hotplugging question - ZTE Axon 7 Questions & Answers

So I installed Kernel Adiutor to tweak the I/O performance and was kinda curious about the governors and all. I noticed that all 4 cores stay on at ALL times. Is this normal behaviour? Why is there no hotplugging? could it be implemented in a custom kernel?
Coming from a Snapdragon 801 which had quad custom cores, it used to have hotplugging to save battery. Thanks for answering if anyone knows

My only guess here is probably the Developer haven't add support for the new'er Snapdragon chip/s?
Been using Kernel Auditor for awhile and I see sd820 reads as single cluster where should 2 (big-LITTLE) . Well just a thought

ok that makes sense, do you know of a kernel tweaker which is updated to work with the new snapdragons by any chance?

I found an app that works, for anybody who is interested, EX Kernel manager works great with the big.LITTLE cores on the s820, happy tweaking!
I'm currently trying out the Interactive governor tweaks posted around the forums

[Q] Difference between Bricked and Franco's GPU OC methods?

I have vaguely heard of showp talking about how with his kernel, the GPU speed is set at install because a whole bunch of things need to be switched out, but I also know of Franco's interface being able to change GPU clock speed on the fly. Can anyone explain the difference between the two? And advantages/disadvantages of the two, if there are any?
Thanks,

underclocking on V500 impossible?

i'm on stock rooted and tryen many apps like setcpu but without success.
monitoring the cpu with PERFMON http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1933284
only cpu0 seem to reduce frequency and not all other 3 cores... and for a small amount of time
after some seconds all 4 cores return at max freq.
anyone have success in underclocking and what app use?
or i need a custom kernel? and in case how about a stable one?
Overclocking is simple on any of the AOSP ROMs

UPDATE:
Tryed TRICKSTER MOD on my LG G Pad 8.3 V500 with strange results...
i'm on rooted stock and before have tryed all sorta of apps with no luck in UNDERclocking... only 1st core underclock and not the others 3.
Trickster mod are the only that partially work DISABLING MPDECISION.
with mpdecision ON only 1st core underclok.
with mpdecision OFF all core do underclok but core1-3 NOT GO TO SLEEP when not used!!!
also... i try to underclock GPU but all the way they return to full speed even with mpdecision OFF
tests done with PERFMON http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1933284
please help i DO WANT TO UNDERCLOCK
Hello
Any progress?
You need to run a kernel that supports overclocking/underclocking for best results on stock roms. AOSP Roms tend to come with a custom kernel that has this functionality.

LG G2 Performance

Is there any way to overclock the GPU and/or memory inside of a rooted and rom'd Verizon LG G2? I want to squeeze every last drop of performance out of the Snapdragon 800.
Any general performance suggestions?
Thanks in advance guys!
Hi, which rom and kernel do you use?

Hey there, I'm in the process of updating to the latest Vanir build and the 8.0.1 Dorimanx F2FS kernel.
Till now, there has not been a way of overclocking the GPU of the LG G2.
But honestly? It would only cause the overall performance to drop. The G2 already has a hard time getting rid of the heat generated when running at 450 Mhz, so overclocking it would just generate more heat which, in the end, would result in an even more aggressive throttling.
With Dorimanx kernel, you can OC the GPU to 450Mhz, if I'm right the RAM frequency is not OC.
Then, there is a lot of tweak with STweak and Synapse.
The best thing that you can do is to try
I use it every days with the CPU @1.9Ghz and GPU @320Mhz without any lag.
I guess you will not succeed with F2FS... Not working for now.

My bad, you right, 450Mhz is the stock frequency.
Thank you for the prompt replies guys!
It's a little disappointing that those overclocking options are not available but this phone is still a beast! I was curious about those options as I am envious of new mobile chips such as the Snapdragon 805, 808, 810 and the Tegra K1.
It's the natural cycle for a phone. It's hard to admit and accept but that's how it is. I can't wait till there are more options of phones with 64 bit cpu.
BTW, 808 and 810 aren't even out yet.

GPU/RAM Overclock

Is there any kernel that allows one to overclock the 6p's GPU and/or RAM? I know you can overclock both CPU clusters so I thought this might be possible as well.
Also, I read awhile ago that undervolting was not possible on the 6p. Does this still hold true?
Thanks
Would still love to know if this is possible. I know that the Snapdragon810 version 2.1 is inside the 6p, which has a stock GPU clock of 630mhz but unfortunately it's onlyclocked to 600mhz.

The max frequency for the GPU is at 600 mHz. And speaking based on my own usage (as I have no data about other uses), it's very rare for the phone to reach that frequency, even when doing gpu-intensive tasks like gaming. So I think that value would suffice for the heaviest graphical tasks you'd throw at it. That said I've tried almost every kernel out there-AK, Kylo, Franco, Elemental, Googymax, Lean, Zigzag, and God's (back in the day) and have never seen a GPU value higher than 600 mHz so I guess that's the max limit which the GPU reaches as far as kernel tweaking goes.
As for RAM, I don't think there's such thing as "overclocking" it, though some custom Kernels provide customization for ZRAM, Low Memory killers, Virtual memory options, etc. If you wish to maximize the available RAM and memory performance then disabling ZRAM and tweaking the other values will be the way to go.
As for undervolting, I could gather from past reading that the values are only present on most kernel tweaking apps for visibility purposes. Mainly for People to know the stock voltages of the phone. I don't think it can be tweaked, and in the first place tweaking it is not ideal due to the big.Little nature of the SD 810.
Overall, my personal opinion is that even if such extreme customization (GPU and RAM, undervolting) is possible I'm afraid it won't be practical. The overall custom kernel development the phone enjoys is already top notch, and already pushes the boundaries of performance and battery life. (thanks to our Kernel Devs) Suffice to say we are currently in kernel tweaking heaven already.

Sm-g950f with ael kernel

Hi everyone,
I'm a new user of this community and only yesterday I've downloaded the EchoeRom and AEL Kernel for my Samsung SM-G950F.
I've seen that the kernel is more customizable than others that I've tried but i have some trouble with Synapse.
It does work correctly and it is fantastic, I'm trying to get the best Antutu benchmark score possible but I can't overclock my GPU
If I set Gpu frequency over 572mhz when I start Antutu, it crashes after a bit seconds and I hate this.
Now I hope that anyone here can help me to set correctly synapse for overclocking my GPU (I've already tried to improve the voltage with some benefit effects but not enough).
