AT&T Message App with AT&T Message Sync/Backup - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

I have flashed the U firmware on my AT&T Edge and love it but I do miss the AT&T Message Sync feature. In all my previous Galaxy phones we had to use the ugly ATT messaging app to get the sync feature but this apparently worked with the stock Samsung messaging app (unless ATT built their own version of the Samsung app). Long story short (too late): Anyone have a way I can add that one feature back to my phone while on U firmware? Thank you in advance!

S4 Group Messaging on Canadian Versions

I have a BELL Samsung Galaxy S4 and it does not have the group messaging setting in the stock messaging app.
My brother has a FIDO Samsung Galaxy S4 and he has the group messaging setting in the stock messaging app. Group messaging works just fine on his phone when he turns on this setting.
What gives? How can I get this setting and enable group messaging in the stock app on my BELL S4?
Thanks

I'm on Bell and have this setting. Just out of curiousity, you are on the latest update, correct?
I guess so because it's saying no updates are available for my phone. How can I tell if I'm on the latest update? I still don't show that setting. Thanks

[Q] Group Messaging iphone users

i had the gs4 on release and i was messaging iphone users in group chat all the time then i switched back to the iphone 5 in june and now just recently about 3 days ago i switched back to the gs4 and i can't get any replies from people in the group chat. any advice im running shostock rom if that helps.
i checked online and i have removed the device and changed the password and even turned i message off on the original phone. what now
So nothing changed at all on the S4? You were using shostock initially as well? Do you have group messaging turned on in your sms/mms settings? (not sure if this feature is in shostock)

I've used textra or gosms to 5 people with Iphones and they received pictures, texts I haven't had any problems
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I337
Did you check your messaging settings to see if there's a group messaging option?

I use the stock ROM on my AT&T S4 on MF3 and with "Group Messaging" enabled from Message > Settings - I usually have no problems. Sometimes longer messages come in from an iPhone user and I have to first hit "Download" and then it appears in the group message.
Try handcent, it always works for me. Also, stock messaging app has a group chat box, make sure its ticked. and data has to be on in order to group message. They send as MMS.

Schedule an email to be sent later.

Has the schedule an email option been removed or is it me who can't find it in email client?!
Here is how it works on my Note 3
Go to ‘Emails’
Enter the email address you want to send to and compose the message in the normal way
Tap the ‘Expand Menu’ icon
Tap ‘Schedule Sending’
Set the time you want the message to send
Set the date you want the message to send
Tap ‘Done’
I really need this great feature that I have been using a lot. Is there any other email clients that has it? I don't like K-9 Mail. Thanks in advance.
I miss this feature too, coming from Note4.
Seems the new mail app does not have it, in the message app it's still there!
What the hell, Samsung?! I relied on this simple email scheduling feature in the native email client on my Galaxy S3, S4, & S5. First they eliminated the micro sd card slot and removable battery (grrr!) And now I can't find this useful feature. I had liked my previous galaxies so much, each one better than the last, that I didn't bother to do much research before upgrading to the S6. I feel like Samsung has betrayed its loyal customer base in hopes of attracting a share of Apple's devotees. Dumb move!
My thought exactly. They are going in the wrong direction. Only good thing is the "premium" quality instead of the old Samsung plastic.
Why Samsung why???
Why did u remove this amazing feature Samsung..
.why?
has anyone found a way to get back the schedule send email later and schedule send text later options I had on my S5 that my $850 S8+ doesn't have?
S8+ here too and I'm disappointed that they haven't brought back that useful function. I tried moving the apk file from S5 and other roms with no success. We need someone with experience to help us out. I would even pay for a working stock email apk with schedule function.
Boomerang app has schedule send, so far so good.

im still waiting for the answer from 2015

Android Messenger Issues

Anyone have any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this issue -
Have Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge on Verizon. Was using Android Messenger by Google as my SMS app. About three weeks ago, my wife's texts from her Samsung Galaxy S7 on Verizon (also generated by Android Messenger) started coming in under the name "Anonymous" instead of her contact info and I could not text her (either as a reply or a new message). After some troubleshooting, we both switched to the default Samsung texting app and I can, usually, text her. However, sometimes, I get "Error 5: Other Network Error" when texting her. By waiting a while the message will go through. Android Messenger (which I keep trying to switch to) refuses to send messages to her - via the phone or Android Messenger for Web.
I can't find any discussion that this is a known issue for Android Messenger. I can't find any settings on either phone or Verizon online that says that there's some issue. Does anyone have any thoughts?
hey i had the same problem.
what i had to do was disable the samsung messaging app before setting the Android messenger app to default.

Weird. Well, it won't let me do that for some reason, but I did learn that I was behind on OTA updates by about 2 months. After doing both Aug. and Sept., it works. Not sure why. Guess we can mark this as solved.

Samsung Messages or Google Messages

Just got my S10+ this week, and have been busy playing with settings, etc..I'm coming over from the Note 8 (AT&T).
Question for everyone. Do you prefer the built in Samsung Messages app, or Google Messages. I like both, especially now with the dark them more readily available.
What makes me lean more towards Google Messages is the ability to get messages on the web/browser. Was using it all the time on the Note 8.
Wanted to ask if anybody has switched back/forth between the two messaging apps, and if they have encountered any issues? I had switched from Google Messages back to Samsung's message app on the Note 8, and my messages were being sent to the wrong person. That's not a good situation to be in. I ended up switching back because of that.
Also, I noticed there is an updated apk for Samsung messages. My S10+ is using v 10.0.10.111. Looks like they are up to v 10.0.20.37. Anybody install that apk? Any good/bad things in there?
TIA
Coming from an S7 edge i was forced off Google Messages due to the handling of group messages. Sometimes it would work but other times texts that belonged in a group would come in separately. I would then have to click to download the text before it popped back into the group. Other times those texts would show up as expired (even though i just received them) and i would never see what it was. Needless to say i couldn't use it anymore so i ended up using Samsung Messages which never has that issue. Now that i'm on S10+ i'm tempted to try Google Messages again in hopes that it works the way is should as i do prefer it over Samsung Messages just due to the look and of course the web messages.
I've been flip-flopping between: Textra, Google Messages, and Samsung messages.......I've decided to stick with Google Messages.
The Samsung app, feels dated.... I do like the notifications I get when sending to other (At&t) users using the Samsung messaging app (tells when read, or they're replying...ect...), but I only have 1 person out of my 200+ contacts that it's worked on (my 17yr old son, who hates the Samsung messaging app). Plus, it just feels dated. No swipe to delete and long messages require you to "read more".
Textra is the lightest of the bunch, and I've been using for the past 4 or 5 years..... It's also the most customizable. But, Google has upped their game on the last release and incremental updates. It just feels "native" to the phone now. I also like the fact when you receive a PIN number, it recognizes this and copies just the PIN for you.
Google Messages gets my vote
BTW: No issues with group messages for me on the Google Message app
I like the Google messages app very much, but since the update to OneUI I have been using the Samsung version as it's good enough and themes the same way as the other Samsung stock apps, which I like a lot.
I prefer Truecaller messages because of its spam feature..
I love Google messages over Samsung. It worked perfect when i was with ATT. Now that i'm with Verizon I've had issues with google messages. They would come through late or not come at all. Switching to Samsung messages seemed to clear this issue up, as far as i know. No one has said they texted me and i didn't reply. Although that doesn't mean its working correctly, i may not have been aware of missing texts.. Anyone else had any issues with Verizon? i read somewhere a while back that Verizon text messages only worked right when using Verizon messages app. Not sure why that is... Or if it's true. If anyone can shed any light on whether there is, or is not an issue with Verizon messaging if not using Verizon app.

Been using Google Messages for last like 2 years and never seem to have had any problems on Verizon besides the typical sending and receiving from an iPhone of videos etc
Textra every day of the week!
One more benefit of using Google messages is you can enable chat feature now.

Not in the United States. At least not yet.
It is live for 2 of my phones now
Using Google messages, but really like the ability to pin conversations to the top in Samsung app.
Sent feature request to Google..lol
I prefer Android Messages over the stock one.
I love google messages but 2 minor things why I don’t use it on my s10 .
1. Wish google messages had schedule send sms feature . I use that quite a bit . No where in google messenger can I find this option .
2. The notification doesn’t have a pop up view bubble, quick read notification come on the top of the screen when I receive text . Couldn’t find a way to get google messages to do that like stock app notification does .
If there is a fix for both I’d switch back to google messages.

I prefer Samsung over Google mainly because of the ability to pin conversation and star message, the pop up bubble.
If Samsung had scheduler that would be awesome.
There's Qsms which is quite good but I don't want additional apps installed when Samsung messages works atm .
I use Samsung messages at the moment. But the one thing I really miss from Google messages is swipe to archive conversations...I liked to be able to hide conversations I don't use a lot without having to delete them.
