Wallpaper dark overlay - Huawei P9 Lite Questions & Answers

Hi guys.
I'm not sure if anyone noticed this, but whenever I set a wallpaper, it gets dimmed as if some kind of an overlay or a filter is applied to it. From what I read on Google, it is a common thing for Huawei.
However, nobody seems to have a solution. Does anyone here know something. It really drives me crazy since I can't set a white or light wallpaper.
Thanks a bunch.

No, BUT! I know it starts just after boot-up, so it has to be a small app or a process. Since I'm not rooted, can't do anything about it. Are you rooted?

Nah, it's just so icons are more visible, which is retarded, I can't put a light wallpaper, ridiculous.

A program called : SB WALLPAPER CHANGER fixes it but in alarm and dial app it messes up the background blur ... Try it and give me a reply . I haven't used it in 2 months , maybe they have fixed it !

It messes the background blur when you are in a call or when you are setting an alarm . See the image . In settings app go into portrait - fix image ( no scroll ) and in the bottom go and select your image . and then go back and set it as a wallpaper from the app .

Not sure if this is the answer but...
I close all apps runnig on background and the dim wallpaper went back to normal inmediatly. Maybe is a battery saving action when to many apps are running at the same time.
Hope it helps!

Nexus One Clock Display

Okay, so I've noticed that on both my lock screen and Clock app, that my alarm clocks don't show up as the Human Readable time format. For example, I have an alarm set for 6am tomororow (1/12/2010), and when the lock screen is showing it has the alarmclock icon and show "1263294000000" next to it, which is the epoch time for 1/12/2010 6:00:00 am. It also does this in the clock app on the app's home screen, but if I go into the alarms screen it shows up fine.
Anyone else experiencing this?
Weird. Mine shows up in a normal time. I've tried looking through the clock app, and system settings and couldn't find a way to replicate your issue.
Since yours is rooted it may have something to do with what youve flashed to it so far.
Or maybe not cause im rooted with cyan and just tried and it appeared fine

Lol. Yah. I've got a few friends around here that have basically the same setup. Not really an issue, more a nuisance. But I seriously don't get it. I'll probably try and reset later today and recreate it. I was just curious if any one else noticed this.
Strange.
I have another question for the clock app:
Is there a way to turn off the charging light and the backlight on the capacitive buttons when in the dimmed clock app mode? The screen is actually quite nice and readable in the dark but the bright lights next to it are annoying / wash the screen out some.
Maybe it's something in Locale settings? That's where I'd look.

Trust me, I went through just about every possible 'setting' i could possibly think of. I'm assuming it has something to do with a program i have installed. I haven't had the time to do a reset yet, but plan on giving it a shot later.
Here's what I know though, its not normal, and its not because of root. Seems no one else is having this issue. lol, WTF.

Try holding down on the icons and moving them. If you can, remove them from the screen and re add them. If not, try disabling any xposed modules (if you have any that could effect the home screen) and look at it again. I don't personally use the touchwiz launcher and this never happened to me, so these are just guesses. Also, I noticed you have a strange colored Google app in your bottom bar. Did you do anything to the icon, and if so did you possibly break other icons while doing it?

I did factory reset my phone and still see these , is there any software to fix that or this is a hardware issue .
is this called a burn-in issue or it is called some thing else .
thanks for replying .
Are those applications actually there software wise? If not, then it would be a burn-in, where the screen has the images "burned in" and can't be removed. If they are there you could try flashing a stock tar using Odin for whatever build you want.

yes , they are software wise and if you look very good in the pic you can notice the whatsapp shadow on the screen , also I had flashed the stock.tar odin rom many times and they are still there , if this case is a burn-in issue what software would you suggest to fix because I tried all the softwares on the playstore and they didn't help .
thanks

The only other thing I can suggest is to take your phone to Verizon and see what they can do. They might have to replace it.
having same issue in MotoG3
I got this phone(MotoG3) 15 days back, it worked fine for a few days and suddenly I noticed that a "Whats app Shadow" is coming on my home-screen, it was hardly noticeable at first but then it became darker and darker, I replaced the phone thinking it might be a software issue, and got the same handset today itself, it worked fine but again as I installed whats app the same shadow problem appeared, I uninstalled it and it started to work properly. Am not sure where is the problem, so please help me out.
About the shadow issue:
The home screen of whats app appears in my wallpaper and also above all the other apps, a transparent shadow kinda thingy, I hope you people got what am trying to say.
Thank You
I also have the same issue on my redmi note 8 but in my phone i doesn't shows the shadow of the icon but but the shadow off appa inside when I use anh app
I have the same issue on my Pixel; the shadow apps aren't directly on my home screen, but when apps are opened. Perhaps due to Google system.

Please Help! This is driving me nuts! Contacts and Phone colors changed on me

Ok,
This is driving me nuts. Overnight my contacts and phone colors changed by themselves. The colored tiles for each contact etc changed and they are very light colored. Almost screwed up looking. I could not find any settings to fix this. In an attempt to fix it, I updated my Essential Phone to 9.0 via OTA and the weird colors followed the update and are still there.
I tried enabling developer mode and manually putting the phone into the "dark" theme, and that still doesn't seem to fix it. What happened? Has anyone had this happen?
I can't find anything about it on google, but it looks terrible and its driving me crazy.
Attached screenshots.
material2 update, get used to it i guess, every google app and lots of mainstream 3rd party going that route

Haha
I have the same issue - it looks like a Google update (without asking for a permission), but I did not find any fix for it so far
The only way how to get rid of those strange colors seems to be to add a picture to the contact, but do you want to do it for ALL contacts...?
Could you, please let me know if/when you will find a better solution?
Thanks,
Maros

Google ask permission, lol they are updating material design. They can and do change things you know.
Turns out they can enable this server side these days, so you could have installed the requisite update a week ago.
Use substratum
There is this https://www.androidpolice.com/2018/08/27/google-teases-dark-mode-phone-app-play-store-update-notes/ but who knows when it will be available and what it will look like with the dark mode applied.
Am I the only one who likes those new colors better ?

Android 10 black bar issue

I updated to the new Android 10 and it's really good so far with the new animations and quirks here and there . But for some annoying reason Samsung decided to add this white/black bar underneath the keyboard and it's really uncomfortable and takes so much screen estate . Tried uninstalling and reinstalling Gboard but it's still there and there's no option to disable it . Any ideas on how to get rid of it ?
I think you can find it somewhere inside the Display > Navigation Bar > and the one that has something to do with they keyboard option (I'm sorry I don't have my phone with me right now)
Thats strange. I dont have that black bar under keyboard

Do you have the option for having hide button on keyboard or something like that? It's a toggle under the options for gestures.

About wallpapers

Hi there,
I'm currently using a live wallpaper and I just realized this my phone changed the wallpaper I'm using two times today. Is anyone getting this problem? I don't think it's a bug but maybe it can be caused by battery saving option. Because it's changing to the steady version of official wallpaper. Also I made a search before opening this post but if was opened before you can link me to that thread and close this post ^^
Thanks for your suggestions already.

Oh baby, I know exactly what's going on! I had the same problem and was able to fix it!
Long press home screen --> wallpapers --> shot on OnePlus --> click the gear in the top right --> uncheck both "Daily Lock Screen Wallpaper" and "Daily Home Screen Wallpaper"
You're welcome!

Hey there,
Thank you for your quick response though it's not the problem. I immediately opened the path you described and both of those were unchecked. I'll be playing with my phone to see if it's changing wallpaper because of the low battery (under %15) or not then I'll update this post ^^
Also here's a clip of the path and those marks.

Darn, sorry! Took me quite a while to figure out why that kept happening on my phone. Daily wallpapers is on by default, very annoying. I use Muzei and haven't had an issue with the device changing wallpapers on me since unchecking those boxes.
I had this issue with certain live wallpapers. some wallpapers tend to drain battery (at least in my case), i was able to fix by going to battery optimization and unchecking the live wallpapers i use to not optimized. Hopefully that will fix it. If that's the issue.
