Installing Omega ROM v20 on Samsung Galaxy S5 SM-G900F - Galaxy S 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

First time poster here.. Help me out yeah?
I wanna stick to the stock look on a S5 so I've ended up with Omega ROM
So my choice for a custom ROM has been narrowed down to the Omega ROM v20 based on Android 6.0.1. The installation instructions on the omegadroid website were pretty much straight forward.
But my question is do I need to flash the bootloader and modem files that are mentioned in the instructions? Or should I install them for good measure and continue with the setup?
If you can link me to a good post regarding this issue that'd be great too..
Thanks in advance,
User.:good:

If you do have the marshmallow boot loader and modem
then you are ready to flash if not flash the files provided BUT take a nandroid backup.
Happy flashing

[Q] Trouble flashing new roms afterLP stock flash. (N910F)

Hi guys,
I really hope someone can point me in the right direction here, I'd really appreciate it!
I've never had to ask for help before with flashing one of my devices, and have flashed hundreds of times with my previous phones, S3, S5 and Note3 .. However this one has me a bit stumped. I have the Note4 N910F and I see many awesome LP ROMS seem to require that you flash stock 5.0.1 via Odin before flashing the custom ROM.
I managed to do this successfully with the ROM listed at Sammobile called "Unknown 5.0.1 N910FXXU1BOC3 N910FTPD1BOC1" - Everything is OK, boots perfectly and I have cell signal and LTE. Rooting was also a non-issue. The problem I have though is that no matter which custom recovery I try, and regardless of ROM that I try, all seem to get stuck in a boot loop at the Samsung screen.
Am I doing or have done something horribly wrong?
Please help!
I think I may have answered my own question. The stock ROM I flashed was BOB3, it seems I need to be on BOB4, which is the German based ROM. Busy downloading that now!

Why can't you flash custom rom's with BOB3 installed?
Thanks

[Q] I337M advice request.

I'm going looking into flashing a custom ROM on my sister's i337m (on Rogers) . Currently it is on Lollipop OTA update, and she says that ever since the update it has been super slow and laggy. I told her i can flash a custom ROM and it should be much better performance (in my experience good custom roms can provide much better performance than stock firmware in most cases).
I'm not familiar with the S4 specifically but have been using custom ROMs myself on various other phones so i generally familiar with the procedures involved. Just want to ask for advice on a couple points.
1) From what i've read so far i am trying to decide between Goldeneye and Kangapop. both seem to be pretty solid options. I noticed in the install instructions for both it mention that the i337m useres need to have 4.4.2 baseband and bootloader. Is there any specific one that works better than others i see a few different stock versions of 4.4.2 for i337m Rogers on sammobile (MG1, NC1, NE1, NI2) I am currently downloading the most recent NI2. Just not sure if specific versions have any bugs, flaws or advantages/disadvantages to worry about..
2) I figured while i'm going to have to downgrade the firmware to install the custom ROM i might as well try the Root/Unlock procedure from this thread . Is this still working? I think i would need to flash the stock NI2 firmware then follow the procedure in that thread to root and unlock the phone then from there i could install Goldeneye or Kangapop? Has anyone done this or can confirm if it should work this way.
Thanks

Out of the game for a while advice welcome

The last time i flashed a rom was about 6 months ago and the last time i had to get my hands dirty in a root and recovery process was even longer, probably as much as 2 years back with my old S2.
With this in mind i was hoping for a little guidance on a couple of things.
1) I'm not too concerned with triggering knox that i heard could be a problem in the early days for the note 3 as it's nearly 2 years old but I'd prefer not to, what is the best way and the best order to root, flash recovery and then flash a rom?
2)i know there isn't much love for people asking what is the best rom but what i would like to have is a stable rom even if it isn't the most recent and i do like touchwiz. However i do like the idea of extra features and tweaks. So, are there roms around that meet these requirements?
Cheers guys.
There are ROMs.. but Xposed is still not stable for Lollipop Samsung phones...
I'm not a fan of Touchwiz either but Lollipop Touchwiz is awesome (coming from a CM Fan)
Also ROMs like AryaMod are promising
cheers mate.
any other advice for the rooting and recovery processes from anyone?
You are not out for long enough to forget stuffs Welcome back anyway.
Rooting can't be more easy. Just flash any custom recovery (TWRP/ Philz), and flash the SuperSU zip package which can be found in Chainfire's website from it, https://download.chainfire.eu/696/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Done, you are rooted.
And for stable ROMs, well some are out there, but my favourite is AryaMod. It is based on stock TW ROM and comes with lots of customisations. If you are looking for purely stock based ROMs then just download those cooked ROMs by Alexandar (pardon if the spelling is wrong), they are as close to stock as you will get. And I don't like S6 based ROMs, I have a Note 3 and I want it as a Note 3, but there are few out there which will give you some S6 features. But the ones I mentioned are purely Note 3 based, you won't find any other phones' feature in them

1. I triggered Knox ages back so haven't kept up on things but if you flash a custom recovery, AFAIK you WILL trigger it. There are ways to flash custom ROMs etc without triggering Knox but I think you have to flash a pre-rooted ROM. Do some reading around - I've seen a number of threads about it.
2. I am currently on Temasek's CM12.1 ROM and have been for some time. I occasionally try others but have always come back to his - it's everything I like. Even on stock though, I run Nova launcher. For a stock-based ROM I'd recommend Sparx's Alliance ROM - I used it for months and it is easily the most configurable ROM I have seen - you don't need Xposed or other app to mod things, it's all built in.
You'd be surprised how much i could forget haha
So, would it be - 1) root (which method and how?) 2) flash recovery (which one and how?) 3) if I'm to use arya rom it says I'd need a stock lollipop installed first so would i do this before the root and recovery (again which one and how?)
Thanks guys for advice and patience.

1,2- Root: Simple as I said before. Just head over to Development section and find TWRP recovery. Flash that via Odin. Then go to Chainfire's website, to download the SuperSU zip package, 2.46 I believe is the latest version. Have that zip package copied to your internal or external memory, enter Recovery (I am sure you remember Vol Up + Power button combo will help you to enter recovery) and flash that SuperSU zip file. Just reboot the phone and you are now rooted.
3- Yes, you will be needing to flash a stock Lollipop ROM to be able to use Arya. I am not sure but I think its because of the bootloader. If you want to flash a stock ROM, just head over to sammobile.com and download any Lollipop ROM you want and flash it via Odin. Then download Arya ROM, it will be a zip package, and install that from TWRP, just like you would flash that SuperSU zip for rooting.

Cheers mate, i think I'm nearly there. Flashing the stock lollipop will wipe out root won't it? Do is it best to first flash the stock lollipop, then flash twrp then root then arya?
Lastly, when i looked on sammobile there were many different regions of it. I'm in the uk on an unlocked international model which i believe is btu. I know btu hasn't had it yet so which one is best? I know I'll be flashing arya over it but would like it to be the right one as i might try it out for a few days before flashing arya.

Yep, you got it right, you should flash the stock Lollipop ROM first, then flash TWRP, then root the phone (SuperSU zip package from recovery) and then flash AryaMod. That way you won't have to repeat any steps, cause flashing any stock ROM will restore stock recovery anyway, but I am sure you've already figured that.
About the ROMs on sammobile.com, well I can't really say which one you should download. I once downloaded a German or UK ROM (can't recall really) and it wouldn't flash on my UAE Note 3, someone told me that mine is 32 gigs phone and that ROM was meant for 16 gigs phone, since then I really didn't put much thought about those ROMs anyway, and obviously I had found Arya by then. You can ask in on the UK only topic in general section, they should be able to help you. The ROM from sammobile which worked for my phone was Polish Lollipop ROM, but again, it worked on my phone, so you get the point.

Flashing Bootloader and Modem in a Custom rom I9505

hi, im new here. I have a question regarding my galaxy s4 i9505 which is already stated in the title. Im currently using Optimized Cm13 by JDC team which runs in my very old bootloader I9505ZHU and modem. Though i dont have any problems with it, i would still like to update to later version of bootloader like i9505XX that is where the custom rom is based. So is it possible?
Yes.
There is a guide and links to modem files in the S4 General Section.
The guide is by the user Bon_Bon. It's pretty detailed. Though I'm not sure if the modems and bootloaders listed there are the most recent, but they certainly aren't that old either.
Also, you may find that going to the last pages of that thread, users have posted the latest modem/bootloader combo. If not, there's another - older - modem thread that may have them.
Another way to get the latest bootloader and modem on the phone is pretty simple: use TWRP to backup your exiting ROM, flash the latest stock ROM from sammobile.com with Odin, flash TWRP with Odin, and restore backup from TWRP.

Old Note 3

Hi all,
Thanks in advance.... I had my Note 3 since it was launched and I think it's high time I root it & try to use it with custom built rom as the original standard rom is getting out dated & sluggish.
I read a few threads about rooting this phone and the more I read, the more confuse I got as I am not sure which is the best way to do it now.
So, if there is any kind hearted soul out there, can you point me the right direction to which thread or way that is best for rooting my Note 3.
Lastly, which custom Rom that is currently best in terms of stability? I prefer rom that is as clean as possible without those bloatwares or unnecessary apps that usually comes standard on the original rom.
My unit should be international model as it is not tied to any Telco, I am in Malaysia.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thank you
Flash TWRP custom recovery .
Use Supersu zip to root if needed .
Best rom

If you intend to use a custom ROM, there is no need to root the phone before flashing the custom ROM if you install TWRP first.
Confirm the model # of your phone in download mode before flashing TWRP as Samsung made several models of the Note 3.
Thanks so much guys, great stuff, at least there is something I can look forward to do this Christmas break....
Thanks again... Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to all!

Hi, so what you are saying is if I install the right copy of TWRP first, it will do the rooting as well & put in the supersu for me?
Thanks again.
What I mean is that there is no need to root the existing stock rom with supersu if you intend to go straight to a custom ROM after flashing twrp.
Flashing supersu with twrp is needed to get root on a stock rom if you intend to stay with a stock rom.
