Help PLEASE! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 Q&A, Help & Troubleshootin

Hello,
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 with 4G (used) and was everything working perfectly. However, to be used, restored factory settings to start used the S4. With that, my SIM card (however recognize other carriers) and did not recognize it, I tried to make the unlock / change firmware / ...
When trying to install a ROM of Brazil, Odin error, coincidentally checked on the mobile screen that had written SGH-I337, logo is a US S4, with I9500XXUGNG3 firmware (4.4.2 Russian). With that, I thought the ROM was blocking my SIN, it tried to install an original ROM that SGH-I337 model and upgrading to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop ... ROM came full of AT & T apps, and left me quite disappointed.
In short, I am with a horrible ROM and without using my SIM card (I'm thinking it's physical problem).
Can anyone help me restore / install a factory ROM, if possible, Lollipop? I'm trying to do one week and could not.
Already, thanks!
Sorry for the English, I'm using a translator.

I had already reported it, but has to take this question .
It is a SGH- I337 . So I can only install roms the i337 AT & T ? Is there any clean rom ?
I already concludes the problem of my SIN card, is that the device 4g band is different from 4g Brazil , therefore, it does not recognize . But he recognizes the other SIN Card 3g Brazil . Will I have to buy a SIN Card 3g or if there is a possibility to change the band that s4 find my SIN card would be even better.
Remembering my S4 had a rom i9500

Before flashing anything else, install the Samsung phone info app to confirm the bootloader version in the phone.
If the bootloader is 4.3 or newer, the bootloader is locked and you cannot install twrp or cwm. You can install safestrap and flash custom Roms based on stock Samsung Roms.

a question, i337 = i9505 ?

Nope, i337 and 9505 are slightly different as they support different frequencies and the bootloader on the 337 is locked.

The cool thing is that the i337 was this I9500XXUGNG3 firmware that had the ability to use Portuguese Brazil , I would like to return to this firmware. How I do? I tried by Odin but always of it :
<ID : 0/011 > sboot.bin
<ID : 0/011 > NAND Write Start!
<ID : 0/011 > FAIL !
do you have any idea?

The bootloader is locked so you can't install 9505 firmware on the i337.

which leaves me with great doubt is that it was with this I9500XXUGNG3 firmware stating it was a i9500 .
with this I tried to install android 5.0 thinking that manages to come unlock my SIM CARD and still not resolved . I think a matter of size or shape of the SIM card , seila . I have a lot of headache to solve this.

Do you flashed back to stock i337 firmware and it won't accept your SIM card unless you enter a network unlock code?

I am currently using with another SIM CARD and runs regular without typing unlock code and whatever be 4.4.x as 5.0.
However the rom one that I managed to install this was " http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2674223 " with root.
So I would like to set up a Stock ROM that was clean , without anything of AT & T , which before I had with I9500XXUGNG3 firmware (including Portuguese Brazil )

Did you put a pin on your sim? Did you enter the sim code too many times and the phone locked the sim?

no ...
Forget History sim card hahaha xD
Can you help me one installing a rom for this i337 without the AT & T ? Preferably a clean like that had previously , as i9500 .

The bootloader is locked on the i337 so you only flash ROMs using safestrap.
If you want to remove ATT apps, you'll have to root and use root explorer to delete them. You could also try Titanium Backup to remove apps.

SIM Unlock I9195 Samsung galaxy S4 Mini

Hello guys, thanks to Chainfire, who made the tool RegionLock Away, you can SIM unlock your Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini I9195 with it. I did it just now, my phone was locked on TIM form Italy and I'm now using it on BASE in Belgium, before it said it could not register on the network. First I rooted it with S4Mini RootKit v1.
hi
does the phone remain "unlocked" if you flash other stock rom? (i.e some debranded version)
or you need to stay rooted?
can confirm,
works fine.
to unlock you must be on a stock rom.
flashed than back my nandroid backup cm11 and stayed unlocked
thx to Chainfire :good:

maybe you don't think so, but when i inserted a t-mobile sim, then i should enter a code.
so took back my vodafone sim, ran the app and re-inserted the t-mobile sim.

I did it folowing your procedure and still the sam a message network lock?
1- You must have a stock and original rom (odexed and flashed with odin) not a custom rom !
2- Root you phone (see arco OP) and install "RegionLock Away" from chainfire, open it and follow instruction and reboot.
(Don't put any sim card at this step)
3- Now Shutdown your phone and put any sim card you want and reboot. That's all !
You can flash any custom rom after this procedure. You will always have your sim unlocked.

Network SIM lock after flashing Official 4.4.2 Rom

Morning all,
I've installed the mexican 4.4.2 Official Kitkat build version on my Note 3 n900w8. After the install (it went flawless) I noticed I've now got a mexican boot screen (no biggie) but I'm now getting a network lock on my sim card, like the lock settings are tied to the firmware and not the modem??
I may just restore back to 4.3 from the Rogers build (I like official builds) but I'm looking for ideas on WHY this happened, also ways to avoid it.I'd love to run 4.4.2 properly without needing a SIM Unlock.
Having said that, are their any non-code unlocks for this? Or is it all code-based unlocking on this model??
Thanks All.

If you check out polish_pat's thread, it'll guide you through the flash process. What I think you have done is substituted the Mexican CSC in place of your own and locked it (I could be wrong) . --- you need to use the Rogers one, check his thread out it has the links etc in it also
Thanks a bunch! this worked perfect. I swear I searched the forum before I posted, and didn't see Polish_Pat's thread

You have an i337. It's simple as that. You have probably a rom installed that's based on a i9500 rom. So nothing to worry, you just need to look in the i337 section.

once you are sure (check also what FW version you have) you can flash I9500 cwm with odin.
Odin has nothing to do with what is already installed. (expected your drivers are well installed). CWM can be pushed in.
If download mode says that you have an i337 then you have an i337.

It seems you have a true I337 because of the bootloader infos but all the rest is messed up with tricks done by former owners.
So you must reflash a stock I337 fw to refresh everything. get it from sammobile site.

hi same problem
hi i have same poblem here and i can't use download mode to instal lolipop official or any ohter rom any solution u get there
As mentioned upthread, if the model number posted in Download Mode is SGH-I337, you have an AT&T Galaxy S4. Because of this, you will want to look in the AT&T Galaxy S4 forums for ROMs regarding your device. Unless you have no other alternative, I do not recommend installing AT&T firmware on the phone. If you do install AT&T firmware, it will work, but it will also update the bootloader to a version that disallows rooting and custom ROMs.
Ideally, you want to get your money back from whomever sold you the phone. Frankenphones are nothing but trouble.

[Q] convert SGH-i337 (AT&T) to GT-i9500 (octa) ?! see more here

hi
i just bought an galaxy s4 gt-i9500 from a freind (thats what i guess ) but surprised for what i found out

my i9500 has :
Chipset : Qualcomm APQ8064T Snapdragon 600
CPU : Quad-core 1.9 GHz Krait 300
GPU :Adreno 320
and also 4G network support
and in bootlogo there's no i9500 apprear just samsung galaxy S4

this is not i9500 octa-core but its SGH-i337 for AT&T with firmware of i9500
AP :i9500XXUEMJ9
CP :i9500XXUEMJ9
CSC:i9500XXUEMJ9

You have a Frankenstein phone. Since you got it from your friend, my normal advice of returning it isn't likely to be of use. So, installing an I337 ROM isn't an issue, but you need to keep in mind the following.
The bootloader on AT&T is locked, with no way to unlock it. You'll need to go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att for tutorials and guides on rooting and installing SafeStrap recovery.
Any SIM unlock present on the phone, unless done through the carrier or via an unlock service that provides actual codes, may reset itself when the I337 ROM is installed.
The IMEI could possibly be wiped, though this is unlikely. Back up the IMEI using Wanam's EFS Backup before doing anything at all.

If you install a stock ROM via Odin, the bootloader will be changed, but as long as it's not an AT&T or Verizon ROM you won't suffer any ill effects. If you install an AT&T ROM there's no going back. Unlike every other country on the planet, here in the US AT&T and Verizon encrypt the device's bootloader, because they don't want you rooting the device and bypassing their bloatware and their restrictions. So, since you happen to be in a position where you have an AT&T S4 that doesn't have a locked bootloader, you want to install a custom ROM.
If you have ignored my advice and installed a stock AT&T ROM, you'll need to head over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-att and use the information there to root. Honestly, now that you know your S4 is an AT&T model, you should head over there anyway.

I tried warning you but you plowed ahead anyway. The stock ROM you put on the phone is basically untouchable, because of the locked bootloader, so you now have two options: use the phone as is, or use the information in the AT&T S4 forums to install SafeStrap recovery and from there flash a custom ROM.

No, because it won't work. I tried flashing an AT&T modem to my I9505 when trying to add LTE frequencies to my device. The phone rejected the modem, but it didn't harm my I9505 either.

But previously i am running baseband of 9505 on i337
It could be because I didn't use Odin when trying to flash in that instance. Under ordinary circumstances you shouldn't be able to flash I9505 firmware on an I337. Regardless, you can try to flash the I9505 modem using Odin, but the results at best will be unpredictable. It certainly won't change the LTE bands on the phone as those can apparently only be changed with tools we don't have.
