Lock screen dock/control center - Honor 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

Ha! I've had this phone for a week and a day now, and only just realized yesterday that it has a dock that's available from the bottom of the lock screen that gives you quick access to the voice recorder, calculator, flashlight and camera, in addition to the controls that allow you to work with the picture files that are displayed on the default "magazine"-style lock screen that the phone uses.
Definitely need to sit down and read the user manual I downloaded for this phone. I had thoroughly explored through all the Settings that are available through the phone's main Settings menu, but all of this stuff for the lock screen just doesn't exist there. It seems to only be accessible from this dock on the lock screen itself.

What programs you looking for ?

Currently looking for .
Today icon to turn off screen so I can leave WIFI and MSN on with screen off.
Today icon to switch between landscape portrait.
Today bar that shows outgoing calls in minutes and sms texts sent.
Icon on today screen that lets me turn GPS on or off so it doesnt connect itself but I dont need dummy entries.
Task list that actually shows task title like " Walk dog " didnt like taskplus.
Remote software for TV, DVD etc.
What does anyone use for the above and what is everyone else looking for ?
woo.. I won't start about what I'm looking for - it's too much But I ordered (though it's on back order.. bah) the DevKit from MS, so maybe I'll make my own solutions in due time.
Anyway...
For the first two, just get one of the many utilities that allow you to launch a program from your Today Screen. I used tdLaunch right now, might move to cLaunch (same program, bit more functions), or use a different solution altogether. Then get...

...to rotate your screen

or

or
http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=16314 (includes a component)
...to turn your screen off. Please note that I'm using the last one, and it turns the entire screen off (not just the backlight, the LCD panel as well) - so it won't respond to taps or anything; you'll have to use the on/off button to turn the screen back on. I don't know whether the other two turn the LCD off, or only the backlight.
Then just launch the appropriate application from your today screen using the today screen launching app. Simple as that
just checked - the other two turn the entire screen off as well
You need one single SW: SPB Pocket Plus[/url]

SLock - New X1 Screen Lock - Check out the latest version- its an X1 must have !!!!

SLock
Does what is says on the tin, it locks the screen, not any of the hardware buttons. Its a lite lock.
I created this because the native lock used by the X1 needs to be enabled with a Today screen plug-in, which takes up too much space on your Home Screen. Also when not being used it doesn't run on in the background, affecting performnace and using resources. Its just on or off.
How to use SLock.
Unzip and copy to your X1. Tap the file and your screen locks.
View attachment 142255,
Tap the screen anywhere, the unlock symbol appears, tap it and the screen unlocks.

Simple....SLock.
Any calls, texts or emails that come through to your phone with Slock on can be handled in the normal way, it does not interfere with any phone functions whatsoever, it simply locks the screen.
I have a shortcut to SLock on my Today screen, one tap I know my screen is locked, 2 taps and its unlocked.
SLock is provided as Freeware and is for personal use.

Also S2U Lock runs in the background when not being used affecting performance slightly.
How to use SLock.
1) After youve unzipped the download, copy anywhere on your X1.
2) If you have Pocket Plus 4, or other program launcher, just paste a link to SLock on your Home Screen for an easy, one tap lock.
3) When activated with a tap a locked symbol appears on your phone to confrim the screen is locked, then fades away to leave a black screen, to prevent screen burn and save battery resources.

If you have your X1 set to auto dim that will also kick on and completely turn the screen off as normal. Turn on again with quick press of power button as per normal.
To unlock simply tap the screen anywhere to bring up the unlock symbol, tap the unlock symbol, SLock ends quickly, your phone is ready to use.

There is only a powerpoint file in the zip file?
ET- Tap the file and your screen locks, tap the screen and tap the unlock symbol and the screen unlocks.
This is an example of how easy it is to customise SLock with your own background screen to make it your own.

You'll be tapping your screen on and off all day
Enjoy !
( I hope this passes the censors, iv seen worse on Strictly Come Dancin )
To celebrate the launch of SLock on the X1 the first 3 members to post pictures on this thread I will custmise SLock with there photo and post it back on this thread for them to use free of charge.

My native lock work just fine without enabling the today plugin, just hold red button(hang up) for a while and its lock ^^
GOF007 - Thanks for sharing, I didn't know this, that is useful. Its given me an idea of mapping SLock to a hardware button.
It is good to have a graphical lock screen ^^. The original one is very plain and cannot be customize.
SLock would do a great job if it highly customizable in term of layout and background, and work in place of native lock(on the holding red button).

Does double knock/tap on notification bar turn off screen using Nova Prime?

Hi,
I'm using Nova Prime and keep reading that it's possible to double knock the notification bar to turn off the screen without lock so the fingerprint sensor still works. But I have not been able to get my S7 Edge to screen off with this method, it just tried to open up the notification tray. I can use the double tap feature in Nova prime to screen off and lock, but then can't use the fingerprint sensor without first putting in a pin -- this is not what I want. I would be satisfied with knocking on the notification bar to do this, but can't make it work. Is there something I need to enable first?
There's one screen lock app that does what you want, but it uses sort of a kludgy method to do so.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.iglint.android.screenlockpro
Any app that actually turns off the screen will cause the behavior you've described. Screen Lock Pro, using the Marshmallow workaround in settings, applies a dark overlay to he screen, so it looks like it's off. But it doesn't really shut off until about 10 seconds later. Most of the time this is OK, but if you press the power button during that 10 seconds, intending to turn the phone back on, you've actually turned it off. And if you touch one of the soft keys, they'll light up.
Another option is built in. Settings / Accessibility / Dexterity and interaction / Assistant menu. This puts a blue spot on the screen to which you can assign various functions, including screen lock.

Thank you for the answer.
Acutally, I'm not looking to install Screen Lock Pro. I want to get the double tap on the notification bar working through Nova Prime which is supposed to turn off the screen without locking the phone. But for some reason that's not working on my S7 Edge. Any ideas why? Does anyone have this working on the S7 Edge or is that function not supported on the S7 Edge with Nova Prime?
I don't know if it's a Marshmallow issue, or an S7 issue, but any app which actually locks the screen will require a PIN unlock afterwards. There's no work-around that I've seen.
It´s not "tapping on the notification bar". It´s tapping anywhere on the screen (besides the notification bar). That´s how it is working for me with Nova to turn the screen off.
If you want double tap specifically the notification bar, you have to use an extra app like the one posted above or use this free app:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.phoenixstudios.aiogestures
Here are some comments I found regarding the "tap the notification bar" that turns off screen and still allows fingerprint unlock using Nova Launcher. Supposedly you do not need an extra app to do this since it is built into the function of Nova Launcher. Is this phone specific or why cannot get the double tap on notification bar to work on the S7 Edge. Does anyone have this working?
The double tap in Nova locks the screen and will require password, etc. to open. Fingerprint will not work. The same is true for all of the apps that allow double tapping to lock the phone. Something in the code for Marshmallow only allows locking and not just putting the screen to sleep. Double tapping the notification bar or hitting the lock button will work as it should with the fingerprint scanner working.
This is correct, using a gesture or anything other than double tapping the status bar or letting it timeout will not allow you to use the fingerprint sensor to unlock the phone. On my previous phones I'd use the screen off and lock app to be enabled by using the swipe down gesture to turn off the screen. Even using that app with the G5 won't let me unlock with the fingerprint sensor
Fix = Nova free knock on the notification bar at the top of the screen and fingerprint scanner will unlock the phone.
It works the same with the paid version [of Nova Launcher]. Knocking on the notification bar will turn the screen off and the fingerprint scanner will work to unlock.

Double tapping the notification bar to lock is a feature found on LG phones, and the user you quoted mentioned the LG G5.

Honor 5x - Shake your phone to organize apps on the home screen

Honor 5X doesn’t have an application drawer. That means every single app or game that’s installed on your device will be placed on the home screen. So, things can get real crowded, real quick but enabling a specific motion control can help tidy things up a bit.
Goto Settings > Motion control > Shake
when enabled, allows you to quickly rearranging your icons during the home screen editing mode. Just either 2-finger pinch on the home screen (or long press a blank area) and give the phone a good shake on the specific home screen you’d like to organize. Easy.
Even you can shake the mobile while getting bored so that apps gets aligned automatically.
I think people knows this feature, as its been long since the phone was released.

Second Screen Won't Stay on Music

The title pretty much sums up the issue... I am under the impression that when the main screen is off, and the second screen is on, you can do certain things like control music playback, which I do.
When I am in the car I have my phone connected to the car via bluetooth. My passengers ought to be able to use my phone's second screen to play, pause and skip tracks. But it seems that the default second screen (notifications, date, time and battery level) always shows. So swiping left or right is always needed to find the music controls. If music is already playing, should the music controls automatically become active on the second screen?
When I am in the office on my own I sometimes play music on my phone's speaker. Like in the car, when music is playing, should the music controls come to the front so I have access to them right away? I'm doing this today, and I've noticed that I have to swipe left or right to get to the music controls, but they do not stay. The default screen (notifications, date, time and battery level) takes over after approx. 5 seconds. This is frustrating!
Go into the second screen settings, long press "show second screen when phone is off", now from the list make sure music player is checked and drag it to the top so it's the first screen that is shown. You can do the same when the screen is on.
Edit: never mind it seems that the notification panel takes priority with the screen off.
I had the same annoyance with the v10, wish they would fix it.
It should function like it does when the screen is on, if you set the music player to the top when the screen turns on it immediately appears I wonder why they castrated the screen when off? I would think they would mirror the function of it while it is on.

Hi. I planned to post before you had made those edits, cos what you have described is different to what I see...
I'm using the V20 H990DS, and upon going into Settings > Second Screen, I have three options, "Show when main screen on", "Show when main screen off" and then "More". First two are enabled, but there's no difference between tapping them or long pressing. Can you confirm if a long press is necessary? When I go into "Show when main screen off" I do not get a list like you describe. Instead I get "Default screen" and "Quick Tools". And then a "Daily timeout". Ignoring the "Daily timeout" for now, going into "Default screen" gives only two options... "Date & time" or ""Signature".
Maybe I should do a system update... I'm running Android 7.0, Android security patch level is 1 Nov 2016, Kernel is 3.18.31, build no. is NRD90M, and Software version is V10b-TWN-XX. There IS an update available, however if anyone else reading this is on a newer version than this and still has the same "bug" I have regarding the second screen not staying on the music controls, what is the point for me?
Its not a bug. Its not supposed to stay on music. There is no option to keep it on music.
Well, that's why I put it in quotation marks. It's not a bug per se, but it is annoying we don't have the option to keep it on that screen.
You actually just have to tap the entry to get the list of options you can put on the second screen, tap "show when the main screen is on", the listing on the "show when the main screen is off" unfortunately is extremely limited.
I wish they'd update the options in the screen off screen to match the on options. The signature option is lame in my opinion and should be replaced with something more functional.

I agree with you 100%. The signature is not practical at all. It's the sort of feature you might find on a Nokia 3310.
