Download size cap - AT&T Note 7 Questions & Answers

Is there a cap on the size of an app or file that you can download over cellular data on the AT&T branded Note7 on AT&T's network?

Bell Atrix on AT&T

Anyone unlocked a bell atrix and used it on AT&T in the US? I'm curious if you can use the unlimited media net plan or if it is detected as an atrix in IMEI sweeps.
I'm assuming by unlimited Media Net plan, you mean the plan for AT&T not-so-smart phones? If so, then no, you probably wouldn't be able to use it as it would more than likely be detected in the sweep.

It should, however the unlimited medianet plan is $15, while the unlimited data smartphone is $30
I'm just curious if anyone has tried it.
Found another post that said it is recognized... Sad news..
If you sim unlock your phone, and put a at&t sim in there, It becomes an at&t phone. IMEI don't mean ****

The imei is the ONLY thing that matters. If its a non-att imei then you can use unlimited data for 15 dollars. If its an att imei then you have to use tiered data.

I guess that may be it. But another guy here has a bell ATRIX on AT&T and his phone was detected. And I have an AT&T ATRIX on bell and its not detected. That tells me from what you are saying that AT&T has bells imei's but bell don't have AT&T 's
Edit:
Also, if that is the case, why does my ATRIX show as a blackberry bold in my bell account? I have my blackberry bold simcard in it..

Because bell does things differently than att. The bold display is some kind of error. But obviously each company uses imei database in a different fashion. This is well documented all over the web.
It makes more sense that it goes by imei, it was seeing my bold show up that made me kind of think it might be the sim. Either way I seem to be getting unlimited data out of it. Since I download EVERYTHING over 3g and have yet to see more than 1 mb used on my phone bill

SGS2 on ATT Dumbphone Data Plan

Do we have to get AT&T to add a 4G SOC code to our dumbphone data plan in order to get the "4G" speeds? I'm on an unlimited 4G PDA plan right now (grandfathered) but I'd prefer to save $20 a month (we have family text unlimited) and still retain my unlimited data
Oh I won't be getting my SGS2 for a few days so I can't try it out yet.
Seriously read and search its been asked a milking times.

As there are no "4g" dumbphones, why would there be a 4g SOC code for dumbphones? There isn't. I don't think you will notice much of a difference in speeds between the "4g" plan and a dumbphone plan.

The Nexi are the only one's that have been caught because Google provides the carriers with the IMEI numbers. The SGS1 (GT-i9000) has never been flagged.

At&TS new $50 unlimited everything plan?

Anyone know which phones work on this? I was told smartphones need a separate data plan, but what if I used unbranded or Canadian Phone?
I just bought a att 3g compatible nexus one. Will that work? And if they do detect my imei as a smartphone, can I just pop it into a dumbphone and switch right back to my nexus to get data again? Or would I have to call customer service?
I think the plan is similar to the medianet plan, what experience do you have with that?

If they don't recognize the IMEI it'll probably work on medianet. I know some folks using unlocked T-Mo Vibrants and imported Galaxy S IIs on the $50 prepaid deal and it's working.
as long as it isn't ATT branded then you should be fine
My nexus isn't branded. I heard some reports of att getting the tmo nexus imeis but didn't hear about the att version! I'm nervous BC I already bought it haha

Most or all unbranded phones will work. Barely any old ATT branded phones work. No iphones work.
This is without buying the additional data. ATT will give you data if they think you are using a featurephone, like unbranded phones. Speeds will be throttled though to about 0.50 mbps.
If you want unthrottled speeds, buy a straight talk nokia e71 and swap the sim out. It is $45/mo. The e71 can be bought for $100 from their website right now as a refurbished phone. http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...!-Everything-you-need-to-know-to-make-it-work!
Says iphone, but you can any phone. You can use att branded phones or unbranded phones it does not matter. Data is limited to about 2gb even though it says unlimited. They will cancel your account if you use too much.
Thanks so much. So much. You have no idea. Thanks. Thank you soooooo much. I had no idea straight talk worked too. Thanks. Thanks. Thanks. Super thanks. More help is appreciated too.!!!!!

Also forgot to say, H2O wireless has a unlimited talk and text plan with 250mb of data for $50 per month. It uses the att network just like straight talk does. You can bring any phone you want I think. Just get a sim card from them.

I know this is not true with the postpaid Medianet plan. Is this something that only applies to the prepaid medianet feature?

They only throttle the prepaid plan. The postpaid medianet is $10/month if you get unlimited texting. Or it is $15 without any texting I think.

Unlimited Data For Anyone! (AT&T) [IPHONE 2G REQUIRED] **Correct Way**

This was posted before. It will NOT work once they do an IMEI dump. SO.. THIS is how it should be done. Yes, it works.
1) You must have an iPhone 2G, and a sim card that has never been registered to an iPhone 2G before
2)Register the iPhone 2G in iTunes.
3) Check online account to see if plan went through, or call 611 and confirm.
4) Use the phone for a day to show some usage
5) Put SIM card into your Atrix or whichever 4G device you'll be using.
6) Call AT&T and tell them you got new phone. You will be grandfathered in to new Unlimited data plan. $5 a month more.
5) Enjoy your unlimited data!
Again, if you use previous guide you will be put into a 2gb data plan when they do an IMEI dump and see you're using an Atrix on an Edge data plan. Activate Edge plan, then TELL THEM you upgraded. They may try to BS you, dont let them. They CAN and WILL grandfather you into an updated unlimited plan!!!
And you know this how...?

That "other" guide was not incorrect. It worked for many users. Fyi. Worked for me just fine.

It will work yes. Until an imei dump. If you don't tell Att to upgrade you and they dump while you're using an Atrix on a 2G plan, they'll add a data plan but it won't be unlimited.
Okay, it wasn't incorrect... Just inaccurate and incomplete.

I have the same question.
Yes, you provide the IMEI# of your ATRIX. but because you have the Iphone 2G unlimited data the computer grandfathers you in and they can upgrade your $20/month plan into the unlimited $30/month plan.
I am having an issue trying to activate the iphone. I got the iphone 2g and i wiped the data and plugged it in to itunes and itunes reconizes the iphone but does nto try to activate the phone. am i doing something wrong?

T-Mobile $60 monthly 4g vs Solavei $49 plan

Before you ditch T-Mobile, check this out:
http://www.tmonews.com/2013/03/brea...-no-contract-one-rate-plan-fits-all-approach/
T-Mobile prioritize their traffic over the MVNO's, they only supports IPv6 on their APN's, and will have better price options in a few weeks.
MVNO's all have some kind of hidden gotcha.

Just a clarification. Roaming is not everywhere. Only in certain areas. T mobile does prioritize themselves compared to MVNO's (who wouldn't lol) Sinal is the same, however what is prioritized is data.

Rumor has it, the credit check for T-Mobile post-paid will be dropped:
http://www.tmonews.com/2013/06/t-mobile-set-to-launch-uncarrier-phase-2-on-june-23rd/
Solavei Mobile Hotspot and Tethering are not currently supported services:
https://support.solavei.com/docs/DOC-2172
Use of hotspots or tethering a phone to use it as a modem for another device is not supported per the Solavei Mobile Service Terms and Conditions:
https://support.solavei.com/message/27787#27787
It should also be noted that Solavei (and most other MVNO's to be fair) currently have no LTE access.
The real savings come with the (no contract) family plans.
