So with Android 7.0 AKA Nougat and Root of H830 - LG G5 Guides, News, & Discussion

So with select SK LG G5's already getting the Nougat update to play with I can only assume that the rest of us will see it at some point sooner rather then later.... with that said... I will be getting my H830 next week and would like to root it.
For those that have already rooted theirs, and turned off updates... what are your plans when Nougat rolls out?
Remove root and take the OTA update?
Thoughts?

I just got the notice for the VZ S7 Edge official update.

Official Android 7.0 won't come until after they test the beta for a month or so...the update you got was a monthly security update PI3. Anything after the PH1 update (update prior to PI3), you won't be able to flash the beta (either via official method or using ODIN unofficially). It'll error. I would be shocked if official Android 7.0 would come before year's end, however, anything's possible I suppose...

Nougat software for Verizon PI3?

I see the nougat ota update for PH1, but Verizon released new sotware before I saw that. I don't see any ota nougat updates for PI3. Does anybody have them?
Downgrade to PH1 and install the OTA update from recovery. Worked for me.

Upgrading to oreo O when it's released while rooted

Will I have to wait for a developer to build an oreo room and get the bugs ironed out? (No, I cannot build it myself) or is there any chance that there will be an easy way to upgrade to oreo and keep root access intact?
It will take a Dev to port it. Taking the upgrade, if available, will erase root and custom recovery.
That said, a Dev can take the system.img and other partitions and and edit them to port it to this phone.
When I had a note 4 there were ports to the note 5, S6, S7 and note 7, Lollipop, Marshmallow, Nougat . There may even be one now for the S8.
Don't hold your breath.
Bottom line: You need to be rooted and someone needs to build a custom rom based on Oreo.
V20 is expected to get Oreo in the first quarter of 2018:

Hopefully some devs will be around to root it, or provide a path from rooted machines to update without losing root.

YES!! (Hopefully) I have an unlocked AT&T version (not on AT&T) and I haven't got ANY updates, I ordered a AT&T GoPhone SIM, hopefully when I pop it in, I will get the updates

New S7 take OTA updates or Root first?

Finally moving to an S7 (verizon) and wanted to know if I should take the OTA's when my phone arrives or keep as-is and root immediately.
Do later updates prevent rooting? I guess this largely depends on what version it ships with...
TIA

Just flashed the Nougat update. Will I need to install EVERY update to get to latest?

I just bought an unlocked AT&T Galaxy S7 to use on another carrier. Because I'm not on AT&T, I don't get OTA updates. I sideloaded the QA6 update which brought the device up to Android 7.0. However, I noticed there are like 8 OTA updates that at&t pushed out. I would like to be able to get onto the latest update which was released a couple weeks back, but the idea of sideloading that many updates is discouraging. Are there some updates I can skip? Thank you.
