TWRP recovery, HUAWEI stock recovery and HUAWEI updater are three different things!
-TWRP recovery (device shutdown, hold volume up + power):
For flashing your phone whit a nandroid backup (complete backup on your device, a clone!) Possible restore if ou get a hard brick. + More, more possibility...
-HUAWEI stock recovery (device shutdown, hold volume down + power OR hold volume down during the "device has been unlocked" screen):
Low recovery for geting official update EMUI, eventualy save a little brick and swipe data partition.
-HUAWEI updater (device shutdown, hold volume up + volume down + power for a long time):
Beffore, place the official update EMUI on your SD in folder called "dload". This trick have just one setting, flash your device whit your update on dload folder. You have a choice swipe data or not.
TWRP recovery is the only choice if you want to keep the root after restore your nandroid backup.
If you restore your phone to stock, you are unrooted, bootloader locked, ... Systeme partion restored!
If you swipe data, all your app, pictures, setting, account are deleted!

I knew the difference between TWRP and Huawei Stock Recovery, but I didn't know that after flashing TWRP the stock recovery still remains.
So if I get the official update from the stock recovery, does it restore the system partition to stock (locked BL) or does it just delete data?

If you update the new version of EMUI, dont need to clean your data, unlock BL or factory reset, just update on stock recovery or updater (not try OTA).
After the update done, your bootloader is automatically locked and your root is lost (update affect system partition only, its possible to keep your data partition)

If you want to, update via OTA. I did it while fully rooted and the update flashed through TWRP! After the update finished, I just rooted via TWRP and that was it.

[Q] Stuck at Google screen after upgrading Recovery

Many thanks in advance for any help...
What Happened:
I usually load recovery (TWRP) updates though Goo Manager or Toolkit. For the first time I used 'fastboot flash recovery xxxxx.img' method, and though it showed successful load, my phone is now stuck on Google logo boot screen.
What Do I Need:
Recover Internal Memory data from phone
What All Tried:
- Changed recovery to TWRP old version that I know was working fine
- Changed recovery to stock
- Changed recovery to CWM
- Nandroid restore of a perfectly working state
- Factory Reset (except internal memory - I need that data)
- Bootloader locked again (stupid move, I know)
Now the only hope left is to restore a complete stock state. Stock ROM, recovery et al. But I'll lose all data on phone.
My question is - Is there ANY way to copy the internal memory (/sdcard/) to computer? I can see all those folders in TWRP's File Manager, any way to mount it on PC to make a backup?
Please help....

[SOLVED] no r/w permissions or system mount after restoring backup after root.

Phone is the VS995 variant.
Did the dirtysanta root when it came out. Made a backup after I flashed the konverged kernel. Tried doing the DAC mod to enable high impedance always on. Audio quit working and stock music app wouldn't play music even after I reverted the files back. Did a restore of that backup. Tried using root explorer after the restore and now I cannot get my device to enable r/w permissions. I also cannot get my device to mount the system in recovery, only as read only.
Has anyone else had this issue or does anyone know of a fix for it?
I have tried reinstalling supersu in recovery and still have the issues. It is a minor problem but I am unable to flash any .zips as it will not mount /system.
Thanks in advance!
Fixed my problem.
Dinked around with a few ideas and got my problem fixed! Heres what I did.
1. Made a backup of system in twrp just in case.
2. Formatted system in wipe > advanced > and only checked system.
Panicked because I thought I bricked my device, wouldnt boot farther than the lg logo,
(next steps might be unnecessary but I panicked and tried them lol)
3. still had fastboot access so I repeated step 3 in the root method.
4. Reflashed boot2.img
5. Rebooted to recovery with volume- power, release power while keeping volume- at lg for a second then repress and hold power. Yes twice to get to recovery.
6. Restored system backup. (was able to fully boot now but with lag)
7. Reflashed konverged kernel.
And everything is working perfect now and I have my r/w ability and can mount system in recovery without having to select mount as read only.

Recover Stock [unroot] VNS-L31C432B160

I just rooted my P9 lite, installed TWRP from the SRK Guide in here and then saw that Snapchat checks for root.
So now i would like to unroot (doesnt work in SuperSU), install Snapchat, Root und save with TitaniumBackup.
How does the process of returning to stock work? Where do i get my .zip?
I understand that i need to download my full ROM [Firmware Finder APP] but how do i procees further? Do i need to have stock recovery for dload method?
The unroot option in SuperSU does not work? :/
Download the stock firmware from here: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p9lite/development/stock-firmware-links-t3468245
Extract the dload folder which has the UPDATE.APP inside, put the dload folder in your microSD card, power off the phone, hold power button + volume up + volume down and wait until the installation will start.
This will relock your bootloader and restore the phone to stock firmware.
Does it matter that i have a ****ty twrp installed which doesnt even recognize data partition?
And can i unlock bootloader and root the samw way as before?
Thanks in advance
Wims
You can unlock and root as you already did. Which TWRP are you using?

I had a ****ty one from the Guide with the srktoolkit. Now i updated to TWRP v4 by METICULUS. It works and i can finally see /data/media again.
Does the Phone Off then 3 Button trick go through the Recovery or through what exactly?
I would now do the thing above, then unlock my Bootloader again (i still have the key so it should be easy), install the TWRP by METICULUS, install my apps i need to install without root (Snapchat) , then reboot to twrp and flash newest supersu from chainfire. Finished. Am i right?
Btw i have to say that i was pretty much a flashaholic with tht Galaxy S3, Moto G and OnePlus 2 and it was never this tricky i think :'D
Well TRWP still doesnt get /data. I didn't encrypt anything but Twrp keeps telling me that it cant find it. And when i (select storage) (internal storage) it goes to /emmc...
At first the log says:
Failed to mount '/data' (mounted without encryption)
And the Screenshots were saved to /data/media/Pictures/Scrennshots insted of somwhere in the internal storage...
I fear of having my partitions mixed up somehow because when stock recovery couldn finish wiping cache and data too...
Probably TWRP can't mount encrypted Huawei data partition, the only thing it can probably do is to format it so basically a hard reset

So -> TWRP -> Format /data?
EDIT: I tried format data -> yes -> and even there it said can't find /data partition.
Any ideas what i can do?? Everything works but i can't do anything in all the TWRPs...

Bootloop issue after OTA install on rooted phone

Hi Guys, I have rooted Moto G+ plus phone (XT1686) with ROM "[ROM][7.0][Stock] Debloated and Deodexed latest Build by sandy108" installed. Today I installed OTA update "New OTA RETIN (Indian) channel [August Security Patch] [NPN25.137.67-5]". After reboot my phone is stuck at TWRP recovery mode. I have taken "Data" partition backup in TWRP after this issue. Is there any way to get my phone working without losing "data" ? Have tried re-flashing the deloated ROM as stated above.
When you reboot and it brings you back to recovery tell it to reboot back to the bootloader, then manually select to start your phone. It should work
Just wipe caches in TWRP and reboot... the update and the script to update are held in cache, once it's gone it will boot fine.

I have tried wiping everything in TWRP and installed other ROMs and updated TWRP but this situation still persists.
Simply boot from recovery into bootloader and press start
This should start the phone normally.
If you have lost the signal restore efs folder from TWRP
Boot into TWRP, then connect your phone to your PC and in ADB type the following command:
Code:
adb shell dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/block/platform/soc/7824900.sdhci/by-name/misc

Moto E3 Power Stuck on a Boot Screen
If you accept that you do it at your own risk, you can try
First please a make full backup to SD card before you starting.
1 st method
Go to TWRP & try to install Open gapps or Full Dynamic GApps zip package & reboot
2 nd method
First, make a full backup of all data that you have in your phone using TWRP.
In the second step, upload the stock firmware ( using SP Flash Tool ) and run phone until see welcome screen with the language choice.
Now using fastboot - make: oem unlock, flashing unlock, flash recovery twrp.img & format user data.
After then run TWRP and make a copy of current system ( data, boot & system )
Restore the copy from the SD card without wiping the system base.
