There are multiple threads right here in the forums that offer step to step instructions for rooting your model of grand prime. Use the search function and you'll find them.
Root is similar to having administrator rights on your computer, it allows deeper levels of modification than is available on an unrooted device. There are apps available that will allow you to transfer your apps to SD card also, however most, if not all require root.

You will have to unroot your device before updating, you may then be unable to root again for some time until a new method is found.
However there are custom ROMs available for you device amongst other things.
I invite you to read through the forums for more information

Well, if you have TWRP you can just flash SuperSU flashable zip[ a guaranteed successful root with a very easy way plus if you have phone with marshmallow and above kingroot won't able to root because of new anti-root protection added so normal/kingroot won't work]

The best way to root G530H is flashing this by odin. Link here. http://d-h.st/oqFc. After flashing it flash any recovery by odin.

[Q] Need help with rooting Galaxy Note 3 N900W8

I need help with rooting my Galaxy Note 3. I've never rooted a phone before so I am new to this. I've read some of the posts and understand a bit, but they're all confusing as there are quiet a few posts out there on how to root. I'd like to get some help on which correct tools and stuff I would need to download to help me root my phone. Preferably I would like to stick to stock ROM, or a custom ROM closest to stock without the Samsung bloatware. My phone model is the SM-N900W8, running on KitKat 4.4.2, with a baseband version of N900W8VLUCNB7, and Kernal 3.4.0-859721.

Nothing to do.
You can do factory reset no problem but you might loose root, but just repeat the process in case you do loose root. Be warned though, although quite a lot of people rooted their N900W8 without tripping root, can't exactly say it will be the same for everybody, it might trip it.

If you intend to stay on stock firmware and not flash a rom, then you don't need one. But if you flash a rom made for a N9005, then you will need a kernel made for N900W8/Tmobile in order to make NFC, BT and Wifi work ( also need a patch for the said sensors/signal ).

Make sure ur on KitKat base. Then flash the cwm file from Odin. Untick auto reboot from Odin. After flashing remove battery and place it again. Then go in recovery mode directly via vol+ +power +menu. Then flash the suopersu file and reboot. Then open suppersu app and disable Knox. Then again flash supper su from recovery. None other methods will work in kk for rooting.

So it's safestrap the only way to go for this phone?
Wanted to install something with a full language pack for my father in law.
Maybe Russian or Romanian.

To all who managed to root this phone, did anyone manage to flash anything on it (custom recovery, custom ROM) or are you still running the stock firmware?
To anyone using safestrap, how is that working out, regarding speed, stability etc?

Simplest method for rooting Galaxy Grand Tested on Stock 4.1 Rom

Guys. I found this working.. This is a simplest way to root Galaxy Grand and get Supersu.. Tested working on 4.1..
To root download towel root
https://towelroot.com
Connect to Internet.. One click root.
Then install supersu from
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.supersu
Don't know why, but I always prefer to use Odin to flash recovery and then root manually from here.

Hello everyone.
My phone did a self factory reset 2 weeks ago, and root was still there, but unsuable (if i accept or refuse, it will spam the pop up and will not do anything)
I flashed CF with Odin to root it again, but was stuck on samsung logo, even after 30min, so I removed battery.
After this, I'm kinda stuck. My internal storage (or the entire phone?) is on read-only, and I can't restorecon via adb because I don't have root permissions.
Should I flash this firmware on my phone to make it back to default? (root removed, internal storage still available and data not wiped)
Is there another solution?
Thanks !
If your phone was running a stock ROM, flashing the same stock ROM with Odin should leave the data intact.

Thank you !

I've smashed that thanks button, will flash the ROM on my phone and will come back for updates.
Quick update : flashing the ROM solved my problems with internal storage locked and root.
But I flashed the CF again, and it did the same problem.
Is it so old that there's no method to root a Note 3 4.4.2?
I managed to do it a long time ago, but don't remember what I've used.
Any help for that?
