Battery Help - Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Questions and Answers

Hey guys. Im have the at&t galaxy s7 edge and my battery life isnt so good.i want to get at least 5-6 hours of SOT while having around 20-30% battery left. I can see that this is completely possible as I see many achieving this battery life. It was hard for me to follow the threads as there are so many different variants and methods to increasing battery life so I wanted to ask on this thread for me specifically. I do not have root nor do I want to root. I mostly watch youtube and use social media and a couple games daily. My signal is pretty good here as well. Im also on build numbef PG1. If you need any additional information, please ask. Please help me in achieving this battery life. Thank you so much.

My battery life is very poor

Can anybody help me? I've spent hours tweaking and tuning my phone but my battery life is still terrible. I've frozen pretty much every bloat were, disable Google apps, low screen not bright, and using custom kernel and in it. D script. Can someone plz point me in right direction to have excellent battery life?
U call this bad battery life? Are u kidding me? I'll be lucky if i get 4 hrs SOT. Worry no more cuz, u have no problem.
Just wtf... Other than that, there are numerous threads about battery life. Don't be lazy, do some searching.
I combed the forums and Google but could not find good answers. I hear some people get up to 9 hours of SOT and I feel like my battery is poor because I have difficulty achieving 7 hours.
@justinxfan
That you couldn't find them doesn't mean they don't exist.

LOL! 6 hours SoT is great, if you could hit 7 hours that's excellent.
Those who achieve 9 hours do quite a lot of things. They set everything to blackish/darker background, they undervolt the CPU and probably GPU too, then there are other battery friendly Xposed modules are being used, like Amplify, Greenify, Power Nap etc. If you want to do those many things, then go on. I absolutely have no time, and more importantly no interest in wasting hours to achieve an hour or so extra.
You are on KitKat by the way, I have never managed to get any more than 5 hours SoT on KK, have hit 6 hours on LP thogh, quite a lot of times, and even hit 7 hours few months ago, I don't even check how much SoT I am getting as an average now.
how can i get this? i am on stock rooted. removed all the samsung stuff, using greenify. but cant get more than 4 hours on screen on time

Maybe because you're in a zone where reception isn't great? Poor signal is a huge culprit for battery life. Or probably you use 3G/LTE more than you use Wi-Fi. Wi-Fi sucks battery much less than 3G. There are quite a lot of factors here, you just use the phone normally, do not install any stupid apps, you should be able to get 5 hours SoT. 4 hours isn't really that bad anyway.

yes may be the reception isnt that good, i use only 2g.
i charged my note 3 n900 afetr 58 hours and the battery was at 25% and screen on time was 3h40m
Actually I'm using jelly bean I downgraded my phone to jelly Bean from lollipop after lollipop became too much for me.
This is great battery life you get. If you still want more, either turn your phone off, or downgrade it another notch to 3310. The battery will last a whole week.

Battery Life on G900F

So guys sorry if this post is "usual". But I bought the S5 for about 2-3 weeks now from second hand, also bought a brand new battery and I have remained on Alexander Devbase CPD7(MM 6.0.1) these days. My question is...how do people actually get 5-6h of sot on this phone? My best score was 3:46h of sot. Please give your app usages and tips. Oh and welcome me since I'm new to the s5 community Cheers.
Welcome lol
Nothing special, I just run a debloated stock ROM, 50% brightness is the only thing I change, WiFi is enabled 24/7
I was just showing my battery life with the new OTA 6.0.1 firmware earlier, over 4 hours with 50% battery left

All depends what you're doing on your phone though, if you're using that battery hog facebook app, or even have it installed, it's gonna drain your battery much quicker, or playing games etc
I use mine for WhatsApp, emails, texts and calls mainly, some browsing and easily get 6 hours SoT, today I was headed for 8 hours but forgot and plugged it in at 35%

Is my Battery Defective? (S7 Edge Root Battery Drain)

Hey guys. So I've recently had a lot problems with my S7 edge. A lot of them I fixed.
My root was terrible until a couple weeks ago when it started to just overheat constantly and shut down. (Not the Occulus app either.) So I factory reset it to PE1 and followed the root guide on a clean startup this time and it's smooth as silk now.
However, I notice I still have issues with my battery...
Even after following these guides:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...uide-fine-tuning-performance-battery-t3417804
and
http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...guide-to-fix-s7-lag-root-s7-variants-t3441715
While my phone is running very smooth, my battery is draining way too fast.
My phone will not doze, and I've dropped at least 20-30% over just leaving the phone alone for 14h. I have Force Doze enabled as well.
Judging by what people have been posting, their phones are in a deep deep sleep when it's off. Mine doesn't sleep at all.
I've got every configured in that guide except for Do Not Disturb as I don't use it.
Also not to mention, my Screen on Time is terrible. I can literally watch my battery drain, when on Chrome, a Game, or even listening to music. It's FASTER than it should be.
I have some pics below to show, my posts...
I noticed Google Services was draining a lot so I fixed some app permissions and it's still persisting.
Help would be greatly appreciated, as well as tips. If you need anymore info, please just ask, and I'll post screens of what you need.
It's because of the root.
It will most likely have that battery drain if it's rooted.

Yes, but the ENG boot makes the battery life terrible for everyone.
They might be using greenify or some other tool to do get the better life. But no matter what you always get a bad battery life with the current root method.

I am rooted using stang5litre ROM and getting very good battery life. Most nights losing only .5 to .7% over 6 to 7 hours. Normally get a full day and a 1/2 per charge. I am not using special apps like Greenify or other apps to extend battery life. I do use titanium to freeze Verizon bloat.

Same. I'm using the same rom and no greenify either.
I've under clocked the SoC a little to help with throttling and it helped with battery a little but that's about it.
3h 40m SOT and 14hrs 48min since i pulled it off the charger. Still at 23%.
Not very heavy usage either.
I posted in another thread about this
Dude I'm in the same boat. I've tried every rom on this board with all the exposed battery saver apps. But still when non rooted the battery is amazing. As soon as I root I can literally type an email on my phone and watch 3% tick away. Like right now went from 30% to 27% fml lol
More
Update: I went back to stock universal rom no root and what a difference. Woke up around 9am and used my phone a full day, facebook, whatsapp, exchange and gmail, Went to bed around 1am with 33% charge left. With root I was charging my phone twice a day. My battery stats with root kernel were always showing 25-30% usage by the kernel

Thinking about rooting

I have always rooted my phones but so far I haven't rooted my S7 Edge yet. However, the battery life sucks but after reading some comments on here it seems that people who root are getting no better or worse battery life. I was just looking for some feedback from people that have rooted to see what the majority response is. I've been contemplating doing this now for several days.
Thanks.
I've been contemplating about trying root again too, and that's after being on the U firmware. I'm now suffering battery life by only getting 2 hours of SOT by 50%, unlike at the beginning I could get up to 3 hours by 50%.
When I was on root though, that's how bad I suffered, only getting 2 hours of SOT by 50%. My Xperia Z3v is abandoned on support, but could still achieve better battery life being only on Lollipop. C'mon Samsung...

When i rooted my battery life dropped from 2 days to under a day before dying.
I am barely even getting that. I am at 59% right now with 37 minutes SOT and off the battery for 8 hours and 26 minutes. When I check app usage, the only thing that is high is the Android System at 39% and the Kernel at 10.7%. I can't figure out what kills my battery. I am on WiFi most of the time while at work or at home. BT is off as well.
On root you are using the engineering bootloader so the battery life is bad. You are better off using stock U. It runs smooth and battery life is not bad, plus you can get OTA updates.
U is a great FW so far. Battery life for me, with about 4 hours of SOT got me to about 50% at 530pm and I was off the charger at 7am.
