Best Ways to Use the Smart Key - Honor 8 Guides, News, & Discussion

It's pretty standard for any good smartphone to come with a fingerprint scanner these days. The Honor 8 has a fingerprint scanner with an extra feature. If you press on the sensor, you'll feel it click much like the button on a refrigerator would if refrigerators had buttons. You can assign custom actions to this button for press, double press and press and hold.

To get started, go to your smart assistance menu and select smart key.
Here the setup process will be obvious so I'll skip that and let you know what I've been using the smart key for.
One Press activates my flashlight. I often go for a walk around the woods at night and I need to be able to see what's going on without fumbling around with my phone too much. Smart key is a perfect solution.
Double Press is set to open Snapchat simply because it's the app I use most often. It's common to have a shortcut button to your camera app but now I can launch straight into Snapchat.
Press and Hold is set to launch my Google Driving app. This app will automatically start navigating home when you launch it. So when I'm driving, all I have to do it press one button on my phone to start the navigation back to my house. I don't even have to look at my phone screen.

nice and nifty feature.
best implementation of fingerprint sensor ever!!!!!

Would like to set the single click to go to Home Screen, but cannot find the Huawei Laucher in the list of apps (I'm giving it a try to the default launcher before going back to Google laucher).

really an awesome feature...but if someone wants to do this with his phone...
1. root your phone...
2. Install xposed installer(experimental recommended)
3. open xposed and install framework
4. goto downloads and download "physical keys mapping"
5.activate the module and reboot...
6.open physical key mapping..
7.set it up...
8.enjoy...
#you can use these keys even when your phone locked

One press - Pokemon Go
Two press - Dominos
Three - Directions to MacDonalds

There is also another use of the Smart Key to pull down notification shade, clear them as well as to navigate while using gallery app.
It's under Settings -> Fingerprint ID
With those features, it seems like the button can be used for navigation as well. I sure wish someone can write an app to customize it as a back button

one press: flash light
two press: none
long press: smart controller

Good information.
Rather than using the Fingerprint sensor solely for its purpose, its using it to provide more functions to interact with the device intuitively.
That's where the Honor stands out

I got mine set for:
1. Calculator
2. smart remote
3. torch

I wish they could bring an update to slide the page up down on chrome, surfing the web or sliding up or down on twitter app. It would be great

Tip for even more one-handed WM5.0

One more tip for the people who want to use their Wizard without using the stylus most of the time.
I use AEBPlus in combination with Mort Buttons (www.sto-helit.de). AEBPlus remaps the buttons and gives the possibility to bind 3 apps to the messaging, IE, voice dial and camera buttons. By pressing the button 1,2 or 3 times the app than executes. Under one of these buttons I have a Mort Button, which contains a list of up to 12 apps or tasks. For instance: By double pressing the IE button I get a Mortbutton screen allowing me to turn my flightmode on or off, switch bluetooth on, off or discoverable (with Buzz Lightyear's SwitchIt), turn my screen landscape, open the comm manager, go to the today screen and open the start menu. By pressing the voice dial button once I get the ok button, by pressing twice voice dial starts and by pressing three times I get a mortbutton screen that opens a new note. I had to include the last one because AEBPlus is written for 2003 SE and the "hold" function for the voice notes is disabled. So is the Comm Manager button, AEBPlus has remapped it to the second IE button press. But by including Comm Manager on the Mort button list, that problem is solved as well. The setup is not perfect like this, and some people might object to losing the one-press Comm Manager and "hold"voicenote function, but for me it made WM even more one-handed, without the need for the stylus most of the time.
Good idea. I've never really looked at MortButtons, but I've set it up. Shame you can't map a button to OK.
Koksie, what do you use to toggle flightmode on and off? Switchit only controls BT and Infrared. Thanks
@ Echilon: That's where AEBPLus comes in. I mapped the close function of SPB Pocket Plus to my voice dial button through the options in SPB PP. 1 click and it closes everything, two presses is voice dial and three presses is a MortButton. the two apps together are a strong team. if you want an ok button instead of a close button, be aware that in most apps the center of the D-pad also acts as one. Of course you can also add the ok button from SPB PP to an AEBPus button or use the close from SPB. I found that the close button actually closes the apps or acts as ok, whereas the ok button only acts as ok or minimizes and does not really close.
@ efjay: I use a little app called tel.on-off.exe. It is a small app (6kb), Just copy it to a folder on your device, and make a connection to a MortButton. Unfortunately I have not been able to bind it to a button directly, it does not show up in the drop down menu with apps you can connect to a hardware button, so I just put it on the top of the list in my MortButton1. 1 click and my radio goes on or off. very helpfull. I'll attach the file here.
Good luck!
Hmmm. Wondering how I can restore back to where I was before the install of this software. Can someone please use a registry editor and export the keys and values for:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Keys
Much thanks!
David
Koksie, thanks for the file. Unfortunately it doesnt fully work on my BA with WM5; it can switch to flight mode ok but cant turn the radio back on. Thanks anyway

Happily Wisbar Advance 2 provides a soft-OK/Close "button", I now mapped it to the comm button, but using AEBPlus I will make a totally new different key mapping!

buttonmax 2.0 from pcoketmax is also a fantastic app! binds 3 actions per button...

Is there any way of mapping Magic Button to a hardware key? I know you can map the application, but I don't know how to map its behaviour when you tap the close button to a hardware button? Is it a command line thing? Is it even possible?

It's a little bit roundabout, and probably unnecessary, but VJOkButt can be set to emulate physically clicking the ok button. If your ok button/ok button replacement is in the normal place, top right, using the -justclick option will emulate clicking it.
You can then make a shortcut to VJOkButt -justclick, assign that to a hardware key, and you've now got Magic Button on demand.
V
Ok, that's wierd...
I just downloaded VJOKButt, and went about assigning it to my internet button on my K-Jam. For some reason, all the shortcuts, except for Just Click (the one I wanted!) work when assigned to the hardware button. Bizarre. If that's not wierd enough, Just Click works when I run it normally (i.e. by tapping its icon). I've tried both 0.61 and 0.63, and neither work.
What the hell's happening?
the_invisigoth: that is weird. So justclick works when you run the icon? Have you tried other hardware keys in case the net key uses a special state (I don't have a wizard so can't test the keyboard really)...
V
Fraid it's not just the net key, it's all of them.
Damn, I was hoping you were going to have some super-intelligent explanation that would wow me, and give me the final piece in getting my phone to its sweet spot...
Any ideas, anyone?
So you're saying you can't use VJOkButt shortcuts on any hardware key?
That would be unusual. Did you install to the default location?
Most of us use VJOkButt on a hardware key. If -justclick works as an icon, then the issue to isolate is assigning the shortcut to the hardware key right?
V
Right.
Installed it to the default location (Main Memory), and have the 6 versions in a folder on the Start Menu. Haven't heard of this sort of thing before...
Will do a bit of investigation during today, and let you know.

Had the same problem: wanted to use -justclick on my wizard with wm5 but didn't work. But the I used the plain VJOkButt and is working just fine.
I think the normal one (VJOkButt) is better than -justclick since will also close error messages or other messages in the center of the screen (i.e. with the ok button not in the upper-right corner). Is that right vijay? (maybe I'm wrong about the oprions )
BTW : MagicButton + VjOkButt + SmallMenu is a very good combination imho.
EDIT: Anyone knows how to "expand" the Settings meniu in SmallMenu?
kelu: -justclick is, unfortunately, just an emulator for clicking the ok/close button in the top right. It merely attempts to click approximately in the top right corner. I never use it, but it was for those using other close button emulators. I'll have to remember to fix the dialog closing issue with justclick.
Frankly, if you tell me what you need in your close button emulator, I'm still developing VJOkButt and I'll try to incorporate it (exclusion lists have already been requested. I'm currently working on a complicated but necessary fix on it disconnecting GPRS).
That's a strange bug that none of the shortcuts work. How are you assigning the shortcuts to the keyboard? Any special program or just settings > buttons?
Expanding the Settings menu in smallmenu?

[GUIDE] ..::The Galaxy Note Tips n Tricks Collaboration::..

Mod edit - all of the information here has been moved over into the Galaxy Notes Tips and Tricks thread. Please continue the discussion there.
Hi and welcome to the Samsung Galaxy Note, Tips n Tricks thread...
This is just a collaboration of all the tips that were gathered mainly from the thread 'Galaxy Note: tips and tricks' started by 'galaxytab1'. So massive thanks to him and to all the members that contributed to that thread. I take absolutely no praise in doing this thread as all I am really doing is copying info from one place to another to make it easier for new and experienced users to find what they want. All credit goes to the contributing users.
So to make it easier please do not try and reply to this thread, if there is some information about the Note that you want to share please either post it in the 'Galaxy Note: tips and tricks' thread or PM me to add it to the list, same goes with editing. As always use these tips at your own risk.
Link2Post 'Links' usually mean there is more info about the tip (i.e. Pictures) from their original post.
Prehaps if any admins read this and deem this worthy of useful maybe you could sticky & lock it with certain user editing functions?

1. Pressing and holding the menu key brings up google search... it also it toggles the keyboard in the browser, even when a text input box isn't selected... (Jade Eyed Wolf)
2. Certain widgets from Samsung are resizable: Bookmarks, Weather, and S-memo. These are again only seen in galaxy note i guess.. Link2Post (galaxytab1)
Hold the widget until it gets big and the desktop gets small, indicating it's able to be moved. Then let go and it'll drop back down and the resizing lines will appear. Touch and hold the grey triangle on the lower right corner, and drag to resize the widget. (maxh)
3. The new browser in 2.3.6 upgrade has this new brightness option in the settings tab. (galaxytab1)
4. There is the ability to tag your music for easier searching. (galaxytab1)
5. You can also do live recording using the built in FM Radio. (galaxytab1)
6. Long pressing on the status bar then sliding your finger left and right adjusts the screen brightness but only when NOT using auto-brightness. (djowett)
7. Three ways to take a screen shot:
I: Using the S-Pen hold in the button then press on the screen until the shot is taken.
II: Like you were doing a hand shake, swipe the bottom of your palm across the screen either left to right or right to left.
III: Press The home button and power button together. (dr.ketan)
8. There is a toggle for the noise reduction during calls. Press menu AFTER call is connected to invoke the option. (Galaxytab1)
9. When you open your contacts list if you swipe your finger over their name to the right it calls them and when you swipe left it opens up an SMS to them. (Braxos)
10. The contacts can be made to search not only with the first letter but second also. Try touching the letters 'A,B,C...'on the right edge of the contacts list and then swipe away towards left, you will see the second letters appearing by which to look up contacts. (Galaxytab1)
11. Pressing the home button wakes the screen up from sleep. (ItsMathematics)
12. The built-in alarm app will ring out the headphones, when plugged in. (eksasol)
13. Pressing the button on the S-Pen and then double tapping on any screen at any point will bring up the S-Memo app. (zs6wdl)/(BaconDanny)
14. Track and remote control various options using 'Find My Mobile' activate in Settings/Location and Security. See this post for a more detailed description http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410757 Very handy if you loose your phone. (dr.ketan)
15. Pinch to zoom also works in the camera app. (hagba)
16. You can control the FM radio using the packaged earphones. Long pressing the call button starts and stops the player and single presses moves you to the next station. (Strategist )
17. Touch and twist with one finger to rotate photos in gallery, don't use the top of your finger, more like if you were pressing in a fingerprint and then twist 90 degrees. (Darius)
18. Pause your music using the palm of your hand. When playing music and the screen is active place your palm of your hand over the entire screen to pause it until you remove your hand. (Darius)
19. In camera settings choose "edit shortcuts" and you can drag the ones you want onto the left for quick access. Also works for video mode shortcuts as well, useful for quick resolution change. (Darius)
20. Use three fingers to scroll completely up or down entire pages. (masiegel)
21. Long pressing the home button will bring up the last 6 programs used and a short-cut to the task manager. (hagba)
22. To make the keyboard disappear quickly, swipe downward on the keyboard. (imajin)
23. Don't use voice commands? Don't want it to pop up when double clicking home button? It can be easily disabled in apps/Voice Talk/Menu. (Galaxytab1)
24. To mute your ring or alarm just gently turn over the phone so the its face down on a flat surface. (mcatt66)
25. Long pressing the back button in the browser brings up the history list. (katyarevishal)
26. In settings-accessibility at the bottom is a sub menu called answering/end calls, there you can toggle the use of the power button to end the call. I like this one as there is always a small delay in the seen coming on to highlight the end call button.
There's also a toggle for answering a call using the home button and an automatic answer option using the stereo headset. (jamieross)
Pictures supplied by galaxytab1 Link2Post
27. S-memo syncs with Google Docs, just go to S-Memo/Menu/Sync. (Galaxytab1)
28. Tips on S-memo sync with Google Docs:
I. Search option in Docs searches the whole of your document and not just the title. So, of you type something in the notes, it is searchable.
II. Title can be entered at the top, however, any text that you enter on the notes becomes the title.
III. S-Memo also has a tag system (Edit Tag) which neatly arranges your memos together, go to S-Memo/Menu/Sort by tag. (Galaxytab1)
IV. If you are syncing with google docs, deleting a memo doesn't delete the memo on google cloud. So any memo you deleted will be back next time you sync unless you login in at docs and delete the memo.
29. In the stock browser if u pinch to zoom out while fully zoomed out it brings up the new and choose window feature. (jamieross)
30. Upon pressing the status bar for a few seconds, when its pulled right till the bottom of the screen,it disappears immediately, without the need it to pull it up or going back. (NoRmAlY_CrAzY)
31. In S Planner, pinch to zoom will take you to year/month/week/day/now views quickly. Pretty slick. (Croak)
32. While playing a video touch the screen and slide up or down to control the volume. And slide left or right to control the elapsed time. (hagba)
33. I. When opening the calculator you got the standard use of it switching to landscape mode your phone then the calculator switches to a more scientific mode. Not a fully scientific but it gets some good things. (Braxos)
II. Just to add if u slide down the arrow u get all your past calculations.... (jamieross)
34. You can fast forward and rewind while watching videos in the stock galaxy note app. (Chillz88)
35. The photo editor provided by Samsung has this one nifty feature:
Crop a photo and paste into another/The cropped image colour scheme will adjust to the new background. Link2Post (galaxytab1)
36. 3rd party launchers don't support widgets from s-memo, s-planner etc (galaxytab1)
37. Here is one more use of the pen:
Install Handwriting Recognition Calculator from Samsung Apps (not in Market). It works most of the time and even if recognition is not good, there is an edit option to reenter the figures. Kinda cool with the pen! Link2Post (galaxytab1)
Tips n Tricks that help better use of your Note
1. To read at night, display brightness can be dimmed using the app 'screen filter' at http://market.android.com/search?q=pname:com.haxor . (Galaxytab1)
2. ezPdf has this 'freehand' annotation, pen can write on the pdf file and saved there itself, visible on any platform as comments within the pdf.
https://market.android.com/details?id=udk.android.reader&hl=en (Galaxytab1)
3. Use this app to get to camcorder directly, bypassing camera.
http://market.android.com/search?q=p...wens.Camcorder (Galaxytab1)
4. You can connect any mouse and keyboard plus any samsung printer to galaxy note just using on-the-go cable. (bdodge1989)
5. It is not something exclusive to galaxy note, butI discovered these Swype keypad shortcuts on my note: (galaxytab1)
I. Swype key to '123' key swipe: edit options
II. Swype key to 'a'key swipe: select all
III. Swype key to 'x', 'c', 'v'key swipe: cut, copy, paste respectively.
IV. Swype key to 'r' or 't' or 'y' key swipe: numeric keyboard. (este548)
6. One of the best features I like on the GNote is the Clipboard,I havn't noticed this in any other Android device.
one can select the text in almost any application and it will be copied to the Clipboard,I have downloaded an App called AndClip from the Market(free),with it I can View, copy,Delete etc. all the texts which are copied to the Clipboard.
Very usefull feature. (hagba)
7. The notification bar is tough to draw on such a large screen with single hand use, which is why I am using this app:
https://market.android.com/details?i...tusbarexpander Place it on swipepad or other launchers or home screen. (galaxytab1)
Check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGqUILrMR0A
You can record video while on Video call.
Sliding a finger right/left over the keyboard spacebar will toggle keyboard language.
long pressing the Swype icon in the swype keboard will take you to the keyboard settings where you can easily change the preferences.
To disable camera shutter sound, first disable the sound by pressing volume button all the way down and only than start the Camera.

Don't know if this is exclusive to Note, or if this has been posted before, or if this is written in the manuals or instructions. Sorry if it is.
In S Planner, letting go after a held tap on a date box in Month view, or [the small space under the date]* in Week/3Days/Days view, will bring out S Memo Lite and what you scribble will be saved to the day where you entered it.

Recent Apps vs Menu button - good or bad change?

I have an S3 and have gotten really used to the left-of-the-home-button-button being the Menu button. I actually even like the fact that a long press of the Menu button gets me to Google Search. So much so that it allowed me to get rid of the actual 4x1 Google Search widget space hog from my home screen.
This new change on the Note 4 to having this button programmed to be a Recent Apps button isn't going to cause me to cancel my preorder, but it did get me thinking to how potentially annoying it may become. That being said, I am open to innovative changes and the idea that the Recent Apps button may actually grow on me to the point of me actually having a preference for it, especially since this monstrosity of a smartphone seems like it has the potential to take multitasking to the next level.
What's your take on it? Also, are there other phones with a similar Recent Apps button and, if so - for those that have experienced it - how do you like it?
Edit: And for those who are unaware, you can still get to the Menu options on the Note 4 via a long press of the new Recent Apps button.
Pretty sure all other android phones go with the Home, Back, and Recent Apps dedicated buttons. I'm glad they put Recent Apps instead since I use that a lot more than the menu.
I used the S3 for two years before the S5 and adapted to the change just fine. IMHO it's a non issue.

You can always create a shortcut for the 'Recent Apps' on the Home screen. But you can't do the same for the Menu button.
IMO the Menu button will be used more frequently than the Recent Apps button.
It's good change IMO.
because google already pushed their app to not use menu button, e.g. in the google play. Device that have menu button can't use that anymore, I think a lot of dev will follow google way since this android, even it's open source, still belong to google anyway.
Just my opinion though
My wife has s5 and I hate new set up. Sometimes the app menu button is hard to find, sometimes you need to swipe from right to left, sometimes it's an icon, often different for different apps, in different locations, hardware menu button was always there to help with any confusion. I still didn't figure out how to access menu on home screen to create folder or edit page, and where is RAM/ downloaded apps/active apps/clear definition screen? It only shows RAM status without clear option and active apps, completely useless. I guess at some point in the future I'll have to get used to it, by then they'll probably change it again.
Great change

Hard to find? Not sure what apps you're using buddy, but all mine have the menu button in the exact same place.

Let's see Calc + has no menu icon, hardware button doesn't work, need to swipe left to right for menu
Supersu has no icons, no hardware button, setting on top
oakla speed test no icon, settings on bottom
Google maps has menu icon in left bottom corner
firefox has no settings, no menu icon I can see, just hardware menu button
internet has no menu that I can see, without hardware button I had no idea how to access menu.
That's just a random sample here.
So, yes buddy, many applications I use have different menu setup and different location for it, as listed above.

In all those apps the hardware menu key does nothing either. So I don't know what that would accomplish.

What do you mean?
in Firefox and Internet that's the only way I know off how to access settings (I'm sure there is another way I just didn't figure it out yet?) and I use it all the time to change to desktop page, clear cookies, history etc.
The only programs in my sample that don't work with hardware menu button are calc+ and supersu, otherwise even Google maps works with hardware menu button (I use older version).
The fact is hardware button was consistent and worked on most programs I use, without it I was often lost when using S5, since everybody implements menu's in different way it seems. People complain about millisecond lag on the phone, when using S5 I would waste 2-5 seconds looking for the way to access menu and that was after i learned not to press left hardware button, lol. I just don't like new set up and prefer the way it was originally, maybe it's just me.

Lol.
Now that I think about it, I probably use the long press of the home button (recent apps) on my S3 more so than the Menu button.
What does a long press of the home button on the Note 4 do now?
on mine there is no menu like that

long press home button gives you google search on GS5 , recent apps is where menu used to be, I would imagine note 4 is similar, unless they changed it again.

Home Button Galaxy S6 (virtual vs physical)

Hi everyone, I dont post often (if ever) but wanted to share my experiences with my Samsung Galaxy S6. I previously owned a Moto X (1st gen), which for those who do not know had strictly on screen back/home/toggle buttons. That said, the S6 has a physical home button with capacitive buttons on each side for back/toggle. You are probably thinking, 'yeah so?', well hear me out.
This is a big change for someone who is used to simply 'tapping' (or barely touching) a button to get to home screen versus having to physically push down a button. I often use one hand navigating my phone, so trying to click the home button down on the S6 with one hand without the force of this nearly pushing it out of my hand is somewhat frustrating. I find myself often having to use two hands just to get back to the home screen, just typing this out makes me frustrated. GREAT phone though, I just do not understand why Android doesnt make it an option across the board for all phones to have virtual home task bar at the bottom of every screen. Yes, it may take away some screen space, but with the way it worked on most phones the buttons go away when watching video in full screen mode and only reappear when your finger taps the area.
I realize some prefer the physical home button, but let me tell you the way Moto designed their phones made a physical home button completely unnecessary. They use a technology that 'wakes' up the phone as soon as it senses your presence near the phone (like your hand reaching for it), then tap the screen and viola! Phone can be unlocked without pressing down firmly on some 'physical' button.
Now, I dont know if its possible, but if anyone could manage to do this I would be the first one in line to buy the app. If there was a way to make the S6 home button more like a capacitive button so that when placing your finger on it to 'unlock' using fingerprint scan it 'awakes', that would be amazing. Adding to that, when unlocked if you simply put your finger on the button and it went to home (versus physically pushing the button down with force, causing me to use another HAND!), well I would probably send you a personalized thank you vid with a check.
Anyone else feeling the same on physical buttons vs virtual?

Physical buttons are one of the reasons i stay with Samsung. I hate losing screen real estate to buttons, just like i hate having to do an action to get them there; all of this doubly so, when all the phones shipping have a chin that can easily accommodate buttons (in terms of size at least). I am stubborn, but ill be blunt. I want the buttons there at my convenience, not when software thinks i want them.
And even with the "huge" 5.1" screen, i hate the thought of losing what little screen space i have on my s6, to wasted buttons..
Yeah... no thanks.
I hear you on the wasted screen space deal.
But what if you replaced the button area with a bigger screen, then you have the option of having a button there (which would go away when not needed) or extra screen space for viewing.
I guess there is going to always be a difference of opinion on the matter. Just dont see the need for it anymore.
I hate the hard home buttons on Samsung devices with a passion. I don't much like software buttons either. I'd much rather have a touch sensitive home button just like the back and multitasking keys.

I hate losing screen too. Don't mind the physical button
Soft keys personally. Also works better with rotation though more of an issue with tablets than phones who are upright most of the time
If you know amoled well, you will understand impossible to use virtual button as that large of area will burn in if the same screen stay for a very long time. That's why Samsung deny to follow Googly virtual button policy and stick with physical.

If this were true, the top area showing cell power and battery would burn the screen too.
Navigation are at the bottom would be mostly black with gray buttons which would be OK for amoled.
I would prefer soft keys over physical buttons any day.
Whenever i watch youtube or do stuff in landscape I have to be wary of the capacitive keys flanking the home key if not I'll get kicked out of whatever I'm doing. Won't happen if you have soft keys.
I have a G2 which has an advertised 5.2 inch screen and its using soft keys and to be honest the soft keys taking up some of the screen space does not bother me at all! Apps like YouTube or Hearthstone hides the keys whenever they need to use the rest of the screen anyways.

You can use LMT (in the apps and games auditing) and get the best of both worlds if you're rooted. Brief touch on your choice of screen edges brings up the soft keys. There's a non rooted, slightly less functional version in the play store as well - forgot what it's called at the moment.

I prefer slide to wake.
Precisely why I absolutely despise virtual buttons. Screen estate is wasted.

Turns home button into a capacitive button using the fingerprint sensor.
Paid version lets you lock and wake up the screen without pressing the home button. Doesn't work with fingerprint lock screen though.

This app is really nice!
But I like All In One Gestures even more. There you can use e.g BACK button long press for HOME and double tap status bar for screen off...

What is SideSqueeze?
SideSqueeze is an app that brings extended functionality to your unrooted (or rooted) Galaxy device, helping you to do more. It is compatible only with (most) Samsung Galaxy devices from 2017 onwards, although some people have reported varying degrees of success with Pixel devices.
Your privacy is valued. This app does not contain ads, nor does it collect or harvest your data.
It does not have the ability to access the internet, regardless of whether or not special permissions are enabled, as can be verified in the manifest.
With the introduction of version 2.1, SideSqueeze has grown beyond just squeezing and pressing! The primary feature of SideSqueeze is still detecting both squeeze and press gestures via the analysis of barometric sensor pressure data, but now there's more... This new update brings many improvements and bug fixes to the pressure engine, as well as a brand new module called "Plus" that provides additional functionality, such as: fingerprint unlock vibration (for both front and back fingerprint scanners), face/iris unlock vibration, customizable fingerprint unlock actions (start the camera when you unlock with a certain finger, etc), power button long-press, various volume button combinations, S Pen button press remap, S Pen button double-press remap, S Pen button long-press, S Pen Note10 global air override (wave your pen at any time to perform home/back/recents/etc).
Tip: If you are not interested in squeezing/pressing and would like to use this app just for the Plus module features listed above, simply switch off both squeeze and press detection. This will completely suspend the analysis engine, and leave the Plus module functionality intact.
IMPORTANT! For the Plus module to work (as well as certain actions such as: immersive status/nav toggles, rotation toggle), a command has to be run from a computer via Android Developer Bridge (adb). Instructions can be found from within the app on the Help tab. This step only needs to be performed once.
What can it do?
Some examples...
Squeeze your device to go home!
Double Squeeze to start a voice assistant!
Triple Squeeze to perform a Tasker task!
Force press your screen to go home!

Choose a finger that will automatically start the camera instantly after unlocking via that finger!
Remap S Pen button press, double-press, and long-press!
Press both volume buttons together to do something!
Press volume up and power to turn your flashlight on!
Press volume down and power to do something while the screen is off!
Control the camera with your thumb: Volume roll down-to-up to start the camera, press volume down to take a picture, then volume roll up-to-down to close the camera!

Thank you for all of the feedback, lots of little bugs have been fixed. If I haven't replied to you, I still might yet, but if not, it is because I expect to have it in the Play store very, very soon.
In other news, I have added two new criteria thanks to feedback from @ser8210:
While phone is ringing
While in-call
Also added an action for 9.0+ to 'End Call'. This means you can assign one of the triggers (like double squeeze) and enable its in-call criteria to end a call upon double squeezing. It also means when the phone is ringing, you could use the phone ringing criteria to set a Tasker task to end the call and send a text message to the caller. The possibilities are endless with Tasker.
Anyone who is testing and reading this, please download the latest version by using the link you were given, but changing the end to 'pre5'.
