Phoenix ROM Samsung galaxy s7 edge little issues - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Phoenix ROM is my favourite go to ROM for my s7. I don't want to switch a rom however, there is no way for me to use volte on it. I have tried *#4636#*#* with no luck. Installed Apps that could do it manually still with no luck. Since I am a novice and cannot reply directly to tamirdas post, can someone please ask him to make an easy volte patch? Or if there's any other way I can do it, that would be nice. Furthermore, the wideselfie on the camera app in version 2 of phoenix doesn't work. Thanks

Custom rom won't install vr, despite claims from rom users it works...

I have two s7 edges, one stock rom which works fine and this one - which was stock rom until last night. I rooted and installed KINGROM and everything is lovely, all except now my gear vr won't recognize when it's attached so won't install any software.
I wanted to post in the kingrom forum, but I don't have enough posts to do so, so I have to ask here.
Does anyone know why the headset isn't triggering the install? I can confirm it worked when on stock rom, and the KINGROM page claims that the vr is fully supported.
Australian stock, Optus carrier.
Many thanks
You gotta fix all those formatting on your post dude.
I dont have THAT specific rom but maybe it has an aroma installer where it gives you the option to enable it? The superman rom i had that, i selected it and my gear vr works perfectly.

Most ROM Makers remove apps that your MAJORITY dont use, VR could be one of them.
You may need to add it in yourself, Or it could be a option when installing.
If you have two phones, then check for the APK in system, and if its there, see if its present in your ROM where VR does not work.

nice to know superman rom works with VR... im already on that ROM and im planning to buy a VR instead of buying a google cardboard knockoff (aka the chinese vr boxes)...
@Toldorn
i use kingrom and vr is working flawlessly
in aroma when you flash it it gives option to remove apps you don't want and I'm sure you removed gear vr apps required to work
reflash it and don't remove anything.dont select any app in 3rd and 4th pages in aroma

In my experience, it's often more stable to root the stock firmware and then remove the bloatware (using Titanium Backup or Link2SD). That way you have a rom that's tailored for the device and you don't have issues like the camera not working on custom roms, certain video codecs that aren't supported, ...
Unless there's an official CyanogenMod or LineageOS for the device.

That is what I want, but can't seem to get it done. The newest Magisk is not working. Older versions aren't. Anyone got it done? Just need root to get storage rights for external SD for Syncthing..
ok, got root working now. used the "old" way, supersu, for an old ROM..

Is Mirror link working in any custom ROM?

Hi, anyone knows if there is any rom with Mirror link working?
Mirror link is not screen Mirror to the TV. It is the connection to the car MP5 with the USB and you can manage your phone with the car touch screen.
If It doesn't work now but anyone knows if nearly It will be implemented in any rom please say me in which one.
Thanks and regards.
I'm looking into this as well, I've been wanting to install a custom rom such as @Ivan_Meler LOS Rom, but it has pushed my phone to a "Phone is not compatible" reading on the headunit.
Little back story:
I have a Samsung Gal. S7 and a Honda Civic 2015 and I've been able to do Mirrorlink when it was working on a completely stock rom. Only problem was I was trying to mirrorlink the full phone screen and not have to use the Samsung Car mode, Rockscout, etc. I've tried every trick in the book even one which required the phone to be rooted. (AAUnlock and AAMirror) I used SuperSU, whick I should now look into trying Magisk, and see if that makes any difference.
What I've noticed is that once the phone is rooted, even on a stock rom, the Head Unit in my car switches to "Phone is not compatible". Again, I rooted it with SuperSU. I've been able to locate a S7 Stock Rom which I'll go back to and see if I can get that working again. Once that's established, I'll try with Magisk, and see if there's any difference.
So far with every rom I've tried including LOS (most Roms are based from LOS), the phone hasnt worked in mirrorlink. I'm hoping that @Ivan_Meler makes an update that allows it, as it seems his is the only ROM that gets updated on a frequent basis. I'm hoping that this (along with other issues) gets resolved on the Rom and this can become my daily driver.

If you want to use these old roms, make sure you change the thermals. I highly recommend Jabashque 6, the links are on my thermals thread.
As good as that version of Omni is, Darkobas himself said that longterm use will kill dramatically hurt longterm battery life.
You could use the compatible Blackscreen with the Jabashque thermals and your experience will be perfect.
BY the way, Oreo and Pie Roms are awesome. If you try Pie tryout Lineage 16 its awesome!
Thanks
i want at least oreo, i tried Omni but Mirrorscreen does not work

Galaxy A20 Pie downgrade to Oreo

Hi all, I'm finally back on android after making the mistake of switching to iPhone temporarily. I have a Galaxy A20 (SM-A205U) on Pie OneUI on Boost Mobile service. I was hoping to use my custom fonts again, before I used ThemeGalaxy to apply the fonts but that doesn't seem to work anymore. I downloaded GxFonts also and can't seem to get that to work either. Is it possible to use custom fonts on Pie or should I try and downgrade to Oreo? I've never downgraded software before,
so can anyone recommend a website for a novice Thanks for any advice/ tips

Sorry to inform you that the A205U is the only A20 that cannot be changed in terms of OS.
Better to find some custom fonts.
You could try rooting your phone using Magisk and install a module called -> Font changer. This should solve your problem.

s7 rom?

hello,
i'm looking for a ROM, that everything works. Everywhere I read, this or that doesn't work.
I'm looking for something that isn't too old and everything works without a problem.
it is not necessary to have android 9 or 10.
Thank you in advance for your answers.
Someone?
I can't guarantee that every single thing will work but blackdiamond n8 is a fantastic rom. You can choose which bloatware apps you want and other settings

Then stay on stock rom its the best one that fits your criteria..
Also depends what you exactly need custom rom for.. you need often to sacrifice on somethings to get another ..
At this point.. if you are new to rooting and custom OS scenario, i recommend staying on stock.. because it is now more complex procedure and gives far more problems sometimes then it gives benefit. Imho the benefits of rooting/custom OSes are degrading slowly to the point where its just a useless hassle..
But ofcourse its everyone's choice.. you want to live on the edge by trying new OSes/new things/features you are free to do.. just make sure you know how to do everything safely, and backing up the vital data, like copying your nv data (the first thing after gaining su access), knowing the correct/safe procedure and please DON'T "ACCIDENTALLY" turn oem unlock off..
I personally recommend gaining su access by SYSYEM LESS methods plus magisk in order to avoid dm verity errors and encryption problems.. it also makes it less likely to mess with your nv data..
See alexndr's system less dev base and custom rom.. its based on stock 8.0 too (i think its all stock) and also stable too
https://forum.xda-developers.com/s7-edge/development/rom-dqd1-devbase-v4-1-multi-csc-safe-t3591647/
OR if you want to live on the edge.. backup your nv data and try custom roms like black diamonds, hyper rom, deluxe rom and any other which is being actively updated/supported.. try and find your taste on your own and report problems on their threads (every rom has their problems)
But i would either root stock "system lessly" or flash alexndr's custom systemless OS devbase
