"Ghost" alerts

Hey all,
I've got a strange situation with my i-mate device.
I used to have an alarm, set to 23:00, on a daily basis. A couple of days ago I didn't need it anymore, so i've canceled it (The time was set to the original 06:00 and the checkbox was cleared). The strange thing is that it keeps alerting me every 23:00.
Have you any idea?
Thanks.
Do you have any other alarm softwares installed on your unit...that could be the cause...
Unless the device decided to take it out on you for breaking its sleep on a daily basis
Rgs/DD
Nope
No other program.
I'm clueless...
ghost alarms due to restore or update....
I kind of remember that after a upgrade process, or restore ( can't remember which) I had double up of alarms going for each set I had defined. Did you a restore or any such activity when this happened?
Hmmm,
Hi,
First of all, I do backup every other day.
Now, I did have a series of backup/restore events a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't restore since then. I too think my "Ghost alaem" got saved to my desktop, and it syncs back without appearing in the Alarms' screen.
Is there any way to edit the list of "floating" alarms?
Thanks...
Hi, i had somthing simular the other day and a few months ago. See the link below, theres 2 files to download that did the job for me, it was a simple case of the system not deleting it in registry.
Not sure exactly how these programs work, just backup your system first then apply them, one clears un needed reminders on each soft reset and one is manually started and clears the unrequired alarms.

Hope this helps
Oh
Thanks, Adam!
I saw a couple of clock.exe events, set to 23:00 (The "Ghost" time).
I guess it'll do the trick (It's 21:33) in here...
By the way... It's important to read http://www.scarybearsoftware.com/ppc_cn_overview.html before applying these applications.
Thanks again.

No sound with alarms

Hi all. This is strange. Yesterday, everything was working fine. Today, none of my alarms are sounding (that's neither 'tasks' nor 'appointments')
I've checked the obvious stuff like whether the sound file is corrupted or not (it works fine and I even changed the default sound to play for alarms)
Even the normal pop up window isn't showing either when an appontment or task is due.
Has anyone got any advice - this is going to be a BIG problem for me if I can't solve it as I've got a very very (very) poor short term memory and need the alarms to remind me to do even the mundane things in my life
I tried creating a few test/new entries and they don't display or sound either
Thanks
S

Try this (check notifications) and use it to delete any duplicate notifications you have in the queue. When the notification queue gets too long it stops working, and alarms depend on the notification queue. You can then use the clear notifications program to help stopping it happening again if you like.
Thanks..
Hi shuflie - thanks for the tip. It made no difference, so I'm guessing it must be something more serious!
The good news...I tried same resolution
The bad news...it did not work
So...I did a hard reset and that solved the problem!
Hard reset - sorted it!
HI All - Yep, I had to hard reset mine too! The good news - it's all working fine now...
The bad news - one of the 'cabs' that auto loads as part of the O2 set up, wouldn't install ('something.cab does not exist') resulting in me having to call O2 to manually set up email/mms/internet conections.
I also don't seem to have 'o2 active' anymore (but maybe that's a good thing
Seem to have oodles more storage space too...but everthing is working fine
Wonder what's missing???

Need help.. got problem with my alarm..

guys need help..
got one annoying problem bout my alarm... ive seem to disable all my alarms but the phone still recognizes my old settings.. how to explain this errr,,, well previously ive set the alarms at 6.00 am , 6.25 am and 6.30 am... after a short while the phone hangs so i soft reset it, then after that i've set the alarm to 7.00 am,7.25 and 7.30 am, (max 3 alarms can be set) but the prob is everyday the phone alarms set off at the 6++am time... even tho ive change them all to 7++AM and there is no way to disable them since only the 3, 7oclock alarms is avaible on the list...
so now i have a total of 6 alarms...
guys how to fix this without hard resetting,,,
TQ,
Do these 'phantom' alarms show up in your notifications queue?
You need something like Memmaid or Scarybear's Checknotifications to see these.
Look at the ones called calendar xxx or clock xxxx
Make sure from the descriptions that these are notifications you want to keep, if not delete them, also delete any duplicates.
DON'T delete any other notifications, these could be needed by the system to function correctly.
When I had similar alarm problems, I did this and found I had around 500 alarm/reminder notifications, some going way back, and some for May 2047!
When I got rid of these and the duplicates, it came down to around 40 and my alarms and reminders worked properly again.
Hope this works for you
ive downloaded Scarybear's Checknotifications but i do not know which to delete..zzz calender.exe or clock.exe?

I am more familiar with SKtools and Memmaid than Scarybear, but the ones to avoid deleting are any titled repllog. If Scarybear has a delete duplicates function then you should be safe to use that. Entries for alarms may have a title such as windows\clock.exe. In sktools I can click such entries and it tells me what alarm it is and when it's set to go off (not sure about Scarybear)
Good luck
Mike
PS Get a good Full backup programme like SPB Backup and then you would not need to worry about deleting the wrong thing.
When you first run the app, it marks all the duplicates in red, just press clear to get rid of those.
The ones to look at individually are the ones like:
Clock.exe - then scrolling to the right, these should have an entry under dialog title like "daily alarm" and then dialogue text like "Alarm: Wake up 10.30"
Make sure that all these are for alarms you want, delete the ones which aren't.
the others are:
Calendar.exe, in the dialogue title these say POOM xxxx and in the dialogue text, there is a description of the appointment you have set the reminders for.
You should be able to tell from these if any are in the past ie reminders you thought you had dismissed, or indeed from ridiculously in the future like 10 years time.
Delete the unwanted ones of these.
Also worth checking are Tasks.exe entries
Plus any other apps you have which can put alarms on the system eg some notes applications
Then use the exit button to exit checknotifications and see if this improves things.
The problem seems to arise (on my device) in 2 ways.
Firstly, in the past a reminder will have come up, and I think I dismissed it, or while I was dismissing it, something else happened on the system, incoming call, another alarm, crash, anything really, and somehow the dismiss instruction never seems to have 'taken'.
The other way is using Windows mobile live client. It seems to put notifications in every time you soft reset, so you can end up with a lot of WLM duplicates. It also seems to sync a whole load of old 'stuff' to the device, together with old notifications
If you find this helps, do consider getting Memmaid or SK Tools. I use Memmaid every day to clear junk out of my device. It's not free like checknotifications, but it does a whole lot more and has repaid the investment many times over (they do a free trial). SK Tools does even more, but is also I think easier to do something 'silly' on.
Also, the one thing I couldn't do without is a good backup program. I always take a series of backups. That way a hard reset needn't mean hours of re-installation. Usually about 20 minutes max.
all right..
I did as you said and i think it worked.
Thank you so much for helping.
No probs.
Remember, this isn't usually a 1 off problem. If it does fix things, keep an eye on that queue for a while and make sure things don't build up again.

default alarm clock not going off

i have set the alarms on my new incredible and tested them by setting them to go off while i'm watching, so i know it works. what i can't figure out is why the alarms don't go off in the morning. even hitting snooze (during testing) and then leaving the phone alone to go to sleep caused it too fail to go off again.
my speculation is that the alarms will only go off if the phone is already active, but this makes no sense to me. i read some threads of people asking about alarm clock apps and such for other model androids and everyone seemed to find their default alarms worked and were just looking for better functionality.
is anyone else experiencing this issue? if so, have you found any settings or whatever to correct it?
i am brand new to android (winmo before) so i could be missing the obvious. any help would be appreciated.
Mine works just fine, every weekday morning at 6:30am.
i did setup a special one last sunday for the first time and it worked great!
There is a setting to "play alarm even when the phone is in silent mode", "alarm volume", snooze duration(this is nice!), and slide button behaviour. 2x check those!
Yeah, it took me a little bit to figure this one out. If you're using a task killer you need to make sure to keep the "Clock" app running for the alarms to work.
I know a member over at ppcgeeks with the same problem. Clock wouldn't ring at set time. Long story short , advanced task killer was the problem . He uninstalled that app and the alarm clock rang the next morning.
if you have task killers make sure NOT to kill CLOCK app or it wont ring

Or just remove ATK, it seems to be a problem for people that don't understand memory management on the droids.
It was a huge problem on the moto droids on the other forums, and there's no reason to install it.
thanks for the feedback. this is almost certainly my problem.
i downloaded an alarm clock app that worked just fine even with my compulsive killing of tasks.
i'm brand new to android and have never used any other type of linux system, i have used winmo phones for a long time and couldn't have done with out a task manager.
i'v been reading some conflicting opinions on these boards about ATK use. some people think it is with out any real purpose and some complain that the built in task killer doesn't turn on till resources are low enough to cause performance issues. i can't really comment on this, as i don't know enough, but i can say that i have my 3g set to only turn on when needed and every damn app wants internet connectivity. so, if i don't kill the tasks running in the background the 3g won't turn off, and my poor, tiny battery will die.
or am i still making faulty assumptions?
you dont need to worry about that; android handles applications very differently than windows mobile and even without task killer your battery wont drain...

Alarm bugs

Hello, i've a little problem / bugs on alarm, ring doesn't work, device doesn't "wake up" at the morning.
Some one have the same problems ? and someone have solution ?
Have you changed the alarm sound to another one located in the sd card?
I have the alarm sounds in the sd card, and sometimes the alarm doesn't work, but I put it in /system/media/audio/alarms (being superuser) and everything is right for me rightnow.
I haven't change the original setting or file location...
Did you maybe forget to add "Clock" to your task killer's ignore list?
Probably this is the main cause, i try one or two times and after that i give a feed back;
Thx
Very good, a kill process software is the cause,... thx to all !
You know, the use of task killers on Android is very disputed anyways...
Google for: android task killers geekfor.me
Take a read if you think it could be worth your time. I'm coming from Windows Mobile and was used to task killers before, had a hard time giving them up. But after 3 weeks of testing, I can say that using no task killer on Android has no negative effects on either speed or battery. Just 'quit' them properly with the back key.
I had the same problem using the Vodafone 1.32 ROM - Alarm would not sound in the morning. No Task killer installed on my phone.
I've since upgraded to the 2.03 firmware (WWE) and touch wood so far its working ok.....
