[Q] Odin vs ClockworkMod ROM Manager?

As my phone is one that doesn't boot into recovery mode by holding Volume Up + Home + Power, I've been wondering the usefulness of this mode as opposed to adb reboot recovery and using ClockworkMod ROM Manager which still works.
What do I gain or loose by not being able to use Volume Up + Home + Power and, by extension, Odin?
Is Odin going to become the less preferred method of installing ROMs/firmwares now that ClockworkMod works for the Galaxy S?

cant go into bootloader mode - i think its dead

hi guys
i know youll never disappoint me
i have zte blade
as it seems i was in gen1. i rooted the device installed all things and then i tried to flash the Cyanoggen 7.1.0 stable mode.. via CMW recovery by holding vol down (-) and power buttons. i enterd CWM rec.
the rom installed successfuly and then i wipe all data cache and dalvik.
i tried to loading up but nothing from this point there is no option to enter recovery again by vol down + power as before. no option to enter bootloader by holding vol up (+) power buttons. ( i tried even with home button too - doesnt work)
i cant find the combination for fastboot mode (bootloader) and the machine doesnt recognize the device anymore (drivers were installed)
so i cant use command line commands because no adb or fastboot is recognized by computer.
How can I stop the re-loop of the green screen with android pic when device is up... all modes like : vol up + power
and vol down + power
and vol up + home + power
and vol down + home + power... nothing works...
i have no any OS right now because i click format when i were into the CWM recovery the device is dead.. it is looping and looping... etc...
who can help me please??? how can I fix my phone and install the CM7 stable rom??? pleaseeeeeee
You're in the wrong forum here, it should be in 'blade general'
Take the battery out to stop it boot looping. When you put the battery back in you should be able to get back into clockworkmod by holding vol- & power on. Then you can restore your working backup or install a gen1 compatible rom (like ginger stir fry).
Then you can follow the Gen1 to Gen2 TPT upgrade guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1258855 & install CyanogenMod 7.
You could also copy the gen1 to gen2 tpt upgrade files using mount usb storage in clockworkmod, or by taking the sdcard out of your phone & using a microsd card reader.

Sent from my LG-P700 using xda app-developers app
Have you tried doing it through the manual method i.e., holding power +vol up + vol down +home button until the phone vibrates them leave the all together.
Sent from my GT-I9070 using xda premium
yes, same thing.
did you rooted and unlook the bootloader?
Some details ... ROM version, root, bootloader ...
I also cannot boot to recovery mode. Is there any other way? I cannot flash CM 10 because I can't go cwm
Please help. I am using the version v10k it is rooted. I have ROM Manager, I tried the ADB reboot recovery and the manual cwm volume + - home power. Please help.
Same problem
Have the same issue:
When i boot into recovery, either with volume + - home power buttons pressed or by using the "reboot into recovery" from rom manager i end up in a black screen with only the device keys lighten up. The only way to move further is to remove the battery from the device.
Have:
Recovery: CWM 6.0.2.8
Device: LG-P700
FW: android 4.0.3
Kernel: 3.0.8-perf
BN: IML74K
SW no: V10i
the official rom, rooted with the procedure in t he link bellow, supersu installed. cwm has been granted su access.
The recovery i installed first using the procedure from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486512 and had the black screen. THen upgraded / reinstalled using rom manager, and have again the same black screen.
Any help would be appreciated
Try to flash cwm again..

Have you installed BOOTLOADER? If you already have then you can do these steps:
1. Remove the battery and wait for a few seconds then put it back.
2. Press Volume Up + Volume Down + Home + Power Button
3. After the phone vibrates just release Power Button only.
4. Wait until CWM screen appears.
If it fails, repeat back from step 1 to 4.
Keep on trying. It works for me.

Hi and thank you for the answer.
I followed the steps from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486512 "INSTALLING CWM(CLOCKWORK MOD)" section and after rebooting to recovery i got to the recovery options screen. Flash_Bootloader.bat did the work, as you mentioned bootloader.
Thanks for your help!
I'm having the same problem as many guys here (don't know how many have been able to solve it), i.e. after trying to boot into clockworkmod recovery, the result is nothing but a black screen and button lights on. My goal has been to flash CyanogenMod 10 from recovery, yet without success. I've tried booting manually pressing the volume up +, volume -, home, and power buttons, and via both ROM Manager and adb, always ending up with the black screen.
I've also tried to flash CWM several times in ROM manager and in addition to that I've followed the instructions given here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2486512. (Entering the commands in Flash_Bootloader.bat and Flash_Recovery.bat files in terminal.)
I'm using rooted Lg Optimus L7, android 4.0.3, V10k, kernel 3.0.8-perf. CMW version is 6.0.2.8. Computer that I've used in the process is running Ubuntu 14.04 if that matters.
I appreciate any help!

Unfortunately, that does not make any difference. All I get is the flaming black screen.

This happened to me too...it often happened when I was too impatient to wait for the phone to shut down completely so I could enter recovery mode... If you still have a working OS just shut it down and wait for it to be off completely then hold both volume up and down + the home button then power button, when the LG logo appears then disappears release the power button and continue holding both volume up and down+ the home button till in recovery. If that doesn't work try removing the battery, plugin power source when holding both volume up and down buttons + home button (Crude method, but it worked for me).

Download: View attachment 3610068
NOTE: MultiTool for Honor6 and Honor7 merged into one HONOR MultiTool.
Honor6Plus support dropped.
If anyone want to manage and maintain script for Honor6Plus or any other similar Honor model please post.
About "HONOR MultiTool.exe" :
"HONOR MultiTool.exe" is just a shortcut to "MultiTool.bat" under "Files" folder.
Code:
%windir%system32cmd.exe /C start /B /D .Files .MultiTool.bat
Some antivirus may detect it as trojan but file is clean here is the virustotal scan.
What Multi-Tool does:
Unlock/Relock Bootloader.
Flash CWM/Stock Recovery.
Rooting (with Sideload).
Unbrick from bootloop.
NOTE: If relock bootloader failed after 3 buttons format, do a factory reset and try to relock again, that worked for me.
EMUI 3.1 WARNING! Update over rooted or system modded in EMUI 3.1 gives a BRICK.
You have to restore system and REMOVE root before every update in EMUI 3.1 for now.

Extract Huawei’s Official ROM zip on your PC to get “dload” folder with “UPDATE.app” inside.
Open “Huawei Update Extractor” and open “UPDATE.app”
Right click on “RECOVERY.img” and select “Extract Selected”.
Extract stock Recovery from OTA
Download OTA on your device but DONT install it.
Copy OTA.zip from "HWUOC" folder to your PC.
Unzip OTA.zip
Rename “UPDATE.app” to “UPDATE.zip” and unzip it.
Extract recovery from new “UPDATE.app” as above
Root
Unlock your Bootloader.
Download SuperSU and put it on your SD.
Download View attachment adb.zip, unzip it and put “RECOVERY.img” you extracted before in adb folder.
Boot in fastboot and flash CWM
open cmd.exe and type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery cwm.img
Boot in cwm and flash SuperSU.zip
Boot normal and activate "Enable Pro" and then "Survival mode" under SuperSU.
Boot again in fastboot and flash stock recovery
open cmd.exe and type:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
** If you keep CWM and you don’t reflash stock recovery you could not install any OTA.
Full Restoration to Stock ROM
1. Download latest Official Full ROM from EMUI's site (L02, L12), HuaweiUpdateExtractor and adb.
2. Unzip ROM and open UPDATE.APP with HuaweiUpdateExtractor.
3. Extract SYSTEM.img and RECOVERY.img (delete .header files that HuaweiUpdateExtractor generates you need only .img files) and put them in adb folder.
4. Boot in fastboot and conect to PC.
5. Open cmd.exe from adb folder and type (or copy-paste) the follow commands one by one:
Code:
fastboot devices
Code:
fastboot flash recovery RECOVERY.img
Code:
fastboot flash system SYSTEM.img
6. Put dload folder, you extracted before from Full ROM, with UPDATE.APP to root of your SD.
7. Detach USB cable from phone, turn it off and boot it up with holding all 3 buttons (POWER, VOLUM UP, VOLUME DOWN) untill you see EMUI installation Screen.
This is a full restoration method that means that will lost data, root etc.
You can skip steps 6 and 7 and do local update, instead of 3btns installation, after step 5 so you will not lose data. Related post.

I can add it if you provide me a B108SP01 link. Recovery should be the same with ROM.
Anyway B108SP01 can be rooted with root softwares.

3 button installation
i have got the L01 EMUI3.0 port installed on my L04 an now i try got get back to the EMUI2.3 so i will be able to install the EMUI3 beta.
i followed all instruction:
downloaded the 2.3 Rom from the mirror, flashed boot.img cust.img recovery.img and system.imf through fastboot and started the 3 button installation.
The 3 button installation runs until, iguess 99% and never ends.
can you assist me in finding the reason and a fix?

You don't have enough battery then maybe.
Anyway stuck at 99% is a known bug with USB plugged, but even that if you restart it by holding power button ROM is installed OK.

Hi,
Did you add TWRP in the actual dowloadable version of MultiTool ?
Can you tell me where this recovery can be found ?
Thanks,
Seb

Try to install L04's EMUI3.0beta or ask the guy who made that port if he knows anything.
