Verizon Network Speed Upgraded in NYC - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S7 Questions & Answers

Just before yesterday's update I was getting speeds around 75/15. In NYC there is a lot of congestion , speeds normally went up to 25/15. After upgrading ( and finally getting FM radio on the Galaxy) the speeds were around 85/15. Anyone else notice a speed change?

Good download speed but NICE upload speed!

yeah its the new lte-a they deployed. I still get less than 2mbs down and 0.5mbps up at home, but at work a town over im now getting almost 80 down and 10 up when it used to be like 25. so that's cool.

Tmobile 3G Speeds, Really Good Speeds! :)

So this is how fast 3G is around my Area: Take a look: Anyone get comparable speeds with 3G?
Here in Boston MA we still get crap speeds. Highest I get are 800-900 if I am lucky.

Damn, 4mbs, wow im impressed, those are some really good speeds
Maybe I should move to NY haha
I Live in Nj, ill definately be testing out my speeds whenever i get a chance to go to NY!
York, PA 30kbps on edge. I was getting 175kbps on at&t before I switched to tmobile. what is wrong with this picture. can porting your number slow down data speeds? just did another test 16kbps. it's been like this since I switched. when I first got my sim I tested it at 79kbps max. now this is what I get. could this be an ongoing network issue in my area or am I just getting screwed?
I barely get 700-800 in Chicago.. darn it.
My Tmobile 3G is very spotty and even in good areas I have never gotten more that 1Mbps.
I get 1.9 mbps down on my last test on 3g here Bellevue, WA (Seattle).
My 3G is always locked here in Vegas and I get around 800-900.
i must add that thats not typical.. i've had it happen in a few places.. but its not everywhere.. i usually see what everyone else does .. around 1mb/s up / down.. im actually curious what happens if we get another OTA update with the new radio.. as im not rooted yet
my Everyday speeds are around 1500-2300Kbps
Top speed 600kbps on HDSPA :c
i'm in new york city and i'm only getting 800 kbps
951 kb/s in San Diego, CA.
lol i get 500kpbs download in south florida... and 300 to 400 upload
sad panda lol
I live about 5 miles for the corporate offices in Bothell, WA... I get great speeds... (not to mention I used to work for them as well... lol)
i get like 900kbps in Sacramento, CA and at work i get like 300 download

tmo US 3g data speeds

so im using a HD2, with the energy rom and tmo just announced that they are rolling out hspa+ in my city (honolulu) so i figured id do a speed test now just to see the difference when they "flip the switches" on 7/21 (my birthday)
so i pull up dsl reports and run the Iphone (bleh)/smartphone speed test choose 3g and........ 126kbps well maybe its a fluke i rerun it and 51kbps WTF!?!?!?!!?!
so i remember mobilespeedtest.com and i try there and..... 134kbps.....starting to get annoyed and when i compare with other tmo subscribers the average is 580~
so my question is is there something i can do to "fix" my speeds? ive got full signal im always showing "H" oh and im using opera 10.0
In Lexington, Ky I get about 400 kbps. In Cincinnati, like 800-900. I just think Tmob's network is really crappy.
hahaha well your crappy is still 4 times faster than me
just odd its SO slow here where hspa+ is going live in a week
before TMO threw the HSPA+ switch here in Tampa, i regularly saw 600-800kbps download speeds. Now with HSPA+ it seems to average about 3mbps-4mbps and Ive seen it reach as high as 5.5mbps.
I just got through with a road trip from Tampa to northern Mississippi where i lost the HSPA+ coverage after leaving Tampa, i saw around a 1mbps in outskirt areas north of Tampa that doesn't have HSPA+ yet, and once we hit the interstate it was GPRS coverage for a majority of the trip with some EDGE coverage here and there. God i forgot how slow GPRS was!
oh i also forgot to mention im using the stock radio rom.....maybe a different radio would improve data speeds?

My birthday's on the 21st as well, you know what this calls for....SURPRISE BIRTHDAY PARTIES!!!!
soooo apparently its just my apartment that sucks, left the house fro work today and didnt get 50 yards and my speeds jump up to 400~
as i keep walking outdoors my speeds go as high as 1.4 and never went below 400. so when i get to work i figure my speeds will go down as im indoors, wrong i kept getting speeds around 500 tho i didnt see the huge jumps that i did outdoors
We're on the list to have HSPA+ flipped on here in Austin next week, but I'm already starting to see the signs...I can now hit 3-5MB downstream just about anywhere in town.
3mbps-4mbps here in ATL
we are getting an average of about 3mbps-4mbps with HSPA+ in Atlanta, GA
Funny thing when I tether I get 12-15 Mbps. only when I tether tho even if its another phone

T-Mobile 3G speed decrease in San Antonio

I got the vibrant about 2wks ago and using the speedtest app I was getting about 2-3Mbps at my house and other places in San Antonio; but now all I get is .05Mbps at my house and max of 1Mbps if I'm lucky when out and about. I called T-mo but they gave me standard line of depends on location and type of phone etc...but using same phone from same location my 3g should drop so much right? heck if I turn it to 2G only mode I get better speeds, and I have only used about 1.5Gb of data so far. Also when using speedtest app it seems to get my location wrong could the bad GPS be screwing with my 3G speeds? Any one else experience anything similar?
I too have encountered this, I'm in Birmingham, tried speed test shortly after they launched HSDPA and got ~ 2.5 megs down, but here lately I MAY get 1 meg.

My phone is returned waiting on a GPS fix or HS phone, but my buddy with a 3G Touch got between 1000 and 3000 at a fixed location, 4 tests in about 5 minutes. Very strange. Verizon was 300-500. AT&T was 900-1500. Tried a couple different speed tests, dslreports & mobilespeedtest.

[Q] Extreme 4g slowness - Fort Worth, TX

Is anybody experiencing pathetic download speeds on 4g? I've been getting 128 kbps down the past two days (prior to this speeds were excellent). Upload speeds are good, so i'm inclined to think that this is a local issue? Any ideas?
I'm using AvaV9 with the latest radios.

Well I dont turn on 4g often but yes very slow and not reliable in North Richland Hills....I am normally in Dallas during the day where i only max between 3-5mps..At night i connect to wifi....My opinion, it waste battery and only good if your outside in our area/ regular 3g is always reliable 512kbps up and down
my friend is getting about 10mb/sec.
Although clear has been acting up. Been extremely slow the past week.
I am in slc utah but have been having the same issues. 4G download speeds are very slow off and on but upload speeds are still at standard 1 mb. I'm still trying to figure this one out....

shoo, in Richardson (just a little outside of Dallas) I get 2 mb down at home but 10 mb down at my school..
Edit: I take that back, I tested that like a couple of months ago, after posting that comment I went back and tested my 4G at my school...I was gettin a little under 100kb down and 3mb up. That dont make no sense.
Edit2: Ok, what the hell goin on here? I get home where I have 4g, but no bars, and Im pulling 1mb down...haha this 4g is playing with my emotions!
I am seeing the same thing in Frisco, Dallas, Plano and Carrollton although... It is VERY hit and miss. From my office I typically get 3-5mbps, it seems that here recently something has happened and there are times when I get less than 100k. Are any of you guys using an EVO? I've also noticed that with the 4G turned on the CPU goes to 100% sometimes (haven't been able to replicate with 4G off.)
Boss has EVO, wife has EVO and we all see the exact same thing...
Same thing happening here in vegas 500 down and 1 or more up

I'm in the Mid-Cities area, Euless to be more specific. I just got 6mb down and almost 1mb up. Maybe it was being worked on or something today. Anyone want to verify that it's good again?
In Fremont, near SF, I've never had a problem with my 4g. Even with just 0-1bar of 4g, it's always been solid and consistent, around 8mbps down
Yea, I had a peice of paper on my door this morning saying 4g tour is up. So I decided to try 4g again and now on I'm getting 5mbps down and 2 up. Yesterday I posted up above in this thread with horrible speed. North Richland Hills/ Ft worth

Anybody consider the elevated solar activity since sunday as a possible cause of the current issues? I know my cable has been pixelating, and my home internet has been intermittant. Just something to think about.
Also I have never seen speeds as fast as you guys get on my EVO. Of course I run CM6 so I only get 3g but I have never had speeds above 1mbps usually alot less. Oh and I'm in the North Fort Worth/North Richland Hills/Haltom City area.
Noel
My 4g speeds are back to normal.
Have been getting terrible speeds all week long in Downtown Dallas. Both 4g and 3G have been very slow.
yo
my 4g speed hits 10-11mb/s on average right here in fort worth, right around the 820/35 area and pretty much up and down 820, all the way to jackborrow (sp)?
haven't tried downtown area yet but ill test it out and let ya know
Mine is very hit and miss the last few days. I will have periods of good speed, then it slows to a crawl. With tethered downloading I especially notice an initial burst of speed, then at times it slows to 10kb/sec =(.
Well i just found this snippet from some article
Clearwire told Electronista:
Throtting is based on the current utilization for each cell tower, and many low-use towers do not throttle speeds at all. For high-use towers, throttling occurs during peak-use times.
A customer’s maximum speed is based on the number of gigabytes of data transferred in the past seven days and the download speeds for the past 15 minutes. Speeds are recalculated every 15 minutes, at which point a throttled customer will be bumped up to a higher speed. Rather than implementing one speed for throttling, the calculations will move customers between 48 different speed brackets.
The worst offenders using peer-to-peer software on Clearwire’s network may face repeated throttling.

Seems to fit my symptoms like a glove. Bums me the **** out too, because when im throttled I might as well be on dial up.

Faster speeds on Atrix the last few days?

Has anybody else seen faster speeds, especially download, on their Atrix over the last few days Using speediest, I'm now getting constistenly over 2.5mbps (3031, 2650 and 3949 today) down and 200+ up where I was consistently getting 1200-1300 down and 125-150 up since I got the unit. Didn't know if it was a fluke for me or At&T might have done something over the weekend in the NY area to improve speed. System show HSDPA and I have the most recent OTA upgrade

Apparently in some markets instead of just turning it all on at once they're slowly rolling out speed increases up to HSPA+ standards. I think Chicago people have said they're seeing the same.
Those are 3G speeds not even half of what hspa+ is capable of. I got those speeds on my LG Quantum that is a strickly 3G device.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA Premium App
speeds have been faster in my area all around and that has caused me to almost blow through my cap
Los Angeles CA 90016 - Average Download = 1.7mbps / upload = 250kbps
Phoenix is getting no love from AT&T. HSPA+ is here in name only and still crippled for non-Apple devices.
My 2year old iPhone 3GS gets faster upload and download speeds than my Atrix.
I live in Pittsburgh and my speeds vary yesterday i got 3529kb dl and 392kb up and today im getting 1029kb dl and 275kb up maybe because of the weather?
