Marshmallow firmare H63120G for T-mobile LG Stylo - LG G Stylo Guides, News, & Discussion

Available via OTA ~350MB
PS: Just don't try to downgrade it using LGUP to the previous version. It will hardbrick your phone

FYI: My phone says the update will start downloading automatically between 11pm and 4am and is 356.0 MB

It downloaded like it said it would and I let it install this morning.

what is on the new update?

I didn't try to fix it because my phone is under warranty and now it's on its way to LG for repair, but I thing it would be very difficult to fix.
To root the new update I think you will need to unlock the bootloader, boot with custom recovery, and flash supersu.

MAJE SURE YOU ARE OEM BOOTLOADER UNLOCKED!!...20g can achieve root (after loading 20g kdz with lgup by using adb fastboot to sideload 10j version of twrp) flash the latest chainfire sr1 systemless root reboot and flash 10j twrp via flashify... Systemless root works great,... Adaway etc all working without issue. I have the metro variant.

Root Marshmallow Lgh340n?

Anyone know when will be released for lg h340n Marshmallow root
I wanna know too ??
i too
I think the only possible root method is Chainfire's systemless root.
But you need to unlock the bootloader (warranty void) and install TWRP. But as always read about it:

The question is how do we unlock the bootloader( or we just tick OEM Unlock from Dev settings) and how do we enter in fastboot mode to install twrp?
I am trying since several days to somehow install TWRP. And nothing works so far for the H340N .
My next idea is to downgrade again to v10h, then try to root (via kingroot i guess?). Change from kingroot to SU, then install Flashfire. Through Flashfire you should be able to install a OTA Update, such as Android 6.0 without loosing root. And then when you have root and the option to OEM-Unlock you should be able to install TWRP through the TWRP-Manager app. Or am i wrong at some point?
Would be nice to just have access to fastboot mode in marshmallow though...
A new version of kingroot was released yesterday. Can someone check if this version can root our device on marshmallow?

No, because there is not a fastboot mode as far as i know
Sent from my C6903 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I've seen some people with LG g4 with the same problem on MM. They can't root withou tunlocking bootloader. That sucks balls. Seems to be that the root needs to be on the boot partition, which is inaccessible without unlocking bootloader. The thing is, will OEM UNLOCK unlock bootloader? That's it? :/
Normally you can do "adb reboot-bootloader" and then "fastboot boot twrp.img".
But "adb reboot-bootloader" does not work with V20a, it just starts a normal boot.
Any luck so far?
Any News???
I would greatly appreciate if someone got a solution to root the H340N with android 6.0. Kingroot doesn't seem to support Android 6.0... :/
Regarding the "systemless root", anyone tried it with this phone and Android version?
I want to know to, and doeas anyone know how to unlock he bootloader, i have allow oem nlock ticked, but how do i actually do it, it doesn;t help that lg blocked the bootloader and recovery
root marshmallow lg h340n
Any news for root lg leon h340n?
Up, any2?
Hi,
...any information on how to apply root on this model would be appreciated, thank you.
Hi,
I successful root my LG-H340n marshmallow a few month ago. It's a mix of several tips found on Internet.
Using USB download mode and "LG Root Script v1.3", it's possible to have an access to partitions and change recovery partition to TWRP. Using the same way I change also aboot partition (with one compatible with twrp).
After TWRP installed, I use it to install SuperSU systemless root.
And It's magic now I can use my SD card and Apps2SD to create symbolinc link to my apps and free internal memory !
I have some notes and links, if you want, I can write a tutorial.

17S update - can't root phone anymore

Hi,
Can anyone help me, please?
I used to have the version 16s installed on my phone but after the forced update, got the official 17s version installed.
Lost root access and got a lot of chinese apps installed.
Now I can't root my phone anymore. I've tried a a lot of methods/twrps and can't get the phone to boot to twrp recovery.
After flashing the recovery.img, phone only reboot again to the chinese rom.
From what I'm reading on a xda topic, it seems the same as this guy:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/leeco-le1-pro/development/letv-x800-ruschrom-1-0-25e-t3224702/page41
Thanks for the reply. My phone used to be rooted, too (Lollipop), but became unrooted during an unwanted OTA update and can not be re-rooted ever since (Marshmallow). None of the King/o/root/etc. apps did the job over ADB from a pc or installed on my phone. Flashing supersu zip from TWRP got my phone into a bootloop last night from which I could only get out by re-locking the bootloader and installing a stock ROM. The bloody 17v update notice keep popping up and I have no choice but to let it install sooner or later. If I ever manage to re-root my device, I'll try your method.

H918 on 10d rooted

Posting at the top now:
Ok. For whatever reason (me not knownig 100% what I'm doing) I have upgraded to 10k and lost TWRP and Root.
After trying to downgrade to 10j I am not able to root following the recowvery method. I just keep getting 100 different errors.
10j also seems buggy as hell - getting constant "app has crashed" errors in rapid succession.
I am going to upgrade to 10k and leave without root for now.
Any bounties for 10k Root methods yet?
ANSWERED:
Currently on 10d firmware on my tmo v20. Should I bother with updating to 10j and trying to manually root? Do the updates really make any difference? If this is recommended, and someone knows a good walk through (I have read pages and pages and haven't made sense of it) I would forever appreciate it!!
It sounds like you are saying that you are already rooted and on 10d. If so, I suggest you just follow the directions in this thread to get to 10k while retaining root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/h918-twrp-flashable-stock-firmwares-t3619671
If you are not already rooted, here's what you should do (IMHO):
Unlock the bootloader. This will force a factory reset, so make sure you have everything backed up. If you need to backup app data without root, use Helium from the app store. It requires a computer program, too.
Root the phone and install TWRP.
Use this to upgrade to 10k while retaining root: https://forum.xda-developers.com/v20/how-to/h918-twrp-flashable-stock-firmwares-t3619671
Profit.
Yeah, I am currently rooted on 10d.
My overall question is do I NEED to update to 10j? Is there any advantage, or am I ok just leaving it on 10d?

No need to root 10k. Downgrade to 10j. Reroot 10j and install TWRP. Use the 10k upgrade THROUGH TWRP! That was your mistake. You didn't upgrade through TWRP.
Take a deep breath and start over.
I did upgrade through twrp. Didn't work.

If you upgraded withTWRP, then you should STILL have TWRP, so you can install 10k and SuperSU through TWRP.

When I did, I read somewhere that I had to do something special in order to NOT lose TWRP, I hadn't done anything. I just upgraded through TWRP. When the device booted, I no longer had root, so I put it into adb and did ADB REBOOT RECOVERY. It launched into the red triangle android screen - where it should have been TWRP.
I did NOT have TWRP
Ok, I am now downgraded to 10j, and rooted with TWRP.

??
When I downloaded the zip and installed it in TWRP using install it seemed to have wiped TWRP from the phone.
"flash necessary partition images with the exception of recovery (to keep TWRP) from the KDZ
rename /system/recovery-from-boot.p to /system/recovery-from-boot.bak to prevent stock recovery from being installed on boot
wipes dalvik-cache and cache"
What do I rename, and where?? I don't see any files or any directories anything close to the referenced in the .zip provided
EDIT: I think I have it now... Android is upgrading

If you installed twrp, then you can not flash incremental OTA rom.. You must always download full rom to update. Even if your phone not rooted.
Also, You could get bootloop / Brick your phone and get Relocked Bootloader and lose TWRP.
Like Rukijo said, just download the full rom (.Zip format) and flash it via recovery. You will keep the Unlocked bootloader and the TWRP.

In order to root your device, you need to flash TWRP .
Future ASUS firmware will be posted on ASUS website & you need to install the new update via STOCK RECOVERY

You need stock bootloader to install OTA updates [RECOMMENDED]
(I found a thread to flash OTA's using TWRP by flashing no-verity but I am not sure that it will work on TWRP 3.2.1)
I am not really sure about the Magisk Manager (I'm still new to Magisk)

When the new update released just flash it via twrp and reflash magisk, anything will okay. And the option patch boot.img it really not work since the oreo rom, you will get error while patching boot and installing module magisk.
Which unlock tool did you use?
The nougat one unlocked oreo too? Great!!!!
This weekend, I try Oreo stock with Magisk, and Titanium Backup can't restore apps+data. I thinking Magisk issue and I return to LOS14 because I need my phone with my data.

I used tool for nougat from Asus website. So what is The best way for root this phone and make future updates?
I would like to finally know how it is with these updates. Unlocked the bootloader with the official application I would like to be able to upload updates. If I download TWRP and root my phone, I will be able to upload updates from Asus (the whole software file). Will the phone detect this file and update the system as it used to do? Will I have to upload it via TWRP? If by TWRP is how to do it step by step? dm-verity file needed? Is it possible to root my phone without uploading TWRP? Patching the boot.img oreo file with the Magisk manager does not work. Or give up magisk and upload supersu? Could anyone write instructions on how to proceed to root and upload system updates as they will be released by the manufacturer in the future? There are no step by step solution on this forum that can help me finally understand my problem and doubts

As you officially unlocked the BL, you will not get the ota notification in the future but you can download the full firmware zip from asus website and flash it normally ( you should be on the full stock recovery and boot to flash the ota or the firmware zip and remove magisk before flashing then re-flash it again after the update ). When you rooted your phone and don't have the stock recovery and boot images needed for flashing the updates, you can flash the RAW firmware and you will getback to full stock again without losing your data.

if you want to use stock recovery, you don't need magisk or the no-verity file. If you want to use twrp, because it works for the 100th time, you will need either.
Ktl20, you will not brick your phone trying either method, so why don't you experiment and find out for yourself, that's the best way to learn.
