Question on 5.1.1

Quick background. So my note 4 is currently on 5.0.1 boe1, stock rooted knox flag tripped so I cant update via OTA to 5.1.1 which is fine, I'm already readying myself for a manual Odin update
Question is that if there is a 5.1.1 firmware avail on my country for my provider, if I flash the stock 5.1.1 firmware does it also flash the 5.1.1 bootloader or will it retain my 5.0.1 bootloader? I'm pretty sure it will also update the bootloader but wanted to ask anyway to confirm.
Main reason for asking is that I know you lose root when you flash stock firmware via Odin. I'd still want to attain root after upgrading to 5.1.1. Not sure if there are any methods to date to root on 5.1.1 bootloader, or if its safe to flash the 5.0.1 bootloader after the 5.1.1 stock firmware flash.
TIA for those who would answer. [emoji1]

Simple bro. Don't forget to backup your data!!!
Poland 5.1.1 comes with 4 files including bootloader, modem, csc and system. Country or provider means nothing for it, it will work anyway. So, here are the things you gonna do:
1-) Flash Poland 5.1.1 with odin (be careful to place all files in correct section in odin!!!)
2-) Enable usb debugging from developer options
3-) Flash twrp with odin
4-) Lastly, flash which 5.1.1 rom you like, all of them are rooted now :good:
Bumping up since 5.1.1 is already avail on my country. Wanted to know if flashing the 5.1.1 firmware would wipe the device or will it be just an upgrade.?Haven't tried flashing an official firmware on top of an official stock (lower version).

It won't wipe your phone data, it will be like an upgrade.
Secondly tripping knox does not mean you will not receive OTA. As long as you are fully stock and when you check the system status in settings and it states 'official' you will receive the OTAs

Thanks! Yep, realize that now. I believe the reason I can't receive OTA is due to the custom recovery I've installed. Will try reverting to stock recovery first to see if I can OTA upgrade. If not, will download the full firmware and flash on ODIN.

The ROM might still consider your device to modified, You may have to flash stock from Odin and then check the status, if it still says modified then a factory reset might be required.

Is it possible to build a pre-rooed stock ROM?

I have a ZE550KL still stock and don't want to root it until I can find a way to build a pre-rooted stock ROM so I can keep root but also update or downgrade versions as I like.
I also have a Sony Z3 and a Samsung S3 and both are quite easy to build pre-rooted stock ROMs, especially the Sony with PRFCreator. Now we have the TWRP recovery, flashable SuperSU zip and stock ROMs, is there any way to create a flashable pre-rooted stock ROM?
you may use pre rooted patched firmware
http://forum.xda-developers.com/zen...oot-ze550kl-zenfone-laser-z00ld-1-15-t3249326
you do not need to unlock your phone.
just follow instructions, latest firmware is in same link.
you may download any version you wish.

Yes I know I can flash your patched firmware but I was hoping that after the initial root that I want to be able to create my own pre-rooted stock firmware. At present I always have to wait until you post an updated patched firmware.

How do I root if I'm on B0A8? The link to root Lollipop doesn't mention that version

Hi. I recently manually (Odin) updated to 5.0.0 or version G900VVRU1B0A8. I s it possible to root while on that version? I see this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-galaxy-s5/general/root-method-og5-ok3-t3290370
But it's talking about bootloader versions different than mine.
Any help is appreciated.
The link is talking about a method where bootloader downgrade is no longer an option.
In your case, you would need to odin back to NCG, root it (using Towel root), install FlashFire. Then following instruction on below:

Rooting and unlocking MM

Will the exploit "Working Root Method For 5.0 Lollipop Roms [OE1] [OG5] [OK3] [PB1] [3-3-16]" work on Marshmallow after getting the MM ota (flashed stock G900VBPB1 prior to downloading)
No. Attempting it will most likely softbrick your device, and possibly hardbrick.

Nandr0idC0nsumer is correct, but you still can get root on MM even after having taken the OTA. However you will need to flash back to PB1, root PB1, then unlock the PB1 bootloader; after which you will need to do the MM bootloader Unlock and root method, http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...t/rd-unlocking-galaxys-s5-bootloader-t3337909

PJ2 -> PE1

Title pretty much says all. Any possible way to downgrade from PJ2 to PE1? I want to root my device. Unless anyone can link me with instructions on how to root on PJ2.
I don't think so because there don't have the same bootloader. Since PJ2 you s newer than PE1 theit will error when you Odin then older firmware. If you decide to try I would make sure you have both firmwares available to flash back. I hopeful someone will figure out how to get root once again with the new bootloader.
