, but the charger included is only 2.4A, not 3.0 as it supports. In my opinion, 8.5/10. I have this phone from 2 months now.
I have GM5 Plus for 6 months now. Generally, the phone is ok for the price. It does not lag but becomes hot while playing. I think because of the heat issue screen now has some spots on the screen while looking on the white background, other times its not visible. Cameras are normal. Battery life is not super but is ok. Battery life is somehow balanced with super fast charging for me. Overall, I think for the budget phone its very good smartphone.
Very bad device I don't recommend

[Discussion]The S8 is the smoothest Android interface I've ever used. Thoughts?

So for those of you who have gone through a ton of Android phones like I have, do you think it's the smoothest you've used? The S8 is nothing like the S7 touch wiz or I call it tough wiz. It was choppy and sticky. This S8 is so fluid and smooth. The more I use it the more I appreciate it. It's by far the smoothest interface I've used. However I have not used the Pixel but did have the Nexus 6p which I think the Pixel is a tweaked out version of the 6p anyway and the S8 beats it out. What do you guys think. Is the S8 the smoothest Android interface on the market? I think so. Just curious of everyone's take on it. Chime in and let me know what your take is. Do you keep your S8 at full resolution or do you keep it in default mode as it came? Also it seems that most have the plus version. I feel like I am the minority having the regular S8. Post what you have either the regular size or the plus and why you chose your model. I'm just curious of others thoughts. I also see a lot of people not using a screen protector. I'm definitely using one but not a tempered glass. I'm using a liquid skin by skinomi. Post what you use or the kind as I'm curious what else is out there that is good. The Skinomi is great and does not collect fingerprints hardly at all. So are you a regular size S8 user or a Plus user? Tell me why you chose one over the other. I personally like the one handed use. I wanted the plus but I was afraid it would be just too big after prolonged usage. I might be totally wrong though. Anyways thoughts???
They won't believe you but I think my s8 plus it's the smoothest
After a few months, I totally don't have the feeling to find custom rom and flash it. Samsung phone that I used previously always end up running a custom rom, I always feel something ****ty and need to find custom rom to change it.
But this is the first phone that I break the screen so fast T.T
I broke it last week....i thought I already put my phone in my pocket, but after I release my hand.... Good bye my screen, time to waste some time at the service center ><

My Experience
It is the best Samsung Interface but It is not the smoothest android interface. Xperia has very light UI which is very smooth as well as HTC sense is also fluid, these custom UI doesn't have more features than Samsung's UI but they are optimized better than samsung's UI.
Stock its stuttering and quite laggy. With a custom Rom and kernel it's great.

I came from a OP3t which was insanely smooth so maybe that's why.

I love my new s8+ . I have to agree it is very smooth and fast.
I've had my S8+ from TMo since day one and it lags a lot. The features are great, but the lag is too much. I shouldn't have to factory reset a phone to get great performance.
