Bluetooth call quality problem after upgrade - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions & Answers

Hi all,
I recently picked up an S7 Edge and it was working fine. It had the notice to do the system update when I went into settings though.
I did that, and it went from PF1 to PG1. Now when I'm using the bluetooth in my car, people tell me that it's distorted, sounds like I'm in a tunnel, and they can't make out what I'm trying to say. I didn't have this problem before the update, and I didn't have a problem with my S4.
I just bought this at Best Buy about a week ago. Should I take it back? Should or could I reflash it back to PF1?
I don't want to trip Knox or root it.
Any suggestions?
thanks
-Jeff

Not going to have touch unless the app developer can find a work around for setting SELinux to permissive or the bootloader gets unlocked and we can change it in the kernel. I went back to my Note ll and gave the wife my GS5 for this very reason.
I am done with Samsung unless something gives with this enterprise **** being forced on everyone. I was really looking forward to the Note llll too and since according to Samsung EVERYONE IN THE ULTRAVERSE :silly: uses their device for work and needs Knox that wont happen. My phone is my phone my work phone is my employers phone, they are not similar and should not be assumed as such.
/ rant
Cliffs: you are SOL at the moment.and most likely forever on this device.

Glitching and freezing?

Hello,
I just acquired another Note 3, except this time on Verizon. Everything seemed to be working fine. I got home, did a factory reset (because the CSR skipped a bunch of stuff) and got everything set up the way I like it. Installed a few of my favorite apps (Snapchat, Spotify, Clash of Clans) and turned off all the Amazon and Verizon bloat.
Until...
About an hour after I got home I had my screen freeze. There was a few static lines going across the screen and then the device rebooted and returned to normal. No biggie. Then I played Clash of Clans for a little bit and the same thing happened. Sigh. This time it didn't restart itself, so I pulled the battery and noticed the battery cover wasn't fastened completely at the store. This made me question if that was the cause, but usually stuff like that happens from software issues. I left the battery out for a few minutes and threw it back in.
There was a couple more times it happened, but really no need to go into detail. Now I'm just sitting here typing this out hoping it doesn't happen again.
Any ideas to what might be causing this? I don't use any apps not tested on Kitkat, and am not rooted etc. I'd hate to make another trip to the store to swap it out. Oh, and I also disabled WiFi scanning, and that didn't seem to fix the issue.
Help!
I had some reboots as well. I don't remember where i saw it but I read an article about done issues in kit Kat causing freezes. The article also covered the pain in the arse changes to sdcard r/w.

I rooted using beanstown106's method for kit Kat 4.4.2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2787627

So I went back and exchanged the phone today for a different one and so far so good. This one came pre-installed with kitkat as well. I'm crossing my fingers.

No idea, haven't rooted mine and don't plan to. There should be a guide posted somewhere in General.
For what it's worth, haven't had a single issue with the replacement so far. Phew.

Could you keep me updated on how you went about getting it replaced? Also how long have you had it without incident? I'm looking into unrooting replacing it

It's been 24 hours so far without incident. I just took it up to the Verizon store where I purchased it and told them it was freezing and rebooting and they gave me a brand new replacement. How long have you had yours?

How were you able to get verizon to send you a new phone due to lag? Were there issues as well?
Mine is only 6 months old and in great condition, but I'd love to try and get one without BOG5 pre-installed so I could roll it back to 4.4 and use Kingroot to install some system apps.

When I bought my Note 4 about 3 months ago it shipped with BOG5 already on it. So so likelihood of you getting one without it are slim to none. Just figured I'd let you know.

Unbrick Verizon Note 7 (No matter How Bad)

Hey guys,
I created an account here just to share this fix with you all.
To start, Tuesday morning, I decided to update the note 7 (to the firmware that changes battery color if your device is safe). After finding that my battery is still white, I contacted my Verizon Rep and ordered a replacement. Since the phone should have arrived the very next day (corporate account) I decided to flash my phone using the root methods in this forum... BIG mistake. If anyone can confirm that after updating the note, root is successful, then please share. But in the end what I was left with was a note 7 that wouldn't even accept the verizon firmware flashed through Odin. Smartswitch didn't work either (wouldn't accept my serial) so i was pretty much SOL and out of a phone... Until today.
After one last attempt to fix this as I wait for my replacement to arrive, I was searching on the verizon forums and found an old post from the galaxy s5 on their forum. I downloaded the repair assistant from here * verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-80201/#windows * and put my phone in download mode. After connecting it and selecting REPAIR in the verizon software, the program downloaded the latest firmware and brought my phone right back to factory settings working as good as new. This was the only method that I found to work after several days of frustration.
I hope this helps someone out there. Thank you for reading!
i assume the only option was the most recent firmware?

Correct. The software goes to Verizons servers and downloads the latest firmware. So the annoying "power down now!" pop ups still show when the device is plugged in but it will be replaced soon anyway At least I have a functional phone in case of an emergency until the replacement arrives.
dude you save my life..same exact thing happen to me,but I had already updated my new note with the green battery and when I tried to flash the sprint firmware it failed and brick my phone..i decided to do the update cause people where saying that it did work with the new phone. but i guess i should of waited and not apply the new update.oh well
Glad to hear I helped somebody! Maybe I'll learn to live without root for a little while lol. The phone is still awesome

Okay, this worked for me, so I'm paying it forward because you guys have been tremendously amazing!!
SO, like many people with the PHE Verizon Note 7 , I received the 60% update and unknowingly installed it. Was very unhappy and tried to root my device not knowing that it would semi-brick it. Used the verizon software assistant to repair it and it erased and restored my device back to the point where it prompted me to install the update again. Downloaded package disabler pro apk version 6.3 and turned off auto update in the play store. MANUALLY entered in two file names which I will post below this and.. VOILA!!!! NO MORE UPDATE MESSAGE... EVER!!! This works only for VZW Note 7 as far as I know.
I disabled these two: com.samsung.sdm and com.sec.android.soagent since we are talking about Verizon here. They do vary by carrier.
First one gets rid of the message icon in the notification bar. Second one I guess stops it from coming back. Hope this helps someone!!
THANK YOU!!
You saved me from having to downgrade to an inferior phone. THANK YOU!!!
My wife (whose Note 7 was not rooted) accidentally did the upgrade from PH1 to PHE. Do you supposed we could plug her phone in and use this software to get it to revert back to the stock PH1 firmware? I'm trying to figure out how we can get her phone back to stock, if at all possible.

No. Not possible.
She is stuck on STOCK PHE.. block updates so she doesnt get bumped to the next STOCK upgrade at 60% battery
Hmmm. She now has the update where she's limited to 60% battery. Can't she do like Tmunroe1 above, try and root and use the Verizon software to revert it back? Seems like that would replicate exactly what he did, and ultimately end up back at stock like we want, yeah?
EDIT: Let me clarify. She does not care about root. She just wants her 100% battery back, so I'm interested in knowing if we can plug her phone in and utilize the Verizon Repair Assistant to revert it back to PHE w/ 100% battery.
Possibly

That worked for me. Yeah, I attempted root and bricked it unknowingly (I've rooted phones before but didn't adequately research the versions that wouldn't work. I was rooting for the express purpose of blocking the 60% limitation). But when the Verizon/Samsung repair software went in, it put me back to the version prior to the 60% update. I'm now able to charge to 100% and have blocked further updates using methods described above. Unfortunately, we likely don't have any way of knowing what version the repair tool will put on the phone, as they may or may not have remembered to update it by now. The version the recovery software put on my phone is N930VVRS2APHE. I hope this helps.

S7edge device status says custom but has NEVER been rooted or flashed

My S7edge has been saying that it is custom under device status. I have never flashed a row more rooted my phone. My Knox counter has never been tripped. I've seen that there was a similar issue that bigbad614 had commented on a few months back. My carrier is T Mobile. I have tried contacting Samsung a few times T Mobile a few times and have also gone to Best Buy. All of them had pretty much no idea what I was talking about. I cannot receive any security updates because my phone says that it has been modified in an un authorized way... Which it hasn't been. I am very desperate with this situation and could really use the help to get my S7edge back to official status. This has really been a very big problem with no resolution insight thank you... Keith G
If none of the knox counters are tripped, you should be able to odin the official firmware back to 100% stock.

If you don't want to do it yourself though Odin just take it to best buy to the Samsung department and have them flash the stock firmware for you. They have all you need and its free.

Are you using a different launcher? I ran into this issue when I first got my s7 Edge. After awhile it stopped telling me in an unauthorized way. I'm using Nova Prime, stock never been rooted, and received the last update just fine.

If you go to the rooting guide......it has everything you need to restore to stock. Sammobile website requires you to register though but the stock systems are there.
Please keep in mind....right now you can't downgrade so make sure to download the right system. It takes hours to download....... Sammobile is slow but works.

by any chance are using package dissabler pro it does that if you block 1 certain app can recall which one but it does i had to un freeze all the apps then do 1 by 1 until i finally didn't have the custom status others had luck after freezing the apps then do a cache clean you know in boot mode then that would clear it up once again that's if you are using package dissabler pro.
Most likely your phone is custom as people return their phones that way and they gave it right to you most reps don't know the difference
