THREAD CLOSED

I have been monitoring the temps on mine with CPU-Z and all seems well. So I am going to keep mine. I would hate to get one that doesnt perform as well as this one.

So I figured out the fix for this issue but they are only upgrading 5 markets to test the system, mine just so happens to be one of them... But seems like nobody was interested anyways. peace.

[Q] sprint or rom

ok so i have a weird problem.. i go to call people and it appears that the number is right for the person i try to call....but i get connected to random people... sometimes when i answer the phone i get nothing but silence. happens to my wife to. don't know if this is a sprint problem or rom. im on stock cm9 alpha 5. when i went to the sprint store and asked them the guy said something about solar flares and the way the planets are aligned.. idk anyone else having this issue or knows how to fix it.. any help is appreciated. and sorry i just quickly checked other forums and didn't find anything
Is your wife's phone also on CM9 Alpha 5? Are you using an Airave at home? If so reset it. If not, does this only happen at home or in the area? If you are both on the same ROM then take one phone back to stock and try it for a couple of days and see if that fixes the problem. Then you know it might have been a bad download resulting in a bad flash.
my wife has a samsung nexus s running "vhgomez36-ICS-NXS-4G-4.0.4 [LOTA r1]" but i will try resetting the airave to see if that helps...sorry for the double post i didn't think it posted in the q&a section

Haha, that explains it. It's ok. It will definitely be the Airave. This never happens outside your house right?

Nvidia pulled all factory images down

I noticed about 3 weeks ago that Nvidia pulled all of the ST factory images from their website. I called and spoke with their tier 2 support several times but they had no idea they were pulled down because they asked me to flash one of them. I trust the rep I spoke with because we've spoken many times regarding issues with the tablet and TV and he's always been honest. It's a little odd that the images got pulled but I suspect it's for one of two reasons which I'll list below.
1. It might have to do with users downgrading back to earlier versions to get quick charge which is a bad idea with the battery issue. Its strange to me because everything else is there for the TV and portable but nothing for the tablet besides the USB drivers.
2. I also think they might have pulled the files so users can't downgrade to avoid the permanent brick Nvidia sends out to the old tablets once the RMA for the battery issue has been received.
I also sent this in as a tip to Android Police to see if they could get more information from Nvidia regarding this. It's unfortunate because I always like downloading the images just in case which makes me happy I have a few of them but I wish I was able to keep a backup of each one like I normally do. I'm wondering if they will appear back and if they do will they have the forced OTA in the code along with QC 2.0 getting disabled.
If anyone knows/has a email from Nvidia about this feel free to post it below.
Mods: I search the forum and didn't see a specific OP for this issue so I'm making one here. If there is another one please let me know so this can be merged with it. Thank you in advance
I would vote for 2, I had the idea of downgrading to avoid brick and disabling quick charge myself. Seems they thought of it too.

It could be a combination of the two but fit now it's anyone's guess

Rooted PG5

So I have seen a few people saying they are rooted on PG5. Can those of you that have done it please post how it has worked out for you? Thanks.
MOD EDIT:
Questions belong in the Help section, not How-To. I've moved your thread there.

I'm on PG5. I rooted about 10 days ago. After applying all the fixes, it is working ok. Fighting 2 issues. (1). Still getting update notifications every day. (2). Seems like I lost my wireless fast charging capability. I'm going to make some changes tonight and see if that fixes anything. I've learned a lot more about the phone, had some fun rooting it, but haven't really gained much if anything.

You need to disable system updates with package disabler pro or something like that and the updates should stop
I can't recall if I was on PH1 or PG5 when I rooted. I got lucky found a cosmetically damaged SM-G930V early Sept and remember seeing the update requesting install when I met the seller. I did update then root im just not sure to what lol. I used the G930x_QC_Rooted_BOOT.TAR and after pushing SU with ADB she needed very little optimization ie: BusyBox, TricksterMOD, BuildProp & TiB in that order. I had a few obvious issues at 1st but the phone seemed to get quicker & cooler the more i used it overall. The biggest problem I've had so far is getting the adoptable storage feature to stick. Which has nothing to do with root so moving on. All and all I'd have to give the experience 2 thumbs up. Also if you screw up one of your protected partitions like i did you can always use the Verizon Update/Repair Assitant to save your phone. Provided youve registered that phone with Verizon prior to ahem, "messing up" The tool doesnt seem to have a download link its suppose to PuP when you conect phone If it doesnt they have link to the Samsung site where you can DL. Ive since switched to one of the debloated custom ROMs and I guess I never really knew what fast really was because there was this moment when i opened up the recents and i had like 40+ pages open. Scrolling was so beautifully liquid smooth and crystal clear and lightning fast I got a lump in my throat fellas. SHE doesnt slow down! I gotta drink a redbull just to get on my phone!

Galaxy Tab A 8.0 4G SM-T387T -- root/TWRP, compatible?

So I've searched around XDA, Reddit and the rest of the net trying to find any root method for this tablet. I just got this tablet for free as a deal with T-Mobile.
I see a lot of guides on XDA for older Tab A's, and also for what appears to be the WiFi variant of mine (a lot of 380 and 385), but nothing for T387. I've blindly rooted stuff and made mistakes in the past ambitiously trying to find root on older devices and have ended up in soft bricks and (even a hard brick on LG devices) in the past, and I'm not looking to make that mistake again. I do know that Samsung's variants have kind of homogenized a bit more the past few years also.
Will these root/TWRP guides for the 380/385 also work for my 4G variant of this tablet, or am I going to have to hope and wait someone makes something a bit more specific?
Just wanted to inquire.
Hey, I'm actually looking for the same info! Subscribed and am hoping to hear back.

Have you found anything?
Nope. I haven't. I opened a thread on reddit as well. I actually used the title of this post since it was perfectly worded and anyone searching the web will find both in the results. I hope speedanderson doesn't mind
Of course not!
Sorry, I forgot about this post and checking back I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who wants an answer to this.
I'm going to see if I can find your Reddit thread also just to keep tabs.
Edit: found it immediately. Sad to see nobody answered there I did give it silver in hopes it might make someone notice it
did you unlock the oem?
I am still unable to unlock it!
combination
flashed combination
oem unlock
trying to flash magisk
anyone tried twrp?
Thanks man. I responded there but I think this is the same issue I have e with my 950u and snapdragon processor. Outta luck for the time being!

Can you tell me from where you got the combination file for this.
My problem now is that qualcomm secureboot is enabled and cant flash twrp.
Anyone can give a hint on bypassing the secure boot?
any luck?
Has there been any luck in rooting the SM-T387T?
Well, if this thread ever produces success be sure and let me know. I have the same combination files y'all have I'm sure.
Bump... surely someone has been able to root these devices by now.
Sent from my SM-T385 using Tapatalk
I'm going to assume adb would be our friend here.
To elaborate, connect to adb with the tablet on and pull the kernel to Downloads. Use magisk to patch that Img and then try to push it back.
I'm joining you guys
In for +1 as well...
I have a Verizon T-387 would love to get Lineage or stock android on there.
Maybe we need to start a donation ring to attract developers.
Or feed this thread to show how amazing people we are
Btw I'm quite impressed by the tab A 2018 (our version), my nexus 7 died 2 month ago and I got the galaxy for "free"with a data plan. I chose it instead of a Huawei Mediapad T5 thinking that they would be equally slow with their 2 Gb of ram... But the Tab A is very fast and handle everything I throw to it very well and timely imho (YouTube, browsing, very light multitasking).
I don't know how the T5 would have behave but I'm glad that I chose the smaller 8' tab vs the 10" T5.
Nice thread
Hi all I'm looking for a root for this new galaxy t387t tablet. But I haven't seen anything yet except for this thread. Has anyone made any progress and rooted this device yet? Thanks in advance for any replies.
Stumbled across this thread. I've bought one on OfferUp that is google locked. Are the steps to bypass the same as for the T387 the same as for the t580 or t380?
